I'm your host, Andy Shepherd, and as always, I'm joined by Robbie Whitaker. Robbie, how you doing?

Robbie

I'm all good. Thanks Andy. Yeah, not too bad, mate. Nice Monday evening, so there's a timestamp for everyone. It's glorious out there. Glad the weekend football's out the way and yeah, we can have a little breather this week, I think, although, have you got games coming up?

Andy

Yeah, we've got midweek and then potentially Saturday have to rearrange something. But no, I think the, I thought it was good to do the, do it earlier this week. There's a lot of midweek football coming on in a lot of games at the weekend as well, so be good to have a chat about it. Obviously have a look back to the last week or so as well. 'cause there's been quite a bit going on. And it's really starting to come together and now things are really starting to shape up apart from. The Premiership one where it still remains really tight at the top and the bottom. Championship one, sorry. Premiership two is pretty much salted Champ one, champ two, pretty much salted over 30 fives have still got a bit to play for. And I think the Cherry Godfrey Women's Division as well are starting to again, take a bit of shape and get an idea who's gonna come out and top there, but loads going on. And another good weekend of football. I know you don't want really to talk about Robbie, but I thought we'd start with your game. It was St. Paul's one Simple AD three. How did that go? Tell what was your take on it?

Robbie

Yeah, a disappointing one. We're just talking before we start recording, where you get the w and a little weird feeling just in the warmup and stuff, and you just sense that today's not gonna be a good day. A few of the players weren't at the races. I wouldn't have said that we were missing quite a few. I think we had five or six missing. But, we still fielded a strong enough team out there. I thought that we're good enough to get something out of it. Massive shout outs. Gotta go to young Zach making his first senior. Appearance. He only turned 16 on Thursday and he played center up. And honestly, I said to him at halftime, it looks like he'd been playing senior football for 10 years. He was quality. So watch this space for young Zach. He was un unbelievable. But yeah, disappointed with the result. Considered a few like a free con goal. For them to go wander up and then a sloppy second, and then, yeah, we got back into it two, one and then call missed a penalty as well. And then they went and scored a third. So the win played a big part, that's the same for both teams, but we just weren't at it. So it's just a bad day at the office there.

Andy

Yeah. So sometimes you just get that, don't you? For whatever reason, you can't really put your finger on a specific reason. It just feels a little bit flat.

Robbie

Yeah. In the warmup passes were going, missing their target. There was no zip about it, there was nothing. Tried mixing it up a little bit just to, get a bit of energy into it, into the warmup and stuff. And there was nothing like, I dunno, where the lads are just spent and, it's just an collective bad day for everyone really.

Andy

Yeah, I think it can be hard as well, isn't it? Because you've gone all season with a focus on the league title, the cup competitions, and you've kinda got, I dunno, when the Jeremy final is at some like the. 28th of July or so, weeks and weeks till the Jeremy final. Maybe I quite difficult to keep that focus on you, but I suppose your lads have been amazing all season, so you can sometimes let them off award, can't you?

Robbie

Yeah, definitely. They're young lads as well, so to miss six players from that starting 11 as well, so yeah, I can't be too, too down on them. I think maybe some might have had a little eye on the, under 18 Meti coming up as well. I think I've got six of them in there. Yeah, it was just a perfect storm for a bad result. Really.

Andy

Yeah. And re has a decent as well, aren't you? You especially, you get them on a good day, they'll cause anyone problems. The, you look at the players on that team. They, there's you Connor Connor Mayor. I dunno if Karen Lester was playing Brad Stratford, they're all good, experienced senior players that will cause you problems.

Robbie

Yeah. Late Layton another shift, another good shift from him. You know what you're gonna get from him. He's gonna put everyone under pressure and he just doesn't stop running. Kier Lester played, so I think they were struggling. I think they only had one sub as well okay. I think maybe the racing maybe took it people away. 'cause I know that's where a few of our lads were up at a aint tree watching that, so Yeah, it was one of them, you dust yourselves down. We've got a weekend off this weekend 'cause of the meti. And then we'll be ready to go again. The Jeremy Cup finals 2020 second or 23rd of May.

Andy

Okay.

Robbie

Yeah, so still a while to go for that. So I've said to them, now we just keep track. We'll get back to hopefully win ways, get a good run of fixtures or good run of games under our belts, and hopefully hit our peak again, ready for the final.

