August is officially here, and we are locking in on a monthly focus designed to lower your anxiety, boost your creative spark, and clear out the mental fog of a hectic work week. In this episode of Oh Health Yeah, Augustus and Zach dive into a deceptively simple challenge that too many of us ignore: the profound power of nature.
Whether you are enjoying the beautiful wilderness of Montana, the wild terrains of Alaska, or a scenic park in France, the challenge remains the same: step outside, touch some grass, and let nature do the heavy lifting for your mental health. If you are feeling burnt out, overwhelmed, or just need a straightforward strategy to recalibrate your nervous system, this episode is your roadmap.
Here is a look at what we are unpacking to help you reset:
The Nervous System Saver: Why stepping outside does not have to mean a massive weekend trek, and how simple, five-minute shifts can completely alter your mental baseline.
Bringing the Outdoors In: Practical, realistic "at work" habits to help desk-bound professionals find an outdoor feel, even when you are stuck inside an office.
The Healing Power of Moving Water: Zach opens up about his own recent travel stress, how a lack of outdoor connection took a toll, and why getting near the water is a non-negotiable anchor for mental wellness.
Setting Actionable Boundaries: Why we want you to start small, throw out the pressure of perfection, and design a custom, low-barrier goal you can easily knock out of the park this month.
Tune in to Oh Health Yeah now to find your pocket of peace and make this August your most grounded month yet.

Welcome into the Oh Health Yeah podcast brought to you by Healthy is Wellness. As you all know, our mission is to empower you to take control of your health and elicit a little bit of curiosity in your life when it comes to the world of wellness. Thank you so much for tuning in today. And if you have loved ones or friends that you think would benefit from this, share it with them. Let's get this thing going. Healthy is family. Welcome back. It's your boy Augustus accepting you and inviting you to August. Today we're going to talk about our monthly theme for the month of August. This month we're going to be focusing on something that boosts creativity, reduces anxiety and depression, and reduces mental fatigue. So overall, reducing the impact of stress on the body is kind of the emphasis behind this. We're going to be talking about healthy is spending time in nature. So this is one of the challenges that we talk to our clients about. Actually, not that I feel like we don't talk to that many people about this. We should probably more often than we do. But in August, we're going to be talking about this one with the majority of clients that don't know where they want to go with their health and wellness and kind of just want a generic thing to focus on. When we're talking about embracing nature or spending time in nature, there's different ways to do it. There's both at-home ways and there's at work ways. You'll see recommendations on the back of the card if you come into one of your sessions. Some of the ways that I love to talk about this card is at home, spending time in nature can be any ways that you can get outside. Something that you enjoy. For example, I love shooting my bow this time of year. I'm going to go outside and I'm going to shoot my bow X amount of times a week, making a goal based around how can we actually get outside at home. And then at work, trying to build it in throughout the day. I think we don't realize how much better we are as employees and humans when we're able to go for walks. For example, yesterday I had a break between clients, so I went for a short walk to the park near our office. Just being able to be outside completely changes the way that your body feels, both mentally and physically. And it helps in so many different ways. Some of the recommendations on here when it comes to at home, can you hike a trail? Can you walk around your neighborhood? Can you walk in the grass, either at your house or in a park without your shoes on? I love the idea, and I mentioned this in a previous episode. In the mornings, can you get outside and get some form of sun exposure? It allows the body to lock in your circadian rhythm. Those are different ways you can implement it at home. At work, take a 10-minute break by putting on headphones and playing ocean sounds at your desk. That one seems kind of interesting, but it's a way to get a little bit of an outdoor feel, not having to go outside. Take a walk every day at lunch to a nearby park. Can you keep live plants in your office that require your attention and care every day? And the goal behind all this is to start small and just incorporate a little bit more nature in your life than you have previously. Zach, what do you got on spending time in nature? How do you like to frame that with clients, whether it's at home or at work?

I think spending time in nature is imperative to your mental health. There are studies that show that walking near water can significantly improve your mental health. I love fly fishing. You know this. And when I was in Oregon, we only got to go once and I felt it. I felt that I wasn't able to access what calms my nervous system. And when it comes to people at work, I like I like to encourage walks or even just eating lunch outside can be super helpful. We live in a very beautiful state. And I think that it's you're, you know, if you're not taking advantage of the fact that it's so pretty here, you're losing out. So I love that idea of going outside for lunch.

Yeah. I think a lot of our businesses have places too where people can actually go outside and eat. A lot of them, absolutely. That's a good idea. Heck yeah. So this month, if you don't know what you want to focus on, if you kind of want to run with our theme, what you're gonna try to do is optimize the time that you spend in nature. And know that just like any other challenge we recommend in your life, we want it to be small, we want it to be actionable. So make that goal something that you can actually achieve. Maybe it's a five-minute walk three days a week outside, or maybe it's eating lunch outside once a week. Make that actionable item, something that you can achieve, something that you can knock out of the park, and do your best this month to spend time in nature as much as you can. Thank you all so much for tuning in today. We appreciate each and every one of you. If you like the episode, feel free to leave us ratings, reviews. We'd love to hear from you guys. Thank you so much for tuning in. Enjoy your August.
