SPEAKER_00

Wake up, look at my phone that tells me the temp says my brisket's internal temp is 135. Great. The smoker's internal r uh like temp is 135. That's an issue. Well, it's not gonna raise the fire. So, Brady, I have a question for you. What's it like when the corn is high but the chaos is higher?

SPEAKER_01

It's a lot of things, but it's never boring. This is the Farm Y files. Life between the rows. Are we rolling? We are. We're back. It always feels so good to record. It does.

SPEAKER_00

And it's extremely hot out. It is so hot out, but I also this was just a really busy weekend too. So it feels really good to record and just have like this to end. And yeah, I agree with you 100%.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. I told Addy, I'm like, we need to just do a catch-up video because or episode because I feel like a lot has happened and we've seen each other a lot, but like 4th of July, after everything got done and we were putting the kids to bed and whatnot, I'm like, I didn't get to talk to Addy like at all.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and our 4th of July plans also changed like kind of last minute. Like so, yeah, there's just a lot of things that happened. But yeah, 4th of July looked a little different this year. It did, but still good. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But you know, as we like change with the seasons of life, it just everything looks different.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, for sure.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because like weeks ago we were gonna go to Ozarks, and we were like so pumped to go, and it was all working out. We finally convinced Tyler to go, and then Renee's like, hey, we rented the house out, isn't that fun?

SPEAKER_00

And I'm like, no, it's not fun right now. It's no, I mean it's good. Like what we said was like it's good that they're renting it out.

SPEAKER_01

We're excited. We kind of thought, you know, like, okay, maybe this is a gods, a god thing, yeah, that maybe we shouldn't go, but it was still disappointing.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and honestly, we so we were in the Ozarks a year ago today. So like everything is popping up on my time hop, and I'm like, yes, I know I want to be in the Ozarks.

SPEAKER_01

Tyler was like, because he's like, why do you like going down so bad? And I was like, Okay, my my duties don't change. You know, I'm still like taking care of the kids and doing meals and all of the things, but you're at the lake on the water, looking over the whole cove, and it's just like there's a peaceful feeling to it.

SPEAKER_00

Mine's peace. Like I I find so much more like mind-relieving stress and mind-relieving like happiness, just not necessarily the lake, but like Is it like the atmosphere of it or something? Yeah, and I could I it doesn't have to be the Ozarks, like I just love being it put me on a boat, love it.

SPEAKER_01

Really? Cody does like near a bottle of body of water. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

And I I love to fish, I love to do all of those things, and like Cody doesn't, which is like weird that I married someone that doesn't really love I mean not really weird that I married someone, but you you know, like so when I get to go do those things, I love to do it.

SPEAKER_01

Like I well and you're not doing it all the time either, you don't make time for that kind of stuff a lot.

SPEAKER_00

So when it's like when I get the opportunity to go do it, oh yeah, I'm doing it. So yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know. There is definitely just a vibe about the lake. Whether you're boating or doing a day of bar hopping, or even like I was telling Tyler, like even getting the kids down for a nap and just going to sit on the dock.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

It's there's just something so relaxing.

SPEAKER_00

Especially at that house, it's back in the cove. It's not you don't hear the boats go flying through.

SPEAKER_01

And it's a big cove, but it's very smooth and yeah. Yeah, that it's not a busy cove at all.

