Alison Vella

Alison brings a wealth of wellness and reablement expertise to her role as Stakeholder Engagement Lead, having previously worked as a Reablement Mentor in the Department of Health and Aged Care’s Promoting Independent Living Trial.


With qualifications in reablement, dementia care, and motivational interviewing, plus extensive service delivery experience, Alison has supported hundreds of clients to focus on their own stories and motivations to reach their reablement goals.


In 2021, she received the Future of Ageing Emerging Leader Award for her significant contribution to reablement in aged care.

Amy-Pearl Jones

Amy-Pearl Jones works for Carers WA and has experience as a carer at home to her mother. She used the approach of Everything You Do For Me, You Take From Me after hearing about it from Keep Able and doing our online learning module.

Dr Claire O’Connor

Dr Claire O’Connor is an Occupational Therapist and Senior Research Fellow in the School of Psychology from the University of New South Wales.  Dr O’Connor has been actively completing research on why reablement should be used for people living with dementia to support non-pharmacological interventions. She is currently undertaking a Dementia Centre for Research Collaboration (DCRC) post doctoral fellowship to understand how to bridge the implementation gap to maximise everyday functioning for people living with dementia. Combining her clinical training in occupational therapy and research skills, Claire is passionate about contributing to research that is meaningful to ageing populations and people impacted by dementia.

Nell Hawe

Nell Hawe lives in Port Macquarie and has been living with younger-onset Alzheimer’s since 2020. She has extensive experience and expertise of over 30 years in the aged care and disability sectors starting out as a disability support worker then a trainer. Nell joined the Dementia Advocates program at Dementia Australia just after her diagnosis and is a very active member.