Andy

Yeah, it'll be interesting to see, 'cause obviously you've, you don't have a game this midweek and then your game on Saturday's postponed, which was supposed to be against the climate. I dunno when we're gonna fit that in, but it needs to be, and needs to be fitted in pretty sharpish 'cause we don't have a lot of time. But yeah, a tough day at the office and, like I say the lads have been brilliant all season, so you can perhaps give them one where they're feeling a little bit flat, a little bit quiet. But hopefully they, they pick themselves up. Not too soon. The playoffs picked ourselves up in time for other games and we, we can see how the season goes. Another game, another massive game which had a bit of everything in it was up at St. Peter. It was St. Peter versus st one. It was actually a home fixture, force one, but had been moved to St. Peter. And this was, we spoke about this last week, Robbie. This was the bottom of the, not bottom of the table, but relegation, clash. And it finished. So one three St. Peter four. Just an unbelievable game of football by all accounts. The rest put St. Peter two points clear of st one, but one of three games in hand. But St one are now set in second bottom in the league. So we said that St. Peter have to win it. They got the result against Central AD a few weeks ago and they've backed that up with a, the victory on Saturday and they've just given themselves a fight chance. So one. Amazingly we're cruising at three A up. Just, they'd gone ahead, the game was there and it was just a case of maybe keeping control and then goes from. Young Rory Bens got one and then probably the biggest story mate is Jacob Re the goalkeeper scored from his own box a along clearance. What I've heard, it's bounce thin and it's gone under the goalkeeper's foot and straight in, but I think that's the first goal of his career.

Robbie

Yeah I heard it. I was speaking to Jamie Barer, I think it was on Sunday. And I said, what happened with the gold? Did it go straight in or 'cause it, it was really windy on Saturday. He went, no, it went under his foot, so he's devastated about it. I was like, oh, that's a bit of a shocker to concede it that way, isn't it?

Andy

I know, and you think what's what's what's at stake? Yeah it's massive. And then two goals towards the end from Peter Cent. Still going strong. Two massive goals. I think one of them was a penalty. I think so put a young lad on just to try and show things up. And within a couple minutes going on, he'd given away a penalty. So you'll talk about Zach having a great introduction to senior football. The young lad, I don't know his name and it wouldn't be fair to call him out by name, but he's had perhaps the opposite introduction into senior football. It's really tight. So the, I was looking at it. So Peters are two points ahead of wonders. Wanderers need three points because Peters have the head to head. So you some, sorry. Yeah. I dunno why I'm getting wonder off. Sorry.

Robbie

We wish Wanderers were down there.

Andy

Yes. So Peter sent one. So Peters have the head to head on. So one, so some one need the three points. I'm reading my notes here. So one, I've still got to play central ads at Paul's and Wanderers.

Robbie

That's a big, that's a big run in that,

Andy

isn't it? I think saying, I think we've still got to play em as well, so Peter have still gotta play us as well. So we play them both, but that's gonna be really tight now. So one, what. One need three points. As I say, they've got some tough games. I know. They've definitely got wanderers to play and you guys, But yeah, a real. A tough run to fix us, but as we've said for ages, anyone can beat anyone. So Peter have shown that they can pick up points when they need it. So we'll see where it goes, but a, an unbelievable game up there. And just 'cause if St. Peter had lost that, yeah. Just not getting back early. Yeah. Great stuff up there. And then moving on, we had. Madeira one, Wanderers two. Now this was a lot tighter I think, than we thought it would be. Robbie.

Robbie

We didn't we? We were thinking five, six, maybe.

Andy

I think that's typical of Madeira. You literally don't know which version's gonna turn up. We played them at Ken last week and they were really good and. I think they got a player set off against us, and I'm not convinced from what I'm hearing, because obviously I was away, said that last week I was away. But from what I was hearing, I'm not convinced we would've. Managed to get the points had they stayed at 11 men. Now we were very poor, I have to say. But Madeira played really well organized, really aggressive, really done everything you'd want. And it sounds like they've done that again, but they actually took the lead against Wanderers after 70 minutes. And then there was two goals in three minutes from Hugo Perrera. And to put Wanderers ahead now, we were. Talking before there was a bit of the old rumor mill in action turns out not to be true, shockingly 'cause we were told, certainly when we were down at Springfield, we were told that Wonder is a 1, 2 1 after a 93rd minute penalty. So you can imagine the reaction then, but clearly not true. I did hear somebody else say that they actually got another penalty, a chance to make it three one. So maybe the, but they missed it. So maybe that's what it was. But, certainly, do you know what, we keep saying this about wonders. And as much as we would've loved it, certainly from our own selfish reasons, we would've been great if wonders are drop points. They keep finding a way to win. So even if I'm not playing well, they find a way which is bloody frustrating. I'm not gonna lie. But it's a very admirable trait to have as well.