SPEAKER_00

And it's not deep. No, so it's nice. But also on the 4th of July down at the Ozarks, they had that giant storm.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, we had some friends out there, and I actually Snapchat her and I was like, just thinking of you guys, I said I have anxiety, I was worried about you just seeing all the news on Facebook. Like, hope you guys weren't out in it. And she's like, Yeah, we were like, thank the Lord for some strangers that grabbed our kids. But yeah, this is crazy. All the videos I saw, the wind, and they said it came out of nowhere.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was insane. All the and I also texted one of my friends, and he was like, Yeah, it was 70 mile per hour winds. Uh-huh. And we just got stuck there, but there wasn't really anything that you can do. No, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, that was crazy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I mean we dodged a bullet on that one, but we did, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I really do believe like all things work out the way that they should, but still, so yeah, we were gonna do that, and then um my sister always does a big Fourth of July party, so we and Tyler and I and the kids went down for that, and we normally try to stay, but I was like, I'm not doing that this year. Like, I don't want to pack all their stuff for one night, and then also they don't really like big fireworks, they're still at that age where they're scary, yeah. Um, and so I don't want to like try and stay, and then they're all wigged out, and then we're just driving home and looking at the fireworks from the car. So I'm like, we're gonna leave early. So we left at four and got back so we could get the kids down and watch fireworks. And it actually was funny because you know, we had people come over and end up working out and it was fun, but like Taylor and she didn't go to bed till the rest of us went to bed. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

She hung out. Well sh and I was kind of surprised because it was like 10:30 by the time. I know. And honestly, on the 4th of July, we'll get into that just a little bit. But it towards the end, Cody was just taking his time, lighting off the fireworks, and I am so antsy. I'm so people, not peopled out because like this was my tribe. Like I really enjoyed the people with me, but there was kids and fireworks. And and they start to get to that like delirious, like health fear, tired stage. And my thing is, it's like I'm not a big firework person. Like, I've seen too many hands get blown off, I've seen too many people miss fingers, too much blood on 4th of July. Like, I am traumatized by the 4th of July. Well, and especially from last year when the firework like shot at us into the garage. Like, I'm just not a big 4th of July person. So I am a little bit traumatized by that. And then the poor neighbor kid just kept running out into the street after every single firework that was like freshly lit, and it was just stressing me out a little bit, but it's fine. Like, obviously, everyone stayed safe, and they just got to that point. So I was just like, let's just get these fireworks lit off, please. Like, don't take your time. Like, come on, let's go, let's go. So it was fine.

SPEAKER_01

But um Yeah, Branson did really good staying asleep for the little ones, but then once the big ones started going off, he kept waking, and so finally I just went in there and like rocked and opened the window and watched the fireworks, and it was fine. But yeah, like when there'd be a long pause, he must have been like in a deep sleep or like really subtle, and then would go off and he'd like jerk, and then we'd he'd be on a light sleep, just toss and turn, and then again it would happen, he'd go in a deep sleep, and I'm like, Cody, let's go, just get it over with. I know, I know.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it was really fun, really good memories, and all of that stuff, but yeah, on the 4th of July 2, actually the 3rd of July, it was late at night, probably about 10 30, 11 o'clock. I started my brisket, never smoked. Oh yeah, I forgot about that. Yeah, so I never smoked a brisket a day in my life. And so Cody and I went to And mind you guys, she does not have a trigger. No, like this is a like smoker that you have to keep like real wood, like wood and coal, and that's it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, wild.

SPEAKER_00

No, thank you. You're gonna babysit that thing. Yeah, so I was up until about 2 33 o'clock.

SPEAKER_01

Until about Cody sleeping.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, so of course. Cody I asked Cody to come out and help me at least get the like coal started, and so all of that stuff. He's the firefighter of the family, clearly. So he comes out and he gets it started. And so I get it all put up and I I put the meat in after it gets up to temp and Cody goes to bed, and so I'm out here babysitting it, making sure I'm watching it on the thermostat of the temp and all of that stuff.

SPEAKER_01

And did you get the um like probes that go to your phone? Yeah, yeah, yeah. So good.

