The GA Wellness Podcast With Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast
Hosted by Georgia Ann
The GA Wellness Podcast is the go-to space for women who are juggling a full life and craving real, sustainable wellness that actually fits into the chaos, not on top of it.
Hosted by Georgia Ann, wellness coach, former group fitness instructor and creator of the HNSF Method. This warm, down-to-earth show is for the woman who can lead a meeting, soothe a meltdown and throw dinner together in 20 minutes, but hasn’t had five quiet minutes to herself all day. We lovingly call that woman a Busy Bella and if that sounds familiar, this podcast was made with her in mind.
Each week, Georgia brings heartfelt stories, gentle guidance and science-backed strategies grounded in the four pillars of the GA Wellness philosophy: Hydration, Nutrition, Self-care and Fitness. These episodes go beyond quick fixes and offer tools to help women regulate their nervous systems, rebuild their energy and reconnect with their bodies.
There’s no hustle culture here, just real talk, relatable support and small shifts that lead to lasting change. With journal prompts, mini challenges, advice from experts and encouragement from a growing community, listeners are invited to move step by step from Busy Bella to Balanced Bella.
Whether tuning in on a lunch break, commuting to work, during school pickup, during soccer practice or in the quiet moments before bed, women will feel seen, supported and reminded that they are not alone and they are not behind.
This isn’t about doing more. It’s about doing what
truly supports you in the season you are in.

If you joined me for last week's episode, welcome back. Let's take a quick moment to check in because accountability and a community mean so much in the GA Wellness world
Last Week Hydration Recap
Last week we explored the hydration pillar, why it matters and how even something as small as a glass of water can shift the way you show up in your day.
I offered a gentle invitation to choose one small hydration habit and how it might help you feel in your rhythm. So how did it go for you?
Maybe you started your mornings with water before your coffee, a little reset before the rush. Maybe you tried one of those habit stackings that I spoke about, like adding a glass of water with toilet breaks or with brushing your teeth.
Maybe, honestly, life just got full and you didn't get to it and that's okay too. This isn't about doing it perfectly. It's about checking in with curiosity, celebrating those tiny shifts and meeting yourself with so much grace, no matter where you're at.
Those little acts of kindness? They add up and they remind your body, hey, I am listening. They open the door for something deeper and more lasting change and they start with compassion, not criticism. As we go into today's episode, we want to come with a place of openness and acceptance.
Nourishment and Your Microbiome
We're going to talk about food today and not the whole you know, we're going to cut this out or cut that out. No, we're going to talk about nourishment, real sustaining fuel, the kind that supports your energy, your mood and that incredible little ecosystem living inside your gut.
Before we go deeper, let me take you back for a sec as there was a time I was constantly chasing energy.
My Energy Crash Story
I'd be swinging between low carb one week, high protein the next. I also spoke about how, when I first started in the group fitness industry, how I thought broccoli, brown rice and chicken were the way to go.
I literally tried all the things for so many years, smoothies, detoxes, meal plans, you name it, I tried it. I wasn't clueless. I was actually trying to eat well, but still, like clockwork, 3pm would hit and bang, total crash. I'd be reaching for sugar or a second coffee and wondering, what on earth am I missing?
Does that sound familiar?
What I didn't realise back then, I wasn't actually nourishing my microbiome or truly listening to what my body needed. I thought I was eating the right foods, but I hadn't learned to read my body's cues properly.
I misunderstood those afternoon crashes as a need for sugar, when really my body was crying because it was out of balance.
The McLaren Moment
So, I had a conversation with a friend of mine and they know that I love McLarens. They're my favourite luxury sports car. They turned around and said to me, Georgia, your body is like a McLaren. Now, you wouldn't pour cheap fuel in a McLaren and expect it to run, would you?
I had a shocked look on my face. I was like, ‘um, no!’ Well turns out its the same thing is with us, we need premium fuel because our body is like that McLaren.
For us, that means balance. Nutrient dense meals that support our inner ecosystem and that's when it clicked for me. I started learning a little bit more about what our little ecosystem was.
Your Gut is a Rainforest
My beautiful, busy Bella, your gut, she's like a rainforest. A tiny little universe filled with bacteria, fungi and even viruses, all working together to keep you thriving. Just like a rainforest, diversity is everything..
What exactly is the microbiome? It's basically trillions of microorganisms living mostly in your gut and they're like your body's backstage crew, widely handling digestion, immune function, mood regulation, inflammation and even sleep.
The really cool part is no two microbiomes are exactly the same. So yours is like a fingerprint shaped by your habits, environment, stress levels and even who you live with.
In fact, studies show that people who share a home have more similar microbiomes than family members who live apart. How cool is that?
The Gut-Brain Axis
There's still so much we're learning about the microbiome, but one thing is crystal clear, we can support it by feeding it well.
Here's the part that actually gave you goosebumps. Your microbiome doesn't just impact digestion or energy, it actually talks to your nervous system. This is through what's called the gut-brain axis, which is a literal communication superhighway between your gut and your brain.
When your gut is nourished, your nervous system can regulate better, which makes you feel calmer, more grounded, less reactive, more like you.
We'll actually touch into this a little bit deeper next week when we explore self-care, but for now, just tack this away and just know that your gut health is your mental health.
