At five years old, she prayed every night for her father to come home.

She thought if she was a “good girl,” he would return.

In this episode of Suit & Boot: Standing Up in Truth & Transformation, Melissa Wilson — attorney, wife of 19 years, mother, and founder of Lawyers in the Making — shares her journey as a first-generation Jamaican-American navigating identity, illness, marriage, law school, and motherhood.

Her path was anything but traditional.

✨ Cycling through chronic health challenges
✨ Working full-time just to maintain health insurance
✨ Starting law school immediately after undergrad
✨ Becoming pregnant during law school
 ✨ Studying between newborn wake-ups
✨ Building her own firm instead of waiting for a seat at the table

Some moments in her story feel like survival.
 Some feel like awakening.
 Some feel like fire.

We won’t name them all here.

But if you’ve been listening, you may recognize the stages.

If Melissa’s story resonates with you, ask yourself:

Where am I right now?

Scorpion.
 Eagle.
 Or Phoenix.
