The GA Wellness Podcast With Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast
Hosted by Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast is the go-to space for women who are juggling a full life and craving real, sustainable wellness that actually fits into the chaos, not on top of it.
Hosted by Georgia Ann, wellness coach, former group fitness instructor and creator of the HNSF Method. This warm, down-to-earth show is for the woman who can lead a meeting, soothe a meltdown and throw dinner together in 20 minutes, but hasn’t had five quiet minutes to herself all day. We lovingly call that woman a Busy Bella and if that sounds familiar, this podcast was made with her in mind.
Each week, Georgia brings heartfelt stories, gentle guidance and science-backed strategies grounded in the four pillars of the GA Wellness philosophy: Hydration, Nutrition, Self-care and Fitness. These episodes go beyond quick fixes and offer tools to help women regulate their nervous systems, rebuild their energy and reconnect with their bodies.
There’s no hustle culture here, just real talk, relatable support and small shifts that lead to lasting change. With journal prompts, mini challenges, advice from experts and encouragement from a growing community, listeners are invited to move step by step from Busy Bella to Balanced Bella.
Whether tuning in on a lunch break, commuting to work, during school pickup, during soccer practice or in the quiet moments before bed, women will feel seen, supported and reminded that they are not alone and they are not behind.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what
truly supports you in the season you are in.

In the final pillar of the HNSF Method, we explore movement as nourishment rather than punishment. This is movement that supports your nervous system, lifts your mood and reminds you that your body was made to move with freedom.
I share parts of my early story as a nineteen-year-old fitness instructor and the joy, energy and eventual burnout that shaped the way I teach movement today. You will hear how hydration, nutrition and self-care influence the way movement feels and why your foundations matter more than any single workout.
We explore the nervous system science behind exercise, the balance between yin and yang energy and the shift that happens when movement comes from kindness rather than pressure. This episode will support you to find movement that feels joyful, steady and connected to your real life.

E005 Fitness: Moving in a Way That Feels Good
The GA Wellness Podcast – Small Steps, Lasting Change
Georgia Ann:
Opening
Movement isn't just for your muscles, lovely. It's for your nervous system. You don't have to crush a workout to feel strong. Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is take a walk, stretch your spine or sway to your favourite song in the kitchen because when your body moves, your stress shifts and for us busy Bellas, that shift is everything. Let's talk about how joyful movement becomes less about pressure and more about peace.
Podcast Intro
Welcome to the GA Wellness podcast, Small Steps, Lasting Change. I'm your host, Georgia Ann, health coach, solo mum and a woman who's lived through the chaos, the curveballs and the craving for something steadier. After 20 years in the fitness industry and my own journey through grief, motherhood and starting over, I've learned that real wellness isn't about doing more. It's about doing what matters. Each week, we cut through the noise and get real with simple, doable tools to help you feel stronger, calmer and more like you. This isn't about perfection. It's about steady soul led progress. Because you deserve wellness that fits into your full life, not just one version of it. Let's dive in.
Welcome Back and Recap
Hello my lovely, busy Bella, welcome back to the GA Wellness Podcast. I'm so happy you're here. Whether you're out for a walk, tidying up the house or just carving out a little time for yourself, know that I'm right here with you. I'm so glad we get to share this space together.
Can you believe we're already at the final pillar of the HNSF Method? Today we're stepping into fitness but don't worry, not the hardcore push until you're spent version. We're talking about movement that supports you, that lifts your energy and that feels good in your body.
Before we dive in, let's just take a moment to look back on last week's episode. Episode four was such a special one. We explored the nervous system, how it shapes our energy, our emotions, our capacity to feel safe. I shared a guided meditation with you. Just a soft space to land, especially in the middle of a busy week.
Did you get a chance to try it? How did it feel? Were there any little shifts? Even the tiniest ones, you know, checking in with yourself like this, it's such an important part of the process because it's not about getting it right, it's just about noticing. It's how we build trust with our bodies one moment at a time.
If the week got away from you and you didn't get a chance to try it, that's completely okay. Lovely, it's sitting there waiting for you like a warm cup of tea. Ready when you are. No pressure, just presence.