SPEAKER_00

Well, there was like a little digital thing that you can look at like right outside the smoker, but it then it bleaches to your phone. So I'm watching it on my phone, or if I was outside, I would just watch it from there. And I'm just babysitting it and I'm throwing more wood in there and keeping it to temp, or opening the air to, you know, get it more hot, less hot. That's great. All of the things. So finally I go to bed and I crawl into bed about 3 30, and I tell Cody, I wake him up and I said, Set your alarm for 4 30, 5 o'clock, so you can get up and you can go check the the brisket that you babies have for the the whole time. Yeah, so the last six hours at this point. He's like, Okay. So 4 30 comes, his alarm goes off, I look at my phone, and it doesn't it nothing needs to be done. Okay. So I'm like, okay, cool. So I said, set it for six, and I need you to go out there, and at that point I know it will need at least stirred around. And he goes, Okay, so six o'clock comes around. I am obviously like in a deep sleep. Yeah. I don't I always sleep the best in the morning.

SPEAKER_01

Like those early, early morning hours. I don't know why.

SPEAKER_00

But this isn't early, early, this is like middle of the night hours for me because I went to sleep so late. So six o'clock comes around. I don't hear his alarm go off. So I'm just I'm just sleeping, whatever. And finally my alarm goes off because I then set my alarm for 8 30. So two hours after his. Okay. Wake up, look at my phone that tells me the temp says my brisket's internal temp is 135. Great. The smoker's internal like temp is 135. That's an issue. Well, it's not gonna raise the fire. So I'm in bed. I then get out of bed. I go because Cody's not in bed. Cody's not in bed. Cody is not not in bed. I go out and I try to get the fire back started. I get it started and it's now fine. And then all of a sudden, then Cody, I'm trying to call Cody, can't get a hold of him. Phone is ringing, and which is like typically if he's in no service. Right, that's true. Like, it just goes straight to voicemail. It doesn't ring. But it's ringing. So I'm like something's not right. Like, I know he's here. Turns out he is actually in the living room asleep in the recliner. So I am like So what did he do? He got up and He got up, looked at the digital thing. Oh, it doesn't need to be warmed up or whatever. Because he said he said it was at 250. Okay. I and you the app also can tell you shows right time. So I'm like, it was not Cody. It was 150. You might need your eyes checked. And so he was just like, Oh, I'm sorry. He felt so bad. So then pretty much we babysat it the rest of the day, and um, well, I did. But it actually turned out not too bad. I know.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, brought it up and honestly, for your first brisket, like that's scary. I it was scary. I don't know, it just is anytime I smoke anything, and I have not done anything crazy, like just ribs, like pork butt, whatever. Yeah. And it is, it's just tedious. It's like I've spent hours and hours and hours on this thing.

SPEAKER_00

If it turns out like crap, what I know, and that's why what I told you, I was just like, I will for sure bring creamed corn. And you were bringing you were doing hamburgers or whatever. And so I was just like, it was so thrown together too. It was just like last minute type thing. And so that's why I was just like, I'm not doing this. But it was also just like a really sentimental thing because my parents always used to do like um maybe not specifically always on the 4th of July, but they always used to do like a salmon. My mom still would do it. Like they would always smoke salmon. Okay, and so it was really nice to like be able to use that smoker, but like I just had to learn it by myself.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like, I don't know what I'm doing. Yeah, and a brisket's a hell of a meat.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and I I and I chose that because we have four briskets in our freezer right now. Like we just don't use them, and we have another cow coming. Oh, do you really? Yeah, so I was just like, well, we have to use them. So I'm bringing another two to the golf tournament. We're gonna smoke them at the golf tournament. Oh, there you go.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, so I have plans to use them, but it's I mean, good for you though to like go out of your cupboard zone to try that because I get anxious with our trigger, and that regulates everything on its own. Yeah. So I can't imagine not.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, no, this is like you you regulate everything yourself.

SPEAKER_01

No, thank you.

SPEAKER_00

So I mean it was fun. Definitely something to learn from.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

You think you'll keep trying to do it? Oh, I think I'll do it again. Yeah, yeah. But again, it's 16 hours at least. And so it's a two-day ordeal. Try some other meats too. Yeah. I mean, and that's the other thing. Like it if it's a brisket, that's 16 hours.

SPEAKER_01

I actually have started using our trigger a lot this summer. Just like to not have to turn the oven on to get my house hot.

unknown

That's it.

