That Physical Culture Podcast
Join Renee and Justine for a candid, cheeky and totally heartfelt look at Physical Culture in Australia, celebrating the women, the wins and the wonderfully unhinged moments that make Physie what it is.
We come from a position of being absolute novices (well actually, we're moving into Intermediate in 2026, if you want to be technical!), so if you're looking for an expert viewpoint of Physie, you're in the wrong place!
This podcast has zero affiliation with BJP Physie and/or our club. It's a manifestation of many hundreds of conversations we've had about physie over the past three years. Our views and opinions do not represent those of BJP Physical Culture and/or our club.
Where we poke some fun at physie (all types of physie) please know, we absolutely love doing Physie, but like all creative outlets, there's always little things that surprise us and make us laugh and we want to share those laughs with others! It's all in jest, and we have no desire to offend or upset anyone.
Hopefully these discussions will open up the Physie world to others, and ultimately grow our amazing sport! With love and appreciation, Renee & Justine.

I wanted to give my 2 cents worth of input about the origin of the bare feet instead of ballet shoes in Physie. It wasn't in the 70's it was much later and the rogue Randwick girl was actually a champion swimmer as well as a physie champion, but she had forgotten to pack her ballet shoes for the national finals performance so she just went on the opera house floor with bare feet and everyone was shocked. I was there. She was such a strong and fierce competitor that from then on girls just emulated her and eventually no one wore ballet shoes. It was in the late 80's or early 90's. I'm now in my 50's and I moved from country NSW in Dubbo to the Newcastle region to be taught by Val Connors. I competed in the Seniors National Finals at the Opera House from 1991 - 1999. By the way, I absolutely love your podcast. I'm now an associate in Townsville Qld. Thank you for your wonderful entertainment - Melanie Adams
I’m a leotard gal! I didn’t do dance when I was younger and am embracing it all now because I’ll never have this body ever again so fuck it 🤷♀️ my debut was fluro yellow and I’m going to rock the hot pink this year (in in my barbie era). And yes, undies are absolutely necessary with fishnets 😅 going to be investing in butt glue this year though 🙃
Hi Queens! One of my very best friends has been unwell this year (chronic illnesses) and has been unable to attend many physie classes. She's feeling very lost with the work and unmotivated; but physie is her very important 'me time' away from being a SAHM to her amazing little boy with autism. I want her to have a little motivation to keep going to classes and a reminder that it will get easier. Today she is doing a community walk on the brand new Badgerys Creek airport runway. She's going to do a bit of a physie march so she can claim the title of first physie march on the new airport runway! (She definitely has plane autism) Any chance you can shoutout to Amy Sanchez from Hills Physie, United Physie for her 'amazing' new record? It's all very tongue in cheek and plays into her sense of humour. Anything I've mentioned in the post can absolutely be said on air or if that's not possible, you can make a post/comment on her physie club social? Hillsphysie
A newbie this year. Still here! Old Cali girl from 35 years ago. Loving it so far.
Finally! Physie has its very own Roy and HG! Got sick of listening to the news this morning and thought I’d give your podcast a go on my morning walk. THE BEST start to the day I’ve had for ages. Can’t wait to listen to more. Thank you 🤩
