The GA Wellness Podcast With Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast
Hosted by Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast is the go-to space for women who are juggling a full life and craving real, sustainable wellness that actually fits into the chaos, not on top of it.
Hosted by Georgia Ann, wellness coach, former group fitness instructor and creator of the HNSF Method. This warm, down-to-earth show is for the woman who can lead a meeting, soothe a meltdown and throw dinner together in 20 minutes, but hasn’t had five quiet minutes to herself all day. We lovingly call that woman a Busy Bella and if that sounds familiar, this podcast was made with her in mind.
Each week, Georgia brings heartfelt stories, gentle guidance and science-backed strategies grounded in the four pillars of the GA Wellness philosophy: Hydration, Nutrition, Self-care and Fitness. These episodes go beyond quick fixes and offer tools to help women regulate their nervous systems, rebuild their energy and reconnect with their bodies.
There’s no hustle culture here, just real talk, relatable support and small shifts that lead to lasting change. With journal prompts, mini challenges, advice from experts and encouragement from a growing community, listeners are invited to move step by step from Busy Bella to Balanced Bella.
Whether tuning in on a lunch break, commuting to work, during school pickup, during soccer practice or in the quiet moments before bed, women will feel seen, supported and reminded that they are not alone and they are not behind.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what
truly supports you in the season you are in.

Welcome Back and Episode 12 Recap
Hey, lovely. Welcome back to the GA Wellness Podcast. Your nervous system, friendly space for honest chats from practical tools and that big exhale we all need at the start of the week.
So last week in episode 12, we unpacked FOMO, the fear of missing out and how it's not just a trendy hashtag. We talked about how it's wired into our survival instincts, how it often teams up with mum guilt and makes us feel like we're not doing enough and how your amygdala, that little heart shaped alarm system in your brain, is trying to keep you safe and connected, even if it sometimes get the signals wrong.
Well, today we're flipping that script. Instead of fearing what we might miss, we're going to explore the joy in choosing to miss out and why your body actually craves it.
A Question to Start
Okay, so before we start, I've got a question for you and I want you to really picture your answer. What would you skip this week if you knew it was actually good for you? Not because you were dodging something, not because you felt guilty, but because deep down you know your body, your mind and your nervous system would give you a standing ovation for saying, ‘nope, not today.’
Got something in mind? Hold onto it because it's going to make a lot more sense in a minute.
The Winter School Holidays Story
Okay, so I'm going to tell you how this episode came along because honestly, a couple of months ago I didn't even know JOMO was a thing. It was winter school holidays and both my daughter and I came down with colds. Not the full can't get out of bed kind, but enough to cancel plans, slow right down and just stay home.
We ended up spending half the holidays and my time off on the couch. Total rest season vibes and here's the twist, I actually loved it. We curled up under blankets, caught up on movies, built Lego, made all the comfort food and then went all in on Kirby and the Forgotten Land on Switch.
Now, Ellie's already 100 percented the game a few times because of course she has, this time we tackled it together on Wild Mode and we did it! We actually 100 percented the whole thing. Honestly, were high fiving like we just won the Olympic gold in gaming, but it wasn't just the game. It was the hours of laughing, teamwork and being together. No rushing off to the next thing, no ‘Els we have to leave in five’. No mental juggling act. You know, it was just beautiful and for once, I wasn't scrolling Instagram, wondering what everyone else was doing. I wasn't worrying about keeping up. I was just there, sniffles and all, soaking up this unexpected little pocket of connection with my little girl.
JOMO in the Quiet Pockets
Here's the thing. It's not just a mum thing. JOMO moments can happen in those quiet pockets of life we usually speed past. Like when the kids are finally asleep and you curl up on the couch and watch that movie you've been meaning to watch for months.
One night, those holidays, I made myself a big bowl of popcorn and decided to do a little I Know what You Did Last Summer marathon because I was so excited for the sequel coming out a couple of weeks later. Side note, I saw it and as a Kevin Williamson fan and a horror genre tragic, I wasn't disappointed, but I digress.
The point is, I didn't pause to check my phone, I didn't flick through anything and I didn't itch to try to multitask. I just sat there and enjoyed it, start to finish and for all my high achieving ‘go’ women listening, whether you're a mum or not, you know how rare that is. We're so used to running, producing ticking boxes, saying ‘yes’, packing our calendars until there's no space to breathe. Slowing down can actually feel like strange and weird at first, but when you lean into it's bliss.
Discovering JOMO
A few days later I was telling a colleague all about this and she goes, ‘sounds like you had a real JOMO moment’ and I'm like, ‘what's JOMO?’ Turns out it's the joy of missing out and she was right.
I couldn't have cared less of what was going on outside and my daughter and I had this rare little bubble of time to just laugh, reset, recharge and just be and that, my lovely, is where the magic is.
What JOMO Really Is
So what is JOMO really? The term first popped up in the late 2000s, coined by tech entrepreneur Anau Dash and then author Christina Crook gave it real spotlight in her book, the Joy of Missing Out.