SPEAKER_01

I just like a lot of chicken and like pork chops and we stay quite a bit, actually, because Talen does really well with it. But yeah, I don't know, it's just nice to not have to warm the whole house up.

SPEAKER_00

See, and I am also super bad because I will warm the house up if I don't have to go use my grill. Cody loves our grill. Oh. And so he'll use the grill a lot. And I'll use it. It's actually my grandparents' grill.

SPEAKER_01

Um, because it's just like a gas grill.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, yeah. And but if I'm like still trying to work and I'm finishing up something, but I need to get dinner started or something like that, I'm sorry, I'm throwing hamburgers in the oven. Really? I'm just cooking them in there. It's less that's crazy to me. It's less greasy to me, and I feel like it it doesn't give a good like charb or a crunch to it, but it I mean it's so much easier for me to still be at my computer working and just throw them in there. I don't have to flip them or do anything that just set them in. And I get that.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, the other reason I prefer doing the grill is so Taylor can be outside and play. Right. And I can put Branson in the swing out there and swing him, and like they're pretty well contained. So that's actually it's kind of a downtime for me too. And I love my black stone, like I cook a lot on that, but I hate cleaning it.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And because I won't just leave it like I scrape it all off and then like wash it down nice and clean it off, and then I'll I want to say glaze it, but that is not the right word. Like s season it, I guess. Like just put oil on it, and then but that's a lot of work because you have to cook everything, and then normally we want to go eat while it's hot, so I shut it off, and then I have to go back out there later that night and turn it back on to get it hot and do all the cleaning. It's just it's more, it's a lot more tedious than the butt um trigger is, but yeah. No, I like grill season, but I really think I'm ready. You sent me that TikTok 166 days, guys. I just looked it up. I get so giddy about it, it's disgusting. I know. I literally cannot wait for like ESB and like Okay, you know.

SPEAKER_00

Here's the thing I I am I'm trying to say. Okay, love my garden. I mean Oh my god, we were gonna talk about this. The garden is a complete mess this time this time of year. It's it's so sad. Mine's not bad. Mine is so sad. It's we're just not even gonna talk about mine. It's the weeds have taken away. Yes, and I just don't have the time, I don't have the energy. I just I keep it. That's okay. That's fine. Anywho, but once I do love this season, but like when we are in a hundred and ten degree heat, yeah, give me a frickin' peppermint mocha or even a pumpkin spice.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, let me sit on the couch or the porch with a hoodie on.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and bed rot, couch rot, chair rot. I don't care. Let me watch some college football and let me talk college football with some people.

SPEAKER_01

NFL, yeah. And I nah, NFL is a little bit I know, you and I are on the different ends of the spectrum. I I don't mind. We've talked about this on here, I think. NFL is like broad spectrum for me. I like to watch any of them. College, I'm more like K-State Huskers. Like and see, I'm I'm opposite. You only want to watch like a certain team of NFL and then you'll you're more bought broad spectrum with uh with college.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean obviously I'm I'm more towards the Hawkeyes, right? But I will watch or I will try to find time to watch the Huskers, K-State, you know, those other teams that are pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Which I think too. Um we started doing the um fantasy football, and so that's just made it really fun. Yeah, you know, and see and I you have people to like look for to watch, and so that makes it more interesting. But yeah, but no, um, okay, wait, what was I saying? How we got into this? Oh, I'm uh with the Traeger. I have enjoyed that, but I am looking forward to like and having like chili in the crock pot and little drizzles outside and like it literally makes me so you know the song that's Wake Me Up When September ends.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, that's the song that's playing through my head right now. Like Wake Me Up When September ends. Like I know like football starts before that, but I just want good fall weather, and then I want Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But and then we go to Mexico. I was gonna say we go to Mexico! I'm feeling a little bit sick about that. Just because I'm like, okay, I'm actually leaving my kids for five days. That's crazy, but it's gonna be fine. Yeah, we have a wedding, and we actually have a birthday party up in Lincoln this Saturday, and I'm debating if we're gonna be drinking, if we should just stay, but I don't know if I'm quite ready to leave them overnight with somebody else yet. So I don't know about that, but we definitely have a wedding out in central Nebraska on the 1st of August that we are for sure leaving them for. So I'm like, ready or not? Like I have to. So that'll be a good little pre one night leave them.