Robbie

Yeah, definitely. You can bring out all the, cliches of name on the trophy and it's their year and everything, but they keep grinding out results. So yeah, fair play to them for doing it, but they're making it a little bit difficult, should we say. So I think Chris and the lads would've wanted it a bit more easier against Madeira. But at this stage of the season, it's just three points on the board. That's all you really need, isn't it? You don't care how you get 'em, just get them three points on the board.

Andy

Yeah, I think if you look at the lineup I think Chris and Sam were looking to rotate the squad and try and keep players involved, keeping them, 'cause you never know what you're gonna need over the next few weeks. And they did make a few changes. The bench was ridiculous. They had Harry Scott, Casey, Nixon, Jerry Moron, and there's a couple others. I'm not thinking, I'm not remembering 'em, but they had real talent and strength on the bench and they've brought four of them on after about an hour. Because obviously perhaps wasn't going their way, but it's happened too many times now for it to be luck. We can't say that they're lucky. They're grinding out, but they keep doing it. So that's not luck. That's character with the players, whatever it is that they're finding a way to do it. So you've gotta take your hat off to them. As I say, for purely selfish reasons. I hope they don't continue to do it, but if they do, they deserve to win the league. Yeah. That's what you have to do. You just by hook or by crook, you need to get your results and you win the league.

Robbie

Yeah. That we've said it before, Andy, that you don't win the league. Luckily you, it's always the best team who win deserves to win the league. So they've done it over the whole season. Will it be 21 games? No. Sorry, I've got that wrong.

Andy

Yeah.

Robbie

But yeah,

Andy

21 games.

Robbie

So if they win, if they get the most points out of all of them, more than us, then they deserve it. So it doesn't matter how you do it. And that'll be good for wonders if they can clench the league, but we've still got a say in it, so we'll give it a good go to hold them a bit.

Andy

Yeah, there's still a lot of twists and tons to come and it's great. It's really exciting. It's far better than if you've got a league where one team's run away with it. This is, it's far more interesting. As I say, we've gone to the top and the bottom of the table.

Robbie

Yeah.

Andy

But also even the teams in the middle are still gonna have a big say at both ends, so yeah. Really exciting stuff. The last game in pre won at the weekend it was, it Wass Climate seven Groove L one at Springfield. We were, it was the, we kinda neutral venue game. We moved to Springfield 'cause the pitch was free. And I think we were. By and large, we were very good. Especially in the first half. Played some really good football. Really aggressive, really high tempo, playing forward, getting runners and causing problems. But it's funny how foot football games work. You space it about 90 seconds. It could have been totally different. We. Got caught, an oil leg, got caught with one long straight ball over the top Harrison Moon through on goal one-on-one. That's a good effort. And young Ollie Vincent, who's in goal to replace Pierce after he dislocated his knee a few weeks ago. All he's pulled off a brilliance. Now it's one of these occasions where two things can be right at the same time. It is a brilliant save that Harrison Moon should scored as well. But 90 seconds later we've got the park got a, our a right back. Alfie, Kerry was playing it right back, get one behind, he goes into the box, knocks it past the goalkeeper, and the goalkeeper just collides with them. And it's a penalty. So you've got the chance. We wonders. Sorry. I keep, I dunno why I'm obsessed with wonders. I'm clearly gonna, I'm clearly gonna edit this but yeah, we've gone from. Really should be ahead

Robbie

to them bend

Andy

down. So 90 seconds later, we've got a parenting we scored who tucks it away, never in doubt. And from there we didn't really look back. We scored again relatively quickly. We went and phone all up at halftime. Carl heworth them all. Really just a really good performance. We started to click into gear and I think Ville found it quite difficult. And then second half, we, I think we still had a good bit of control and we made quite a few changes. Resting players, giving players a run out. And we got another three goals. We probably could have had more. I think we were quite wasteful in front of goal. Annoyed at the goal we lost. Very similar to what mentioned the first half, a long straight ball. I think we got two, two of our settlement fielders caught ahead of the ball. Just a bit slack, but. I think we were five or six up at that time, so we can give them that one.

Robbie

Yeah.

Andy

But yeah, it was a good day at the office all round. Some really good goals and really pleasing stuff. So we are keeping up, we're keeping up our bit. We, all we can do is keep winning. And we'll see what it takes us. But fair play to the lads Carl end up with five. Sean Algan with two. And a just a good day all round.

