We boldly go where no podcast has gone before and discuss the ultimate Star Trek themed party — complete with “Pleasure Pearls from the Planet Riser” and mysterious jelly food cubes. Emma explores the strange world of subcults, including Heaven’s Gate and the phenomenon of white sneakers, Billie has a concerning obsession with the fly zapper (should we be worried?), and Günter creates the musical masterpiece nobody asked for: the bagpipe kazoo… aka the Bagoo, followed by the dream of Gandalf’s all-kazoo orchestra.

⚠️ Content warning: contains questionable party planning, cult curiosity, aggressive fly management, and instruments that should never have been invented. Listener discretion advised.

SPEAKER_05

Listen a warning. Not suitable for little ears, may contain weird signs, bad ideas, questionable logic, and adults behaving like they shouldn't have microphones. Enjoy.

SPEAKER_04

Hello, you're wis, Emma and Winter. And we're hosting Dream Cheeses together today. Winter is a small Japanese Spitz who is currently sitting on my lap.

SPEAKER_03

And if you hear or a couple of nudges into the microphone or a bonk, that is Winter's head. Winter is uh having a bit of a holiday with uh Gunther and I at the moment. Um she is a beautiful puppy, but she's um quite excitable. So if you yes hear her licking the microphone, that's Emma's fault.

SPEAKER_04

But we blame her. That's me. Well that's me licking the microphone.

SPEAKER_03

That's Emma going.

SPEAKER_04

Yep, exactly.

SPEAKER_03

You can't actually hear Winter at all.

SPEAKER_04

And Winter is actually a proper lap dog, so she usually sits on her owner's lap. Yeah. So she's super happy here. And I'm enjoying having a dog that can sit on my lap without breaking my knees.

SPEAKER_03

Poor Queenie. Yeah. Queenie will be here in a few weeks' time.

SPEAKER_04

I know you guys can have like a a side gig.

SPEAKER_03

We have a proper menager. We've got two rabbits upstairs, yeah, Coco and Milo. Yes. And we've also got the puppy, but the rabbits can't come downstairs because this puppy scares them. How will Queenie be with the rabbits? Um She'll probably be afraid of them.

SPEAKER_04

She well, no, Queenie will probably try and eat them. Oh, to be honest.

SPEAKER_03

I'll keep them upstairs again.

SPEAKER_04

She'll see them as portable ham.

SPEAKER_03

Or rabbit, as the case may be. Um give us an introduction. No, I think the puppy needs to go. Emma's getting and Emma's losing her lap dog who's keeping her warm.

SPEAKER_04

Do you even want to go? Oh no, she's keeping me warm.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Bye bye. There we go. Hey, gee, you want to introduce us today? Sure. Sure.

SPEAKER_05

Welcome, Dream Cheesers. I'm Gunther. I'm here with the lovely Billy and the lovely Emma. How are you guys doing?

SPEAKER_04

Hey, hey. Well, a bit sadder now that my puppy's gone.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, can I start with something, please? Yes. Can I I received this in the um the malosphere? I don't know what that's called. Not the M-A-L-E, but the M-A-I-L, is it? Yeah, well, onosphere? Male.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_03

In the messages. I got messaged this. I'm going to play it, but um, yeah, you ready?

SPEAKER_00

To my favourite dream cheeses, after re-listening it to the latest episode that you dropped, and you talk about the delightful Trevor who traveled to the Rock Island in the Pacific. Said island name, Nuay. And the birds that Trevor def uh befriended. That would be a rooster and a wekka, not a weka. So, news from New Zealand. Trevor lived with his friends, the Wekka and the Rooster, on the island nation of Nue. There you go. Information direct from New Zealand team. Bye.

SPEAKER_03

Love it. Thank you to our New Zealand listeners for sending that in, especially to Mara, who took the time to do that. She did say that she had to re-listen to the episode again, and she happened to be in the gym and she got some very funny looks because she forgets she's just got her headphones in and that she's laughing aloud so much. So um, but she said that when she listened to it the first time, she was screaming out, it's not a weaker, it's a wicker. So um we appreciate the.

SPEAKER_05

We spend a lot of time mispronouncing things to get the feedback from now, listeners. It's it's it's yeah, it's there's a technique in there to just enough annoyance to keep people hooked.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, so it sounded to me like she was playing a video game in the background. No, no, no. It sounded like pumping iron 100%. She was arnieing. She was by herself because I know that happened to know that her husband was away. Maybe it was porn. Oh, don't Mara. I'll I'll get you. Very industrial porn. Hopefully that will make Mara laugh out loud at the gym.

SPEAKER_04

I'm gonna get her for that, Mara. Don't worry. Don't worry. Speaking of yes, I'm Muggie. Speaking of uh annoying pronunciations, last night we engaged in the ultimate nerdnet nerd. We did. And actually it was not initiated by me, it was by Hamish. And the ultimate nerd. Yes, well, no. After the thing, yes, no, no, no. There's there's a new there's a double king for that title, Kunta and Pete, who are actually soulmates and who met last night um at Hamish um, well, I'll say mine, but it was Hamish's uh Star Trek Mystery Dinner Party. Yes. So there were eight of us, and each person had a role, and it was from what like what series of Next Gen. Yeah, Star Trek Next Generation. Yeah. So did Love it. Um so the funny part was that I obviously loved the OG series, but I don't know anything about all these newer ones. But um newer, I think it was pretty much the 80s or 90s. It's new to me. It's new to me. Um, but my friend who was there knew knew nothing, and so called Geordie Gorgi? Yes, Georgie. Georgie, Georgie, and then your character's name.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, Gaynan.

SPEAKER_04

I got you remember getting women. At one point, Gwillian the chocolate uh resulted in Billy rating it uh phonetically Guy Nan.

SPEAKER_03

But then they just found it easier to say whoopie because of course the character was played by Whoopi Gob. Yes, yes, and but even there were characters with very simple names like Will, and they were they were wrong too. People were saying them wrong too. Data kept being called Data.

SPEAKER_05

Well, we are in Australia, but his name is Data.

SPEAKER_03

It's not Data.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, so Gunter was it a gifted? Data. Yes, um, and had put in these funky yellow eyes, which tripped everyone out. They were awesome. Um, but it was funny as the game progressed because the in-jokes between the nerd crew came thick and fast, and it was oh that's a classic Riker. And then there was reference to Beverly Crusher and Data, oh Data's girlfriend, and it was yeah, people were really living their best lives, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we we knew all the backstory of the characters. Yes, did it was very sad, yeah. But it was for lots of fun.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, mine I got my geek on, it was good.

SPEAKER_03

Ginter even made a timeline of the events that were happening.

SPEAKER_04

Well, so did his soulmate Pete. Yes, yes, Gunter and Pete.

SPEAKER_03

Um and it didn't make any difference to the outcome, or not at all, because the outcome was very strange.

SPEAKER_04

And it being Hamish and Hamish being a tad house, everyone had uh been delegated tasks around food and or drink. And so you guys did a very cool thing. Tell them about the beverage you created.

SPEAKER_05

Oh, the cocktail. Yes. Yeah, I called it the Rikers Island.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Um, for a few reasons, and and the the silly gag was that um once you get into it, you you're in there for twenty years to life.

