What happens when an idea stays with you for nearly three decades?

In this episode of The Dap and A Hug Podcast, I sit down with artist, creator, and friend Matthew Davis for a conversation that starts with comic books and creativity but quickly expands into something much deeper.

Matthew shares his journey as an independent artist, the lessons he's learned from years of creating, and the realities of bringing original ideas to life. We talk about character creation, worldbuilding, artistic confidence, imposter syndrome, comic conventions, supporting independent creators, and why it's never too late to pursue the things that call to you.

Along the way, we dive into everything from Superman, Wolverine, and Fullmetal Alchemist to faith, discipline, dreams, community, jiu-jitsu, personal growth, and the importance of staying true to your principles even when the path isn't always clear.

One of the things I enjoyed most about this conversation is that it wasn't just about art. It was about the creative spirit itself—the part of us that wants to build, create, tell stories, and leave something meaningful behind.

Whether you're an artist, entrepreneur, comic book fan, creator, or simply someone trying to figure out your next step in life, I think you'll find something in this conversation that resonates.

Matthew will be exhibiting at HeroesCon in Charlotte, North Carolina, June 12–14, 2026, in Artist Alley alongside internationally recognized comic artist Richard Ortiz.

Peace and Love at The Dap and A Hug

So this is a very special episode of the Dap in the Hood podcast. I have my good friend slash brother Matthew Davis on the scene. What's up, everyone? Uh this is a little bit of redemption. I uh dropped the ball without going into detail. I dropped the ball, but now what? Uh I picked it up, crossed over past half court, and some type of fantastic dunk, which I don't even attempt to dunk anymore, by the way. Basketball. Let's get my knees gonna snap in half. But um the reason why it's very special is because you actually have something that you're gonna promote. You got some good stuff coming up in the month of June, correct? I'll be doing a comic book convention in mid-June. Yeah, yeah, from 12, uh the 12th of June to the 14th at Heroes Comic Con um at Artists Alley, and it's gonna be the uh Charlotte Convention Center. I'll be exhibiting with an uh artist. His name is Richard Ortiz. So I haven't even that's so depending on how fast this podcast goes out, um, this might be the first time you hear about Richard Ortiz. So there it is. If you listen to Dap and the Hug podcast, you're you hear this announcement. Richard Ortiz is coming from Uruguay. No, no, it's Uruguay. Uruguay. And I will get that pronunciation correct. But no, he's a big time um indie artist, and he's done a lot of contributions mainly to Lady Death's uh covers for Comp Coffin Comics, owned by Brian and Fran Polito. Really nice individuals. Uh, he'll be exhibiting with me and we'll be doing a collaborative piece of something cool. We're throwing around some ideas of some animals and some other classic pinup poses. But that is what's coming up, and I'm super excited about that. Yeah, baby. And if you didn't know this, uh, he is still ill. If you didn't take a look at the still ill. This is uh shout out to Beastie Boys, and it's also um specifically um uh indie comic book company Still Ill Comics, which is uh owned by Dan Mendoza and his wife Nightmare Lynch, and they do covers like Zombie Tramp, uh and or other titles like Sad Girl Psycho Baby, and I kill things with my head, which is about a character that literally just throws things and kills things with their head. Pretty, pretty crazy. This is why independent comics is so cool and fun, is because people are so original. You don't have you know Superman ones and twos and threes and fours, you got original stuff. That's why you like stuff like Full Metal Alchemist. Yeah, right. I love it. Yo, let me tell you something. At 41 years old, I bought some trading cards, though. I have never owned trading, unless I was a kid and I don't remember, but like as far as my lifetime, I've never like purchased trading cards. I got them right here. Yeah, man. Oh, very good. I was thinking about like shuffling them up, man, and dealing them out, and when it lands on one of these homunca light that represents sin, I could talk to somebody, you know, talk some good stuff about, you know, scripture out of the Bible that talks about sin, wrath. There's a list of them. I'm not gonna go down a list, but um we are nerding out today. So when it comes to like mythology, right? I'm sure you see like a resemblance or correlation. Like, do you think like superheroes today are replacing like old mythological beings? Uh or like the way gods did for older civilizations. I think some of them, depending on what which story, I mean, there's so many different genres now, but um I'm sure, like I think some of them can probably do that. Superman does that with a lot of different characters in religion and mythology and stuff. Yeah, yeah. Like, okay, let me ask you this though. If somebody like 500 years from now, if they look back and studied our comics that we have right now that are like more common and everything that are circulating, like what do you think they would think that we believed in by looking at the current comics 500 years from now? That's a good question. Yeah, sit in it, marinate in it. I think Superman, I think they go back to Superman because it's like a because it's more believable than Batman or Spider-Man if they go back and they're like, oh, it was believable that there could be a being like Superman, yeah. Yeah, like because like I yeah, I guess for so for for me, there could be an alien that comes around and it's like, yeah, what's up? I'm bigger than y'all. Yeah, welcome to my humble abode. I'm like, um. Um as far as the iteration that has how it exists right now, no, it's pure theoretical, right? Right. Um, I might have to marinate on that one a little bit more. We can circle back, bro. That's cool. I'm just thinking. Superman's the only one that comes to the case. Wait, wait, he's thinking while drawing. Very multi-talented guy here. Oh, thanks. You know what I'm saying? You're talking about multitasking, bro. You you yeah, you blow my mind right now with that. Woo! You know, let me let me ask you this then, man. We can come back to that. I'm sure it I'm sure it'll pop up in your mind here within the next five or eleven minutes. Do you think heroes are really about power or are they about like how we cope as humans? I think it's I think it's how we cope as humans or how whatever like care because like power is how we how we wield it and how we like do do the thing with the power. Yeah, adversity is like it's way, way more fun to read about than just power. And a good example is back to Superman again. Yeah, I know. You know Fark can't. Everybody knows his story, but you know, he's not even my favorite's like comic. Who's your favorite? My favorite? Uh, you know. Yeah, let's get off the Superman. I was talking to um talking to my buddy the other day. I was gonna say probably Wol Wolverine? Spider-Man would probably be number number two. Yeah. Spider-Man and Wolverine are like up there. I got Venom back though. Or maybe bring him out. Yeah. You know what I'm saying? You don't want no problems. I like Venom I like Venom. Because, you know, Venom's got like he's he's a fun character. And this symbiote is interesting, right? The concept of the symbiote. Who venoms? Yeah. I was thinking about, you know, my idea. About the the mushroom, my CM Symbiote. Yeah, we're gonna and how that would relate to like in a in a beneficial way. Restoration, dog. Yeah. I'm actually in the you know, pre-production stage of developing a character, a comic book character. Yeah, and um yeah, my guy right here is gonna help me. He actually gave me a book on script writing for comic books, but uh I have yet to crack it open, to be honest, ladies and gentlemen. That one is uh that's a script book called uh powers, and that's a show that is gonna be in an animated iteration. So check that out and read read the book. Um, it's it's good, it's good stuff. It's about some detectives that investigate um people with powers and how not quite like the boys, but a little different. But it's a good time. So speaking of comics, I am right now doing some test drawing of cartoons so I can for in preparation for my upcoming comic book because it is gonna be in a cartoon format and it will be depending on the and and now right now it's this is the fun part because I'm finding the style of how all of the people and how all of the things are gonna look in this universe. Um with this iteration, like right now I'm drawing ludicrous. How's ludicrous gonna look in this in this world, you know? So it's kind of like uh I'm gonna bring up one of your favorite movies, bro. What rock and roller? I was gonna wear my rock and roller shirt, man, but I didn't. Goofy movie. Oh yeah. When uh when so I bring Goofy movie up because think about Polly Shore's character. It's gonna chase up. Dude, that is a goofed out version of Pauly Shore. Like, you know that it's Pauly Shore as a cartoon. And so that's what I'm doing right now is I'm making, I'm literally making like a cartoon Luda to be Luda gonna throw them bowls, throw them bowls, keep playing with them. Oh, dude. But yeah, the uh the Polly Shore character was hilarious, man. Um it was a good movie. That's a good movie. I'm not gonna go in a deep dive on it, man, but I'm not gonna break out the lesser's possum part like I did in the last episode. If you didn't watch the first episode, I did a very good impersonation of uh the whole lesser possum part thing, in my opinion. It was good. It's on it's on the clip. Yeah, so I'll share the clip again. Yeah, man. Let me ask you this. So when you create a character, are you discovering them or are you inventing them? Uh inventing them first and then discovering