Now, as we move into today's conversation, I want to gently shift us into this final pillar of the HNSF method, Fitness.
Movement over ‘Fitness’
If I'm going to be completely honest, I do actually prefer the word ‘movement’ because when we say fitness, it sometimes brings up all sorts of negative thoughts.
So, maybe you think of versions of gym memberships, strict routines, intense boot camps or pushing through exhaustion, but the heart of what I really want to share with you today isn't about ticking boxes or chasing a certain aesthetic.
It's about finding movement that supports your life, your energy and your nervous system where you are now because movement, for me, it's about flow, it's about joy, it's about reconnecting with your body, not punishing it.
So, I'll be using the words fitness and movement a little interchangeably, but just know, in the HNSF method, our focus is always on movement that feels nourishing, sustainable and in align with you.
When Fitness Feels Like a Chore
Which brings me to a little question I want to ask you.
Have you ever felt like fitness was a chore? Like something you should do but didn't actually want to do?
Maybe you found yourself dragging your feet to a class or powering through a workout you just really weren't in the mood for? Or you had that nagging guilty feeling when you skipped the gym, even when your body was crying out because it needed rest.
If you've been there, you are not alone. I've been there too. What's really fascinating, there's actually a science backed reason why your body might have felt this way.
Stay with me, lovely, because we'll dive into that a little later in the episode and I think it's going to shift the way you look at movement in a really beautiful way.
Why this is my Favourite Pillar
Fitness actually has a special place in my heart and honestly, it's my favourite pillar. It's where my entire fitness (wellness) journey began.
So, I was just 19 years old when I first became a group fitness instructor. oh my goodness, I was lit up. The music, the energy, the endorphin high, the sweaty smiles. At the end of the class, I felt so alive, like I'd found my calling. I was in it, hooked, I full on gym junkie in the best possible way.
Do you know what really stayed with me? It was the people, the connections, some of my closest friends to this day I actually met them in that sweaty, joy filled space. There's just something magical about moving in sync with others, cheering each other on and showing up together week after week.
Honestly, that's exactly where the heart of my group coaching program was born. From those early moments of community and shared energy.
If you've ever felt a little spark around that idea, being part of something bigger, having support and connection woven into your wellness journey, there's a link in the description. You can check out and I'll pop you on the list and you'll be the first to know when doors open.
When Movement Stopped Feeling Good
Can I tell you a little story?
Even though I loved fitness, loved it with every part of me, it wasn't always kind to my body, but not because movement itself was the problem, but because I didn't have my foundation in place.
I was teaching back-to-back classes, covering for others, always saying yes, staying late, skipping meals, ignoring the signals. I thought being strong meant pushing through. I didn't realise then just how deeply I was people pleasing or how much I was disconnected from myself in the process.
I wasn't fuelling properly, I wasn't sleeping and I just wasn't listening and eventually what happened is I crashed, like really properly burnt out. If you've ever hit that kind of wall, you know it's not just physical, it touches everything. Your energy, your joy, your ability to cope.
Something that had once filled me up started draining me and it's not because of the movement itself, but because I didn't have the other pillars in place yet.
So, this is why fitness is the final pillar in the HNSF method. Not because it means less, but because it shines brighter when everything else supports it. This is where Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs really clicks in for me and I think you're going to feel this too.
Maslow and Why Fitness Comes Last
We're going to picture that pyramid that we've spoken about. At the very base are our most essential needs, food, water, rest, then right above that is safety, where our beautiful nervous system regulation comes in. Only after those things are truly met do we start to feel other spaces of connection, growth, creativity, all this good stuff that makes us feel full.
For me, that's where fitness lives, right up there, near the top. It's a form of self-expression, of joy, of becoming more you.
When we try to skip our foundational steps, when we're running on empty, undernourished, overwhelmed, it stops feeling expansive and it starts feeling like pressure, like something we have to do instead of something that we get to do.
I've lived that, I've pushed through workouts when my body needed rest. I've shown up out of guilt instead of love. I paid for it with burnout, with exhaustion and with deep disconnection that comes when we override what we truly need.
When You’re Grounded, Movement Becomes Freedom
Here's the magic, lovely, when we're grounded in those basic needs, when we're hydrated, nourished, emotionally supported, movement transforms.
