The Summit Effect
This podcast explores the space between physical anatomy and energetic intuition — where healing becomes something you actively participate in, not something done to you. Hosted by Osteopathic Manual Practitioner and Reiki Master Teacher, Alanna Crawford, The Summit Effect teaches you how to understand your body, trust your intuition, and reclaim your power in your own health journey and beyond. This isn’t about being “more spiritual” or chasing perfection — it’s about learning to SHOW UP as the truest expression of yourself and letting the ripple of that change everything.

Working With Astrology In Real Time
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
In this episode, we unpack astrology in a way that feels far less overwhelming and a lot more human. Instead of treating every moon phase like a deadline or a 24-hour portal you can “miss,” we explore astrology as a slow unfolding pattern that moves through your life in seasons. We walk through the energetic progression from Aries season into Taurus season and now into Gemini season, and how each sign builds on the last emotionally, energetically, and practically.
We also break down the difference between sun sign seasons, new moons, and full moons in a grounded and digestible way — including why the new moon is like the “final exam” of the season, and why full moons act more like flashlights illuminating what still needs attention.
Plus, we dive into the upcoming Sagittarius full moon and why it may be bringing radical honesty to the surface.
In this episode:
- Why astrology is meant to be worked with slowly, not perfectly
- Aries season, anger, shadow work, and the “fire” of spring
- Taurus season and grounding big ideas into reality
- Gemini season and how communication creates momentum
- The difference between sun sign seasons, new moons, and full moons
- Why the new moon is like the “final exam” of the season
- How astrology helps us recognize patterns and participate more consciously in our lives
My summit takeaway:
You are not behind.
These seasons move through us slowly.
Astrology is here to help you notice yourself more clearly.

SPEAKER_01Hello everyone! Happy Wednesday! I am actually so jazzed for today's episode. I feel like this is a really fun one for you. Um, if you're really looking to make some moves. And I just want to preface because I the examples I'm gonna use are are around job, but that's just because the way the astrology works for me. But it can be literally anything. It could be taking up knitting. Like we're not, it doesn't have to be big, massive moves. It can be, but it doesn't have to be. So just let that sink in and digest before we start the episode. I noticed in my statistics that the more woo-woo episodes seem to be downloaded more. And I love this for us, you guys. We're into the woo. So I thought I would hit you with one today. Um, it's gonna help us work with astrology more in like a slow burn rather than like, okay, the full moon was this day, I have three days to release this. Like, no, no, no, my friends. It's it's it's all fluid energy. Like when you understand energy, it's all fluid. Astrology is speaking to us in themes. And what I go through today with you will probably resonate with the feelings you're already feeling, or if you think back to like last month or the month before, things you were feeling then, and we can kind of catch back up. But before I get into it, I want to nerd out a little bit about what I was up to last week and why we didn't have an episode. Uh, if you follow me on social media at Olana Crawford underscore, you will know I was on a cranial sacral course. So some of you might have heard of it or even experienced cranial sacral therapy. It's an osteopathic modality that really works in the cranium, so like your head, and through the spinal cord and into the sacrum. So the sacrum is the big bone that sits between your two hip bones and that your tailbone is attached to. And it's working within that pathway with the cerebral spinal fluid and the dural membrane. And in English, it's just a really great modality to work with a body system that some believed you actually can't access. But like I've talked about in the problem with data-only healing episode, is just because we cannot measure the success of a treatment or a modality to these standards, these relatively new standards of measurement, it doesn't mean it doesn't work. And we actually are beginning to be able to measure the success of this modality, which is really, really cool. But if you look at the qualitative data of this research, it is mind-blowing. I do have a little bit of mixed feelings about how the course was delivered, um, but I did love going down a cranial rabbit hole, cranial nerves, anatomy. And it's really funny because I find every time I'm drawn to something, it's like I attract it into my clinic. So right now I'm working on a few pretty complicated cranial courses, uh, courses and cranial cases, and I'm I'm just like so, so, so excited to help them and