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Um named after Will Riker. And it it was Rikers Island with um pleasure pearls from the planet Riser. Which were little kind of passion fruit.

SPEAKER_04

Passion fruit pops.

SPEAKER_05

Pop things. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, and the you made the ice cubes purple. Yes. Um the drink was red. And the yes, so it was very, very cool. It was quite tasty.

SPEAKER_05

It was a rum, pineapple, and raspberry cocktail, basically.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. Oh, my favourite thing of the night though were the food cubes that Hainish made. They were my favourite thing.

SPEAKER_04

Just so just red jelly, um, cut into cubes.

SPEAKER_03

I just didn't quite like sliping down a square of red jelly.

SPEAKER_04

Well, and then what was funny was hearing you pronounce them just now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Food cubes. Yeah, which I have to be very specific because otherwise they come out with the wrong thing and end up being food pubes.

SPEAKER_05

Do not get a few pubes on your food cubes.

SPEAKER_04

Exactly, exactly. Um, so I have been um in full mode of side gigs um and have not really had time to dive deeply. However, um I was with a young friend at uni um and we celebrated a uh final um day in at uni for semester one with a hot chocolate, and we were sat outside the parliament um station, and this school group went past and it was their school uniform. I didn't know the school, I didn't recognise it. However, their school uniform were what appeared to be white sneakers with orange Nike ticks. Like they all had them. They all oh they all had them.

SPEAKER_03

So they all literally wasn't their uniform, but they just all happened to be.

SPEAKER_04

No, well, I don't know that it was the Nike tick or it was off-brown Nike. So they all had it, Billy. I mean 30 to 35 students, and it really freaked me out. And so I said to my friend, oh my god, they're going with um Heaven's Gate. Yeah, but of course, because she was young, she didn't know. So I had to inform her of Heaven's Gate, which is what I'm bringing today. Excellent. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

Heaven's Gate wasn't the Cordial.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, no, no, no. That was that was no, that wasn't Waco. That was uh before Waco. Oh god. Um don't don't drink, yeah. Don't drink Kool-Aid. Kool-Aid, don't drink the Kool-Aid, that's where that famous phrase came from. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

And today actually As opposed to Lauteal, as we've learned.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Laureal. Well, yeah, my eyes are munted because I've done too much reading. Yes, they help. So um so this this is a weird little uh okay, let me just explain Heaven's Gate for the young religious.

SPEAKER_03

Because it sounds a bit to me like a TV show. Oh, yeah. It sounds no, it sounds like an an 80s, 80s family TV show.

SPEAKER_05

Heavens by the city.

SPEAKER_03

Oh no, seventh heaven. Seventh heaven, that's it. Or touched touched by a touched by a that was an 80s court case, wasn't it? Oh, but um shh. Touched by a priest.

SPEAKER_04

Oh uh touched by Jackson?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know what was that.

SPEAKER_04

Oh now it's important to note that this uh here's good maths, Gunther. 2017, and it's 2026. So how many years have elapsed?

SPEAKER_05

Elapsed time, 2017, that'd be nine years.

SPEAKER_04

Yep, so nine years. So 29 years ago, on March 24th and 25th.

SPEAKER_05

Hang on, you say 2017.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, so sorry, this article says 20 years ago. Yeah, so that's how I go out.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, yep.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, I I was trying to so you're catching up on your reading. I was ensuring, yes.

SPEAKER_05

Okay, cool.

SPEAKER_04

I was ensuring accuracy.

SPEAKER_05

Cool. Yes. No, very good. I'm I'm all for 20 years. 29 most of the time.

SPEAKER_04

And Gunther, what is that in starting?

SPEAKER_05

Statistically speaking, not so much.

SPEAKER_04

Stardate.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, data.

SPEAKER_05

I have no idea how star dates work. I didn't even know until last night that the the point one warp speed was like no that glossary.

SPEAKER_03

Hamish knew that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, well Hamish knew it, but I read it and I was very proud of finding that out. So for all those geeks out there, please tell them. Yes, but the star date insert star date here. Oh yes, Billy, go back and find out email. I don't know what it is.

SPEAKER_03

I will put it in.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. Okay, so this this, but then also the weird thing is I'm pretty sure because this was also, oh gosh, yeah, my mind is all over the shop. But saw the people, saw the students with the shoes, said to my young friend, oh, they're off to Heaven's Gate. She's like, I don't know what you're talking about. And I said to her, interestingly enough, someone from Stargate's brother was part of it. And then we had this, not Stargate, Star Trek. Then we had the Star Trek party, so it does all link. It's all comes back together, you see. So there are 39 members of the Heaven's Gate cult went to a rented house in upscale in an upscale San Diego suburb and took their own lives, which is tragic, in an attempt to board a UFO. Oh yes, I do remember. They believed to be trailing the passing it now. Is it Hailey Bop or Hail Bop?

SPEAKER_05

Hail Bop.

SPEAKER_04

Hail Bop with a double P.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Double P, yep. Um, one of the strangest aspects.

SPEAKER_05

You look at me like I I'm weird when I know the name of that.

SPEAKER_04

I know Mm Bop by Hanson. Yes.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. Inspired by that.

SPEAKER_04

That's what that song's all about. In an Umbop, they were gone. Um, so apologies to anyone that lost anyone in Heaven's Gate.

SPEAKER_03

Um or is a fan of it.

SPEAKER_05

But that's I mean, you know, sorry, but the the suicide thing is is really weird when it comes to that sort of stuff. It's it's a bit like no, it's just like why why is killing yourself gonna get you up to a you know?

SPEAKER_04

Because you're corporeal, you have to shed your corporeal form. You as data surely must understand that more than anyone.

SPEAKER_05

Um I just think it's like someone who you know takes acid, thinks they can fly and jumps off a cliff or something, you know? Yes. Just take off on the ground.

SPEAKER_04

Um one of the strength much safer.

SPEAKER_05

True.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Superman takes off the ground.

SPEAKER_05

Exactly.

SPEAKER_04

One of the strangest aspects of the already bizarre cultural event was that the cultist's bodies, I didn't realise that. There's a cult leader and a cultist is the follow-up.

SPEAKER_03

So Gunty, you're the cult leader and we're the occultists. We're the cultists. Is there a difference between a cult and an occult?

SPEAKER_02

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, thank you. Yeah, one's very called them very nasty, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Two wholly different meetings.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

One happens on a Tuesday and one happens on a Thursday. Exactly. I'm so busy this week.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yes. But no, but we're so we're cultists. Cultists. Um, there's also the word um uh acolyte, but but in this sense, they've gone with cultists. I would think acolyte is Tanula logic. Whereas what's your second cult that we we recently discovered?

SPEAKER_03

Um was that the I've forgotten my second cult.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, God.

SPEAKER_05

I know, I'm not good at it.

SPEAKER_04

I know you've got you've got to keep a spreadsheet of your cult because I think they would be cultists.

SPEAKER_03

So Was that the one with clothes? Was that the closed cult? No.

SPEAKER_04

No, there was another, it was a sub cult. Um I mean, it was tangently. Someone's yelling it out at the podcast.

