Ever feel buried under seminars, webinars, hot takes, and “must-do” threads? We’ve been there. When the pressure to choose the perfect strategy grew loud, we hit pause and asked a better question: God, what do You say about our next step? That shift—from collecting advice to seeking the Author of the vision—changed everything about how we build, plan, and move.

We walk through the tension between valuable human counsel and the primacy of God’s guidance, using Scripture to ground clear decisions. Proverbs 15:22 reminds us that plans benefit from many advisors, but we first return to the One who gave the calling. We talk about the mind of Christ from 1 Corinthians 2:16 and how that shapes our thinking, tone, and pace. We explore James 1:5 as a promise for generous wisdom when we ask, and we unpack Psalm 32:8 to show how God offers turn-by-turn guidance—practical, timely, and specific. Along the way, we share real moments of confirmation, where a verse resurfaces in conversation at just the right time, and how those patterns help us discern the voice of God.

If you’re juggling a new project, a business idea, or a shift in season, this conversation offers a simple framework: seek God first, then weigh counsel through Scripture, wisdom, and alignment. You’ll learn how to test advice without cynicism, invite mature voices without surrendering your vision, and track God’s leading through His Word. We want you to leave with less noise, more clarity, and a practical next step you can take today.

Drowning In Too Much Advice

Constance Lavonice

We live in a world where information is readily available. You can't always believe what you read or what someone says, but if you're seriously seeking information, you can find it. I started my podcast in 2025, and my husband started the new business after retirement, and I've been helping him and doing a lot of research for both the business and the podcast. What I found is there are many voices telling me what to do, how to do it, when to do it, seminars, webinars, professionals, well-meaning friends and family, and even social media influencers. After hours and days and months of research, feedback, and advice, I was so overwhelmed that I had to stop and ask myself, what does God say? If you're new here, you're listening to Wholeheart Conversations, a podcast especially for women to receive biblical encouragement that fosters resilience through the practical application of God's word. I'm your host, Constance Lavonice. Proverbs 15:22 says, without counsel, plans fail, but with many advisors they succeed. It benefits us to seek counsel. A wise, mature, experienced, godly person for counsel. However, we have to remember that our vision is our vision. No one understands your vision more than you, with the exception of God. So we seek God for our decisions and our plans and our aspirations. First of all, if you're Christian, you have the mind of Christ. The words of the Apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians chapter 2, verse 16 says, For who has understood the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him? But we have the mind of Christ. We have the ability to think like Christ. We have his mind. Christ is our spiritual resource. The second thing is that we have the wisdom of God. James chapter one, verse five says, if any of you likes wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. All, not some, but all. Everyone who asks for wisdom, God's word says that he will give us wisdom, and he'll give it to us abundantly. The wisdom of God. We have that. Not only do we have the mind of Christ, but we can ask and seek wisdom from God. David in Psalms 32, verse 8, reminds us that God will instruct us and teach us in the way we should go. He will counsel us with his eyes upon us. What does this mean? It means that God will give us specific instructions. It's like asking for directions, and someone tells you to drive up the street, and when you get to the light, turn right. At that light, you're going to see a Walgreens. Turn right and keep going straight. And as you're driving, you're going to pass a church on your right, you're going to see a school on your left. And at the next light, Harbor Avenue, turn left. And as you drive, you will see your destination on the right at the next light. That's in specific instructions for you to find your destination. That's what God does for us. He will instruct us step by step. He will also teach us. The teacher explains things in a way that the student can understand. So God will explain the steps in a way that you can understand. Clearly, you'll hear his voice teaching you on what you should do and the way you should go. And he will counsel you with his eye upon you. God sees you and he knows you and he knows your needs. So he will be your counsel. He will counsel us. And he's the great counselor. And he'll confirm it in your spirit. And sometimes, often, when I'm seeking God for something, especially when I'm reading the Bible and I have a scripture that I'm focusing on, and I'm having a conversation with someone, usually someone who also reads the word, and they will mention the same scripture that I'm studying. And I know that that's God confirming that scripture in my heart. That's a confirmation. I've heard it twice. So God will confirm and counsel you on which direction to take. So I want to encourage you, when you're embarking on a new path or implementing a new plan, it's good to seek mature, wise, godly counsel after you've consulted with the Lord. Many times he's placed the vision in your heart to begin with. And God is the one who knows all about your vision and how to attain it. Not only has he given you the mind of Christ, you can think like Christ, but he also gives you wisdom if you ask. And not just a little bit of wisdom, but wisdom abundantly. God also will instruct, teach you, and counsel you. So if you're trying to figure out the next steps and you're processing a lot of information, you have a lot of voices speaking to you, stop and ask yourself, God, what do you say? And if you've heard anything helpful, join me again next week. Subscribe, share with a friend, and text the show and let me know what God is saying to you this week.