take all my hard work and take this course and like put it to good use. Anyway, just wanted to riff about that for a sec because I'm a huge nerd. Anywho, I was gonna put this episode out last week, right at the Taurus New Moon, but with studying for the course, I just I did not want to give you guys a half-ass episode, and pushing it to this week actually fueled this episode, and I think it makes it better to the point that we're gonna talk about. So, astrologers, if do not come at me for this, okay? I know it's your bread and butter, and I'm not disputing that you shouldn't be up on the timing of all the moons and the things. You can do that, and that's amazing. But I do truly believe in working with energy and understanding how energy works, astrology really works in subtleties. So I feel like sometimes we view astrology like, okay, I have to get my new moon checklist in in these three days, or I have to do this thing while this portal's open for 24 hours. And it feels very immediate. And if you don't get the timing right, it's like you lost it. Bam, it's gone. See ya, we'll see you when the portal opens again. And I want you guys to let that idea out of your head, okay? Just like let it float away. If you're into that, like if you're in it in astrology, you keep doing what you're doing. You might not even resonate with this episode. If that is your bread and butter, you keep doing you it works, that's great. But if it stresses you out and you feel like you want to get into it, but you don't really understand how, and like you've got a lot going on. We can't be in the portal or be in the full moon in these three days because like your kids got to go to soccer and you have to work and you wanna work out and maybe clean your kitchen. Like, I want you to think of astrology as a pattern unfolding throughout your life. So I'm gonna break this down for you so you can understand how to optimize things, but then also how to simplify things and understand where your energy is best put for maximum results. So we're gonna start with the sun season. And the sun season is the astrologer uh the astrological sign you were born under. So I am a Leo. You are a insert your sign here. And these sun cycles, they work in approximately one month cycle. So there's 12, right? We just left Taurus season and now we're newly in Gemini season. That that's referring to our sun sign. When I say I am a Leo, I am saying like my son is in Leo. That's your predominant sign. Um, and I want you to think of the sun season like this semester. If we are in school, I yeah, coming hot off a course. We're making, we're making school analogies, okay? So if we are in school, the sun season is the semester, the course, your singular course you're taking that semester. So now I'm gonna to paint this picture, I'm gonna take us back to Aries season for a hot minute, but I promise you I will tie this all up with a pretty little bow by the end, okay? So just follow me on this journey. So Aries season was March 20th to April 19th, and Aries season is really characteristic of moving from winter to spring. So Aries is really about thawing out from the winter and emerging into spring by calling yourself back to yourself. And this really ties strongly with traditional Chinese medicine. Um, there was an episode I made two weeks ago around anger in the liver. Um, so around that spring equinox, that's the liver season. And liver holds anger. And if we're not our truest expression or we're suppressing emotions, you're really going to feel it in Aries season. Because Aries shakes things up, okay? They love new beginnings and they don't do things over and over because, like, that's just the way you've done them before. So Aries can be described as fiery. And I think that's really fitting because this is the season where we're where we're trying to start a new beginning. We want to be bold and fresh. But if we haven't faced our shadow, so if we haven't faced the things that we are suppressing, it's going to come out as fiery anger and rage, which is so fitting for the Aries astrology season. So, see how kind of those modalities overlap here in Aries season. And because it's it's it's a big shift of seasons as well. So that's why Aries season is big. Um, so from an astrological perspective, Aries season was asking us to dive deep into who we are and go after whatever it is we're trying to create unapologetically. And so you have to stop asking permission and like just fucking do it. It's a fire sign and it has fire and drive and determination, and it's not a season of weighing pros and cons. Okay, it's just going after it. So you either felt that and you went with it, or because that was stirring, but you have some shadow stuff you need to work through. If you don't understand what shadow stuff is, go back to my last episode and listen to the shadow and liver in spring episode. But if you have shadow stuff you need to work through, Aries season felt angry and uncomfortable in and ungrounded for you. And if we still kind of