Robbie

It seems a good result for you, mate, like looking at the score line seven one, it looks pretty straightforward. But we've spoke about it before and where you got your goals at the right time so it we'll knock the stuffing outta Groove Hill if you've scored one and then scored one straight up or a couple minutes after. It sort gives them a mountain to climb then, doesn't it? And all of a sudden that extra five yard sprint becomes that little bit harder.

Andy

Yeah. And to be fair, they did make they made two or three chances in the second half that they didn't take. And I think all of those things just start to chip away at you in terms of getting even at at four, if they get one, if they get two, the potential can get back into it. But when you're missing those chances, it just chips away and then yeah, you then get another one. And but yeah we're really pleased, played some really good football. Mike ve was kind enough to share the VO with us we've got the foot job and yeah, so some really good stuff. I, we're actually in the first half, we had two or three efforts where had we scored them they'd be unbelievable goals. Just team goals, moving the ball quickly. Really pleased 'em from our perspective. 'cause we could see things that had been working on the training and the lights taken on board. Yeah. All good. But moving on the. I think the only other senior game on in men's football on Saturday was the over 30 fives, and we spoke about this last week, ro. This was St. CLS versus Wonders at the top of the table. It finished St. CLS two, wonderous three. Now this puts wonders, three points clear, having played a game more. But this is incredibly tight. So I was speaking to Elliot, so the 35 goalkeeper. Sorry, under over, I was speaking to Alex Desa, the over 35 goalkeeper, and he was saying that they've looked at it, they're head to head, they're equal. I think number of wins, they're equal and every sort of step they go down, they seem to be level. So this is one that should the finish equal and points, this could go to a playoff which will be another headache for the J FFA to try and fit it in. Matt Rollins got both goals for St. Cls. Only surprise is he didn't get a third one in when he scores, he normally hits a hat trick. Yeah,

Robbie

He's let us down there. Only two.

Andy

Yeah, he is. But most of all, rugby, most of all he's let himself down. Yeah. And then interestingly for Wanderers Gold came from Steven Perrera, Chrissy Moron and Arthur Ellingworth. Now. I was a little bit surprised to see Arthur play. I know he, he'd been playing for over 30 fives this season, but given the first team had the game today as well, I was a little bit surprised. I did have a ride chuckle to myself. I thought they drop points there and they let Arthur go and play the 30 fives. What the reaction or the thought process with the, or the, how they've thought about that. But ultimately it's a good day for them. The first commander over 35 has got the result.

Robbie

Yeah, it looks like their tactic did pay off eventually with both first team winning and 30 fives winning in by Arthur down there or to the 30 fives. So yeah, a good day for wonder is really, so they must be happy. But said, if that goes to a playoff, that'll be some game that down at Spring have, do spring. Really good strike.

Andy

Yeah. All well and good and good to see Chrissy Warren still playing. I haven't seen him for a couple of years. He was one I that was a good player. Struggled a bit with injury, but

Robbie

Yeah. Good to see him back out, getting the boots on and over 30 fives is good 'cause if you're relatively fit, you'll be, a standout player in that league. But it's good that, the older players are getting a run out among, against themselves and rather than trying to have a, have to Mark A. Young 16-year-old whip it

Andy

yeah. Yeah. I always think if you can't get close enough to kick them, nevermind tackle with 'em. That's time.

Robbie

Yeah. Oh, definitely.

Andy

But moving on, we've got the Cherry Godfrey Women's Division the women's football who's actually the women's JFA cup over there. Last Thursday night the mud maintenance was moved because the building. Rosel Five Wanderers One. A really dominant performance by Rosel, perhaps a bit of a surprise 'cause they too were evenly matched teams. I was a little bit surprised to see Rosel be so dominant. But goals was a doubles for Emma Lap page and Roe Flynn, I hope I pronounced that correctly. And then another go from Mayon as well for. Elle. So a really good performance from them. And then on Sunday it was St. Peter's won Sports Club Nil. The winner scored by Eliza Lehman st. Peter's. Women are interested in one Robbie over the season. 'cause if we go back to the start of the season, there was times where those games being scratched, they were, think they started a couple of games with nine or 10 players and it was a really tough time for them. But they've. Really developed well over the course of the season, they've kicked on and it's, they're becoming more competitive with, I think they've done a hell of a job there, haven't they?

Robbie

They have. 'cause yeah, the scrap, they were scrapping a few game, few games. We were worried if they'd even see out the season at one point because didn't, we didn't know about the rule if you scrapped too many games that you might get, picked out the league. So to see them still in it and performing well and getting results is a joy to see.

