Season 2 Episode 2: Sometimes Your Comfort Zone Gets A Passport Too
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
I'd love to hear your feedback! What would you like for me to discuss next?
There are moments in life when you think you've finally stepped outside your comfort zone.
For me, that moment looked like selling almost everything I owned, buying a one-way ticket to Spain, and starting over from scratch.
I thought that was the brave part.
But what I discovered after moving across the world surprised me: sometimes your comfort zone doesn't keep you in the same city... sometimes it travels with you.
In this deeply personal episode, I'm sharing the realization that completely shifted the way I see growth, healing, business, and visibility. I talk about the difference between being busy and actually moving forward, why our nervous systems often keep us "almost ready," and how fear can disguise itself as productivity.
If you've ever found yourself endlessly preparing, waiting for confidence before taking action, or wondering why you still feel stuck despite changing so much on the outside, this conversation is for you.
✨ Stay until the end, where I'll guide you through a gentle somatic practice designed to help you move this realization out of your mind and into your body. Together we'll slow down, notice where you're holding yourself back, thank your nervous system for trying to protect you, and choose one small act of visibility you can take within the next 24 hours.
Because healing isn't measured by how calm you feel.
It's measured by what you're willing to do while your nervous system is still learning that it's safe.
✨ In this episode you'll discover:
• Why changing your environment doesn't always change your patterns.
• How "being busy" can become a beautiful hiding place.
• Why selling is really an invitation - not a performance.
• How your nervous system quietly keeps you "almost ready."
• A simple somatic ritual you can return to anytime you notice yourself hiding instead of showing up.
If this episode resonates, I'd love to hear from you. Share it with someone who's standing on the edge of their next chapter, and remember...
Your comfort zone may have gotten a passport.
But it doesn't have to decide where you go next. 💛

Let’s stay connected:...
Welcome to Manifesting Your Shit, the podcast, where we ditch the fluff, drop the rules, and create a life that's unapologetically ours. I'm Lisa, and here, your mindset, your energy, your messiness, and your wildest dreams are the only currency. Are you ready? Let's fucking go. So today's episode, um, I'm going to go into something that I'm was kind of hit with this week that came up kind of unexpectedly, and I really, really want to share this with you guys. It was so we all know that it was like a little, no, at this point it was, yeah, it's a little over a month ago where I just kind of hopped on the plane and did some touring around, right? Sold everything I owned, bought that one-way ticket to Spain. Now, if you've been following, you already know this story, right? But if you're new here, hi, I'm Lisa. I'm a breath work facilitator, nervous system nerd, and apparently someone who makes slightly impulsive international life decisions. Um, when I told people what I was doing, the response was almost always the same. Like, you're so brave, I can never do it, like I'm so jealous, I wish I had your courage. And and honestly, it it felt good. I I believe the hype. Um I know that buying that ticket was a big act of courage that I've made this year, you know, leaving behind my apartment, my routines, um, all my familiar things, my friends, everything that felt predictable. Um, I packed kind of what I could fit into my suitcase, boarded a plane, and I've been in this beautiful tiny village in Spain where I've had absolutely no idea what this chapter was going to look like. And from the outside, it looked like I had completely stepped outside of my comfort zone. And in many ways, in many ways I have. But this week I had a realization that humbled the absolute fucking shit out of me because I discovered something, and the thing is, you can sell almost everything you own, move across the world, completely change your environment, and still, still be operating from the exact same patterns. That hearing that like totally stopped me in my tracks because sometimes your comfort zone doesn't keep you in the same city, it fucking travels with you. Here's the thing, I realized that I changed countries before I changed my pattern. And that's that's hard, that's hard for me to admit because if you had asked me two weeks ago how my business was going, I would have proudly shown you everything I've been working on. I'm redesigning all my workbooks, re-relaunching the podcast, um, I have new social media coming out. I created a Facebook community, I have new breath work sessions, like the emails, graphics, cat, like the captions, uh, Pinterest, YouTube, like everything. Every single day I've been busy and every night I think like, oh, look at this. Like I am heels in, locked in, building this fucking business. Until I had this conversation that completely called me the fuck out. And it wasn't it wasn't about criticism. Actually, it was a fucking mirror being held up. And in that mirror, I realized it didn't have anything to do with like procrastination or laziness, and I sure as hell wasn't like avoiding doing work, but what I was doing, I was outlining my fucking comfort zone. Oof, like sucker punch to the fucking stomach, and everything that I have been doing from the outside looks super fucking productive, and