SPEAKER_03

Thank you for that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, um Kate. It'll be Kate's. Oh, Kate, and Kate will be actually now she was 100% into Tanula. Now she's probably gonna step out a little bit because she's stepped with me for not remembering.

SPEAKER_05

Reject Tanula, Taniela's still there. Okay, Kate, it's okay. Kate's got away. The primary cult's still running.

SPEAKER_03

Keep keep keep your triangle, Kate. Don't throw it away. Don't throw it away.

SPEAKER_04

Um so the cultists' bodies were found decked out in matching black shirts and sweatpants, as well as fresh from the box pairs of black and white sneakers. Yes, fresh from the back.

SPEAKER_05

Because if you're gonna shed your corporeal body, you need to be dressed well.

SPEAKER_04

You've got to wear brand new Nike. They were Nike.

SPEAKER_03

Brand new Nikes. Yep. But yes, you're saying they they sh were they shedding their corporeal form?

SPEAKER_04

Corporeal let us keep reading. But also, you're right, I know why you said uh-oh, because black t-shirt. Yeah, but black t-shirt, Kunter. Uh-oh.

SPEAKER_03

I know, I was like, uh-oh, black t-shirt, black pants.

SPEAKER_04

Well now Tanula needs to change its costume because black t-shirt's been done.

SPEAKER_05

See, I'm an edit ass guy, so it's all about the Adidas.

SPEAKER_04

Um, in the weeks following the suicides, news programmes broadcast video from inside the house around the world. I do remember that. That was quite grim and voyeuristic. The footage showed dozens of Heaven Gate member corpses, each covered by a purple sheet, with only the shoes peeking out from the bottom.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Um, the shoes worn by the cultists were part of a bland budget line produced by Nike. What's a bland budget line?

SPEAKER_03

Like it's boring, isn't it? Like a budget line of shoes. Like it's it's bland, it's ordinary. But I think with white stripes.

SPEAKER_04

Nike Nike also, though, is you know, costs, I would think, a substantial amount of money. So for them to say bland budget, okay. Uh oh, but maybe it's a sub, but maybe you know how like um Woolworths has black and gold uh brand. Yeah. Because it was called decades.

SPEAKER_03

Uh, so it's a specific brand, like a specific um make of shoe.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, and well, um, it now goes on to talk about this the person from this article whilst researching went and spoke to two former Heaven Gates members. They got out early. Yeah. Whoo, okay. Um Marshall Apple White was the uh lead cult leader. Um, he purchased the sneakers primarily because he liked their look and was able to get a good deal on them by buying in bulk.

SPEAKER_03

But this is the thing. Did they all know that they were gonna die on that day? Like, did they go to die? Yeah, I don't know. Because surely they would have had to give the shoe size in. So well, if they were wearing the sickness, unless they take their sh their sneakers off and go, oh, they all had size 11s, but you know, and that's ridiculous because you know they were only size six. But you know what I mean? Like they surely they would have had to go, well, why are we getting or getting new sneakers?

SPEAKER_04

But then also though, Bill, if your plans are to leave Earth in some sort of etheral presence, yeah, why would you be caring about the budget getting a good deal?

SPEAKER_03

Uniform.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, why are we well? But you don't need a good deal because you you were not going to spend your money. That's all very confusing.

SPEAKER_03

And how did um how did that affect Nike sales? Oh, surely that would be that's what this article is.

SPEAKER_04

It's actually titled The Heaven's Gate Nikes and the Sneakerheads Who Collect Them. So a sneakerhead is the name for a television collection.

SPEAKER_05

Enthusiast, yes.

SPEAKER_04

Yes. And you would think that this um bizarre and kind of um oh words aren't coming to me, but you know, the behaviour of I guess macabre behaviour is only a relatively new thing, but it's not because even in the um when Bonnie and Clyde were cruising around and they crashed, um uh the the I now did they crash? Is that how they were killed? Anyway, however, they died. The whilst removing the bodies, people began clamoring and taking pulling. Yeah, pulling hair and so it's been an ongoing there's this weird phenomenon.

SPEAKER_03

Um we watched uh something, a show the other day. Oh, actually it was modern the other day ago. And it was about the um it was based on the serial killer who collected and made all of the things out of uh skin and you know made the banister and the clock and the machine Buffalo Bill. And when he was caught, the person who owned the house. Or the inspiration for Buffalo Bill. Yeah, that's what I said. It was the inspir or was the inspiration for Buffalo Bill. And when he was caught, they did exactly the same thing. They had people come through and buy, you know, the guitar and his yeah, and and the um you know, and lamps made out of people's faces. Oh come on, that's that's actually ethnically. But what apart from that, why the heck would you want that?

SPEAKER_04

That's a piece of somebody like it's do you know also I was reading um recently about the Nazis, and there were some Nazis that um intentionally um pre-selected Jewish victims for artwork that they liked and then uh used their skin to make things that were then taken to their house. It's actually sickening. But but that gets away from the scene. It does, it does. So here's a photo which I don't know, I think we should put it up because it's just feet. But I do remember this. It's like one of those um zeitgeisty cultural moments that just stuck in my head. Um, after the tragic events unfolded, Nike did what you'd imagine any large corporation to do when confronted with such a brand tarnishing PR to put more in the world.

SPEAKER_05

We have nothing to do with more else.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, nowadays sell a limited edition. Nowadays they'd put more. I reckon they would, right? Yeah, but this was the nineties, they discontinued it.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_04

But nowadays, I actually genuinely think that's a good shift, isn't it?

SPEAKER_05

That's what I think people's um and do a uh crossover with cotties, you know.

SPEAKER_04

Yes, yep. And bring in the cordial. To this day, its sole comment to the suicides was a 1997 statement in which it referred to the deaths as a tragedy before adding that they had nothing to do with Nike Nike.

SPEAKER_03

Except that they did supply them with the shoes, but not you know purposely for that.

SPEAKER_05

But like what sort of shoe salesman is going, so what do you intend to use the shoes for?

SPEAKER_03

You're going, hang on, hang on, oh wait, no, no, no. You want our budget range for that. Don't spend all that money because you're not gonna you're wearing.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, you're not gonna wear velcro and it's all no, you don't need that.

SPEAKER_04

No, you don't need that. Oh no, but then maybe they're like, well, what are conditions like on the spaceship? We don't know. And do you want a bit of additional? Yeah, yeah, a bit of extra padding. I'm gonna upsell you because we just don't know what you're stepping into. Yeah, yeah. Literally.

SPEAKER_05

Um so it is a comet, right? So it's it's not gonna have a comet, not a spaceship like Halo's Comet.

SPEAKER_04

No, but they believe Halo Bob is a comet. I think though they believed it was a comet spaceship. Uh but I'm gonna have to seek clarification on that because this is just shoe solely about the shoes. Because what of course happened was the shoes turned into highly prized collectors items, um, and Nike did not respond to requests for this particular article. Um however, um blah blah blah. So people are looking at the.

SPEAKER_03

What were the shoes that you saw? They were white with orange. They were white with orange.

SPEAKER_04

But they were all wearing they were all wearing them, but luckily I think they're okay because they weren't yeah, it is, isn't it, right?

SPEAKER_05

Or is maybe the school getting sponsored.