haven't dealt with that, it can still be lingering. Okay, and then we move it into Taurus season. So Taurus season was April 20th to May 20th. And now we're moving from a fire sign into an earth sign, so earthy, earthy Taurus. And already this kind of gives you a little breathing room, and you you probably felt that a little bit. So naturally moving into an earth sign starts to ground us a little. Even if we are feeling very ungrounded, it's still the energy of this of the sun season is going to like ground us down a little bit and give us a breather. And Taurus season's really practical. It's about laying the groundwork and ironing out processes, but not in like a quick way. So Aries was quick, Taurus is slowing down, like taking the first grounded stepping stone towards the goal is or whatever we identified in that Aries season. But it's also ruled by Venus, which is the planet of beauty and love. So while we are laying this foundation, it's enjoyable. It's like sprinkling in the finer things in life and really leaning into loving the process. Apologize for the clicking. That is, Argo is still with us in here. All right, so Taurus season, it's it's abundance season, um, kind of for the reasons of like of leaning into the process and sprinkling in the finer things because we're making practical steps forward while also having like a manifestation energy. Like attracts like. So if we're noticing beauty, the progression in the small steps, slowing down and connecting to what matters, we're really in kind of a manifesting timeline. And that's why Taurus season is really um synonymous with abundance season. And often we look at like our finances or goals like financially in Taurus season. So, how would this show up for you? Well, if you had big ideas and like a go, go, go attitude during Aries season, Taurus season, you would start to ground those ideas and take the first steps into making it a reality. It's like if you you took your foot off the gas, but you're still moving forward, although it feels like a slower pace, it actually you're making moves that need to happen to create the big picture stuff you decided on in Aries season. And again, that can simply be taking up crocheting or starting a business. There's no nothing too big or too small here. But if that's not you, and then that's okay. This season did give you breathing room to look at what didn't feel good. So innately, you probably noticed you stopped giving your attention to things that don't matter, and you started doing an inventory of the stuff that makes you happier, lights you up. So, Taurus season, you probably felt a little bit less agitated, and you're you can kind of identify, like, okay, my agitation might be coming from here, it might be coming from here. So you see how Taurus built on Aries. Aries, we had like this big bold ideas or big bold feelings. And Taurus is like, okay, I see the end goal, but let's come back down to Earth and take some tactful steps to get there. And now we move into Gemini season, which is May 21st to June 20th. And now we're looking at a season change again. So now we're moving from spring to summer. So Taurus in the height of spring was like, okay, I know if I plant this seed, it will eventually turn into a flower, and I see what is potentially available to me. Now, Gemini moving out of spring, getting ready for summer, Gemini season becomes the communication pathway to get there. Gemini's an air sign. I like to think of Gemini season like things moving through air. I don't I don't know how to explain this. This is my thought, and I don't know if this will make sense, but have you ever been portaging and like let's say you're in Algonquin and you're on this big lake and you see no one around you, like you think you're the only person on the lake. But if it's a quiet night on the lake, you can hear all these campsites that you can't see, and and you know they're not yelling, they're just talking, but it just like it carries quickly, it just boom, boom, boom. That's that's how I think of Gemini season. It's all about communication, and it's not just verbally, it's not just verbal communication, but it's talking about exploring all the ways you can bring life to whatever it is that Aries lit a fire in you, like exploring different avenues, being very curious, having conversations, meeting new people, like that kind of thing. There's an article about Gemini season on Moon Omens, and they say Gemini season teaches us words create worlds. And I think that is said perfectly. Like it's the season we are verbalizing, putting meaning to, exploring new avenues of ways to get to the end goal. So when we look at the seasons as they build, Aries was the big bold thing, idea, plan, it stirred that fire in us. Taurus was like, okay, we have the thing, but let's take a tangible step to begin the process. It slowed us down enough to notice some patterns. Gemini is okay, now that we're on the path, let's open it up. Let's not limit ourselves in how we explore or express this. It's