that's exactly what makes this so dangerous. Every workbook page that I've redesigned, all the podcasts that I've re-editing, being in Canva, redoing all my graphics, like it feels like I'm being productive, but very little of it required me to risk rejection. Very little of it required me to actually invite someone into my work. I wasn't building my business, I was building a really beautiful fucking hiding place. Can I be honest? That realization stung. Stung. Because I don't think I was intentionally hiding. I I genuinely thought I was making so much progress, but being busy and moving forward and not always, they're they're not always the same thing. Sometimes busy is just fear wearing a productivity fucking costume. And that's a really, really hard thing to admit when you're someone who prides themselves on getting things done. As I sit with this, I've come to realize that it wasn't about the business at all. It wasn't about me making sales and making money. It was about visibility. There was still this tiny voice inside me asking, what are the people from my old life going to think? The people who knew me when I was a tax collector, when I was managing restaurants, like when I was doing customer experience, like those people knew a completely different version of me. So what happens when they see me talking about breath work and nervous system and healing and spirituality, um, telling them that they need to open their body in order to receive? Would they think that I've lost it? Would they think it wasn't really me? Would people be judging me? And that's when this realization really fucking landed. I I haven't been afraid of selling, but I've been afraid of afraid of actually being seen because selling isn't just asking someone to buy something, selling is ownership, it's saying, This is my work, this changes lives. I'm fucking proud of it, and yes, I'm inviting you into it. That's so unbelievably vulnerable because the moment you make an offer, people get to respond. They can say yes, they can say no, they can scroll right past you, and your nervous system knows that. It knows that. Your nervous system's job isn't to help you reach your dreams, its job is to keep you alive, to keep you safe, to keep you inside whatever has felt familiar. If being visible has ever led to criticism, if taking up space has ever felt unsafe, if speaking up has ever ended in rejection, your nervous system, it fucking remembers that. It holds it inside and you can feel it. It doesn't wake up one day because you started a business and say, okay, let's become wildly visible. No, no, it's much, much sneakier than that. And it whispers, maybe one more workbook, maybe let's fix the website first. Maybe we should wait until we get more followers. Just maybe, maybe one more this, one more that. Busy feels so much safer than actually being visible. And the funny thing is, I teach nervous system regulation. Like this is what I'm doing. This is this is what all of this is about. And here I was watching my own nervous system do exactly what nervous systems are designed to do. It's been trying to protect me, it's not trying to ruin my business or keep me broke, it's not trying to stop me from helping people. It it's been simply trying to keep me inside what felt emotionally familiar. And if I'm honest, remaining almost ready, oh, that that has a very familiar face in my world. So creating, creating had become my familiar. Perfecting was my familiar. Being visible, oh, that's fucking scary as hell and so vulnerable. And having that eye-opening slap in the face has really opened my eyes, and it's completely changing something inside of me, and it's going to be reworking how I move forward with my business, and it's helping me to realize something. There is absolutely nothing wrong with refining your work. And trust me, coming to refining and perfectionism, I am I have stellium in the fifth house of Virgo. So uh perfectionism is like stitched into the core of who I am, and that has become or had become my safe place, my hiding. And it had nothing to do about me being good enough, but it has something to do with making sure that I have actually grown. The woman who created the first versions of the podcast and the workbooks that you guys are familiar with isn't the same person who's sitting with you today. I can see things now that I couldn't see back then. And I I want my work to be able to reflect that level that I've grown into. So there's nothing wrong with me going back and refining and redesigning and making sure that things are up to that level that I want to give to people. But, but, but, and here is the big fucking but there's a huge difference between refining something and continuously creating new things because you're afraid to invite people into what you've already built. That right there, that one. That is the one that landed for me because I realized I already had enough, enough offers, enough knowledge, enough proof, enough transformations from the people that I have worked with that I didn't need to do yet another workbook. I didn't need another conversion. I didn't need another graphic. What I needed was another invitation. I wasn't waiting to become ready. I was waiting to feel ready. And those are two totally fucking different things because confidence isn't what comes before action. Confidence is what grows after the action. The nervous system doesn't learn safety by waiting, it learns safety from surviving, from surviving visibility. One post, one conversation, one breath at a time. And can we talk about selling for a second? Because I think we've made selling