Andy

Yeah, and I think fair play to the players as well, because that's hard, especially if you are getting beat week after week and you don't feel like you're competitive to still have the sort of commitment and motivation to come back each time. That's, that says a lot about them as well, and they're getting the rewards from, hopefully that's a good foundation for 'em to go again next season as well. And for any other teams coming into the league, if they can increase the numbers. Any new teams coming in, it's a good sort of example of, it might be hard to start with, but things will improve. You just have to stick together.

Robbie

Yeah, that, that's what they've gotta be looking for forward to now is next season. So they've developed well over the season, so next, hopefully they start, next season they can have a, proper go at it and get, field a tip, full strength team every week. Fingers crossed for them.

Andy

Yeah, and I think, St. Peter's is a club. You know what they like they're very well run. They're very well resourced. I'd imagine they'll be looking to build a girl's academy which will, over the long term, will only benefit their senior women's team as well. Fingers crossed and hopefully they carry on with that progress. Last Saturday, Robbie Jersey Bulls this is one we spoke about beforehand. It was, they were away to Beckingham Town. It was Beckham Town. Beckham Town now Jersey Bulls one. The only goal came from Lauren Beckley and that's Beckham relegated back to step five. I know there's been I dunno what it's like now to be fair, but I know there's been a bit of needle between the teams in the past I'm sure there'll be some Bills fans with they taking a bit of pleasure. In that. But what it does is it barring a monument so burying a monumental gold different swing of about 14 and two games. That's the bills in the playoffs.

Robbie

Brilliant.

Andy

So they're six points clear of sitting bone, I think it is. Or Fon sitting bone and Fon are fifth and sixth. They're six points clear. But they're now only one point behind white leaf. And third they are 20 gold behind as well. If it comes to e equal points, they're not gonna claw that back a white leaf. But what it does mean is there two games left. There's a genuine chance that the bills could finish third and get a home playoff semi-final. Which when we spoke to Elliot a couple of weeks ago, he thought there'd be no chance. He thought that was gonna be a really tall order to do, but it just shows the consistency of winning games and seeing other teams slipping up was putting them right amongst.

Robbie

Yeah they've done their job perfectly, haven't they? Since the turn of the year. They've stayed on the heels of everyone putting pressure on the teams above them and being ready to pounce and capitalize on any mistakes that the, that they make. So they've done brilliantly. The consistency to, game in, game out to go and do that, remember we talked about every time they seemed to have a bad result, they never followed it up with another bad one. So they had good bounce back ability. Yeah. Showing there. So to keep the consistent form going is brilliant. And yeah, we're delighted for Elliot and the lads.

Andy

Yeah, it has been brilliant for 'em. And I haven't seen it. I don't know, but I'd love to see a form table since the turn of the year because so you've gotta, if in the playoffs. They've got really fancy their chances with the momentum they've got with the way they've been playing, the results they've got, they're definitely wants to watch and one, and once you're in the playoffs, as we keep saying, anything can happen.

Robbie

Yeah.

Andy

So if they finished stud, it would give 'em a whole playoff tie against White Leaf, who would likely be fourth. If the fourth they'll play away to White Leaf. I think that's pretty much set up. They're going to, they'll, they will play white leaf in the semi-final and then it will be crowd in versus either Fivesome or sitting ball and the other semi-final. So if the bills are to win that semi-final playoff against White Leaf, whether it's Springfield Weather away and either Fivesome or Sitting Ball, or to beat Croydon, it'll be a home final at that Springfield as well. So there's two games to go. There's still a number of permutations that can happen, but so far, so good for Elliot and Laia. They're right on track. And then Sunday we had Jersey Bills Women's Six Heartland. Now another dominant win for the bills. Natasha Keen scored Liam Morris chipped to keep her twice from 25, 30 hours. I bet keeper her, hated that. I remember chipping a keeper once in training. He'd chased me around the pitch for about 10 minutes trying to kill me. Actually played a charity game years ago. At Springfield. And do you remember Fletch, the Old Jersey Scottish keeper?

Robbie

Yeah. Craig,

Andy

yeah. Yeah. I chipped him and then went to, played at center half the rest of the game. I then go near him and I thought, I'm gonna get, I'm gonna catch a fly near an elbow here. But yeah the four mentioned Roe Fle, Roe Flynn from Rosell also scored for the bills. And Taylor Smith. Or Smith, and it was an goal as well. So a straightforward victory for the girls. They've, they can only beat the teams in front of 'em. They just have to go and do what they're expected to do. But another good win for 'em. I think that's then four games in now to this.

Robbie

Second league or whatever it was,

Andy

second league good guy.

Robbie

Split. Yeah.