It's no longer a chore, it's freedom, it's energy, it's play. It's dancing in your living room, walking barefoot on the grass or walking barefoot on the sand. It's stretching under the morning light. It becomes something that fills your cup instead of emptying it.
If fitness has ever felt heavy for you, maybe it's not about doing less or doing more. Maybe it's just coming back to your base and then rising up from there.
I spoke a little bit beginning about the science, so we're actually going to come back to that now.
The Science: Movement and the Nervous System
So, this part kind of blew my mind when I first learned about it.
When our nervous system is out of whack, like we're living in that go, go mode, skipping meals, running on caffeine and adrenaline, movement, especially the intense kind, can actually add to our stress load. Yep, it's pretty intense, isn't it?
So, research on something called the HPA axis shows that pushing through in a depleted state can lead to burnout, hormone imbalance and just really feeling flat. Which is why checking in on how you're feeling before you move is so important. It's not about what you do, it's about whether your body is ready to receive it.
On the flip side, when you're nourished, hydrated, feeling emotionally safe, movement becomes medicine, literally. It activates your parasympathetic nervous system, which helps your body feel calm, restore and heal.
Just 20 to 30 minutes of gentle, moderate movement. Think walking, dancing. A beautiful stretch session can lift your mood, boost endorphins, increase feel good neurotransmitters like serotonin and dopamine. Suddenly you feel more focused, more grounded, more you.
So lovely, this is what I really want you to hear, movement is sacred. It's not about how many workouts you smash through in a week. It's about how you feel when you move. Do you feel light? Energised? Joyful? Do you feel like yourself again? That's what matters most.
You don't have to earn movement with discipline or punishment. You deserve movement that feels nourishing, supportive and empowering. You get to move in a way that honours your body, not fights them.
Yin and Yang and Why Intensity Can Backfire
Honestly, back in the day, I didn't know this yet. I believed movement was always going to make me feel better, because that's what were always told, right? That exercise fixes everything. sometimes, yes, it absolutely can.
If your body is running on empty, if you're emotionally stretched thin, even the best workout can really just take you over the edge instead of lifting you back up. This links beautifully to what we spoke about last week, the balance between Yin and Yang and how it plays in our nervous system. Yang is a sympathetic state. It's the fire, the doing, the hustle, the action. Yin. That's your parasympathetic state. The quiet, the calm, the breath, the being.
Here's where it gets really interesting, especially when we talk about movement. So, movement is naturally Yang. It's action, it's output, it's that gorgeous surge of energy.
When we're constantly living in that sympathetic state, which is go, go without first restoring our Yin through proper hydration, nourishment and emotional regulation, then adding more Yang on top through intense workout only pushes us further into imbalance. So really, it's just like pouring petrol on an already raging fire.
That's why back then, movement stopped making me feel good. My body wasn't ready for it. I was already in a sympathetic drive. Instead of feeling energised, I was drained. Instead of feeling strong, I felt brittle. Instead of feeling alive, I felt empty.
So, making this realisation and understanding the balance between the Yin and Yang actually started to deepen. I began to understand that to truly enjoy movement, my hydration, nutrition and nervous system had to be in sync. That, lovely, is one of the core reasons why I place fitness after hydration, nutrition and self-care in the HNSF method because I want you to experience movement as something that restores you, not something that depletes you.
When you're Yin is nourished, when you're feeling calm, centred and supported, your body can handle the Yang. Movement becomes joyful again, empowering, it works with your body, not against it and it becomes exactly what it always was meant to be. Fitness isn't punishment, it's permission to feel strong, free and fully you.
Real Life Movement for Busy Bellas
So you might be wondering now, how does all this actually fit in your already busy, beautiful life?
Let's get real, we're not exactly living in a magic bubble with two spare hours and zero responsibilities. We're juggling work, family, dinner deadlines, life administration and about a hundred other things, but here's the magic of all of this.
Movement doesn't have to be all or nothing. Maybe it looks like 20 minutes before dinner, or a quick 10 minute stretch between zoom calls. Maybe it's dancing in the kitchen while the pasta's bubbling away or gently flowing through a few stretches while your little one's asleep. This isn't about hitting the gym five times a week. It's about weaving movement into your life in a way that feels nourishing, joyful and true to you.
