Random posting doesn’t fail because you’re not trying hard enough. It fails because it doesn’t give people a reason to trust you, understand you, or take action. We share a simple framework built for insurance agencies that want consistent leads without living on social media: three post types that work across Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, and beyond.

First, we get clear on educational posts that actually help. Think coverage explainers, quick guidance on when to review a policy, and team spotlights that make your agency feel real and recognizable in your community. When people can picture who they’ll talk to and what you do, reaching out feels easier.

Next, we lean into trust-building content, the behind-the-scenes moments and community involvement that show how you operate. Ribbon cuttings, giving back through coat drives or toy drives, supporting teachers, and even sponsoring travel ball can become powerful signals that you’re invested locally for the long run.

Finally, we talk about decision-driving posts that guide action: quotes, comparisons, and especially reviews. We explain how to highlight testimonials so your happy clients do the selling for you, and why five-star Google reviews matter so much for local SEO and showing up when people search for an insurance agent near them. If this helped, subscribe, share it with another agency owner, and leave a quick review so more people can find the show.

Hey y'all, welcome back to another episode of the Insurance Marketing Playbook Podcast. I'm your host, Shelby McFarland, the marketing broker. Today we're talking about three different types of posts that you need to be doing as an insurance agency. Yes, we talk about being consistent all the time,

Welcome And Today’s Game Plan

but let's get down to the details of what kind of posts you should be doing on your social media on Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, everything. The first one's gonna be your educational post. So talk about what kind of coverage you offer, talk about um who you are as a person and how you help your community. Do some team spotlights. I really like to do that part because if they are someone that helps them inside of the office all the time, then they

are gonna be someone that they're gonna be able to recognize when they walk in there. So whenever I'm doing that for my clients, then I want to make sure we're giving a little bit of a bio. Um maybe it's Mother's Day. Are they mothers in there? So making sure to really highlight your people so that way they can then be recognized by the community and things like that. Also, we want to do trust building posts to show who you are and how you work. These are really fun to do, like behind the scenes, if you're on your stories, if you're doing something in the community, like going to a ribbon cutting, or maybe you're giving back. A lot of times I like to um help my clients

with like coat drives, or maybe they're doing toy drives or things like that that they could really give back to their community and be focused on what it is and how important it is to be there. Because everybody needs insurance, right? But not everybody's gonna choose an insurance agent if they don't get involved in the community. It doesn't matter how big of a town you live in, um how many people live there. It really matters if you're involved in your community and what you're doing to really help sustain. If you're spending money there, if you live there, if your kids go to school there. Um, also helping teachers, I've noticed, is a really big pro in communities, especially small ones. And then now we're in baseball season. If you're listening to this during baseball season, like travel ball, that's also important to sponsor them because if you're helping their kids, then they're gonna come back and help you and your business as well. And the last post that I recommend you be doing is decision-driving posts that guide action. So things like people leaving reviews, people asking for quotes, if they're comparing, like, hey, when you should review your policy and things like that. Those are really decision-making

posts. So if they see that their friend has saved money using your insurance agency, then they're also gonna call you and see if you can save them money. So let those reviews really talk to your future clients and customers, and you really wanna highlight them. You also want them to be on Google as much as possible. Yes, if they're leaving some kind of review on Facebook or Instagram or in their story, like that's always great. But we really want them to go to Google and leave that five-star review for Google as well. So with these three types of posts, we have our educational posts, we have our trust building, and then also decision driving posts. We want to make sure we're doing three posts a week. So there you go. I just gave you three post ideas for every week. You can really use that, you can put it in AI, you can have them help you really come up with different prompts, different content to put with that. And then if you have those photos that you need to take in-house, or if you have a photographer