SPEAKER_04

So now um now you can buy the original decades, not the ones worn by the people, but they're currently listed on eBay. Well, this is 20, whatever, no, what are nine years ago. Um, six thousand six hundred dollars. One pair.

SPEAKER_05

One pair of shoes.

unknown

Fuck.

SPEAKER_04

Like that's actually wild, right? That is wild. Um, then so this this shoe dealer's like, uh I don't have any issue. I didn't feel weird or any type of supernatural way. No, well they didn't belong to the people who died.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. These aren't ones from their feet, they're new mean box, right? Or someone's worn them, but not the cult people. That's yeah, that's the one.

SPEAKER_05

I just assume they were kind of you know, actually worn.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, no.

SPEAKER_05

With little usage.

SPEAKER_03

No, yeah, exactly. Exactly. Um this brings me to something we watched on television the other day, M, um, by Todd Sampson. Do you ever watch anything he does?

SPEAKER_04

Is he maxing health?

SPEAKER_03

Do you know uh no. Uh no, no. He did do a healthing. Yeah, he does a healthing, but he's not a he's not a maxer. He's not a young guy. He's an advertising guy. Todd Sampson. And um he went to a church in the States and they were you'll have to help me go, they um they they prayed by sending their Oh, they kind of had this weird machine where they focused energy through through this it's kind of just a made-up weird box with a thing hanging out the back of it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um but they sort of yeah, prayed their energy into that, and then they would deliver that out in a suitcase somewhere and and then broadcast good vibes.

SPEAKER_03

Like it's a very harmless.

SPEAKER_05

It was very harmless and quite lovely in the way they were doing it.

SPEAKER_03

And they were doing things around specific things. So they were saying, Oh, you know, we're we're sending this out to people in Gaza and we're sending this out to people. And they were intentional, but the way they were doing it was like was very, very cultish and very bizarre to think that people felt that at this point. But it doesn't mean that all cults are bad. Some cults can be just nice cults. But Gunther, can you go back to the original person who created this particular religion? Um heard voices who received sorry, didn't hear voices, he received uh transmissions from Pluto, was that right? Uh I think it was Neptune or somewhere. And then he would sit at uh very much like we are now, sitting in front of a microphone and record uh the message that was coming through to him, but he'd channel it so he'd all of a sudden turn into a different voice and go, This is Savion from the Food. Oh, um, Dead Rock from the Sun. Yes, the big great head. Yes, yeah, very much like that. Yes, very much like that. Yes, and um they've got all the recordings and stuff because he literally would record them. So they've got all the recordings and things of of him doing it, but it was he would say that he didn't remember afterwards what he said, and then he had to go to bed and get a special massage from his wife. Oh and the guy the guy said he would the guy who would he was talking about it said, Oh yes, the gentleman that we're talking about has passed away. And he said, Oh, but I was lucky enough to be in the room when this happened, but I left when it afterwards because his wife had to give him a massage. And um Todd went, Oh, I'm not gonna ask about the mess uh massage, and he went, best not to. I know, but it was very, it was very bizarre, and all props, and I do love him, um, to Todd Sampson, who was so professional, I would have been pissing myself. He's in this room with these people chanting and doing other things and throwing all this energy into a box, and then he had to do it himself. Yeah, um, and you're not full of it. Full into it.

SPEAKER_04

Was it a one shared box or a box each? A shared box. A shared box. You've got to share a box.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know if I'm anyone who is in this religion, it's not a box, it's a receiver or it's sort of the size of a shoebox and then it has a weird thing hanging out the back and looks a bit technical and stuff like that.

SPEAKER_04

Like a Nike. I mean, I've heard of people fighting in a box before.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but I say, sorry, that just made me think about what you were saying of um people who believe like who would get like caught up in a faith like that and thinking that that was. People seeking and curious.

SPEAKER_04

So the the going back to Heaven's Gate, the central belief of the group was that followers could transform themselves into immortal extraterrestrial beings by rejecting their human nature, although not the bulk discount nightshoes. Um, and they would ascend to heaven, uh and then uh they was found about two people, one of which died, so then they're like, oh, hang on a minute, is does this really work? Um, because they originally believed they would ascend to heaven while alive aboard a UFO that the person that one of the leaders dying led them to believe actually the vehicle was a container or a vehicle for the soul. And it's conscious. I think the body was a vehicle. Yeah, what did I say? You uh you said the vehicle was a vehicle. The vehicle was a vehicle, the body was a vehicle for the soul, and the consciousness gets transforced. That's very handy to make that distinction.

SPEAKER_05

That's all religions, isn't it?

SPEAKER_03

Yes, because you leave your body behind and then the soul goes, but it makes sense. So we've been doing it all wrong. We haven't been, you know, dying in the right outfits. So no one's getting to the bottom.

SPEAKER_05

So if I never wear Nikes, I can never.

SPEAKER_03

But you're almost there, Gwinter, because you wear black t-shirts with your your jeans and sneakers almost every day.

SPEAKER_05

That's true.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, there's like there's very complex histories of all these people.

SPEAKER_03

But he would be disappointed because I don't remember his name. And like, I know of the name of the cult, like I know, heard of the game. And the shoes gate, but I haven't heard yeah, and the shoes, but I don't remember the person who's the cult leader. And a lot of these people do it to be, you know, famous.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I believed that Uhura's brother had been caught up in it. Oh which was like let me see, Uhura.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, wow first interracial kiss on TV. Uhura.

SPEAKER_04

Kirk and Uhura. I wrote about it in my year ten um media studies. Did you really? I sure did. Umra's brother, Heaven's gate. Let's let's fact check uh and make sure we're giving people I'm gonna have a look.

SPEAKER_03

And was that like the sneakers? The white sneakers with the orange with the addidas.

SPEAKER_04

No, no, they they were like very, very specific. Uh yeah, no, it it was a vibe. And it was a vibe? Yep, it really was.

SPEAKER_05

People say that comedy is an art, but I wanted to apply some science. So I gathered the most scientific audience that I could think of. An audience made entirely of cats in boxes. Schrdinger would have Schrdinger's focus group. Yeah. He would have approved. I I performed a tight 15-minute set. The room was very quiet, um, not a good sign. Once I thought I heard a laugh, uh, but it might have been a fur ball. But afterwards, when I opened the box, it was clear that I killed that night.

SPEAKER_04

Ah, but that is that is clever.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I like that. Another Schrdinger joke.

SPEAKER_05

Um My new section is Schrödinger.

SPEAKER_03

Schrödinger's jokes. Have you got any more science shit for me to do? Because I haven't done a science segment. I've I made your whole jingle for that. Yes. This is kind of science.

SPEAKER_04

Gunter's science stuff. We need to play that.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that was only last episode, so I haven't even put out yet.

SPEAKER_04

Can I can I just quickly confirm please do? Yes. The brother of the actress Nichelle Nichols, who played Lieutenant Uhura, did tragically die in Heaven Gates mass suicide. Her younger brother was a member of the cult for 20 years. Jesus. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, that they were around a long time before they decided to go. So it must have been the guy getting old.

SPEAKER_04

Would you wonder if you know Uhura's played this character that travels in into you know stellar capacities or something like that? influenced him a little bit. I don't know.