them. Yeah. Because then I feel like I'm for me, I'm visually trying to find out what they look like and then adding like the character after that. Like what I I I make them tick later on. That's just just how I how I create. Let me ask you this. I'm like I said, I know I admit I hadn't started reading the script book, but for my situation, should I go ahead and just lay out and build my character about the whole restoration and do my research of the different things that we can use to restore people, get all that scientific evidence first, right? Before I start drawing, or before you start drawing? Like, how does that work? As far as your story and stuff like that goes, I would say get out like a have like a session where you get out a bunch of ideas and just see what kind of but as far as the story itself goes, um definitely do it little by little. Don't because like for me, and this is just from someone that came out with a character. I came out with a character like when I was like 16. So I was like, oh, that would have been 28 years ago. So I came out with a character almost 28 years ago. I have I had the storyline, the official storyline came out um about five years ago. And then it's been and it's been written. Now I have a schedule in which I'm gonna draw that book, but it's all broken down into a very easy schedule. But the whole thing is is that I just now am starting on this 28 years later. So my advice to anyone starting a story is first like just do it as fast as possible. So you don't take 26 years to do the idea, and also break it down little by little because if you do it that way, you'll know what completion looks like on certain parts of the process, and that's what I'm doing right now. And it's funny because it's like I've been an artist for a long time, but I'm still at 43 years old this year, learning a lot as far as how to storytell with visuals, how to do comic boarding and stuff like that. And it's it's funny because it's like I feel very, very experienced in one facet, but I'm very, very new in a lot of other ways. But it is a lot of fun, it's a lot of fun, and I think was it Tolkien started in his 40s, I think when he started like getting popular with Lord of the Rings and stuff. I don't know, but that's my guy. But I love Lord of the Rings, so you can't be like, oh well, it's too late for me to create. It is not yeah. I mean, honestly, I'm not comparing myself to Tolkien, but uh I started podcasting in my 40s, started jujitsu in my 40s. Yeah, so exactly. I mean, take care of yourself, do what you gotta do, man, and you know, reach for your goals, and then jump back in. Reach for the stars. I'm going beyond the stars into the nebulous, though. You gotta go with stars aren't gonna have nebulas where they're at, where it's at. Yeah, man. Hey, have you ever drawn a character and was like, nah, this came from something else, yo, somewhere else. Like um sometimes when I'm sketching like accidentally, I'm like, that was crazy. But for the most part, and this is kind of good. It's I I see that it's like, oh, I I I drew that. That that was good. I I did that because there are a lot of times I think when artists themselves have um what they call uh muse? No, um I did was it uh imposter syndrome imposter syndrome, yeah. So I was like, no, no, no, you did that, you did that artwork, you did that. Like I feel like you can channel some like energy sometimes and you come out with some good stuff, but like for the most part, you you do the work. You you're not, you know. I think it's important to have that outlook that yeah, you do you do the work, you give yourself credit, because it does you got like artists, some artists have issues with their confidence enough. They need they need to have um uh assurance that they're doing a good job. So yeah, there you go. Screaming Luda. Nice. I don't think you want me to show that into the camera. Wes might get mad. Shout to Wes. Oh Wes yeah, Wes would love it, but yeah. Yeah, well, whenever you're ready, I can I'll uh I'll show it, uh put it closer to the camera. Yeah. Do you have to ever go through like dealing with a publisher in your line of work? Um actually I do. I have uh I'm gonna be doing a couple different covers for a publisher. King Raven is the publisher. His name's David Byrne for HeroesCon. I also just did uh a cover for my friend Chris in his book called Diamonds in the Rough. Um but so yeah, I do I do publisher work uh now, and I think that's the next step for my um professional art career is doing that, is is not only doing um published covers for my own work, but for mainly for like other people's stuff right now, too. So and I think that's important is to get involved in the community like that. Let's say you were about to, you know, you you obviously you can you're a great artist, and you just like I'm gonna actually write a comic book, right? If you didn't have to worry about dealing with a publisher and you had 1,000% freedom, like what story would you tell? The one that I have right now, um, and the what's nice is that you have you can be your own publisher now because of like the format in which the industry is like sweet. Yeah, sweet. Yeah, I was wondering about that. Kickstarter Kickstarter is made it like nice in that regard. The only thing is, is and this is just good advice anyway, is if you start a story campaign or you write a story and you have product with that story, fulfill the product, fulfill the goals. Um, there are certain creators out there that have strung people along for more than two to plus years and have not gotten their product. And these are people that are like industry known people, which blows my mind that they can still kind of show their face in in the in the area where like yo, you you owe this person money, why don't you pay out on it? So it's kind of wild. Give me my money, give me my money. What's that? Felicia? Off of Friday? Uh that came off a Friday. Oh, it's Craya's girlfriend, Felicia's so slightly. Yeah, like the religion, like classic Felicia. What a classic. Hey, let me ask you this whenever you step into a Comic Con, what is it about it that makes you feel like you're in a whole entirely different universe? The all of the storytellers and the artists kind of in one spot because it's like it because that's what you're there for. They're creating like a whole world for you. And so with that, thanks, dude. Yeah, manipulate that. Oh, so with that, it ends up being um cool because that's what you're there for, is like for them to kind of transform you in a different realm. Um, and then connecting with the artists and stuff. That's kind of what what it does for me. What is it about comic-cons that you think are important for the community? Just kind of like a validation that that there's still original ideas that come from the community and that we should support them. And we should support um the arts, which is super important. Um, we don't have to we don't have to like give all of our money to like Disney Plus and things like that. We can we can actually support our peers and stuff like that on a more independent level. You gave me an idea. So what what would it take? Because you know, I'm gonna turn my situation into like an animated series with my comic book character or whatever. Okay. Um, I'm gonna do that and maybe I could create like a what would it be? I mean, I have a platform that independent artists could like post their stuff on it and like go and watch it, right? Or something like that. Sure. Um like I have my own media company, so I could like jump it off. Like, hey, you know what I mean? I could film it. Yeah, I need to get in contact with an animated donor. I would have to, yeah. You know something? I mean, uh, I've sure maniac. I actually, you know, I mean, I could talk, I could talk to a couple people that just got a deal, but um, yeah, no, there's sky's limited, man. You gotta take it where you want to, especially if you got a good idea. Yeah, man. I I feel so bad for the people that are out there that have that creative muscle, but it's just dead right now, it's just so suppressed. And it's like for me, man, like when mine was suppressed, it was like just screaming to get out, and it would from time to time. Yeah, like back in the day, I was like freestyle, or even like me like drawing with my daughter. I'm like, no, I can kind of I can't off the top of the dome. I'm not good at that, but like looking at a picture and recreating it, man. I'm alright. That's cool. I'm gonna have to show you sometime. Yeah, yeah. I'd love to see that. Yeah, the proof is on the pudding, as I say. It's and it's it's I think it's work. I think it's just showing up, like still doing it over and over again. Gotta get the reps, baby. Got to get the reps, though. And whatever you're doing, whatever your craft is. Yeah, man. We need to go to Colorado, man. You gotta oh, fun. The rocks are red. It's gonna be the rocks are red out there, and wait, what? I made that up just I like that. My brain directly went to like cow shit and the fact that they come from cow shit sometime. Um yeah, man, I I saw something, heard something, man. Like, there's a lot of research up on Abigain, which is a psychoactive psychedelic compound. I don't know. I'll take out that psychoactive. I can edit it, but whatever, I'm correcting myself. And it's gonna be very helpful for like veterans, man. Anybody with like post-traumatic stress disorder. It's like a regular high success rate. So they you said they took out the psychoactive part? Oh, I don't, I mean, I know it's or I know it has psychedelic properties, but it's not like you're going on a fun trip. Or well, there were something that reads. I guess I can Google it, right? Well, I was I was just gonna say, I think there was something I read where they they did a process in which they took the psychoactive part out and they were able to do a um effective treatment, which would be cool. Hey, you know me, right? I'd be like, sweet. Hey, you know me. Oh, I I Email uh Stanford University. That's