Think of it like FOMO's cooler, calmer cousin. The one who reminds you to slow down, be present and step off the hamster wheel of constant doing and here's the thing, JOMO isn't about being lazy. It's not, ‘oh, I can't be bothered’, or ‘I'm checking out of life.’ It's. It's the complete opposite. JOMO is active, but intentional. It's looking at your calendar, your energy, your actual needs and saying, ‘you know what? That doesn't fit me right now.’
Here's the best part, you’re feeling good about that decision instead of guilty. So, if FOMO is about fearing you're missing out something important, JOMO is about trusting that you're not. It's knowing deep down that the thing that you're saying ‘no’ to isn't the thing you truly need in this season.
Lovely your body absolutely craves this, because every time you say no to the constant rush, you're giving your nervous system a big old permission slip to exhale.
The Nervous System Nerdy Bit
Okay, so let's get a little nerdy together, because JOMO isn't just a cute Instagram hashtag, it's linked directly to the self-care and nervous system regulation pillar in the HNSF method.
So, I'm going to go back again to episode four and you might remember how we talked about the yin and yang of your nervous system, that balance between your ‘go’ mode and your ‘restore’ mode.
Your sympathetic nervous system, that's your ‘go’ mode, is like having your foot on the accelerator. It's brilliant where you need to get things done, meet a deadline, or respond to life's curveballs but if you're stuck there all the time, that's when you feel wired, restless, snappy and yep, that's exactly where FOMO likes to live.
Then we've got the parasympathetic nervous system, your rest and digest mode, that's your brake pedal, the deep exhale, the signal to your whole body that says ‘we’re safe, you can soften now’.
In this state, your digestion works better, your sleep deepens and your muscles let go of tension and your mind also gets to slow down, this is exactly where JOMO lives.
When you choose JOMO, you're literally flicking the internal switch, moving yourself out of ‘go’ mode and into ‘restore’ mode. You're telling your amygdala, yep, our VIP guest from episodes 11 and 12, that your village is intact, nothing's on fire and you can stand down.
The Boundary and White Space Piece
Here's the part I love, that little winter holiday story I told you about earlier, I wasn't just resting without even thinking about it. I was instinctively giving myself a full parasympathetic reset. I was leaning into self-care without scheduling it, without making a chore, without guilt. It just happened.
I mean, for someone who doesn't naturally gravitate towards long, slow self-care, that was a bit of a revelation for me. My body already knew what it needed. I just had to stop long enough to let it happen.
It’s all about boundaries. Every time you say, ‘nah, I'm staying in tonight’, or ‘we're keeping this weekend quiet’, you're not being lazy, you're creating white space and that white space is where the nervous system does its deepest healing.
So, next time you skip an event, turn down an invite, or choose Netflix and a blanket over running yourself ragged, you're not missing out. You're actively choosing calm over chaos, connection with the person right in front of you, energy that lasts instead of energy that depletes.
That's the heart of JOMO and in the HNSF method, it's what self-care is all about. It's never just saying ‘no’ to what drains you, it's saying a big, wholehearted ‘yes’ to what restores you.
The Sneaky ‘Shoulds’ and the JOMO Check-In
Here's where it can get tricky, you might remember a couple of episodes ago and even last week's episode, we're talking about those sneaky ‘shoulds’.
So for Mum, it sounds like I should be at every event. I should volunteer more. I should turn up every second into every magical core memory and for my high achievers, it's like saying ‘yes’ to every opportunity. I should network more. I should be producing something at all times.
That's where JOMO flips the script, it's not about doing less just for the sake of it. It's about giving your best energy to the things that matter most, instead of scattering yourself so thin that nothing gets the real lit up version of you.
Here's your little JOMO check in for the week. Before you say yes to something, pause just for a beat and ask yourself, do I actually want this? Will it give me energy, connection or joy? Am I saying yes because I think I should?
Then notice what happens in your body when you picture saying no. Is it relief? Is it guilt? Maybe it's a mixture of both and that's okay.
The Freebie and Invitation
To make it easier, I've made you something cosy and practical. Your JOMO Journal Prompt and Joyful Boundaries Checklist. It's just one page. You can pop it in your notebook or on your fridge and help you spot those sneaky ‘shoulds’, reframe them and practise saying no without the guilt hangover.

The Takeaway and Next Week
Okay, so lovely here's the real takeaway from today. JOMO isn't about missing out at all. It's about making an active, intentional choice to slow down, protect your energy and give your nervous system the white space it needs to restore.
We've unpacked how JOMO is the antidote to FOMO and how it lives in your parasympathetic rest and digest mode and why this matters so much for your health, mood and relationships.
We talked about boundaries not as walls, but as invitations to more connection with yourself and the people who matter most and you've got your JOMO Journal Prompt and Joyful Boundaries Checklist to help you practise saying ‘no’ without the guilt hangover.
Here's my challenge for you this week, pick one thing you can joyfully miss out on, not because you can't be bothered, but because it's a conscious choice to put your energy where it really counts. Then notice how your body feels when you give it permission to just be.
Next week, we're taking this one step further. If this week was about the joy of saying no, next week is going to be about the joy of saying yes, so this is going to be our integration episode. We're going to be looking at putting everything together and what this looks like in real time.
Until then, take a breath, pour yourself a cuppa and remember, you're doing a beautiful job and I'm so glad you're here.