mean something that it never was kind of supposed to mean. For years, I think I believe selling meant convincing, persuading, pushing, being louder than everyone else. But that's not what I believe anymore. Selling is about inviting. That's it. It's about saying this, this changed my life. I've watched it change other people's lives. And that's not manipulation, that's generosity. People can't say yes to a door they don't know exists. And I had to admit something that made me laugh because every time I'd say, if it resonates, then no pressure. Only if it feels aligned. I thought I was making my audience comfortable because it made me comfortable. I was making myself comfortable. I was softening the invitation so much that sometimes you could barely tell that I was inviting anyone at all. Can anybody else relate to this? This this realization changed the way I think about courage because yes, buying buying that one-way ticket to Spain took courage. I'll I'll never take that away from myself. I think it was I think it was absolutely courageous. I think it was absolutely fucking badass. I still think that about myself. But now I think courage is quieter than that. Sometimes courage looks like pressing publish. It's about introducing yourself. Sometimes courage is saying, hi, I'm Lisa. This is what I do, this is what I believe, and this is how I can help. Sometimes courage is letting people from your old life see the new version of you without needing their permission to become her. Because here is the fucking truth. You can change your city, you can change your career, your relationship, your appearance, you can change continents. But if your nervous system still believes it's safer to say small, you'll simply decorate a brand new comfort zone. And that's exactly what I had done. I had moved across the world, but I brought my hiding place with me. Thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, I was able to notice it and I don't want to live in it anymore. So here's the promise that I'm making to myself. I'm done waiting to be discovered. I'm done hoping that people magically figure out what I do. I'm done deciding no for people before they've even had the chance to choose. Because here's what I've finally realized. If I truly believe that this work changes lives, then it's my responsibility to let people know that it exists. Not aggressively, not desperately, simply, honestly, clearly, with an open hand instead of a closed one, because the right people aren't waiting for a perfect website. They're waiting for permission to believe that change is possible. And maybe, maybe they're waiting for me to stop hiding. So that was a lot. I I hope I hope you can resonate with this. And before we finish, I want to invite you into something. Not tomorrow, not next week, right now. If you're driving, keep your eyes open. But if you're somewhere safe, I'd love for you to take one slow breath with me. I need you to inhale and exhale. Let's do that again, just a little bit slower. Inhale and exhale. Now I want you to ask yourself one question. Where in my life have I mistaken preparation for progress? And when you look for the answer, I don't want you to automatically answer it with your mind. I want you to notice what happens in your body. Where do you feel it? Maybe it's in your chest, in your throat. Is it a knot in your stomach? Do you feel your jaw clenching? I want you to just notice it. Don't try to fix it. I want you to now place one hand over your heart and one hand wherever you felt that sensation. Take another slide. Low breath and quietly say to yourself, Body, thank you. Thank you for trying to protect me. I know you learned that hiding kept us safe, but today, today we don't need hiding anymore. And then pause. Ask yourself one final question. What's one act of visibility I can give myself in the next twenty-four hours? Not next month, not when you feel confident, tomorrow. Whether it's one email, one post, a conversation, a message, an offer, an introduction, one brave little moment where the real you gets to be seen. Because healing isn't measured on how calm you feel, it's measured by what you're willing to do while your nervous system is still learning that it's safe. One breath, one choice, one courageous act at a time. Move with it because your comfort zone has been listening to this episode too. And don't let it be the one, the only one that learned something today. Um I thought buying a one-way ticket to Spain would be the bravest thing I did this year. Turns out, the bravest thing is letting the world meet the woman who got on that plane. Thank you, thank you, thank you for being here. Thank you for allowing me to be honest about these realizations, and thank you for reminding me that I don't have to have it all figured out before I share the journey. Until next time, keep breathing, keep choosing yourself, keep becoming, and remember, sometimes your comfort zone doesn't keep you in the same city. Sometimes it travels with you, but that doesn't mean it has to decide where you go next. I love you guys, and again, thank you so much for listening. If you'd like to work with me, whether it's through some of my workbooks, I do have free workbooks that are starter workbooks to get you started, uh breath work sessions. Look for it on my website, ww.manifestingyour shit.com, and join my Facebook community where we all get together and kind of talk about what nervous system regulation means for you and ways to alchemize it and bring it into your life with everyday exercises. Again, I love you guys. Have an amazing day. Until next week.
unknownBye.
