In this reflective episode of From the Well to the World, Pastor Dee and Bernie linger in the “in-between” days of Acts 1:14—after Jesus’ ascension and before Pentecost. Through the themes of waiting, whispers, and the wind to come, they invite you to see how prayer, unity, and remembering Jesus can shape you in seasons when God has promised—yet hasn’t revealed the timing. If you’re waiting for clarity, healing, or direction, this gentle meditation offers hope for the pause and courage to trust what God is forming before the outpouring.

Welcome back to From the Well to the World. Today we want to invite you into a holy pause, a quiet space in Scripture that we often rush past. We are calling this reflection waiting, whispers, wind. Let's begin with God's Word, Acts 1, verse 14. All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary, the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
SPEAKER_01That verse plants us right in the upper room between Jesus' ascension and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.
SPEAKER_00Scripture tells us there were 120 believers gathered together. They were obedient, they were praying, and they were waiting. Waiting is not easy, especially when God has made a promise but has not told you how or when it is going to unfold.
SPEAKER_01And the waiting wasn't silent. They prayed together, they searched the scripture, they talked things through, including painful things like the loss of Judas and what being faithful would look like going forward. This was real community.
SPEAKER_00I like to imagine the quiet moments when the prayers paused, when someone whispered, Do you remember how Jesus welcomed us? How he noticed us? How Jesus prayed for us by name. How Jesus healed the sick.
SPEAKER_01They would have remembered his compassion, the way he treated the children, the way he touched the outcast, the way he wept openly and prayed honestly. Those whispers reminded the disciples of who Jesus truly was and who they were being shaped to become.
SPEAKER_00They did not yet hear the wind. They did not feel the nudge of Holy Spirit, and they did not yet see the fire, and they did not yet speak in new tongues, but something was already happening. Waiting was preparing them. Remembering was shaping them, and prayer was aligning them. God had a plan.
SPEAKER_01Pentecost came out of obedience, unity, and trust, and that's still true today.
SPEAKER_00Maybe you are in a waiting season right now, waiting for clarity, waiting for healing, or waiting for direction. And before Holy Spirit shows you God's plan through what some in the New Testament called the holy wind and fire, God often speaks in whispers.
SPEAKER_01And before power comes, presence settles in. Don't rush past the waiting, don't ignore the memories. God must be forming something beautiful in the pause.
SPEAKER_00Shall we pray? Heavenly Father, meet us in our waiting places. Teach us to listen for the whispers of Holy Spirit and to trust you before the wind begins to blow. And help us remember Jesus clearly. His compassion, his healing, his prayers, his presence. Shape our hearts in the waiting so we can be ready for what you pour out on us next. We wait with hope. We trust you completely. In Jesus' precious name we pray. Amen. Shalom.