So let's talk about what fuels your little ecosystem beautifully.
What Your Gut Bugs Love
When you look at your meals and they include quality protein, so think eggs, chicken, tofu or legumes, you're giving your body the building blocks it needs for muscle repair, hormones, immune strength, the works. Protein also slows digestion, which means steadier blood sugar. no 3pm crash and burn.
Low GI carbohydrates, think sweet potatoes, brown rice, oats are your brain's favourite energy sources.
They digest slowly so that your blood sugar stays nice and steady and your focus doesn't dip. A special bonus, many of them are also high in fibre, which your gut bugs love.
Healthy fats, this is the one that I was actually missing when I was younger. Think avocado, olive oils and nuts. These support brain health, balance hormones and help you absorb fat soluble vitamins, which are your A, D, E and K. Plus they reduce inflammation and help keep the gut lining strong and resilient and when you eat your meals like that, you're not just feeding you're feeding them, your little gut bugs. When they're fed well, you feel clearer, more energised, less bloated and more balanced physically and emotionally.
A Real World Upgrade
If that still feels a little sciency, here's a real world translation.
If your usual brekkie is toast with jam and a coffee. Try swapping that for scrambled eggs, avocado on sourdough and a handful of berries.
Voila. You've just upgraded to premium fuel and your gut bugs, they're doing a little happy dance.
Connecting Back to the HNSF Method
All right, we're going to zoom out for a second now and connect this to what we discussed last week.
I introduced last week Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs and how this inspired the HNSF Method. We spoke about how hydration was the foundation and our first pillar. now we move into nutrition.
So when we nourish our bodies with the right fuels, you're not just ticking a nutrition box, we're meeting a core physiological need.
Once we create a solid foundation, we can create the conditions for emotional stability, clearer thinking, stronger relationships.
Plant Diversity and Variety
According to the Australian Dietary Guidelines, meals rich in plant based diversity. Which are fruits, veg, legumes and whole grains are essential for gut health and disease prevention.
A 2021 CSIRO survey found that most Aussies only eat around three different plant foods a day, when what do we actually need?
What's recommended is about 30 per week for optimal microbiome diversity. Yep, I said 30, but don't worry, we're not counting every chickpea. This is about variety over perfection. A sprinkle of seeds here, a different veg there, it all adds up and your body, she notices.
So if you're feeling sluggish, bloated, foggy, or a little up and down emotionally, start with your plate because this isn't just food, this is the foundational care for your gut, your mind and your beautiful self.
So what are we doing? We are feeding that little rainforest.
Your Challenge
Okay, my beautiful busy Bella, this is your tiny but mighty challenge.
For just one meal every day for the next seven days, aim to build your plate with these three things.
Quality protein, think chicken, eggs, tofu, legumes, whatever you love. Just make sure that the protein is lean and quality.
Low GI carb, like sweet potato, brown rice. I love quinoa, something like that. Or oats.
A healthy fat avocado, olive oil, nuts, seeds.
I don't want you to think about calorie counting or food rules. That's not what we're looking at. We're looking at one nourishing, balanced plate that's kind to your body and your gut bugs.
Now, if you're like someone who likes a little bit of a visual. I get that. I'm the same.
Here's a simple way to portion it without overthinking.
So, half your plate have that as non starchy veggies or leafy greens. A quarter of your plate have that as proteins and another quarter is your low GI carb. Then add a little sprinkle or drizzle of healthy fats on top of that and that's it. A total vibe. Balanced, beautiful and your gut will be sending you little thank you notes all day.
So wanna make it fun? If you're up for it, take a snap of your balanced meal and share on Instagram, tag me at @gawellness and use the hashtag #HNSFmethod so I can hype you up.
I seriously love seeing what you create and this might inspire someone else as well.
An Invitation to Group Coaching
If you're craving more support, maybe you're thinking, okay Georgia Ann, that sounds great, but I need a bit of a game plan. I hear you and this is exactly what we dive into when we go through our group coaching space.
We talk through how to actually listen to your body, how to feed it yourself without feeling overwhelmed and how to build habits that stack and stick even when life's doing their full-blown chaos thing.

Recap and What’s Next
Okay, let's wrap this up and let's recap what we've gone through. Take a little bit of a breath as we look back as to what we covered today.
We unpacked what your microbiome actually is, hint, it's more powerful than you think, why it's key to steady energy, happy mood and smooth digestion.
I shared my own light bulb moment, how I went from chasing fad diets to fuelling like I'm driving my luxury McLaren, which for me was a total mindset shift.
We explored how balanced meals with protein, low GI carbs and healthy fats are the real MVPs when it comes to looking after that incredible little ecosystem in your gut.
Now, your gentle challenge this week, build one balanced meal every day, even if it's just breakfast or lunch and give those little gut bugs some love.
You're not just feeding yourself, you're fuelling your whole body and your brain to make it feel amazing and next week we're moving into the self-care pillar, and no, it's not just bubble baths and candles.
Although you've heard me talk about how I'm due for a spa day, we're diving deeper into the nervous system, which we touched on today. How to calm it, support it and actually feel more grounded when life gets loud. Spoiler alert. Your gut's involved in that as well, so it all links beautifully together and remember, you're doing so much better than you think. I'm so glad you're here.