Andy

Yeah. So there's a couple left. But they're is as good as champions and very well deserved as well. Been a really good week. Loads of goals, loads of excitement, loads of things going on. I'm gonna put you on the spot here, Robbie, 'cause I haven't mentioned it before now, but the emails come, oh, going, then the emails come out this week for player of the year nominations. Other than St. Paul's players do you have a short list of players that you're thinking about at the moment? You don't have to give your final three, but who's factoring your decision?

Robbie

We, we have we've had a little chat about it. 'Cause obviously you don't get to see much the most anyone you play or unless you have a week off. Yeah. But yeah, you can't go to, I'll, spoiler alert, you can't go past Carl Hines, to be honest. How many goals has he scored? 407, something like that. Now I think

Andy

he's on, I want to say he's on 43. Might be. Yeah. That's some record.

Robbie

That, that's, if it's, yeah, it's just frightening. I can't even put that into words about how, just how good that is. For local football, nearly half a century of goals in a season is just phenomenal. So yeah, there won't be many people getting above him, I don't think in the nominations.

Andy

After after Saturday, that was him. He's played 66 times for St. Cloud's first team, and he went through the a hundred goal barrier on Saturday. So I don't actually know what the exact number is now, but we just told he broke a hundred goals. So that's phenomenal.

Robbie

Yeah. Well done. Ey.

Andy

Yeah. Yeah. Very well deserved. What about

Robbie

yourself? What about you? What you thinking?

Andy

We, I think we've had a very short discussion on WhatsApp. I think ultimately it'll be James, that, that makes the decision. 'cause it's the manager's choice. Yeah. For me I can't see past Harry Scott if I'm honest. I think if I can't, if I can't vote for behind you, then Harry Scott would be the one for me. I think he's I just love watching him play. I think he's such a good player. He affects the game. And he's added goals and necessities game this year.

Robbie

Yeah. Yeah.

Andy

But he's a big influence every time he gets the ball, so he scores important goals as well.

Robbie

Yeah, that's what you, that's what you look for, isn't it? You don't want someone who, you know, always chip chips. It would be nice if someone always chips in with goals, but where they're getting like the fourth or the fifth in, like a five, six, nil, winning stuff. Big players affect games in positive ways, and yeah, Harry's done brilliantly this season, I think as well, yeah.

Andy

Correct. He

Robbie

as well.

Andy

Yeah. When he is on it, I think he, he affects a whole back four. So it's not just a fallback, that's something to worry about in the whole back four have to be concerned 'cause he can go past you, like he's not there he is. Very skillful. He's quick. He's strong. Go both sides. He's just had a really good player and as I say, he is, he started to add numbers to his game this year, which is a really important thing. And he's been a massive asset for wanderers. As I said, I don't know what James, who James will go with in his end, who in the end who his top three would be. But that's who I would like. I think Stan's had a great season. Yeah,

Robbie

he has

Andy

perhaps without the numbers to back it up, I think I just enjoy what I, he's a player. I enjoy watching play. I think he influences a game, can starting to take control of midfield at times as well. And the other one that we keep talking about, I big fan of you and Brody, another really good season. But I think there's been a lot of performances, a lot of people have had good season, so it'll be interesting to see who the final three are. And then who ultimately gets it? As I say, for me there, I think I'm always biased for strikers. For me, there's only one winner. However, there are other people who had really good seasons as well.

Robbie

Yeah. I'm surprised you didn't say Matty, Davey. He'll be gutted about that.

Andy

Yeah. He is been your opposition's best player all season, hasn't he?

Robbie

Hey I, you are not allowed to say that. I am. He's my player.

Andy

Don't worry. I'm cutting that out.

Robbie

Oh. Don't be a shit house.

Andy

Yeah. In fact I might play about the editing and make it sound like you said it, Robbie.

Robbie

Go for it.

Andy

Yeah. So looking ahead to the next week, there is quite, there are quite a few games we're getting to that stage in the season where there's games almost every night now. 'cause they're having to get the fixtures in time. So it's actually starts Tuesday night, tomorrow night, the 14th. We've got in championship one, we've got climate reserves versus one reserves. I think it's a. We, I called it a dead rubber. But Tim said last week he didn't, it wasn't there looking at their cup final or cup semifinals so that they've got coming up. So they're very focused. It'll be interesting to see It's down, its in cls, it's a quarter past six kickoff. Should be a good game. It's the, I think the top two teams in that league, facing off against each other. So I'm sure the climate slides would love nothing more than to, put the boot in a few times before that cup game and just leave a, a markup perhaps on next season on the championship won champions. But that's tomorrow night down at St. Clemens. We've then got Wednesday night the 15th up at Keny seven o'clock kickoff. It's Madeira versus St. Cloud's first team. So this is a one of our. Huge number of games We've got left, Madeira, I've shown at the weekend and actually against us last week. They're no pushover when they're on it. And I think with them, I think it's always the case. If you give them the sort of sense that they're in this game, they'll make it incredibly difficult for you. So we expect a tough game. But we, it's simple. We just have to win. We have to win. You've

Robbie

got, you've gotta win. There's no two ways about it. Is it? And you've gotta beat them on Tuesday just to keep this championship alive.