what they this one article was I had found on like the studies of it, man. I'm trying to interview one of those are you down with Sedira Scientific Geniuses and get some real information out here to the public, dog. Get to the source. That's what we gotta do. Get to the source. Get to shout out to Primal. We gotta get back Primal, man. Tooth and Fame. That ain't right. Spear and Fame. Stupid. Spear and Fame. My two favorite characters of all time in animated. That's cool. Yeah. I don't know. No, there that's um that was a good. That was a I I have to watch the rest of season one, but yeah, so far. So very intense and awesome. Do you think the comic-cons are more about fandom or people really being seen? Depends on which con. Um fandom for a lot of them, people being seen at places like Heroes Comic-Con because um there should be a Comic-Con that's primarily just for independent creators, and I feel like there's a lot that have become uh pop culture. Like, for example, you have some that have world wrestlers or old actors like Erica Estrada from Chips. It's like, well, you don't associate Erica Estrada with comic books, you associate them with chips, and so yes, it's cool to meet people like that, but um I feel like you're not there for that, you're there for like I got to meet the artist of The Simpsons, and we got to have a cool talk, and that's cool. Um, because then you get to talk to the greats, and and that's what inspires you to like keep going and doing cool stuff, you know. That's the point, that's the point of them, in my opinion. Some and then there's times when I feel like they don't they they serve and don't serve people. Sometimes there's people that are like, well, I don't, you know, get the value out of it. It's like, okay, well, get get what you need and get out, right? I mean, I don't know. I mean, like, I'm also not one that like I can't stand negativity, right? I can't stand complaining. It drives me crazy. And if you're criticizing, please make it constructive. Yeah, exactly. Like, like my like my wife is uh medical illustrator in some cases. She's she's a better artist than I am, and I from time to time I show her my artwork, I'm like, hey, check this out. And she'll critique me and she'll be like, Oh, that that's some rookie stuff right there. And not once am I ever like, oh, oh no, why did you say that? It's like I know it's always coming from a place of love. She's also like always backs it up by saying, Here's why it's rookie stuff, and here's how you can correct it, and then I take off, and then I get better, and if I don't, then I quit. Hey, you may be like about something just now, or about 15 seconds ago. Yeah. Some people say never meet your heroes, but it sounds like from your perspective, it's like a positive thing to meet your heroes. Sometimes, yeah. So I I met I met uh I've met a handful of people that are my heroes that I'm like, cool. I think people morph and evolve over time. Sometimes you don't like them over time, right? So you're just like, oh, they suck now, right? But like that's what happens with friends too. Sometimes you're like, oh, that person sucks now. Meet people, but definitely meet your heroes, yeah, because they could suck, they could not suck, and that's the better thing. That's like, oh, that's the part that's can surprise you. That because that's my whole thing, too, is it's like don't have a jaded view on it. Like, look, people are gonna suck, people are not gonna suck. Everybody has a day, everybody has a day. Every dog has a day, every dog has a day, and secondly, like you're you're not perfect. You know, you're I mean you're I don't want to be human. I don't want to be. I'm a human being. Hey, who do you who do you think my uh my hero is? Your hero? I think your hero is um just realized. I think your hero is Billy Jean. No, man. The legend of Billy Jean. No, that movie is so fire. Did you watch it? Y'all still ain't watched it? I have to watch Billy. Watch it mine, and I have to watch Rock and Roller. Rock and Roller, yeah. I'm my own hero, man. Cause like what I went through, man, and like where I'm at now, and looking at the horizon, you know, with the strength from my faith and the discipline from jujitsu, man. Like, you know. And I do have some heroes out there though. Like my coach, he's one of my heroes. I get my I get my my uh my hero from Juju Juju Jesus. Uh shout out to Joey Dean. Shout out to Juju Jesus. Yeah, man. Um totally not see. Hey, what was going on with the the garage project? What you had going on? So I have a plethora of different Halloween decor. Plethera is an understatement. Plethera. All bold and italics. And so next year we're no this year we're gonna be doing uh putting motors, motors in things that are gonna be moving. They're gonna be reaching out, reaching out, and touching someone. And we're back. Yeah, I actually helped you this past Halloween, put up some stuff, man. Yeah, I tried to help at least. We had a reaper. We had the reaper, and um, what else did you have about the we had a spider or something? Wait, it was a witch. It was a witch. When we get the witch up there, don't fear the reaper. So let's get back to the comics, man. Um, I do want to go to Colorado, but we could have talked about Colorado without mentioning those. Um hey, what is it about the comic culture that like everybody can just like 100% fully just be themselves, yo? It's like it's just there's no judgment, right? It's a lot of places and people that say that, but I think legit comic-cons, man, y'all always all love our community. You know what I'm saying? Like, everybody got a drunk uncle, what's up? Yeah, no, no, I think that's true. Everybody does have a drunk uncle. You gotta do the law of averages in any community where you get the drunk uncle in any anywhere. Like I said, you know, if you can't be like jaded and you're like, oh, little this is a crap business and it's hard business. It's like everything's hard. Everything in life is hard. There's gonna be hard things in any facet. So hard people to deal with is gonna be in every any facet of business, including comic books, I think. But I do feel a lot of love. I think it's also about that is that when you have that right attitude, you attract those kind of people. So you do have that community of love and support and stuff like that. Um, I feel like as I've been moving along in my own creative journey, the support that I've got is majority of it's people that have been earnestly supportive of me and what I do because I've met them along the way in comic book collecting communities, and at no point did I ever push my stuff to people. I was just saying, hey, this is what I like and I'm interested in, and they liked it too, and they're a supporter, and that's cool. That's cool when you get that. Now that community was built over the course of I mean, really, probably over the course of maybe a little over 10 years or whatever. So it takes time to build and stuff like that. It's not something that you ever have to like, and that's the other thing, too, is like I I wouldn't go into it thinking that you have to know what the results are gonna be, just be after it, just keep going and don't stop. And however, wherever your journey is, don't compare, especially if it's a creative journey. Put the blinders on, right? Yeah, yeah, absolutely, absolutely. Yeah, yeah. But I think sometimes it maybe could be humbling, though. Like if you had like a North Star, like somebody that you'd be like, dang man, they really inspired me, man. Like I started this podcast because of Blank. Or I'm gonna say I started because of any one person. That's not why I started this, but when I first started watching podcasts, I was like, yo, this is pretty interesting. Like, it's awesome. You're just chilling, shooting shit, talking about getting on the boat. You know what I'm saying? Hey, if you're in the uh Lake Kiwi, Lake Wiley, you in the Greenville area, you're looking for a boat, go to uh Holly D1 Automotive, Matthew Jordan Draws, he'll get you taken care of. It's warming up, everybody trying to get out on the lake and have a good time, just be safe out there while y'all out there. Yeah, man. Lake Wiley is a fun day. Boop boop. Hey, I don't like the fish out there, though. Have we talked about that? No, I'm not gonna leave that on that. I don't want to, I'm not gonna swim out there. Oh man, God forbid, like you swallow some of that water dog, like accidentally. You cannot put a kid in there. Because you know the kids, they they usually typically like at the young age, they'll drink some of them, not drink it, but they'll accidentally swallow it. Do not when it's smelly outside. The first thing I think about is is it the katawa today? Smelling. Hey, check this out. You know, Jason Boorhees could be out there. Why would I Jason Boorhees is not happy? I'll love them out though. Him, Michael Miles, Freddie, they all in there with the city. Why Jason Voorhees goes around killing? Is that he's he's sludging around in that nastiness. Bro, I'm gonna say something like some real shit level shit, all right. Uh Xavier Bermudez, man. What's up, bro? Shit level shit. He posted he posted like a story or a clip, and it was the it was like him doing different fights, different fights, different segments of his uh past fights and whatnot. But the the the music uh audio was Jason's mama talking to him. Like, you're my fine boy, go kill them, or whatever. It was so fire, dog. That was such a fire post. Yo, what's up, bro? Keep doing what you're doing. That's funny, dude. Have you ever met somebody that connected with your art deeper than you expected? Like he was like, You didn't maybe I'm assuming you probably don't have expectations. Maybe it can't maybe kind of just caught you off guard, like, damn, they really connected with me on this, man. Like, I had it, I had one that um that I did that I thought was garbage that people were like, oh, that's really good. And that's surprising. Because I'm just like, I don't want to throw this away, and