Children's Constipation, Diarrhoea & Travel Sickness: Natural Solutions
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
As soon as you become a parent, you spend an awful lot of time discussing your child's bodily functions! Especially wee and poo. Babies' tummies are perfect for blowing raspberries, but when children have issues with their bowels, it can lead to real pain and discomfort.
If your child hasn't done a poo in days, or you're dealing with yet another stomach bug, or every car journey ends with vomit - this episode is for you.
Today I'm covering 3 common bowel issues in children and what to do about them naturally. These are problems every parent faces at some point, and having natural solutions ready makes all the difference.
In this episode, you'll discover:
- The 3 F's that alleviate constipation (this method works brilliantly)
- Why children's constipation is completely different to adults (they're more likely to "hold on" - and I'm explaining why this becomes a vicious cycle)
- What conventional laxatives actually do and why you need to keep going for at least 3 months even after things improve
- The best way to feed a child with diarrhoea and vomiting (little and often, starting with something simple)
- Why rehydration salts matter more than you think (it's not just about fluids)
- The Blue Kit remedy that's brilliant for food poisoning
- What actually causes travel sickness (it's all about mixed signals to the brain)
- Simple tricks that help prevent it (involves looking at the horizon)
- The remedy from the Blue Kit that's great for nausea
Here's what most parents don't realise: children's constipation creates a fear cycle. They anticipate pain, so they hold on, which makes it worse, which makes them more fearful. Breaking this cycle requires patience and consistency.
All the remedies I'm mentioning are in the Blue Kit, which means you're covered whether you're at home or on holiday. Quick, safe, natural relief for tummy troubles that every family faces.
If you're tired of dealing with these issues and want solutions that actually work, listen to this episode.

Hello and welcome to the Homeopath in Your Pocket, where I help busy working mums discover how to support their families' health with confidence. Hi, I'm your host, Neila Prabhu, a licensed homeopath with 20 years of experience as a pharmacist. As a mum of two girls, I totally understand the juggle of family life firsthand. Each week, I'll share practical, actionable tips that you can use today to support your family's well-being. So let's get started. Natural solutions for all of these issues. So in today's episode, we're going to cover children's constipation and these other bowel issues that I've mentioned. So as soon as you become a parent, you spend an awful lot of time discussing your child's bodily functions, especially we and Pooh. Baby's tummies are the perfect place to blow that amazing raspberry. However, when children have issues with their bowels, it can cause real pain and discomfort. So today I'm going to be talking about three common bowel ailments and what to do about them. So number one, constipation. So children should be doing a poe at least once a day. If they haven't been for a few days, that's a problem. If they're complaining of stomach ache, constipation may well be the cause. So my rule for constipation is the three F's. So fluid, fibre, and fitness or movement. And this is the best way to alleviate and prevent constipation. So the first F stands for fluid, so make sure that they're drinking plenty of water. This helps to soften the stools and eases the passage through the bowels. Diluted fruit juice is also okay, but it's best to avoid fizzy drinks. Number two is fibre. So high fibre foods can add bulk to the stools and they help to stimulate the stool moving forwards through the bowel. So examples here are sweet corn, baked beans, peas, brown flakes, plums, berries, and spinach. It's quite a big list. So find something that your child will eat and make sure you're incorporating that every day in their food. Something that's easy to add into their meals. And the last F is for fitness or movement. So any kind of movement helps the bowels to move as well. So walking, jumping, skipping, yoga, dancing, running, playing. So any kind of movement means that your bowels are more likely to move to get the children to be more active. Children's constipation is slightly different to adults because they're more likely to hold on and not go for a pope. And why is that? So the reason for that is that they anticipate pain when they're going to go to the toilet. So once that creates that vicious cycle, so they have a fear of going to the toilet because they know they're going to have pain. They then hold on, which results in a harder stool, which then results in more pain and more fear. And so the cycle goes. She was in pain for up to 20 hours a day, looking after her eight-month-old and her other three children. Twenty minutes after her first remedy from me, the pain was gone. Just 20 minutes. By two months, she was completely pain-free, no longer constipated or straining, and extremely relieved. Her words, not mine. This is root cause healing, not just papering over the cracks. And if you're wondering whether I can help with other digestive issues, the short answer is yes. And I've got a gallbladder case on my website that will make your jaw drop. So go and have a look.