Andy

Yeah, and I think performance is secondary, but I think for us, our performance leads to the victories. I think if we play like we did Saturday, then I think we should have. Enough. But it's gonna be a tough ask and I think we are missing a few. So we'll see how it goes. And then Thursday night, the 16th, a big one. It's Jersey Wonderous first versus Central ad again, up at Keny 6 45 kickoff.

Robbie

Yeah that's gonna be a good game. St Beard's con like will be high or high on confidence after their weekend result against us. Yeah, under the lights as well. So it's just games thick and fast now, isn't it? And everything has a, an effect on the lead. And hopefully it'll be a good game.

Andy

Yeah, and I think it's one of these things, and even I look at our game against Madeira this time of the season, literally anything can happen.

Robbie

Yeah. So you, it's ju

Andy

you think. Rights. So climate should beat me dear and wonder, I should beat simple ad. I don't think either game's a gimme have to be there, have to be at it, have to be right up for the game and just go de deliver a performance that gets the result, as I say, by hook or by crook. You just need to get three points. Hopefully we'll see where we are come Saturday. In terms of have there been any changes at the top of the league in terms of how it's looking? But that takes us into the weekends game. So the Saturday, the 18th, it was supposed to be St. Cle versus St. Paul's. But that has been postponed because of the under 16 Meti which takes place on Sunday. So we'll have a chat about that in a few minutes. Robbie, just in terms of what we think. I'd like to think that we'll have another game rescheduled there as soon as we don't have any spare days at all. And the opt-in's on the second. So I don't know what it is at the moment. What if they're gonna move again, what's gonna happen? But hopefully we'll have a game move to there. But that's on the 18th. We've got the. The JFA cup on at four o'clock on Saturday up at Rosell. If Rosell first versus Peter first, that would be a really good game.

Robbie

That will be a good game that,

Andy

yeah. So Peter's full of confidence after like winning two of the last three Rosell champions of Premiership two coming up. That'll be a really good challenge. I think it'll be an interesting result. And then. Moving on. We've got championship one. We've got Stre reserves versus VE Reserves On Saturday, it's a two o'clock kickoff up at Saint Lad. And over 30 fives, we've got Rosel over 30 fives versus Portuguese Club and St. Lawrences versus St. Clemens. That's a two o'clock kickoff as well. That is there's a lot of climate that's climate's game in hand. So if they win that, put some level on punch or wonders. And as I say, they're really tight in terms of head to head games. One, everything is dead even. So some really good football. And then moving on into next week, I don't know when. We'll get a chance next week to do the podcast. I thought we'd cover some of these now. Next. On, so next Tuesday. The 21st Tuesday, yeah. Yeah. Tuesday the 21st. We've got Ville versus St. Claimants at Ville six 30 kickoff, and we've got Wanderers versus St. Paul six 30 up at Wanderers. So I hope both of us are very happy after, by next Tuesday evening, about nine o'clock. I hope we're both really happy. But we'll see two really good games a lot going on there. And then. Next Wednesday the 22nd, we've got some one versus Saint ad up at one. That's a six 30 kickoff.

Robbie

Massive game for ST ones. That isn't it?

Andy

Yeah. Actually next Monday, I think. Yeah, next Monday night. We missed that one. We've got Rose reserves versus St. Paul's reserves in championship two. And next on the 22nd, the Wednesday night, we'll get St. Clima reserves versus Grl reserves. I think that might be the end of the championship one season after that. Yeah, and that's all of the men's games. And then just at the weekend we've got, Relle versus St. Peter in the women's JFA cup that's at Springfield. That's a five o'clock kickoff on the 19th and on the 21st. At 6:00 PM we've got Rosell versus Peter's women again, and that's in the league. And that's up at R So there's a lot of games going on over the next week, but they all matter now. There's very few sort of dead rubbers. This stage of the season is there.