Your Gentle Challenge: 20 Minutes a Day
Here's your gentle, loving challenge for the next seven days. Commit to just 20 minutes of movement each day that you get to enjoy. Not what you think you should do, not what burns the most calories, but what makes you feel alive. Maybe it's a walk where you can finally hear your own thoughts. Maybe it's a slow, stretchy yoga session with soft music playing. Maybe it's cranking up your favourite playlist and dancing like no one's watching in your lounge.
Lovely before you start thinking, ‘but I don't have 20 minutes to just like do stuff’. Hear me out. It doesn't have to be all at once. You can absolutely sprinkle it throughout your day. Maybe it's five minutes of breath and movement in the morning, a short walk after lunch and a little groove in the kitchen later. It all counts. Every little bit is a love note to your body. it's not about pressure, it's about presence.
Whether it's 20 minutes one go or little pockets of movement here and there, just make sure it's something that brings you back to yourself, something that makes you smile, breathes deeper breath, or feel a little more like you.

Community
As we talk about this beautiful, life giving kind of movement, the kind that feels joyful, nourishing and just right for you, I want to share something close to my heart.
You might remember earlier I told you how my wellness journey began when I was 19 in the fitness world. A bright eyed group fitness instructor completely lit up by the energy in the room. The music, the sweat, the laughter, the shared experience. That feeling was something amazing. It was electric. I didn't realise it back then, it wasn't just the movement that had me hooked up, it was the community, the connection, the magic that happens when you show up with others, encourage another and celebrate tiny wins together.
That experience planted the seed for what's now become one of the most powerful parts of GA Wellness, our group coaching space. So, if this chat has sparked something in you, if you've been craving support or wanting to find your rhythm with movement in a way that feels good, not forced, I would love to invite you into our group coaching program.
This is where everything we talk about here in this podcast comes to life. It's not just through information, but through connection, through gentle accountability and through celebration and shared stories.
It's where we tune into our bodies, learn to trust what we need and start creating rhythms that actually work in our real lives. Let me tell you, having a group of women cheering you on, it's a total game changer. So, if it's something you're curious about, you can head to the link in the description to join the wait list.
You'll also find the sign up on my email list there as well, where I share bonus resources, podcast updates and little love notes straight to your inbox. Because yes, you can do this on your own, but you don't have to. Transformation happens in community. we'd love to walk this with you.
Recap and What’s Next
Okay, so we covered a lot today and I want you to walk away feeling grounded and clear.
We explored how fitness, which often is the most talked about pillar, is actually the final piece of the HNSF puzzle for a reason. Not because it's less important, but because it needs support, it needs stability and it needs a foundation.
We talked about how movement isn't meant to be punishment. It's meant to be a celebration of what your body can do. A love letter to your energy, a reflection of your joy.
We explored how hydration, nourishment and nervous system support set the stage for movement to actually feel good. Not forced, not draining, but expansive, liberating and empowering.
We talked about my early days in fitness, the highs, the burnouts and the lessons learned and how all of that has shaped not just my personal journey, but the way I now teach, coach and hold space into our GA Wellness community.
We connected the dots to Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs, remembering that our bodies can only truly thrive, like really thrive, when our most basic needs are met.
Movement, when grounded, is support and becomes an act of self-expression, not self-destruction.
We also got a little nerdy with science. We looked at how exercise impacts the nervous system, how stress and depletion change the way movement feels and why it's so important to listen to the body's whispers before it turns into screens.
Then we wrapped it up with your gentle challenge for the week to move joyfully, intentionally and in a way that suits you. Whether it's all in one go or broken up throughout the day, your 20 minutes of movement is a love note to your body, not another item on your to do list.
So next week, oh, I'm excited for this one, we're going to zoom out and look at how all four pillars hydration, nutrition, self-care and fitness come together in a bigger picture in your life. This work, is not just about health, it actually ripples out to relationships, your career, your finances, creativity, your confidence, all of that.
When your body feels safe and supported, you feel safe and supported, that changes everything, so make sure you subscribe so you don't miss it.