SPEAKER_00

One night compared to five nights. Yeah, literally.

SPEAKER_01

Super five nights or four nights.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know, don't care. It's Mexico. Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So yeah, I don't know. I'm just looking forward to that. I think I was enjoying summer more when we were having like consistent 80-degree takes. Like 80 is so much more manageable and enjoyable than 98 every day. It's just not a good time.

SPEAKER_00

I just think I'm just kind of burnt out with summer because I know my summer here is going to ramp up and I am going to be incredibly busy here.

SPEAKER_01

See, that's where we've been opposites this summer. So I'm kind of like taking a deep, like a deep breath and like, oh, did it, we got through it. Yeah. Because we still are busy, but we're not like back-to-back events every weekend. Whereas like there were a couple weekends, it was literally Friday, birthday party, Saturday, I had a baby shower in the morning, and then I'd have some sort of get together, and that that night, or just being gone and like not getting to go to church. Like, I didn't go to church for three weeks, and that not even that's pretty big for you. Isn't it? Yeah, like that's just something I really look forward to. I'm like, okay, I'm I feel mentally ill. I need to go to church.

SPEAKER_00

So I'm just like looking at my calendar. I at least have something planned.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even want to know. I know when we were texting about getting together for the next podcast recording, it's gonna be like an act of Congress to get us together.

SPEAKER_00

Like you probably I'm not gonna share. Like, but like literally something every single day. Like, literally every single day.

SPEAKER_01

So does that go in? Okay, so is this because you're like That's October 4th. Oh my god. Like that's how Okay, that's what I was gonna ask. So, like your summer, that's obviously busy, but do you continue busy because that's going into like wedding season with silken slate?

SPEAKER_00

Um, I would say August is completely insanity for me. In what aspect of your life? Personal. Oh, okay. I would consider that personal. Okay. Um, I say that because it's backtrack. This upcoming weekend I'm actually out of town because um Oh, you told me that, yeah. Yep, Cody and my cousins and I we're gonna go to a baseball game. Like the cosmic chili peppers is what it's called, but it's like a Savannah Bananas game. But um, so it's glowing. That'll be fun for you. And we're gonna go out to Des Moines, we're gonna do that. So that's excited.

SPEAKER_01

Cody's going with you.

SPEAKER_00

Yep, so all of us, um, it's um four couples that are going. Well, I should say my brother's going, but yeah, he doesn't, he's not in a couple, but he's he's going he's coming. So we'll be out of town this weekend, but then next weekend is obviously your sister in law's wedding. So that's pretty busy, and then that gets us right into August, and then isn't that nuts?

SPEAKER_01

Like it was just the fourth of July, and we literally are almost done with July.

SPEAKER_00

Well, and so when that starts, I have a wedding on a Friday. Oh, we Which is kind of weird, yeah, for me, but so I have the weekend open. However, that doesn't include all the tractor pulls. Oh, that Cody wants to attend. Well that She hasn't you guys haven't really been this year. Our the tractor that we pull with or that we go with, um it the motor isn't put together. Oh that's why I see Plus there is a longer break right about this time of year. So it starts up a little bit in June, but then it ramps up right at the start of August. So that's why I'm so unfamiliar with Yeah, so it's like back to back to back. So a Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and then um a Tuesday, and then a Saturday. So it's just kind of insane there. But then, yep, have my golf tournament for a week in August, and then I come back for a week, and then we have another wedding, and then we have another wedding, and then Yeah, I was gonna say silk and slate.

SPEAKER_01

Like fall just seems to be like kind of turning into pure wedding season.

