When you’re running on empty, the instinct is to pull back and wait for motivation to return. But what if the fastest path to feeling renewed is to pour out something small and sincere for someone else? I’m Constance lavonice, and I’m inviting you into a simple biblical idea that can reset your spiritual, mental, and emotional energy: “Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed” (Proverbs 11:25).

We walk through what that proverb really means, why generosity is more than a personality trait, and how the law of sowing and reaping plays out in everyday life. I connect it with Galatians 6:9, because doing good can feel tiring when you don’t see instant results, yet God promises a harvest in the proper time. We also talk about why acts of service can lift your mood and strengthen your sense of purpose, including the surprising way helping others can support emotional well-being.

Then we get very practical. You’ll leave with simple, realistic ways to refresh someone this week: a call or text, a handwritten note, a meal, a ride, a sincere compliment, prayer with someone, learning a name, and listening without interrupting. If you’ve been asking God for a recharge, this might be your next step. Subscribe, share this with a friend, and leave a review so more women can find biblical encouragement for whole heart resilience.

What Does Recharging Look Like

Constance Lavonice

Ever felt the need for a recharge spiritually, mentally, or emotionally? What comes to your mind when you think of recharging? Is it sleep, rest, relaxation, doing something totally different from what you've been doing? Something fun? Exciting? Well, the Bible offers a unique way of refreshing and revitalizing ourselves, and is found in Proverbs 11, verse 25. You're listening to Whole Heart Conversations, a podcast for women that provides biblical encouragement to foster whole heart, spirit, soul, and body resilience. I'm your host, Constance Lavonice. According to Proverbs 1125, those who refresh others will themselves be refreshed. Let's break that down. The New International Version states it this way a generous person will prosper. Whoever refreshes others will be refreshed. Refresh others, refresh ourselves. When we help others, we help ourselves. This is a spiritual law, the law of sowing and reaping. We reap what we sow later than we sow and more than we sow. And because God has been generous to us through Jesus' sacrificial death, His grace, and His mercy, and the gift of the Holy Spirit, we can be generous to others. Galatians 6 9 exhorts, let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we don't give up. We always reap what we sow in some form or another. The second consideration for refreshing others is that helping others or acts of service has been shown to boost our own mental health. It provides a sense of purpose and meaning. It brings out the gifts and fruit of the spirit God has given us and provides an opportunity for us to express those gifts and the fruit of the Spirit, such as love and joy to others. And it's also exciting that helping others releases feel-good hormones and neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, which boost our mood and provides us with a sense of well-being. Thirdly, it pleases God. It draws the presence of God. When our ways please God, He's going to show up and in the process meet us at our point of need. So now let's talk about some practical ways to refresh others. The first is to call or text someone, encourage someone by writing a note, a card, or a letter. And I know that this sounds old-fashioned, but my granddaughter loves to receive a handwritten card. So try it. You may be surprised at how someone will receive an old-fashioned handwritten note. Additionally, we can perform a specific deed or a kind act, such as cooking if you know how to cook well, or you can bake a dessert if you know how to bake well. You can offer a ride to someone who may not have a car. We can pray for others and pray with others, or we can just acknowledge, affirm, and speak a kind word to someone else. Give a sincere compliment. Call someone by their name. Learn their name if you don't know it. Have a conversation. Listen without interrupting. There's so many ways that we can encourage or refresh someone. So this week I want you to think of someone you can encourage or provide an act of kindness to and make it your intention to follow through. Because when you refresh others, you will be refreshed. And a generous person will prosper in God's kingdom. So I want to thank you for listening. Please subscribe, share, and text the show and let me know what's on your heart.