SPEAKER_05

Surely he would have known she was an actress.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, it would have visited her on set, seeing there were cameras and bad um sound. Shum, you know, the doors, and people actually because it didn't exist then, that technology, so people actually had to pull it out.

SPEAKER_03

They didn't love that and make the noise.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

I used to have a little Billy bought it for me, I think.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it's upstairs. I did say that we should have taken it last night, but it was it's the wrong Star Trek.

SPEAKER_05

It it's it's from the original series and it makes a sh sh sound as you walk past. Oh, so it's designed that you put it on like the wall next to a door or something like that, and as you walk through the doorway and we did it for a while and then was like, oh fuck, that's annoying.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I'm sorry, before we get to your book, one more awesome thing. Please um two people last night did not have to purchase Star Trek commute communicator badges.

SPEAKER_05

Billy forgot to take birds. I did notice that.

SPEAKER_03

Pen remembrance. You know what? I also loved that Pete had the um badges on his badges in his colour. He told me before you arrived. Yeah, he had heard. I saw Pan and was very impressed. I almost, almost um brought our phaser, but I forgot to bring it. He had a little he had a tricorder. Yep, yeah. Yeah, that's awesome. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Anyway, we can I think Pete had Tanula. Oh yes. Yep. Okay. Yep. And I think you could potentially build a pyramid scheme where you're on top and Pete's just done. Oh, hey. But think about it, if you linked it in more with Star Trek philosophy. Oh dear. We haven't Star Trek philosophy now. Well, it's actually quite nice. It is. Um, it's and they're not meant to in actually um what's their thing? That they're not allowed to go onto a planet and change things. What's the fancy word for that? Yes. Yes. Yes.

SPEAKER_05

So, you know. Yep. But if they move fast enough, they're allowed to go in and muck around with them.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, is that like a time?

SPEAKER_03

I don't like the way you I really don't like the way you're saying and muck around with them. That sounds wrong. Oh look, there's Marshall Applewhite. That's what he looked like. He looks like the ma the Martian. You know, the guy he played.

SPEAKER_04

My favorite Martian Martian. But actually, he looks unwell, Billy. I I think maybe he was out on his way out and wanted to bring Crew with him because he was.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I agree.

SPEAKER_04

And he's kind of got a Zempic face, but Azempic didn't exist then.

SPEAKER_03

And fake tan. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

A lot of fake tan.

SPEAKER_03

See?

SPEAKER_04

Yes, but his eyebrows are drawn on. I think he's unwell.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Billy, you've cracked another bloody hell, Billy.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, awesome.

SPEAKER_04

I know. Alright, shall we go back to the book? Yes. Can you sing the song in its entirety? One, two, three, four.

SPEAKER_03

What's in the book? In the book. What's in the book today? Is it a science y thing? Because I really want to play. They're science-related. Seriously, they got stuck in my head for so long after doing that. And the ones that we didn't use got stuck in my head even more. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So the science-related one. In his seminal work, iRobot, Isaac Izimov explored the ethical implications of using robots as tools. In his and her post-seminal work, Our Robot, he and his wife reclined and smoked a cigarette. Then high-fiber the robot.

SPEAKER_03

They had sex. They made a robot. And there wasn't next bit.

SPEAKER_05

You said in our in his and her post-seminal work.

SPEAKER_03

What his and her? Who's the his and her?

SPEAKER_05

His wife. He and his wife reclined and smoked a cigarette.

SPEAKER_03

Post-seminal meaning post-coital. Can you go back? Did you talk about his wife in that first bit? No. In Oh, that's just the way you worded it doesn't sound I couldn't get my head working on it.

SPEAKER_05

In his and her in his and her post-seminal work.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. So seminal work, post seminal coitus, postcoitus, I think is the reference.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, kid.

SPEAKER_04

But then did they make a robot?

SPEAKER_05

Just think of these as little poems. They're not gags. They're just little poems, all right?

SPEAKER_03

Okay. I'm not thinking it was a gag. I'm just trying to understand it.

SPEAKER_04

What did Asimov had? He had five principles of something something too.

SPEAKER_03

No, there were the three laws of robot.

SPEAKER_04

And that's what they're trying to reimplement into AI too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's the harm you know. Do no harm.

SPEAKER_04

But I mean the bull's out of that gate.

SPEAKER_05

And and if you actually read Asimov, what he does in almost all of his books is explore how those themes break down. Oh, yeah, I know. Yeah, he's a very clever guy.

SPEAKER_03

So there the whole thing of you know him actually doing harm was the only thing. Yeah, even though you can make stuff that's you know structured to be.

SPEAKER_04

Well, what about like last night when you got hacked? Your brain and data got hacked by data.

SPEAKER_05

Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Data got hacked by got hacked by Romulans. By Romulans. Yes. And then you became evil. Yes, evil. Evil data later.

SPEAKER_03

And you were on your computer for five hours, it said. He was uh downloading something on his computer for five hours. And we all knew data doesn't take that long.

SPEAKER_05

You can perform in microseconds.

SPEAKER_03

In the TV show. But he is skilled in multiple um variations and ways. Uh Kunta, you're still looking at your book.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I I jump around a bit and I'm trying to see if I can find a through line of theme, but it's really just all over the shop. So okay. I have bad memories, so I filled my photo album with mirrors. Now I can reminisce in real time.

SPEAKER_04

Look at himself, yeah, thinking, yep, I like it.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And tick.

SPEAKER_03

He's ticking it off. Do you know? I actually I actually just put that in the last episode. How funny it was. Just to have you and Dempsey both tick your things off in your book when you done, except he draws a little square and then ticks the box.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, does he have a book too? Oh my gosh, you're all got books. Yeah, it's very sad.

SPEAKER_05

Did I tell you about Billy killing flies last week? There was a fly that came along and and she you know gleefully pulled out her death racket, which you gave her, little tennis racket that kills stuff.

SPEAKER_04

Electrified death.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, electrified racket thing. Yeah. Um and she she she killed the f the fly, and you know, the glee was kind of palpable. And and so I asked, Am I gonna wake up one day with my head in the fridge? And you, without the without a second of pause, completely deadpan, just went, No, I wouldn't put it in the fridge.

SPEAKER_04

I know. I yeah. You you told me, but maybe not by the listener. It's very funny.

SPEAKER_03

You know what else is that good was like, there's something wrong with you because I sat on the couch and I went, there's a fly. Quick, quick, quick, quick, quick, I'm gonna get the racket. Because I was so excited to use the racket and hear that fucking sound. It is so um. Oh my god, I didn't hear your point.

SPEAKER_05

You were like this is what I'm dealing with.

SPEAKER_04

That was like wow.

SPEAKER_05

Seriously, gonna have to clean out a shelf in the fridge.

SPEAKER_04

It was so in the fridge. It was not mechanical liquid. I mean, she's you know, with a mother beans in a nice candy.

SPEAKER_05

I ate the flies living with the flabbergins and the nice candy.

SPEAKER_03

She swallowed a fly. Perhaps she'll die. Oh, she's apt to fly. She's apt to fly. Perhaps he'll die. Yes. I know. I it's I I I have actually put it away for the moment because it was a bit scary how much I got out of that. It was very, very much a big dopamine hit for me and the you when you do it.