SPEAKER_00

Would you say that? Yes.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like people are leaning more towards fall than they are springtime.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it just sucks because obviously, um we just live in a farming community, so we can't count on our husbands to help. Right. So that that kind of plays a factor into it. But then we have our farm wife's event.

SPEAKER_01

I am so excited. Okay, how are you feeling about that?

SPEAKER_00

Um I am actually really excited for it. Good! Um I am a little anxious that I'm gonna go straight into another trip right after that. So, I mean, it it just happened to work out that way, and that was really the only times that it was available to do it. I know you get peopled out, but I think Oh, I'm definitely gonna get peopled out at that.

SPEAKER_01

You are. But the people that you're around majority of the time are definitely like your at least I feel like we are, you're like cup-filling like people, you know, so hopefully that'll be better for you.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and I don't necessarily I don't want it to come off as like these are like bad people that I'm gonna be spending time with. It's just like I am very much a person where I I will share my story when I'm it when it's time for me to share my story, and I will share my point of view when it's time for me to share my point of view. But do not come into my face asking me to share, and don't ask come into my face like you're very much like comfortability, like you want to be at a certain point, I feel yeah, and I'm gonna sit in the corner and I'm going to I'm gonna process everything on my own accord, and and when I'm ready to share, I'll share. I've been to some work conferences that are like hey Addy, what what's your thoughts on this? And I'm like, no, don't don't call on me. So I like I really just hope that it's not like this super like people-y person that's gonna be like the MC that's gonna be like in my face, not specifically in my face, but all of our faces.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know what to expect. Yeah, I don't know if it'll be more like speakers that we're just like listening and observing, or if it's gonna be more like icebreakers where everybody's involved in talking.

SPEAKER_00

Which I know maybe a mix of both. We'll have to talk at some point. I like I know that, but you do? I don't know that. How do you know that? I mean, uh we'll just have to like mingle. It says it on the thing that we have to like at least.

SPEAKER_01

When you say talk, I'm thinking like stand on a stage.

SPEAKER_00

Oh gosh, no. Gosh no, no, no, no. Um, no. But like I know that I know that I'm gonna have to do people in, so like I'm gonna prepare it ahead of time.

SPEAKER_01

I know you get nervous, but you do fine. You may think a certain way inside, like, oh gosh, I hate this, I feel anxious, I feel awkward.

SPEAKER_00

But like on the outside, you are very composed and like I think that I talk about that at work sometimes too, because it they're like, why do you not like public speaking? And it's just like there's a difference between public speaking and speaking about something that I am confident in speaking on. I can I agree, I can teach in front of a ton of students, and I know what I'm talking about, and I'm very confident in it. Yep, and so I have no problem talking about it. Like, I I put like that does not make anxiety.

SPEAKER_01

But like you're very private in that aspect.

SPEAKER_00

I am, and and so like that's where it's like I have no problem coming in front of a group of students and teaching them how to wash their hands, teaching them how to put an IV in, a fully catheter. I have no problem doing that. I'm very confident in it and I know how to field questions. Ask me how I'm feeling about um politics, how I'm feeling about the world today, how I like things that I really need to like put deep thought into that I need to like process my own emotions and my own thoughts and my own feelings. That's where I'm like, okay, nope, I'm putting up a wall, I'm not gonna answer your question.

SPEAKER_01

Which and honestly, like you can look at that both ways. I look at it as a positive because like thank the Lord you're not like an arrogant person. You're not gonna talk about something and act like you know what you're talking about when in re when in reality you have no idea. Right. Like, because there's as I've gotten older and met people, there's a lot of people that do that. There's been many times where I like catch somebody, and it's always been men, especially like I I think as a woman they look at me and they're you know, like anything with farming, they're like I don't know anything about it. So they'll like make a comment or talk about something, and I'm like, that is not accurate at all. And they're just like totally talking out their butt.