Robbie

Yeah. It's the business end of the season, isn't it? And because all the leagues have been competitive and it's kept going, that's what's made it all come down to the last few games, which is good for Jersey football.

Andy

Great stuff. So hopefully we'll have more games. As I say, we are hopeful that we'll get a rescheduled game in on Saturday 'cause I just don't see where we fit it in. If they don't fit a game in for St. Clementson on Saturday, the JFA literally will have to sit there with their fingers crossed and hope that wonders win every game. Umalthough. Otherwise, the league won't be decided in time for the Optum. So I don't know what they're gonna do there. But anyway, that's a tongue in cheek comment just to declare I'm not casting this person's on anyone. Because do you know what? You can make these comments and for me it's quite clear. I'm joking, but. Someday we'll get offended somewhere. We know where we are in terms of the fixtures. It's a challenge, but everyone's working really hard to get it resolved I've got no doubt that we'll get to get it fixed in the end. Looking forward to the weekend, we've also got the bills. So I'll start actually with Sunday the 19th is Medal Sports versus Jersey Bill Women. So two o'clock kickoff. Medal sports are company second. They've played two games and have a hundred percent record. I can't see anything other than that. A comfortable bulls victory there. Just on the basis of how the season went I dunno, you, I don't imagine you think any different, Robbie?

Robbie

No, I don't. And it's just another game that they just need to get out the way just to secure the title. So comfortable win for the Bulls women, I think three or four n.

Andy

Yeah. And then on the 18th we come back to Saturday, it's Deal Town versus Jersey Bull's. One o'clock kickoff down in deepest, darkest Kent, and I think that's almost in France. It's so far, it's so far down in the Southeast. But that's the Bull's last regular away game of the season. And it's probably the. I think if you go back a few weeks, remember saying they had six games left and four of them are against the bottom six. This is one of the ones that wasn't deal or company eighth. So there're only a few places behind, but they can't make the playoffs, so I think they're out of it now. So I don't wanna say it's a dead rubber for them, but they've, they don't really have anything to play for.

Robbie

No. That hopefully their players are already on the beach, so Good to see.

Andy

Yeah. Fingers crossed The bulls can go there. Get the job done. Get as, as high a place in the playoffs as they can. White Leaf are actually home at home to Ashford, United to a ninth. So they're both playing teams in a similar place. White Leaf at home rather than away. But again, they're playing teams who have had decent seasons and will be competitive assuming they're not on the beach. So we'll see how that one goes, but fingers crossed they can get the result and take it to the last game they potentially finished stud.

Robbie

Be a massive achievement for Elliot and the lads if they can pinch that third place. Hopefully they do it.

Andy

Under eight. Under 18. Ate this Sunday, I believe. Robbie. You've got half the squad there. How are they looking?

Robbie

Yeah, we had the squad sent through today, so I think there's one more, a 16th player's gonna be added to the squad later on, but yeah, it's looking good. Pleased for the lads young young Alfie Young. There we go. He's been called up that's brilliant. He's a young left back for us. Just waiting on him to turn 16 before we get him into senior foot, so I think he's got 10 days left till his birthday, so yeah. Massive. Well done to him. But big shout out to all the lads and hopefully they get the right result and, be the gorny mob comfortably over here. Fingers crossed for them.

Andy

We've got Paul Burton and Alfie Kerry in Israel, Alfie, who started with the under 20 ones over in Guernsey, and as we said, celebrated in style. Hopefully quieter, hopefully a quieter weekend for him this time. But yeah, I think there's, you look at that squad and there's so many of them playing senior football week in, week out, and that has to stand them in good stead going into a game like this.

Robbie

Yeah, definitely. I dunno how well the Sey lads are doing, in their division or if they're getting much senior action or anything. But you look in Jersey squad and the vast majority of them are regular players team, so fingers crossed for them they all look in good shape. So yeah. Don't see why they can't go out and get a result.

Andy

Yeah, fingers crossed they go and keep the ate in Jersey get the result, but all the very best of 'em. Yeah, we managed to get through a whole podcast there without your internet going near Robin. Yeah. Hopefully we can do it. Got your fingers crossed.

Robbie

Fingers crossed.

Andy

Yeah. And that, that's really it. A shorter podcast. Shorter podcast this week. Loads of football coming up, loads of really important games. Lots of things being settled at this time of the season. Robbie

Comfortable two, no win for Manu tonight. I think

Andy

ca carricks at the wheel is he. Okay, we'll leave at that Robbie sound mate. Thank you very much mate.

Robbie

Cheer Luck for Wednesday, mate. I'll try and get, I'll try my best to get up there. All right.

Andy