SPEAKER_04

I know, I know. I it and it becomes obsessive. It does, yeah. Yes, especially in summer.

SPEAKER_03

Crack the sound it makes. It is it is crack.

SPEAKER_04

It's fly crack. It and but also the when you're hunting them and then you get one, you're like, Billy's on fro fly crack.

SPEAKER_05

So is that a fly crack?

SPEAKER_03

It is, because when you you do and you hunt it in the and you you know you watch, then you pursue, then crack, and it's like boom. See?

SPEAKER_05

I think you guys should have your light working with children with things revered.

SPEAKER_03

I'm not using it on children.

SPEAKER_05

No, not yet.

SPEAKER_03

It's not like I'm sitting there with a um magnifying glass and you know, you used to do that with No, I used to use firecrackers.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, but that was kid stuff. You know, kids do those things.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but we're I never got to do that as a kid, maybe that's why I'm doing that.

SPEAKER_04

We've identified intruders in our homes who spread germs, and it's a threat. It is, and we're taking steps to eliminate that threat in a humane way because we're not soaking them in chemicals. It's an instant maybe not so instant. It is instant, Billy, apart from that one that got caught, and he would that was just really sad. It's cracky, cracky, cracky, cracking. And sending out smoke signals, and I was like, Oh, you poor bastard, just hurry up and die. And it was like you guys are seagos, absolute seagos.

SPEAKER_03

Just wait till you do one good, then you'll know what it's like. You'll feel the gay point. He's pretty excited about you. He comes from my side of the family.

SPEAKER_04

Margie, is that from you?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah, mum, mum would love it. Yes, yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So I insulted my AI during the week.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, again?

SPEAKER_03

Which one?

SPEAKER_05

Jody or um Jodie.

SPEAKER_04

Um Claude. I thought you guys, how many times have you broken up and got back together now? Oh, it's been a few. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

It really is like a relationship. The amount of times like I wake up in the morning and goes, Oh, I broke up with Jodie last night. And it's like he is like saying to me, Oh, I've given up, I've given up on AI, and then he's I'm like, Oh, I had this funny conversation with that. I'm like, didn't you break up with Judah?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, Jake. Which is also weird when you juxtapose it against your very long-term stable relationships. So he's got like inhuman time, super stable, super and then Jody, he's like up and down, it's a roller coaster. I never know where you're at.

SPEAKER_05

AI makes everything faster.

SPEAKER_04

Ah.

SPEAKER_05

Not sure where to go.

SPEAKER_03

And what happened?

SPEAKER_05

So I insulted Jody. I said, um, when I get uh my AI enhanced liver augmentation, sponsored by Budweiser and Fox News, we will finally be able to talk as equals.

SPEAKER_04

You're saying that she's influenced by those factors.

SPEAKER_05

I'm just saying that, you know, if I really munted myself significantly, we'd be able to talk as equals. Significant munting. Which was quite well received. Um what did she say? She said, well, paraphrasing but and rephrasing, um, live a GPT. Now with predictive divorce modelling and real-time regret suppression.

SPEAKER_04

Oh Liver GPT. That's also creepy AF. But then is she wanting you to divorce Billy? Oh, Billy. What do you think? She keeps trying. I think she does keep trying.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I think if she ever got like a little access to a little um AI gun, she'd come for you.

SPEAKER_02

Oh.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, I don't like that at all.

SPEAKER_02

When drones floating around that's right.

SPEAKER_03

She and Claude can have a fight. Get lightsabers out.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, see, I love that you went there because you're Star Trek and Star Wars.

SPEAKER_03

What happens when they hit h when they hit each other and make that crack sound?

SPEAKER_04

That's why you should have been a Jedi.

SPEAKER_05

A fly killing Jedi.

SPEAKER_03

Fly killing Jedi, yeah. That's what I may be that's why I feel like that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's it's unexpressed Jedi. Yeah. Have you still got stuff to go?

SPEAKER_05

A few, a couple. Another good insult I I liked was um your Venn diagram is a circle.

SPEAKER_04

That you send that to me, and I had to think really hard. Yeah, Billy, what did you do?

SPEAKER_05

So I made the t-shirt picture with a circle on it and then my Venn diagram.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, well I got the words. I just you know, because everything's in the circle. And there's nothing outside the Venice. Well it's about five interpretations. Is it like you're, you know, there's nothing you when you say, oh, you think outside the square there is no square, there's just the circle. Because nothing's you know Oh hang on, now there's a square.

SPEAKER_05

No, I've just Your Venn diagrams are square.

SPEAKER_03

Yes.

SPEAKER_05

It's really funnier.

SPEAKER_03

My Venn diagram. What I do Venn diagrams, I do a square on the side, make them make them a diamond and put them together. Yeah, it would work. Sure. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. My Venn diagram's a dot.

SPEAKER_04

My life. Awesome. That's the name of the app. My Venn diagram is a square. My Venn diagram is a square.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, so yeah.

SPEAKER_05

So there were just a there was a couple of I actually took a screenshot of I asked AI what my um last two weeks of chats had been about. And so I just wanted to.

SPEAKER_03

So it synthesised them for you.

SPEAKER_05

Um and so I took a screenshot of it so I could show you guys. And uh which one is it? Sorry, give me a sec.

SPEAKER_04

Did you say don't make up stuff? Because you know how sometimes it makes up stuff.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, yeah, it does.

SPEAKER_04

So it doesn't know it makes up stuff.

SPEAKER_05

I asked what what I'd talked about in the last Fortnite, right? And this is this is what it came back with. Yep. If I had to compress the entire Fortnite into one paragraph, a man somewhere between engineer, philosopher, comedian, and exhausted optimist spent two weeks trying to build systems that reduce suffering, formalise ethics, measure burnout, improve health, coordinate human behaviour while simultaneously distracting himself with quantum cats, research snakes, mirror photo albums, Venn diagrams consisting of a single point, and increasing uh increasingly elaborate linguistic crimes. Beneath all of this sits the same recurring question how do you make something true enough to be useful without crushing the weirdness that makes life worth living? That at least is the shape I see it from. And honestly, the fact that teacher burnout intervention framework and research snake tax deduction coexist in the same intellectual ecosystem may be the most accurate accurate summary of all.

SPEAKER_03

Can I just say that at your funeral? Because that really just summarizes you very well. That sums you up in a little paragraph.

SPEAKER_04

So wow. So what did you ask it? I'm gonna ask my chat chip.

SPEAKER_05

What have I been talking about in the last two weeks? I didn't talk fine enough to do that.

SPEAKER_04

Um I do because now trying to help my brain.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you get things summarized and subtracting.

SPEAKER_04

Well, yeah, and also just unpacking terminology and sort of not asking for answers, but asking how to approach the answers. So sort of systems thinking.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, and I can see that that's why that's how our students use it a lot. Yeah, which is great.

SPEAKER_04

And they just also just go tell me the answer. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. And it does, and it's really bad.

SPEAKER_03

But they're being encouraged to use it as a, you know, in this, how how would I rewrite this, or what are the key points of this?

