This is the Lord from Sun, and I'm at Amoeba Records. I'm Soma from Sun, and this is what's in my bag. First thing I pulled off the wall is John Lee Hooker record, No Friend Around. This was turned on to me by uh Cameron Jamie as one of the darkest albums musically. It's an amazing album because the recordings are pretty lo-fi stuff. Beautiful record.

Venom black metal. Embarrassingly enough, I didn't have this on vinyl, but I've got many like burnt cassettes burned for me and burned out. So I was like, I think it was time to upgrade to an actual vinyl copy of this classic and very important album, and something that has been an influential for us and our new record, which we have a tribute to Venom in a title of our song. Does anyone hear like Venom?

Beatrice Ferreira, a record, amazing electroacoustic composer from Argentina. This is from a series Recollections GRM, which is archive recordings from the group research music hall in Paris, France. I'm really connected with this group. I actually designed this series. I design records. So actually a bunch of my selections are from viewpoint just record covers, but this composer in particular is unbelievably cool, like loop-based synthesis music.

Sunship. Oh John Coltrane. I think I have this on compact disc, but uh it's time to have the uh the vinyl version. This is one of my favorite um eras of uh Coltrane with Elvin Jones and uh Jimmy Garrison. McCoy Tyner, of course, one of my favorite uh piano players. Obsessed with John Coltrane.

Stoked to uh get this Joshua Abrams' new album. He's from Natural Information Society. Found this in the jazz section, but like we were talking about, it's one of those artists like experimental music, jazz or kind of like ethnic world music or whatever. But also um uh album cover, very cool. The all the Natural Information Society stuff has uh really, really cool graphics and almost collage layouts, really beautiful sleeves, so this one as well.

I found this Ornette Coleman record that I did not know existed. And it has an eight-page booklet with uh art and transcribed notes and music sheets. Oh, really? Pretty cool scores. Yeah, yeah. That should be pretty interesting. It's it's uh and looks like it's a duo record. Duo with Charlie Hayden, who is uh uh somebody that I've uh I'm a huge, huge uh fan of as well. So this is I'm excited to check this out.

This is uh record of Gagaku sweet. It's called Ragakusha. I don't know if that's a good ensemble or a style of Gagaku, Japanese court music, Gagaku, but it's 48 bucks, a little steep for me. But this this um cover is unbelievably cool. It's just a beautiful, perfect design in black and white. I love this um area of music, but the covers what drew me in there.

It's a Gill Scott Heron live record. So it's live in uh Bremen with a band that uh I I'm not familiar with any of his names, but um this looks like it could be uh interesting. And I've known of uh his uh music for a long time and have liked uh what I've heard. I just haven't really dived in. His voice is uh is just so powerful and his words as well.

Shiv Kumar Sharma on Sand Tour, uh Hare Reshad Charasia on flute, and Bridge Bhushan Cabra on guitar. This is an amazing piece of music. I hadn't seen this cover before. They're very young.

Yeah, I had actually picked that up recently as well. This version? This with this cover, yeah. And I kind of picked it up because I have the other versions. But I thought the cover was so cool. It's like it's really nice. I really liked it.

I mean, it's redesigned to look like an old record, I think. I don't think it's actually the old cover. No. Hari Pasad Churosia. I saw him play in Paris. Yeah, the flute player. This guy's insane.

The new Exodus album. Recently got re-obsessed with with Exodus, and especially the guitar player Gary Holt. This record is their brand new record, and also it's it's really interesting because there's a violinist on here, Katie Jacoby, that I played some music with. Also, to go with this, Gary Holt came out with a book recently called Fabulous Disaster that is unbelievable.

And I wanted to gift it to you. Oh, yeah. Because I've already read it and uh I think you're gonna freak out. It's it's unbelievable. It's but you know, his time, of course, with Exodus, but also, of course, he was in Slayer. Yeah, he replaced Jeff Hanneman, and the stories are uh incredible. I loved it, and it kind of that that's what reignited my Exodus flame, and I wanted to uh gift that to you because I think you would enjoy it.

Yeah. The singer for Candlemas was also on our tour bus. And when it was time for us to play, our road manager said, Okay, everybody's gotta go. And Messiah didn't move. We really didn't know who he was at the time, and Bailoff attacked him and punched him right in front of King Diamond. Someone told me that Paul broke Messiah's nose.

Got a Rosalia record, Lux. Pretty interesting and weird, like use of wire and orchestra. She played in Paris recently. Some friends of mine went, had strongly different opinions. Like the young, the young person who's nine years old fell asleep the whole time. The old person, the father, was blown away because she's using like flamenco group doing clapping, and there was a full symphony orchestra in the middle of the arena playing. I just wanted to check out the packaging and what it sounds like on vinyl. There's like a leather texture on this cover, which is really cool.