they're like, No, it you it's so good, and I'm just like, why? And then there's like because it has because it reached out to them in some way. I I don't know. So like that's that's always fun. It's when you create something and they like and you but like you, and like you don't you don't care, you don't like uh, and then they're like, oh, oh, they hang on to it, and they're like, all right, well, hey, yeah, before we started recording, I believe it was before we started recording, we was talking about like different people asking for art, like yo, you just drop me a picture or whatever. But you said I wasn't like that. Like, can you kind of explain like the difference between people that like want art that don't really appreciate it versus the ones that do, and how you can discern or distinguish between the two? Okay, so you can probably read this shit fairly quickly, right? So, yeah, what we were talking about is is uh is like etiquette and how like you have good etiquette in that you value people's time and in in a transaction like that. And so when so when you're like you're asking about say, for instance, a commission or something like that, you're making sure that I'm giving you the the quality the quality you want, and making sure I'm putting in the time versus whatever the cost is. And so some people don't think about that. And so I think that because it's not a flaw, some people are just uneducated about it. This is actually a good thing to talk about. Um I think it's important that that the artists or creators have a good boundaries and a good set list of what their expectations are. One could be like if you're doing a commission, um, and this is something that I learned that was kind of a good practice, is take 50% up front and then take the rest of the 50% after the commission is complete. And that way it's kind of a security deposit for you, but also, you know, you're you're you're completing it still. So as far as like, and that's just an example of like just good good forms of business. Um not that I'm asking to be treated differently than anybody else, but since can I pay you 11% per week? 11% per week. You wanna I'll put you on the finance company deal. For you anything, Sidero. I'll probably cut you off, bro. What were you about to say? I wasn't saying anything. I was actually done. Or but no, it's uh but yeah, I think it's good to know, like, know good practices like that for people who may not know etiquette, not everybody is, and there's gonna be the people that are just a little more challenging to deal with than others. Well, brother, we're promoting you and your stuff. So, how would somebody go about getting you to commission for them? Yeah, you go to artist artistmatis.com, artistmatavis.com, and there's an uh place in there where you can fill out a form where it says get a commission. It'll pop up and say commission me. Oh, right there. I have I have it capable of asking you. You can follow me at um at and I'd gotta this isn't the end of the podcast, bro. No, I know. I just a quick reminder of for me, really, because I we've only just begun. Matt Davis, R5280. And you might know wonder why it's 5280 because I'm from Denver, Colorado, and that's 5,280 miles in the air from sea level, a mile high. Hey bro, I'm gonna have to get like some wireless headphones or something because this like double dutch or jump rope is kind of killing me, man. So this is the idea that I have, though. You know, I got some pictures up. I'm definitely not gonna take Uncle Joey or the locks down. But like those other two spots, man, I could like put something up though, right? Oh, I'm gonna do it. Yeah, I could get my camera and I could like take pictures, you know, what up, make it, it's already gonna look good, but it's gonna be professional as far as the uh camera work goes, videos or whatever. Like I got some ideas to get like you can post one up there or put one up there, and then I could be just selling it or attempting to sell it for you, or however that works. I think that'd be a good idea, bro. Yeah, all right. I got some ideas. I definitely want a full metal alchemist join up there, though. Ooh, and um now, I'm not, you know, obviously, like we just talked about etiquette, but uh just let me know what I need to do to get that going. All right, you know, we yeah, so I guess whenever you're ready, bro, because we already talked about it. So it's like the seed has been planted. I just sprinkle a little bit of water on it, organic fertilizer, and we oh, speaking of, though, I got some kiwi berries growing out there. Really? I'm gonna show them to you when we leave, when you when you head out, dog. But like, yo, I got a lot of them on there, man, and we beyond the uh frost. Well, you know, I might speak too soon, you never know. It might be a blizzard. How fast to yield that? It's gonna take a while, man. And then like last year, they got it was only like three of them that was that survived, and then like it got stunted. Oh, gotcha. But I'm supposed to like apparently I'm supposed to put like fruit fertilizer on it like a few times during the you know the growth period. Interesting. I might need to do it like now and then do it again, but I kind of just let it go, let it figure it out on its own, man. Yeah, you know, with that my with the mycelium, maybe they can allocate the resources to it. Uh if it's meant to be, it'll be right, right. I also got that granny Smith apple tree out there that's blooming. I'm really gonna show that to you. Ooh, okay. Shout out my nephew Ja Quincy. If I if I get an apple, if I get one apple, well, I can't say I'm gonna give it to you. I'll let you and Lyric split it though. How about that? You know what I'm talking about? Yeah, man, I miss my nephew. Um hey, if a hero loses everything, but keeps their principles. Are they winning? Yeah, I think so. Yeah, it's all about maintaining the principles. Yeah, because then they're they're not, you know, bent by their circumstances. That's the whole point. They're not losers at that point. They're gonna be able to do that. Yeah, man. I mean, Spawn was vicious, though. They need to bring that back. Matter of fact, it's always been matched. I ain't trying to get shit for free, but Jamie Foxx is is supposed to reprise him. It's gonna be trouble, trouble. You ever seen the players club with Ice Cube and uh AJ Johnson? AJ Johnson was easy on Friday, by the way. Really? Yeah, man. Bernie Mack was in it. And Jamie Foxx, of course. Yeah, it's an old school joint dog. Yeah, dog. I'm gonna start, man. I can't wait till I get to the excuse me. I can't wait till I get to the point where I'm comfortable enough to just like sit back and just write scripts all day long. You know, get up, go to the gym, you know what I mean? Work out, whatever. Do what I gotta do, just write scripts, eat along the way. Like pain. Whatever, then trying some jujitsu dog. Just go through like a movie writing script uh stage. That'd be fun. I'm like, I I mean, I really want to get with some people and do this shit all like bad. I might have to get you, I might have to get you connected with our buddy uh Seb Jones, the dude who does Stranger Comedy. Seph who Seph Jones! He's the one who got his Niobi into a cartoon. Oh shit. And oh yeah, who's gonna be another by the way? The female? Who is it? Oh well. Yeah, the actor. Actress. Is it actor or actress? Oh, that's not even going down there right now. I don't know who's gonna be the actress or the voice actor. Oh well, no, it's um I think about somebody else, a different comic book. No, no, no. It's uh so beautiful Violet Davis is the one funding the animation project. So shout out to uh Viola Davis. Yeah, and shout out to comedian Godfrey, bro. You come to Charlotte in June, I'm gonna come see you again, dog. He killed the stage. Comedy's on. Yeah, I gotta check that one out. Well, yeah, go ahead. I'm sorry. Viola Davis is funding the animation. Animation for um the untamed and Niobi uh my buddy Seb Jones, Stranger Comics. Uh, and he has a Kickstarter out right now. So go to that. Right now, I kind of wish I had a clone because I would run into my bedroom and grab the book, but it's online, right? The untamed sinner's prayer. Check it out. It's a good book. It's a story of redemption. This is let me ask you this. Is it a greater story if the the hero says like everybody? Or like the world, right? Or if they just say like one person. I mean, I would say it depends on context, I guess. Bro, and if you throw sacrificing, if they sacrifice themselves for one person, that's the automatic one, right? I mean, yeah, but it's like in how many people is it saving, and what's the what's the context, right? I was about to sacrifice for the greater good. I would say that's probably where I would lead with is like what's like the greatest good that I can get about. And you know something I realized? You can't lose yourself trying to save others. You you shouldn't. Some people do. Try not to stay mindful of what you got going on and what you're like stay mindful about what you're doing it for. You know what I'm saying? I'm talking about self too at the same time. Yeah, self- this like these are self-meditations for me too. I love this, man. It's so therapeutic. That's good. We can edit. I watch this Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, George, damn, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana. Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New Mexico, New York, North. Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Wyoming. Yeah, I butchered that, but I know them joints. And you know why I know them joints? Because when we was going to school, shout out to I can't remember. Maybe our music teacher, bro. Like, it's the 50-nifty United States. Yeah. No, I'm all in alphabetical order. That should be tied at every school. There's also uh And it's dope too, the jump rock. I butchered it. I'll probably edit that out because I want to actually put out a video on the page. Did you ever did you ever watch the Animatiacs one? The Pinky and the Brain, Brain. It was like where he's like, uh Hold on, who what? Well, uh, what's this? Uh the Animatia X. Where yeah, where Yako was like, uh well, it was no, it was the countries of the world, City of Venoma. Oh yeah. I was like, anyway I'm gonna remember, but I I that does ring a bell. Like sincerely, it rings a bell. Oh my goodness. Hey, what's more important, like a hero's power or his restraint, his or her restraint? Restraint. Right. Restraint. That's why I love jujitsu. I swear every time I get on here I'll talk about jujitsu. Dude, well, I feel like that's real, that's real, that's a real applicable, you know. It's a good, it's a good practice. It's that's that's coming from somebody who has I mean, I do have a decent amount of friends that are in jujitsu. Yeah, and that I don't do jujitsu every week. So hold on one second. Un momento points. It's and once again, it's Uruguay in Paraguay. Uruguay. I know people be out there, man, I'll take this shit serious, bro. I want to make sure I try to inspect. Like I tell my daughter, no, it's not a Chinese restaurant, like let's it's the same Asian cook, like Asian restaurant, or it could be like a Thai place, Vietnamese here you go. So Yakos. It could be a Chinese restaurant, but don't just categorize every Asian uh there you go. Just for context. That's what I was talking about. Um Sidero. More work I gotta do though. What do you think about this whole multiverse thing? That's going on in like Marvel and also I wasn't talking about I wasn't gonna talk about Marvel. I was gonna talk about real life. I was gonna talk about the thing that's been scaring me for a long time. What's up, man? This has been scaring me since 2009 when I first said something about the it show we watched. No, no, no. But still I was still crazy. Oh, you've been serious. But no, yeah, I was I was gonna say uh like, but yeah, on seriousness, like since 2009, I've been scared of the Hadrone Collider particle splitter. And when I read about that, and then how they're like talking about like messing with like multi, like, like just dimensions and sh stuff like that, and it's like alright, like did did did you guys do something to the multiverse? Because things are a little crazy right now and a little topsy turvy. That made me think about that movie, uh The Mist. Oh man, I hate that movie. That was a tough one. I don't like that one, bro. Like that'll never mess with you for a little while. Punisher makes makes his kid die and and makes his other lady die. Oh yeah. He's like, oh, he unalived. He unalived both of them, and then he's like, oh, now I'm gonna unalive myself. Oh, we're oh, we're getting saved. We're getting saved. If you made your own universe, right? What would you do differently to break the rules compared to what everybody else is doing? Well, how would you stand your universe out? How would it stand out and be different? There'd be a distinct difference between you would know it's Matt, so it's the guy that that that was wearing the steel ill. Mother flappers would be able to fly. It's everybody flying. No, no flying cars. No, you would have no need for that. Everybody just can fly. You know what? On the so on the news, aerodynamics. I know, but here's what would happen as a result of that. It's so it would kind of suck though, because you have problems in other facets. Donkeys, ladies and gentlemen. Asses. Fuckers would run into each other in mid-air. So it would be like, hey, we had 50 accidents today, people-to-people accidents. And it would just be people would be just whacking into each other. Concussion after concussion. It would be a new movie about concussion. Which movie nothing cast. You can't fly while I fly. I just realized that. Yeah. So you would be whacking people on a regular basis. You would have to that's the first time. Every episode I've been done. I might just say Paul. I never did one on this specific. So Matt Davis's world would have flying people with flying people problems. It would be a flying people problem world in which people would be. So this is a comic book concept, just in and of itself, is that we have a flying world that people get killed all the time because of flying flying accidents. People it wouldn't be like no air traffic control. Because you wouldn't have a wait, wait time. That's why we're thinking about those. You would have air traffic control. You know, you got you got the you got the lights, do all the red light, green, light, yellow light, and all that. You got people that programmed it to be timed at a certain be something in the sky? Yeah, so yeah, you remember and could they go into the what's it called? A stratosphere, whatever? Like could they breach the ozone and get up to the people? They might die up there. Well then they could they could if they have like a is it coded? A breathing apparatus or something. Yeah, you can have like a body, you can have like a bodysuit or something. How would that give them the ability to fly? Like does something happen or is this just you just end it and that's how it happens? Like how how are they able to fly? Inertia? Lack of gravity. Like I mean, like I can I can propel myself up. I keep thinking about invisible. But think about think about think about this though. If people are whacking into each other, you have instead of like having like the police, like traffic police, you have more like like a hall monitor concept because it's like people are like, no running in the hallway, like no flying, like you're like like you have a whistle or something. And how fast could you fly if you're flying 100 miles per hour? No, too fast, you could die, right? Have you you seen the boys? Yeah, remember he goes right through that dude's girlfriend? Yeah, that's messed up, dude. Yeah, gross. Yes, sir. That would happen on a regular basis in my world where people would fly. Oh, then you have mushrooms on this planet. Oh god. Can you imagine if you have like yo sonic? When uh uh what's I know? What's his name? Dr. Egg or whatever? Um Sonic, what's his name? Dr. Robotnik. Dr. Robotnik, but he he was on that mushroom planet, though. That was so awesome. Yeah, man. Really? Lion's mane, though. I I just I love him, man. That's I'm trying to I need to get back on cordyceps. I don't I don't have lion's mane right now. I gotta go back and get some lion's mane. I need to go back and get some kombucha. You want some, man? Okay, for now. We should make our own kombucha. What I want to do is I mean, I know I'm assuming that kiwi grows better in hotter climates, but like I would like to have a kiwi farm. A lot of kombucha, the main ingredient is like kiwi juice. You know what I'm saying? Plus, they got a bunch of vitamin C though, like more vitamin C than like oranges and shit. We'll call it Sidero Nose. No, that name ain't gonna be in it. Drink that shit. We'll call it that stuff. Do you remember? Do you remember um watch Tropic Thunder? Man, hell yeah. Remember when they had the was it the the the Busta Nut bar and the the fake products that they were like like uh Busta Nut juice or something. Um the black dude? Yeah, doing like the rap videos and stuff, yeah yeah. There's some good music. Hey bro, the music in that joint. Yeah, there's some good music in that. When they make like funny music, but it's actually good. That was good. Oh, that was a good one. Good gracious, man. Um being still a dog playing that road. Oh, god, he went full fill in the blank. That was hilarious, man. Yeah, that was good. I was like, you never go fill in the blank. Fill in the blank. We get uh uh uh he said that was part of a song, right? Let's get let's get restarted. Let's get restarted. Is it restarted or retarded? Let's get restarted in here. That's what it I don't need no offense to. That's what it is now technically. He's a little restarted. He's a little for like everybody's on the spectrum, right? I'm on the spectrum of awesome. Isn't this interesting, man? Like you mentioned energies earlier, though. I'm awesome. Tystic there's a good show uh on Netflix called Atypical. He had the penguins. Is it the penguins? No, am I thinking about Dr. Robot and it being Jim Carrey in that penguin movie? Getting my wives crossed to get your watch out listeners. I wonder if anybody's still listening. Probably not. They don't care about us. But what's a trope in comics that you like secretly love? Even if it's like overused. Trope and comics that I secretly love. Yeah. Just watching whole families get desecrated. I'm just kidding. And then the res and then the revenge story behind it. No, I'm just kidding. Like Punisher. I was about to say, dog. That uh the one that was on Netflix, like the original, you know, my man, um what's his name? The one that was on Netflix and did it. The series. He was he played in The Walking Dead and shit. Very good show, man. Everything he does. Yeah, like Primally. I rocked with my guy right here, John Bernthal. Oh, that dude's awesome. I hope I get to meet him one day, man. I got I I was in his vicinity at a Comic Con, but he was talking to somebody. Not even father. He's a great actor. It ain't even about that. He just I can tell he's real, man. He's a real one. I've I've heard him on podcasts and stuff like that. Yeah, I can tell he is. Excellent actor, though. I can tell he is I can tell he's a real one too. Yo. Um, the person who is not, I wouldn't say not a real one, but Norman Reedus. He's kind of a dream donor. Hey, what are you doing? I don't want him pulling up on me on that motorcycle with uh the crossbow. Yep. What was it earlier you said the zombie what? The female zombie joint? What was the term you used? Zombie tramp. Zombie Tramp is a cool um comic book by Damendez uh it's still ill comics. So um it's a it's a like a pinup zombie with tickle bitties. How do you feel when somebody comes up to you? Punch them in the face. Yeah, sincerity. No shit. They like really they give you a great authentic down-to-earth. Yep. Just play to gratitude about how much they appreciate