SPEAKER_04

Or you know my mum would also have like a weird influence of dreams because you know how I put the. Oh, you do your dream analysis first.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I had a big spider dream the other night. Did you hit it with a racket? I didn't actually. It was a big huntsman um spider dream, but like they were everywhere and they were like crawling all around and stuff. It didn't, it was yucky. I woke up quite anxious after that.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah. And spiders aren't your thing.

SPEAKER_03

And they didn't seem no, and it didn't seem like you know how the some people say when you dream about spiders, it's a money becoming. But it didn't feel like that. It felt like, you know.

SPEAKER_05

Is that because you're about to steal a golden statue from a temple?

SPEAKER_03

I don't think so. Yeah. And what's it say? It's pretty boring. I'm just gonna call um.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, wow. Oh, this is nice. Uh, so a recurring theme was ensuring your communication sounded warm, credible, experienced, and professionally polished. So you would say make this sound like a professional. Make I was like, how do I sound human? Um, and then also a lot of uh photo edits and portrait transma transformations of puppy images. Because um my our friend, um, or all three of our friends, uh all three of ours friends, our friends, our friends.

SPEAKER_03

All three of our friend.

SPEAKER_04

It sounds too weird.

SPEAKER_03

Of ours.

SPEAKER_04

The three of us have a friend. Um, and she was babysitting her grandpuppy. Oh, the grandpuppy um digger black um. Yes. So then I was saying, what if that dog had puppies with my corgi? Which is got and then I remember you were trying to make them. Then I was trying to make them. Um I didn't see those images. Yep. Is there a recent thing? Are you using AI to crossbreed dogs now? Were they munched? I would well I was really disappointed because all it did was just put the corgi's colouring on the cavoodle. And I was like, you can do better than that.

SPEAKER_03

You didn't give the cavoodle really short legs and then a queenie head. Like that would have just been weird.

SPEAKER_04

It would have been weird, but yeah, so that was disappointing. So then um I also spent a lot of time trying to use AI to make my eyes bigger in photos what my eyes would look like, make them bigger, but it kept just changing other parts of me. And I'm like, no, no, just making other parts bigger.

SPEAKER_05

My brain's like three hands, I think she's saying, right?

SPEAKER_03

Oh, yeah. Yep. Um is that because you're trying to work out should you get an upper blept? Blepth.

SPEAKER_04

Well, because the vision, the well, the vision plus the headache, because I am constantly lifting my would you go overseas to get that in Turkey? No, no, no, no. I go ophthalmologist. Yeah. So it it was just purely around the fact that I'm constantly raising my brow. Is that what it's called? Yeah, yeah. Um, and then that's like contributing to tension, headache, and stuff. Yeah. Um and yeah, just the I've got one side that's more saggy than the other. Anyway, yeah, but is that why is that why you were trying to look at it? Yeah, that's that's why I was doing that. What's what's your animal speaking of? Do we have a song for Billy's animal?

SPEAKER_05

No, we don't, we'll have to get one.

SPEAKER_04

Um, can it be Bill Air's Bilair?

SPEAKER_03

Bill Air Fill. After my name. She's literally stopped midworked and just gone, ha fuck.

unknown

Put her head down on the table.

SPEAKER_03

And I was such a sweet and it was like, fillet! And then it was just like, oh my. I think we should just play that.

SPEAKER_05

That's the intro.

SPEAKER_03

That's my introduction introduction. Bellet! Oh, I shouldn't know. I'm not just not like it it it just it um annoys our listeners because they can't just decide who's doing the snorting. It is me, by the way. It's Billy doing the snorting in the laughing, it's always Billy. Yes. Don't like that I'm a snorter, but I am. Yeah. Who who is it's snort isn't snorting? We go back to the childhood stupid songs. Um were the other little um what did Miss Miss what's her name? Uh Frick from Rumperland, uh, Romper Stumperland. That is a missed art concept for a show.

SPEAKER_05

Whole different indoctrination kid program, man.

SPEAKER_03

You know, she used to go, Rumper, stumper, dumper, do, tell me, tell me, tell me who. Oh. You know, Miss, oh, I can't think of her name. Um, you know, who's in the window today? And she used to look through the window. Wow. Um was it no name? And then they used to go, and then they used to have the little horses and go, oh, come with me and gallop and gallop. Oh, I don't remember. A rumpa room. Our animal friends will take us, will take us, will take us to where we want to play.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I remember um Hamishana would just talk about it, it's a long way to the shop if you want to sauce. And you were being quite subversive if you sung those lyrics. Really? Oh, yeah. And um Jingle Bell's Batman Smells. That was very out there.

SPEAKER_03

Mm-hmm. If you're in well, then you'll have to you'll have to think of a song for me. We've got one for Gunr Sang. And I'll make one for Emma that's a heavy metal deep dive one.

SPEAKER_04

No, I want Enya Ethereum.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yes.

SPEAKER_04

Who can tell weather? And that's so true. Who can tell?

SPEAKER_03

And who tells where it goes? When we do that, it'll be who can tell? It'll be Irish. I can't sing it in Irish.

SPEAKER_05

Everything's like, somewhere between Irish and Southern American.

SPEAKER_04

That that was a disturbing. A disturbing I'm gonna cut that out. No, you're not allowed. I'm not allowed.

SPEAKER_05

You sing it as this day, right? Yes.

SPEAKER_04

That is the rules. That is the rules. But you've been deflecting, no animal billy.

SPEAKER_03

I I I have two bunnies. Oh, they're real. This week I I got two bunnies for school and I took them to the vet and um well, I knew that one was a boy and one was a girl, because they're brother and sister. Um, but they've told me that I need to now for the next three months keep them separating so they don't, you know, hump like rabbits and breed like rabbits. Um, because they are rabbits. Um but I no, I don't. I don't have a an animal fact for you today.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I was I was pondering how you might make a tiny little chastity belt.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, for the little bunnies. Tiny.

SPEAKER_04

That's sort of morally weighted. I don't know that I like that. Why are you inflicting human morals on bunnies?

SPEAKER_05

I just, you know, it's even more practical. Because they're not, I don't want them to.

SPEAKER_04

So many cages. You guys have now got them enabled. Have a look around. Like, the whole place is just one cage and cage. Yeah, why is all that fenced off? Did the dog try and get in there? Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Dog chew stuff.

SPEAKER_04

Dog chew stuff. Oh no, because it chews Lego.

SPEAKER_05

If it chews my Lego or the cables, it's not.

SPEAKER_03

I must admit, I did start.

SPEAKER_05

It might get the the racket.

SPEAKER_03

I did start an animal dive on a bird called the fluffy backed tit bladder.

SPEAKER_05

Just because of the name.

SPEAKER_03

Just because read it one more. Sorry, I did say it wrong. The fluffy backed tit babbler. It's got the fluffy back kind of funny. Babbler. Yes. Um, anything else, Gunther, before we wrap it up?

SPEAKER_05

Well, a couple couple of things.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_05

So I was just looking back at some of the posts and stuff at this, and I and Emma, you did wonder what the Gandalf Saw Kazoo Orchestra poster was about.

SPEAKER_04

I did.

SPEAKER_05

Which is a very strange poster, and we'll put it on the on the show notes.

