This meditation helps you build emotional balance by training you to become more mindful, to observe your thoughts and feelings as passing sensations while returning your focus to the simple rhythm of your breath.

While we often do breathing-focused meditations on this podcast, this one definitely gives more space because it's not about counting something or deepening anything. It's just about focusing on your breath and being mindful about any thoughts, feelings, stories. So with that, make yourself comfortable. And if you have the opportunity to sit in a chair with your feet flat on the floor, you may find that very supportive for this meditation just because it allows you to be comfortable and your spine is straight and you can just breathe more freely. But it doesn't have to be like that. So if you're unable to be in that position, then be in whatever position you find yourself in now. And turn your attention to your breathing. Not any place in particular. Just the general act of breathing in and out. But because this is a mindfulness practice, the focus here is just to focus on your breathing in general, not counting, not forcing, just focusing on the sensations of breathing in and breathing out. Because the true practice is whenever thoughts or feelings come up, conversations in your head about this or that. Just notice them and imagine them drifting away. And return your attention to just paying attention to the sensation of your body breathing in and out. In and out. And if thoughts and judgments and conversations or feelings come up again, just notice them as quickly as you can, without judging, without condemning, with a gentle acceptance instead. And return your attention in that moment to just paying attention to the feeling of your body breathing in and out. And there's no right or wrong, there's no perfect. Sometimes we do this and it's really easy, and other times we do it, and it's like, oh my gosh, my mind won't stop. But that's what mindfulness is all about. Just being mindful about what's happening in the present moment, and coming to it with a sense of openness, a sense of ease, a sense of acceptance for what is right here, right now. And what is right here, right now, is that this is the end of this episode. So thank you for spending your time with me today. I totally appreciate you. I appreciate you every time you listen to an episode and every time you share this free relaxing resource with others.