SPEAKER_00

So not the better words, but anyway, thankfully you're not that way. Yeah, yeah, and that's just why I'm like I hope that this event is not like that, but I don't think it will be. No. I'm just also a very emotional person sometime too. So like I'm looking forward to it for sure. So I think, but like I think it will be a bucket filling like we go accent and all that stuff, and then Sunday when we're driving back. We need to figure out uh Yeah, we'll have to figure out logistics there. But uh like when we're driving back on Sunday, like I think that will be a good de decompression time. Like I'm not super worried about that.

SPEAKER_01

Because how far is it from Kansas City?

SPEAKER_00

I think only three hours.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, is it?

SPEAKER_00

I think it's like Kansas City is right about halfway.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, that's not bad.

SPEAKER_00

So because it's right about Kansas City is like three hours from the lake, right? Yeah, yeah, so it's three hours, three hours.

SPEAKER_01

Okay. I'm excited. I was gonna make my kids and husband come with me, but Tyler told me no. Uh-huh. And I haven't even told you this yet. Okay, yeah, no. Um, so it's just gonna be us, but it'll be fine. Yeah. It's it'll be fine. It's not as long as I had to leave them the last time, so I'm excited. Yeah. But what else? I feel like we haven't talked about like anything. My 13th reason lately has been we had to start pivots.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Which we're vertigating, like that's not horrible, you know. But then we're actually like running pivots. We did thankfully. We were b blessed again. We had an inch 70 here last gosh, what day was that? I don't remember Sunday, something, Saturday, exactly. Decent amount of rain on Friday, yeah. So that was really nice. But before that, we you know, we were trying to run pivots, and it's just like I literally texted Tyler because he's like calling me. Oh, this pivot's doing this. We had a um alignment at fault on this one, gotta go here. Never mind, not gonna be home for supper. And then, yeah, so I text him back, love irrigation season. He's like me too with the upside down smiley face. Oh, but I really like I I hate to complain or say anything even remotely like negative because we've been so blessed this year. Yeah. I mean, it's freaking July, it was July 3rd when we were running a circle around on on stuff.

SPEAKER_00

I was gonna say, I feel bad for Cody because his dad's out on fire detail out of the fire.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah, I forget he does that.

SPEAKER_00

We're on fire right now, so he's on it, or he's by himself right now, so I just feel bad because he's like moving cows and I mean thankfully Emily's around, so she's been incredibly helpful. Oh good. So it's nice. Yeah. Yeah, it's just farming season in the summer, like it seems like it's not as you know.

SPEAKER_01

I used to um I used to really break down like our quote unquote busy seasons as being planting and harvest in the spring and the fall, but now I basically like what March to November is busy season.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Like now that we've gotten older and are just like I mean the guys have been fully farming, but I don't know, with kids it just seem we're just like it just seems a different era.

SPEAKER_00

Mine's 12 months. Yeah, November to March is calving season.

SPEAKER_01

Props to you guys. I I miss that part a little bit, but no.

unknown

No.

SPEAKER_01

I miss the like the like picturesque Instagram, like the baby calves and that kind of stuff. But yeah, no, getting to leave whenever I want and Tyler not having to go check in the middle of the night. Like, yeah, no. No thanks. Okay, good for you guys.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's like a fever dream when we're checking every hour in the middle of the night. It's literally a fever dream. I don't know how we survive.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't know how you survive either. I'm so thankful you guys are down in the farm though, because I think that has been such a so helpful in your relationship, your business, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Uh, all around. For sure. For sure. Like Cody's checking more often now that we're down there, but I'm at least seeing the whites of his eyeballs a little bit more. Like I used to just not see him at all. Yeah. So that's at least nice.

SPEAKER_01

We're kind of running out of time for an episode, but I think we're gonna run it into a second episode because I have a story that I have not even told you about that I feel compelled to share. Okay. And it's faith-based. Okay, that's okay. Come back for the story next time.

unknown

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Bye guys, see you next week. They say a farmer's work is never done. Well, neither is ours. Come back next week for a new episode of Light Between the Rows.