asking, like, what are we doing with this awareness? Then next season up would be cancer season, and there we get a little introspective and reflective there. But you see how it builds, like it's a full cycle that takes you from start to finish that meld together different themes over the 12 sun seasons. And if you're off on the timing, that's okay. Like it's still okay to reflect back on Aries season and say, okay, during this time, like what was really on my mind? Or what was making me really angry? And then say, okay, I'm gonna take one grounded step towards relieving that or creating that for tourist season. Then go ahead and meet us in Gemini and keep building. How many of us in university or college or whatever it is that you took didn't even get it into high gear or didn't really even show up to the course until midterms? Or honestly, just gambled it all on the final exam. We all got to the same end goal. We just participated in different timelines. And that being said, if the sun sign is the entire semester, the course, the new moon is the final exam. So if you've been showing up to class all semester, no worries. You're feeling confident for that final exam. Maybe there's some stuff to brush up on or something you really enjoyed, so you're gonna dig deeper into it because you you aren't cramming right now. So you can you can get really niche on something specific. But if you just coasted through the semester and you're like, shoot, I need to get the cliff notes because that's the biggest bang for my buck, then you're gonna go all in on a full on a new moon. So the new moon is more focused, it's more directed, it zooms in on a specific aspect of the season and asks, like, what are you building with this energy? The new moon asks, what are you committing to? The new moon's really calling in. So the new moon is always the sun sign of the season we are in. So it like we're in Gemini season, so it will be a Gemini new moon. But on a specific day of that month, there will be a new moon in the sign, like it's like a fresh start, right? So it's not like a new moon is not visible in the sky. And then from that new moon, so we see nothing, from that day forward, the moon will be waxing, so it's going to be growing. So you're taking very specific intention and building it. Now, because it's a specific day, the astrology to that day is unique, which means from year to year, the focus, for example, the Taurus New Moon, which has already happened, it will be different based on what the planets are doing. But the overarching theme is the same because it's the sun season. So, for example, this past Taurus New Moon was a supermoon, so it was extremely focused on wealth and worth. Whereas the 2025 Taurus New Moon, while similar, worth and finances, but Mars was in Leo and there were some other placements, and it was that's the 2025, it was asking us to check our ego where finances are involved and really invite the grounding earth aspects of Taurus into those areas and reflect and dial in. So the new moon really becomes cramming for that final exam. We know the theme of the course, but we may not have paid attention the entire way, but we're gonna get super focused for the short period and pull it all together. And that's when you might want to focus your attention on doing something for the new moon. And then lastly, in that course cycle, we have the full moon. And you can think of the full moon like the extra credit assignment. So if you love the course, you showed up every day, you aced the exam, and there's still like three percent that can round you up to a perfect grade, like you go, girl. You go get that full moon ritual and get that extra credit. But if you were like, hey, didn't love the course, did what I needed to do, I know I'm gonna pass and I don't want to put in any more effort, skip it. Okay, it's not mandatory. You do not need the full moon to pass. You can skip the full moon. But if the course handed your ass to you and it was so hard, and you really want to ensure you passed it, you're gonna throw the kinshin sink at it because you never want to have to redo this semester again. Then I'm gonna say you go get that full moon ritual, my friend. So the full moon is always in the opposite position of the sun sign. So the full moon, we have one coming up. You might you might already be feeling it. The full moon on May 31st is in Sagittarius, which is opposite Gemini. And working with the full moon is a short period, it's about three days. But what it does is it creates awareness through contrast because we're looking at opposing signs. So the full moon asks, what are you becoming aware of? And full moons can show us imbalance, they can show us tension, they can, they can show us what's missing. I really find that with full moon practices, they show me what's missing and what needs adjustment. Because, like looking at opposites, it helps us see more clearly. I personally am not a full moon girl myself, but if I'm really struggling in the sun season, I do look at the full