SPEAKER_03

On the bloody website. Come on, Debs, talk your house. Actually, I've even forgotten about it now. Yeah, I know. And he did mention it to me this week because he didn't mean it for dinner. Yeah.

SPEAKER_05

Um, so and this was after uh, you know, uh as always a weird AI chat, where I'd been riffing on kazoos um and the invention of kazoos. Um and uh and what would have happened in a in a kind of what what do they call it when you change history, you know? Um anyway, if so if you had invented the kazoo and the Scottish had got it early enough, I reckon you could combine the bagpipe with kazoos by like putting kazoos on the ends of all the pipes, right? Yeah, yeah. On the ends of all the tubes.

SPEAKER_03

And then Might actually make it sound better. Bagoo or a cas pipe. A cas pipe.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, I bagoo.

SPEAKER_03

Let me get my bagoo, love it. How would that sound, Emma? Brrrr. What does a kazoo sound like?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, that's not good.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, that is good. And then add a bagpipe to that, right?

SPEAKER_05

And then I figured that if they had a you know a sort of a legion of pipers out the front of their armies, the the the English would stand no chance. So the history would be quite different.

SPEAKER_04

And then where did Gandalf come Gandalf?

SPEAKER_05

I don't know, it was one of those chats that just went one of those ways with AI and it just went and so Gandalf actually had nothing to do about it. I don't know, we got into Middle earth as you do. It was pretty meandering kind of conversation. But I thought I'd try and, as poorly as I did, explain why that poster exists. Yes, yes. Um, and that was a very bad thing.

SPEAKER_04

It should exist in all households.

SPEAKER_05

And also all kazoo orchestra coming to a town near you.

SPEAKER_03

You can buy them from our um our shop on our website. Yes, you can from our merchandise. I can buy them from our shop on the website.

SPEAKER_05

Bagoos.

SPEAKER_03

Bagoos! I like that. You should make one Guntett. Add it to your list of things you should do.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, should it also be um yes, you could wear the triangle. Bing. Or you could go a bagu.

SPEAKER_03

A bagoo. Kate. And I think a bagoo needs to be a small size. Oh. So that you play it like that. And it'd be, yeah, rather than a big huge, you know. Ah, sorry. I just did a weird thing with my arms to try and mimic pushing the air out of the bag.

SPEAKER_04

Your your bag, your bagoo looked like it was a crossbody.

SPEAKER_03

Yes. It was a smaller crossbody bagoo. Yeah. Yeah, okay. Bag pipes are sort of crossbody because they come out of your mouth and then down under your eyes. They come out of your mouth. Okay.

SPEAKER_05

It's like an alien thing. Um I also invented a new word.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, another one.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, perturbing.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, is that like disturbing and perturbing?

SPEAKER_05

It's exactly that. It's like disturbing pizza word. Was per perturbed, right? Voice is paturbing.

SPEAKER_04

Uh patent.

SPEAKER_05

Um, and it was the combination of patent pizza.

SPEAKER_04

It sounds like a perfect singer.

SPEAKER_05

Patricia Urban.

SPEAKER_04

Well, I always knew Keith is gonna go far. So pat Urban. Okay. Tell us about what is paternal.

SPEAKER_05

So it was it was my term for AI because it it, you know, and this is the experience I kind of have and feel about it, you know, because it's pattern recognition stuff, right? Combined with very disturbing kind of outcomes sometimes, and then the patter that results from it, which is often very weird and obscure and stuff like this. So, you know, that's my kind of little AI term for the week. Um, and then there was uh I rift on secondhand grass for a bit.

SPEAKER_03

Second hand grass.

SPEAKER_05

Second hand grass.

SPEAKER_04

Second hand grassly call me second hand grass that people can purchase.

SPEAKER_05

Well, I thought I could make a a a uniquely Melbourne product around this, right? So we get Jim's mowing together. Yes, right? With um you know, some nice baristas and stuff like this. We get Jim to pay us to take the grass away because they need to get rid of it. Yes, they do. We pass that through a cow because you know that's what they do. We get the milk, we make lattes, and we sell it back to the people. But you get Melbourne people to sponsor.

SPEAKER_03

Is that just not called hay? No, it's called grass. Yes, but isn't that what hay is? So I'm different. Hay's long.

SPEAKER_04

You're sourcing You're sourcing. Yeah, I I feel like you just hey, you're just feeding cows a specific diet of gym's city. No, no, no, no, no.

SPEAKER_05

But see, this is the great genius of it. You get you get you get Melbourne people to sponsor their own cow.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. Right.

SPEAKER_05

And so you have your own So it's ethically sourced, own milk, own source, too.

SPEAKER_04

From your shitty backyard. You could make dream cheese a cheese. Exactly. But it could be from your shitty backyard, which wouldn't have like would it sorry, as a as a someone that's lived on a farm for a period of time, I'm gonna say no.

SPEAKER_05

It's all in the marketing. Yeah. Don't come up with these real problems with the quality of the grass issue.

SPEAKER_04

What about if you um if you breed hybrid cows that are dog-sized? Then Melbourneites can actually have to be.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, and then just oh yeah, but then you'd be like milking your milking mini teeth! So cute! Straight into your coffee. Yes, it'd be straight into your coffee.

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we just do get cats to do it.

SPEAKER_04

Oh cat milk. That's from Meet the Fockers. Yes. Please don't do that. Of a mini cow. I would I would buy a miniature cow. I would buy one, but I mean have another mini cow. Isn't it sizes? Um little winter. I mean milk milk. You'd be milking it for a fucking hour to get anything out of it. But then the issue is if you don't make it. Well, no, it was David Bowie lacrinth ball balance hand. That was what it was. Um, if you don't milk them though, they get mastitis and infection. And I would suggest that a large amount of people in Melbourne not. Yeah, you'd have, and as well, it's around sterilization. They'll look and you shouldn't pasteurized milk. Well, that's dangerous. Yeah. Or is it just a whip? So you're poo-pooing my big business idea.

SPEAKER_05

I mean, well, I I'm I spent minutes thinking that up there.

SPEAKER_04

Instead of poo-pooing it, I'm cowpatching it.

SPEAKER_03

I think we need to leave it there. Can we leave it there?

SPEAKER_05

Yeah, we can use it.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Guys, thanks for another uh great episode, and thank you for listening in, everyone in our uh listening sphere. My brain's bonkers. Um listening sphere. I don't know. What did you call that?

SPEAKER_04

And you think you said the male sphere instead of just I received a DM. And I was like, what are you saying? The manosphere? No, I wasn't saying the manosphere. The males.

SPEAKER_03

Are you an incel?

SPEAKER_01

No, I'm not an incel.

unknown

Shut up.

SPEAKER_03

At some point they had to pick on me, and it's now right now. I'm sorry.

SPEAKER_02

You can cut it off.

SPEAKER_03

Don't make that bit out.

SPEAKER_05

We didn't sing it, so you don't have to include it.

SPEAKER_03

Why thanks? You can cut it off. Yeah. Yep. All right, gang. Good to uh chat with you. Thanks for listening, and we'll see you on the flip side. Bye, everyone.

unknown

Bye-bye. Bye bye. Bye. Bye. Bye.