your art. Like, how does that make you feel? Initially, uh it at first I had to get used to it. It didn't feel like I deserved it. Is that when you the imposter syndrome kind of? It's not. Like it for me, it's not. Like I feel like I like I feel like I do my work and stuff like that, but I feel like I don't know. Like I because I haven't gotten a lot of praise over the years, there's aspects where I'm like, I don't feel like oh you should be like praising me that much. But it's but but now that I've I know where it's coming from, I'm able to receive it a lot better. And so now if you're asking me now what you are, I I I I love it. I love it, yeah. And it's like it's it's really cool because it's like like even when you were asking, like, did your art affect anybody in a way you didn't expect? And the answer is yes, and I love I love that too. It's like it's really cool to see that um based on something you did. You know, I actually wanted a Silock over there. I I don't know how that works. A what? Silock. Yeah, her name Silock. The you're talking about the picture of the Children of the Adam, X-Men, Children of the Adam, the video game. I don't know if she was in that. Your drawing of Silock. I'm trying to think. Yeah, you like sending it's on it's online, I think. Yeah, yeah, she's in the video game. I didn't know she was in that one. Children of the Adam? Dungo Song Mirage, whatever. Which I used to say my cousin's name, but I'm gonna say it's a government name. You know what I'm talking about. If you listen to this episode, we used to play the hell out of that game. Oh, that shit was fire. I'll thought check that out. Yeah, because like they had some really good X-Men games. I probably played it, but yeah, Silock. Um, yeah, I'm gonna be doing um Silock prints of that, uh, of what you're talking about. So we're gonna have some some fun prints of that, and I'm gonna be doing some other fun little X-Men inspired prints coming up. We need to make a whole nother universe at this point, dog. Now it just hit me. Let's get make a universe of people just flying around. That's what you want to do. We can make it funny, and we can probably a lot of people want to. With our minds, dog. Do you just want to call it people flying around? Let's just call it something crazy like that. Yeah, like people flying around. Yeah. Oh my god. It's funny. It's a funny angle. We can if we have people just just getting hurt on a regular basis because they can fly. And they still know what people are doing out here on the street, man. I just cracked. I like I literally hate driving. It's getting more congested in Rock Hill. They're building up these new apartments and shit. Well, when I I'm sick. When I moved to Rock Hill, I found it fascinating that people don't use their horns because they don't want to get shot. And I just adopted that rule. Like, I'm like, okay. And I never I've never gotten threatened, but I've never used my horn either. Yeah, man. I remember, man. And I'm just like, what? My friend Barbie, I used to work with, she sent me, I think she sent this to me, man. Like, yeah, like right off of that, because it was new where I work at, or I used to work at right off the interstate in Charlotte, right? Uh somebody has shot somebody or something happened involving an arm. Crazy. A weapon, you know what I'm saying? A GAT, a pistola. You know what I'm talking about? But anyway, and like it was up a road rage, man. That's crazy. So nah, ain't blowing my horn. I'll blow my horn at somebody if I feel like you know what I'm saying. It's it's warranted, sure. But it if just to blow it, no. Oh, I know. I'm gonna start putting mine. I can't put it like I'm just gonna. I need to get one of them joints for the uh the GPS because I can just stick it right there. We call it the little things. The oh the uh one off an Amazon. Yeah, yeah. I need like a little dash. Let me ask you this. So if the whole like comic culture like disappeared tomorrow, what was the first thing on your priority list that you would fight for, bring back? That you would fight for, bring back. To fight for or to bring back if it like probably the ability to do indie to and to do indie indie comic books. I would like to do just to do books. I don't know, like I would I would think it would be like a an opportunity to like a do-over source. I got a question. Do people do book on tapes? Well they do it on Audible. Yeah. I don't know, actually. I would like to uh redo that for people. That would be a some voiceover for some stuff. If you know anybody that needs some voiceover, I don't have the worst voice, and it's definitely not the best. And I hate you you have uh hearing myself talk. Yeah, you have a good voice. What are you talking about? Well, I'm saying I want to get in some voiceover stuff. That was one of my main objectives in the beginning. That joint slipped through the cracks. I was supposed to do like a demo. Why don't you do that? And I never did it. I'm sitting here talking about it right now. Like I'm not even. You could do like uh you could do like like gargoyles. Yo, I can do some gargoyles. Oh my goodness, man. Can you do any impersonations? Gargoyles, bitch. That's a throwback right there. I'm Goliath bitches. Dow that David the Gnome? Did you ever watch David the Gnome? Yes, I love David the Gnome. Like, that's uh, you know, I'm giving them the credit, man. I'm gonna like like that and Captain Planet. I got some ideas I want to do though. Like a little uh children's book and do that, make that into an animated series as well. Eureka's castle. Absolutely, yeah, man. Nickel Nick Nick wasn't Nick at Knight, that was Nickelodeon. Nickelodeon. That was Nick, that was Nick James. Frazzle Rock, Fragle Rock. Frazzle Rock. It was I used to watch Is it Frazzle or Fraggle Rock? Did you ever watch the joint? Oh, it was like uh like the brother's grim. And I'm talking about like we watched this in elementary school, and it was scary. Like it was a one dude that was a soldier that met death, and I guess death in the bag. Once he opened the bag, like everybody around him died or something like that. Then it was one about Cinderella, it was kind of scary though, though. It was like the brother's grim, like a throwback joint, dog. Vicious. And then what was the one with Clyde Clyde the Frog? See my cuz. I can't wait till he do the podcast. It was a Clyde the Frog jump off going on back then. You know what I'm saying? You said Animaniacs, Animaniacs, dude, Ren and Stimpy. Let's go. Doug, all that. I met I met the uh creator of Ren and Stimpy. Oh yeah? Yeah, his name's um Bob Stimp. I love I love the animation on that dog. Bob Camp used to live in Chester. He said Chester sucked. He said he's talking about Chester, South Carolina? Yeah. And I'm like, yeah, it does suck. Chester sucks. I don't know. I ain't really got no comment on Chester. Why? You just bashing everybody today, dog. Me? Yeah. Good people, though. So good people, I'll list them off. Uh and in in the NBA, Alvin Alan Iverson. He's cool, I like him. Uh Chauncey Bills. Yeah, because you was out of Colorado. Yeah. Chauncey Bills is cool. So yeah, this is because I live in Colorado. Um George Carl, the coach, old coach of the Nuggets. He is cool. I shook hands with him at a gas station. Did you tell me you met John Elway? It did not meet John Elway. He gets that's a tough one. Hey, bro, I find motivation in crazy places. Like sometimes I get motivated to like want to make more money so I can bless Wait Staff more. Yeah. Like I want to be able to just throw money at him. Exactly. I don't want to go to a strip club, but I throw some money at some weight staff. Respectfully, I hand it to him. I went through it. If you see what I'm saying, I would hand it to him. Well, but yeah, though, I love blessing them, man. I got it like that. They deserve it, man. People don't even think about they don't appreciate their time and the preparation for all that and dealing with everybody. They got their own personal issues going on. Um hey, what y'all did at the gym today, man? I saw you win, though. I got are we good for the day? We are good. Oh, yeah. We didn't even like cross paths really like that, but we was connected in though, though. You know what I'm saying? Jody, the the trainer, um, she was all like, she's like, What you got going on? I was like, Oh, I was like, we're doing a podcast later. She's like, Oh, okay. It's like, yeah. Oh, but get this. Did you tell her the name of the podcast? Dappen Hug? Did you tell her? Yes, of course I did. I tell everybody about this stuff because it's a big deal. It's the only part. I think it's a really big deal, man. I thank you to uh my my true audience members who be supporting me, man. Well, get this. All right, you know, please share. And please share and subscribe. And because he's doing big things, definitely subscribe, he's doing big things with the community. He cares about the community, and he loves your business. So I just want to help people. You just want to help. But it's funny, like I had said on one of my podcasts, boy, like everybody don't want your help or need it, or don't see the value in it. But you gotta, but everybody don't want your help, though. You gotta be real. Oh, for sure. You gotta think about like the word reciprocation, right? You can they can go like weight. I'm gonna go ahead and just take these off. They could go like in a lot of directions, man, but like. Uh-huh. You just gotta just be careful out there if you're a business owner or a human being in general. Just protect yourself, man. Like, don't set yourself up like to be expecting that reciprocation from everybody. Before you rickety wreck yourself. But I never really did. Before you check yourself. I think. Well. But yeah, man. So listen, the whole Colorado thing, though, like whenever we go, like I want to do some fishing and shit too. You don't you trout fish out there? Mm-hmm. You can go uh rainbow, rainbow trout fishing. There's some really cool spots that you can go like right on the