moon to be like, okay, what am I missing here? Like, why is this so hard or bothering me so much? And it just gives you better questions to ask. But they're also about bringing into awareness and then releasing. So whereas new moons are about calling in, full moons are about releasing. It's why they tend to be synonymous with like burning stuff. Like you write it down and burn it because it no longer serves you and you're releasing it. So they're not usually the whole lesson, right? They're like, they're more like a flashlight moment inside the larger season. So let's look at the Sag. So right now we're in Gemini season, and Gemini is promoting curiosity, information, learning, conversation, movement, and then Sagittarius full moon brings the opposite energy. Okay, wisdom, truth, big picture perspective, belief systems, meaning. Gemini's gathering all this information, and Sagittarius asks, okay, but what does this all mean? And this specific blue moon is asking for radical honesty. So it might feel exhausting, it might feel like information overload, but it's going into those feelings, ideas, thoughts, patterns, and saying, like, where is the truth here? So for me, in this theme, um, like big work stuff has been coming up for me. And this is really since Aries season. I had a lot, a lot of anger. I think I shared that in my anger episode, probably why I made it. Um, I had a lot of like unsettled anger in Aries season, and a lot of it was around work. I love my job, but just like processes and things, how I do things I want change. And yesterday I literally could not keep my eyes open. But I had had 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep, which is like unheard of for me. And today I just feel I'm at zero energy, but I'm I'm getting all this sleep. So I was wondering what house is Sagittarius in for me? I bet it's my second house. Like, I bet it's work because I'm dead, but we're coming up to a full moon. So this makes sense. When kind of we need to work with the moon, you'll really feel exhausted or uneasy. So sure. Enough, pull up my birth chart, Sag is in my second house, and that governs work, money, values, daily routines, priorities, work ethic. Like, of course, this is all stuff I've been trying to figure out how I change or adjust. And I've really been dancing around changes I know I need to make because they're scary. They scare me. And this full moon is asking me to be radically honest about this stuff. Like, guys, the moons know what up what's up. They don't ever lie. My best friend, I'm actually gonna post our text conversation as the promo to this episode. So it's her birthday, it's her birthday today. Um, and she's just so exhausted, and she's like, I don't know what the heck's going on, like I can't function. So she's pregnant, she recently found out she's having a daughter, um, and she's got a lot of big family and life changes and choices, decisions, like big, big decisions coming up, and motherhood is upon her, right? She's at the halfway point of her pregnancy. And so I said to her, I bet you Sag is in your fourth house, like in family. She's like, Ah, okay, let me consult, let me consult Chat GPT. And sure enough, she's like, Yep, fourth house. That's home, that's roots, that's family, self-care, emotions, motherhood, children, femininity, like bang on the money. And so this is also a full moon that she probably doesn't want to sit out, especially because she's feeling that exhaustion. So full moons are like snippets or flashes of insight within the sun sign that might be weighing on us or holding us back from kind of completing the big picture and moving forward. Um, and you don't, you don't have to perfectly optimize every moon phase or understand every transit or movement as it happens, right? Astrology can be done slowly, cyclically, in layers. Um sometimes Aries season just plants the emotion, and Taurus season just helps us recognize an inner pattern. And Gemini season might help you start interacting with it differently. Like we could just be talking about an emotion, doesn't have to be a big change. Um, and then maybe the Sagittarius full moon, it simply helps illuminate where you think you're ready to be a little bit bigger or live bigger or tell yourself a different story. I think a huge part of astrology is truly to help us recognize our patterns and to understand timing and become honestly, and this is a big one for me in how I run my practice and how I try to help people, is it it teaches us to become more conscious in our precipitation. Oh my gosh, Lynn, have some coffee. In your participation with your own life, right? We have to be an active participant. This stuff doesn't just happen to us. We have to participate. And that would be my summit takeaway, guys. We have to participate as big or as small as we want it to be, but simply just becoming aware of the themes, I think is a great entry point for us all. I hope you guys enjoyed this. This is actually really fun to make. Um, I'm loving that you guys are into the woo.
