Resilience For Christian Women: Identity
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Resilience gets talked about like it’s just grit, but real resilience begins with identity. When you know who you are in Christ, you stop collapsing into fear and passivity the moment life gets loud. We open with Jesus’ clear warning from John 10:10 about a spiritual adversary who comes to kill, steal, and destroy and we hold it next to Jesus’ promise of abundant life, because that contrast changes how we face pressure, temptation, and discouragement.
We also name the enemy the way Scripture does: the ruler of this world, the god of this world, and the commander of powers in the unseen realm. Then we get practical with Ephesians 6 and the call to be strong in the Lord and put on the full armor of God, so we can stand firm against the devil’s schemes. We define what a “scheme” is, why it works so often through confusion and intimidation, and how we resist without panic by submitting to God and refusing to give the enemy ground.
The heart of the message is identity and authority. We slow down in Ephesians 1:3–7 to remember what’s already true: you are blessed with every spiritual blessing, chosen, made holy in Christ, adopted as God’s daughter, redeemed, forgiven, loved, favored, and lavished with grace. If you’ve been battling anxiety, shame, or spiritual heaviness, let this be a reset as you align your self talk with God’s Word and learn to live from victory. Resilience Starts With Identity
Constance LavoniceOne way to cultivate resilience is to know who we are in Christ. Jesus tells us in John 10 10 that we have a spiritual adversary that comes to kill, steal, and destroy. However, Jesus has come to give us life and to give us life more abundantly. And because of Jesus, we don't have to adopt a victim or passive mindset when we encounter spiritual battles or spiritual schemes designed to reduce our effectiveness and or destroy us. Welcome to Whole Heart Conversations. This is a podcast for women that provides biblical encouragement to foster whole heart, spirit, soul, and body resilience. I am your host, Constance Lavonice. As Christians, we refer to this spiritual adversary as Satan or the devil. In 2 Corinthians chapter 4, verse 4, the apostle Paul describes Satan as the God of this world. The book of John refers to Satan as the ruler of this world. Paul also described him in Ephesians chapter 2, verse 2, as the devil, the commander of the powers in the unseen world. And John in the book of Revelation describes him as the ancient serpent called the devil or Satan. Ephesians chapter 6, verses 10 and 11 tells us to be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. Put on the full armor of God so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. A scheme is a plan of action, a strategy to hinder, defeat, or destroy. What's the strategy? To kill, steal, and destroy, according to Jesus. So that's the first thing we have to be aware of. The second is our identity and who we are in Christ. Even though the devil comes to kill, steal, and destroy, literally, we don't have to be anxious or afraid because we already have the victory and is based on who we are in Christ. As a Christian, everything that Christ has, we have. Through his Holy Spirit that resides in us. This is the number one fact to remember as we journey through life. Satan has no power except the power that we give to him. And that happens when we're not aware of the schemes that are happening in the spiritual realm, and we're not exercising the authority of our identity. The Bible tells us to submit to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you. James 4, 7. How do we resist the schemes of the devil? Through knowing our identity. And I love the book of Ephesians, chapter one, specifically verses three through seven. It tells us our position, authority, and identity in Christ. Let me recall what it says. First, we are blessed with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places. We already have what God has. It's ours to discover. We are chosen before the foundation of the world. We are holy and blameless before Him. God no longer sees our sin and our shortcomings, but He now sees us through Christ. We were predestined to adoption as his daughters. That means that we are joint heirs with Christ. We have been redeemed through the blood of Jesus Christ. We are forgiven of all our sins through the blood of Jesus Christ, past, present, and future. God loves us. He loves us with an everlasting love. We are favored. He gives us favor with others and himself. And we are lavished in his grace, his unmerited favor. Allow God's word to sink into your heart and align your identity with who God says you are, because resilience is knowing your identity in Christ. And if this message resonated with you, please subscribe and share with a friend so that we can encourage more women. And go back and meditate on Ephesians chapter 1, verses 3 through 7, and text the show and let me know how God spoke to your heart.