river bank. It's a lot of fun. We don't have to go out there and like step into it, which I don't mind doing it. That's why I do it. I get in there for get me wrong, but but you don't have to do that. Fishing from the bank with some trout sound pretty awesome. But even more awesome being on a damn rock. In the river, like on the rock, like the river right there, dog. Like one dog. Do you want to go? Shout out, man. Actually, carry in town. Over the rock. Yeah, I need to see him, dog. My guy. So it all started, man, that camping trip. Actually, I guess it started when I was born. Yeah, officially. I was like, Mama, or like ma or something. Like I said that when I was birthed. How do you say birth? Birth. I can't say that. When I came about the wound, got the podcast mic, man. Sweet girl on my shoulders. She ain't on my shoulders no more, though, dog. You know what I'm saying? And it can't be us pushing the rock, dog. She got she's gonna have her own rock. Yeah. Everybody else need to. I can't say what everybody else needs to do, dog. I gotta just focus on what I need to do. Sounds like I gotta update your repertoire. Your your sign. Oh, yeah, it's the OG joint, dog. Put you both up. I would love the um say what? You gonna draw it, you mean? Yeah, that's also like the uh the one I want you to do too, man. Or like this one even more so. I actually do that one as well, but and the comic book. But uh the tree joint, the joint with the tree with the bread I wrote with the mushrooms and the poke salad with the uh with the uh Lyra constellation. I'm gonna tell you something stupid. I didn't I got a tattoo. So I got shout out to uh Siona Dean, she's awesome, bruh. On impulse, I don't know why. I went and got like I got the Kilti Tree right. Yeah. Of life. Nickname Tree, if it's Audible in Espanol. Hey, so this is Vega, so I went for her to touch that up as well, and then to add like a red star to represent like Carolina family jujitsu. Oh, that's cool. So I was just like, I had like the water running and everything. But in my mind, I was like, well, this one came out last night in the bed. So I'll just take this one off. I dropped it, pulled it, fucked it up. I'm gonna let it heal if she's gonna touch it up, dog. I'm like, why did I do that, dog? Could you imagine if I would have done this one? Oh I'd be in pain right now with him. But it actually ain't that actually, man, I'm into the point now, though. I was like, I actually like the pain. But you gotta go through something in life to grow. I'll tell you that shit. Uh it's true, man. I did the 11 hours on my chest. 11 hours. That was a lot. I swear that number 11 would be popping up a lot lately, though. Your number's nine? You want to talk about that? You bet you ready to go? Oh my god, dude. I don't know why. I'm like, I'm like, I just put you on a redneck and choke real quick. I'm just kidding. So no, uh, I know, right? Um, so nine nine is my number because I was born on July 9th, my wife's born on May 9th, we met on November 9th, and then we got married on September 9th. And so all those nines match up. And she's exactly two months older than me. So exactly. So 82, May 82, out of July 82. Yeah. And then our paths collided in a good way. Kaleidoscope. Kaleidoscope. Hey, do you ever do um goblet squats at the gym? I did them today. Why did you put like weights on the floor and put your heels up against them? How did you do the goblet squat? Yeah. Did you use a 45? What weight did you put down to do you? I think I did. No, no, I'm talking about what you put on the floor. I'm not talking about what you had. Oh no, I think I put a 25 on the floor. I put see, when I watched the video, the dude had like a plate, but now I need like a 25 here and a 25 there, right? So that's what I've been doing. You don't like them? No, no, no, no. I'm trying to get rid of my yawn. Like it's okay. Get out of here, dude. Get out of here. I'm not sleepy. My body's stupid. I don't know. Like, it doesn't matter. Nah, you end up getting in the gym today, dog. You've been working in the garage though, for real. So but nah, for real. The goblet squash, man. So I like doing those with some taller, man. I don't think it's as bad on the knees. I like to do those. Yeah, yeah, I like them. Sometimes they're crunchy on my knees. Yeah. But you know what I'm about, man. We can joke around. You know we can joke around. But man, come on, man. You kill me now, though. Like I wanna release. I look at the vibe. Yeah, I feel you. I look at it like this at the end of the day, man. It's like, I don't have any idea of what those guys want to do to get to where they get. You know what I'm saying? Oh, fine, Cedar. Fine. You gotta bring it back to the. No, I'm just saying, but my point is, dog, I respect any MMA fighter, dog. Anybody put on the clips that go out, dog. Include including all the kids. I got respect for everybody. The ones. Especially the ones that's professional, bro. The the ones I lose respect for on the MMA side is when I stop, stop. No, no, no. Just just hear me out. Hear me out. I'm not gonna call out anybody, alright? But I'm talking about It's not part of the tap in the hook series. This is not a part of it. You can this is unedited. No, no, no. I was gonna I was gonna say, do you do you ever watch the the reality shows when they're all like rooming in together and they like upper deck the freaking toilets, and you're like, oh bro, why you gotta be doing that? Like when they do them nasty things to each other, I'm like, come on, guys. What did it do? I'm sorry. I was distracted. Oh, what but it was about the banner. But the UFC is oh I see what you're saying. I was like, damn, did I scrape it or scratch it up against something sharp? And I went and looked at it, was like blocked. Do you remember when the UFC like had the like um the reality shows where the guys with the fighters would like room in with each other and they would do nasty horrible things to each other? Ultimate fighter? Mm-hmm. Ultimate fighter. I don't know. I'm sure I watched some of them and my brain. It was like 2010. I don't know if Brenda Shah was an ultimate fighter. Yes, 100%. If you watch this dog, might send this out as a clip. Man, maybe not, might send it to you as a video, but like you came to Charlotte, bro, that one time. All the fighters that I've got. And you did like a five-minute bit about turkey hunting or something like that. It was funny. Maybe no job took it. But no, I was just saying that um, yeah, majority of like sportsmanship is respectable, but you can do crappy things to each other. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. That's when you're like, nah, don't do that. It's all about respect. Yeah, some people do certain things when they get that pressure put on them, dog, and they like don't know how to react on the pressure. I know, and that's that's not good for dog society. It would be way better if people did stuff to like get past that. You know what I'm saying? But you know, it's a lot of humps and dips and valleys and shit, obstacles, and I don't know. It was something you said earlier that made me start thinking about aliens. The hydron collider, maybe multiverse or something? Was it might be the hydron collider? What you think going on, man? Like as far as like things that people have seen, or even things that you may have seen or experiences. Can you share any of your experiences with like any possible extra restroom or like types of energies that may not be from this dimension? That is a good ass way I put that question. Well, that's a good one. That's a good way. I would say that if I don't have many personal experiences, I would say if I had any, it would be more like dream related. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. In like a like a dark mass like form. Yeah. And like I'll look, but like so, like, I I don't I don't have nightmares. I have like this damn, yeah. I'll get like I'll get angry at like the dark mass or whatever, and I'll try to like confront it. And then Colleen will be like, you're yelling in your sleep again. I have this recurring dream that it's almost like I'm in a video game, but it's not. But it's like a multi-level situation, and it kind of reminds me of like one of them like a setup like Call of Duty or something, one of the levels that you have to play on like multiplayer or something like that. But as far as the way it look, just like wooden and then what do you call it? Scaffolding and stuff like that. It's a house, it's like different layers. I know, I know void he's down there, or whatever it is. No, I'm serious. Yeah, I think I recently had injury. I've had it like a lot of times, but I'm just like just jumping up from level to level, and then it's whatever, but it's weird having recurring dreams. I used to have this one joint. Oh daw. I had a realization. I ain't talking to nobody about this, I don't think. I used to have this dream. I was scared of Freddy Cougar for a while. I love his movies, you know what I'm saying? I still watch them, but you know, I would have dreams about them. It was this one in particular. It was always like this cauldron door, like burnt. Like it's to the broiler room. Yeah, yeah. It's a reference, right? Yeah, yeah. And I go into it, and it was just uh it's wild, all just thinking about it, dog, and like it was like different forms of them. But I was cool with him though. After a while, me and him got cool in my dreams, so I wasn't scared of them no more. But it was that one though, that was always I knew not to go to that one. Like I knew not to go to that area or of the realm because I know it's not good. I'm some real shit, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But then, so back to we was cool. As an adult, probably about a month ago, I was like, him being cool with me and my dreams is not good. I had I was fucking friends with a demon. I had a demon on me this whole fucking time. Seriously. In a way. I mean, I take my dreams like literally sometimes, and also just you know, metaphorically, whatever. But in this specific situation, yes, in a way, in my mind, how I interpret it, because it's like, yeah, with the alcohol and shit. Like I shouldn't be cool in my dreams, try to kill him, Demon Slayer. I watch how like the craziest nightmare night and die. I wake up stabbed up, sliced up and shit. It's afraid of cougar glove in them out of the way. Yeah, hey, it would be anyway. So bad. Jokes, these are jokes. But nah, dog, like for everybody that you're about about the dream, though, dawg. That's crazy, dude. Um, we was cool. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I was like, damn, it's not cool to be cool with a demon, though. You know? I yeah, man, I I get what you're saying. My seriously. My well, and that's what I was gonna say. My my energies and shit, though. This shit all connected in a way. Oh, call me crazy, whatever. No, no, no. I see I hear I see what you're saying. Cause like I'll like I was kind of reflecting that towards the audience too. It's so funny. Not so much to you, yeah, more so like 75% to them. Yeah, 25 to you, reducing the quota. I was thinking about your uh your house, the recurring house thing. I I've been there too. It's kind of crazy. What's over that shit, man? I don't know. Sometimes I can like get around like Spider-Man, bringing him back up. It'd be cool. That's what I'm saying. Getting away from shit. Getting back to the flying, yeah. Oh, flying. Everybody would be flying and swinging. See, I mentioned this on one podcast. You know, I mentioned like Nebula, dog. Like, I've dreamed about just flying through like Nebula and stuff. Beautiful, man. Just like going through different like dimensions in a way, but it's just a dream. But I mean, nobody really knows what happens when you dream. You see like close-up planets and stuff. Yeah, man. I'll be down, I'll be on Earth, dog, and I'd be look up and it'd just be just amazing. Just meteors going everywhere. Like, like, like a galactical, like brawl. It's pretty cool. I've been there. Galactical style. Shout out to Carrie Walter and Colin Anderson and Steven Lunquist, aka Steve O Fucking miss him, dawg. He put me on the dead, dog. That's me and him in the van. Damn, I miss him, bro. Hey, he's out there in Nevada, man. You got some people in Nevada? Yep. Colorado Henderson, Henderson. How far is Colorado Nevada? Uh four or five hours. Road trip. Yeah, yeah. It would be a road trip. It'll be a road trip. Nah, we fly, ain't it? I mean, from here, yeah. You could do a road trip from there, but I don't know. Yeah. But it's just certain people, you know. Pray for them from a distance, man. Yeah. Those that you love. Life's crazy, man. It is crazy, dude. You gotta be crazy to look crazy to deal with life because it's so bonkers, man. So many different variables and shit. So much shit that's not in our control. And that's the shit I'm talking about about people like being able to overcome, like, like pressure come or whatever, or like things start spiraling. You wanna be able to breathe, man. And I don't know, man. I ain't been in a sauna since I got this tattoo. Really? I dog. I was like in a sauna all the time. I gotta get in there, man. But I ain't gonna get I ain't gonna get another tattoo for a minute because it takes away from that and training jujitsu. Oh, that's right. I went to Fundamentals last night. That was awesome. Shout out to Joseph. Love rolling with him, man. And drilling and whatnot. But shout out to everybody in there. So is all your majority of families in Colorado? We need not get into that. I'm sorry I forgot. We may talk about this a couple times. I I do have some in Colorado. I have a lot of friends. He's rude. But you got some peeps on. He was rude. Yeah, no, every um, I got a lot of friends in Colorado. A lot of friends in Colorado. A lot of friends out here now, though. Like you and been able to make quite the quite the community. So yeah. Right, but yeah, man. As far as you want to put some stuff up there, man, and I'd be happy to, man. That'd be uh an honor. Kind of like showcase it on episodes and whatnot. Okay. Yeah. We're gonna have to do another episode maybe next week. Uh next week gonna be a little crazy. Oh, that person. I might need to we'll talk off, though. Yeah, I gotta get my taxes filed. So like check this shit. I want to interstate on the phone, though. Allegedly. Like with my old HR my last job. She was like emailing me a temporary password to get back into the system so I could allocate my W2 phone. I couldn't get the never got the email, dog. I was like, send it to my Gmail, I wouldn't get it. But then it finally came. By the time I got did what I did for the rest of the evening, I was like, rest of yesterday evening, I was like, I just did with it tomorrow. So I tried to get it today, dog, and I couldn't get into the damn thing. So I gotta get my, you know what I'm saying? I know you say you know somebody, I think I might have met her, but um, yeah, I gotta get that figured out. So I mean I got an issue with procrastination, man. Yeah, and my cousin Kiki is an artist, she said the same thing. She she's she thinks that she finds it useful, and I do too, man. I've always procrastinated projects in class and whatever, and I hate, but when it comes to like respecting somebody's time, no, you can't really do that. That's weird, yeah. But um, but damn, dah, people give me grace, man. I give people grace, man. Like everybody, life is life, dog life be life. But what was I going with that? About uh procrastinating. Yeah, so the deadline is when April 15th or whatever. So I got like a week, solid week and a half or something like that. So at least I didn't wait till like the last day before I'm trying to get the shit together. I'm trying to put the pieces together, the puzzle, bro. Yeah, but it's awesome, it's cool doing that shit, going back and trying to find out like you know what I'm saying, just putting that information out there, like damn dog. Like, this is um school, like you know, just like stuff from school, kind of like accounting. Yeah, I need like a good accounting refresher, but I'm good, I know what I'm doing. You've got uh and then there is a it's kind of fun in a way. There's a um extension you get until October. I'm talking about bookkeeping, by the way, obviously. But what? Yeah, bookkeeping October 18th is the extension. Shout out to John Prado. Yeah, yeah, he he helped me out. Oh, nice. Good yeah. I told him I was gonna do a post. He said he's gonna do the pod. Good. I'd love to get him here. Yeah, man. Him and that butterfly guard. He looks very tired. I couldn't do nothing with him, but that butterfly guard that day. He's he is a small, powerful looking gentleman. Yeah, man. He's a good dude, man, to say the least. Well, brother, this was fun. An hour and 30 and counting. But after we edit everything out, we probably have about 11 minutes. I'm just kidding. We don't hate here, we love on the podcast. Let me ask you this if you can meet a comedian, like just hang out with him or whatever. Shoot the shit. Who would be on Chappelle? Chappelle. Chappelle Show. Chappelle Show. Is that how I go? Yeah, yeah. We got a benjo on it. Start the show. No, it was a harmonica. No, yeah. Start the show. Yeah, for sure. I thought it was like a guitar binge. Chappelle show. Dave Chappelle. Hanging out with Dave Chappelle. I missed an opportunity to hang out with Dave Chappelle one night. I have a lot of I had a lot of friends that when I lived in Colorado that were comedians in the local circuit. I would go to open mics all the time just to watch comedy. I would never do comedy because I was never um you did on a podcast. Well, like I'm funny, but like you're hilarious about it. But like I was gonna say, I never went up on stage just because I'm a fan of comedy. I'm a like I love comedy. So, but my buddy one night, I was like, it was a weeknight. He's like, hey, Dave Chappelle's out. You wanna come hang out? And I was I was sleeping, I slept on it. I was like, shh, whatever. That would have been cool. Nick Schwartzon, it'd be cool to hang out with him too. Savage on the Wall, dog. What? The Savage on the Wall. Yeah. Uncle Joey, man. That dude, yeah, he's funny too. I'm gonna tell you a story. Well, he reminded me of my Uncle Pee Why, who's passed away, my mama's brother. Oh, sorry to hear that, man. You know what's crazy, man? Like, he's uh uh every time I eat a rib, I think about him. I eat a lot of ribey's. It's kind of like part of my like my diet now. And um which I always ate ribey's, but it's just more sure. You know what I'm saying? I love ribeys, but he would, you know what I'm saying, ketchup on the side, dip it in ketchup, uh, but like he reminded me of my uncle PY. I was gonna tell you a funny story. It was like me, him, and my uh cousin Jim. Yeah, and uh we was on a golf cart allegedly, boy found some musket lines out, filled up some badges of musket lines, man. I'll never forget that shot at my cousin Jim, man. That's cool. I hope everybody hide out there, man. I love everybody, man. It's like people gotta get, you know, I still got things I gotta work on, man, but like overcome them. Whatever you gotta overcome, though. You're doing it. Be able to love and you know saying respect yourself, man. That's where it starts, though. Like that's right, you know what I mean. That's right. Appreciate you, man. Well, you had a good time. But technically, this is our third podcast we do. I got the audio for the other one, though, bro. You do? I could drop you know what's crazy. You did drop it. The first one. Yeah, the first one. I got the audio from the second one. I'm wondering. It would be the craziest idea to like when I dropped this one, like I could drop both. I don't know. I don't know. The sec the uh second one? Yeah. You could. I dropped a what was the audio like? Hey, thank y'all for tuning in. Um be safe out there. It's Easter weekend, it's actually good Friday right now. Yeah. Um that's right. Yeah, so you know what it is. If you don't open up that book, peace.
