We tell a PURE KAOS childhood story about show and tell, jealousy, and stealing a rattlesnake tail, then connect it to how lying can feel effortless when we’re trying to protect ourselves. We end by talking plainly about how addiction can fuel secrecy, excuses, and the “it’s not hurting anyone” mindset.
• growing up lessons about why stealing and lying matter
• a second grade show and tell that turns into a theft
• the classroom desk search and the stress of almost getting caught
• the punchline moment when a chinchilla steals the spotlight
• keeping the rattlesnake tail as a trophy and owning the lack of regret
• linking childhood justification to lying and stealing during drinking or drugs

We can choose to give in to the KAOS, or we can forge a new path forward!

Friday Chaos And A Confession

SPEAKER_00

Hello, hello, and thank you for tuning in for another video for Friday. Happy Friday, everyone. Hope you're doing good. So pure chaos, what will we talk about today? Well, it's nothing that really has to do with, you know, addiction because obviously this story was when I was in about grade two, but I was talking to my to my wife about it and kids and stuff, and telling them, you know, why you shouldn't, you know, it's not good to steal, it's not good to lie. And then, you know, of course, the kids ask, Well, did you ever steal or lie when you were a kid? Yeah. So obviously I was like, Well, yeah, I did. So here's what happened.

The Show And Tell Setup

SPEAKER_00

So I was about, I believe I was in grade two. This is a long time ago. And at our school we had the show and tell. And I didn't really have anything really great for show and tell. So I basically brought a rock. Because I'm like, well, this is a cool rock, you know, because we used to go by the train tracks and find fool's gold, right? So where I lived as a kid in Airdrie, I would um, you know, we'd walk along the tracks and find these little white rocks with like fool's gold on it. So I had this rock. I'm like, this is my show and tell. This is what I'm gonna do. Well, come the morning of show and tell, my nemesis, Ryan, is showing

Jealousy Sparks A Bad Choice

SPEAKER_00

everybody what he's gonna have for show and tell. And this little motherfucker brings a fucking rattlesnake tail, like the fucking shaky part. I'm like, fuck! So of course I'm like, how the fuck is my rock gonna compete with this? And of course, you know, he's bragging, he's fucking, you know, oh, I got a fucking snake, rattlesnake tail. Well, that infuriated me. So during recess before show and tell, I kind of snuck back into the classroom and I stole Ryan's fucking rattlesnake tail. And I put it in my desk and I stuffed it at the back of my desk, and we had those old desks that kinda, you know, flip up in the front and all your shit's inside, just a fucking major cluster. So yeah, so I steal this fucking rattlesnake tail. Well, after recess, we all get back settled into our classroom and get ready for show and tell to

The Desk Search And The Lie

SPEAKER_00

begin. Well, out of my peripheral, because Ryan's desk was like two rows down from me, I see him kind of looking in his desk everywhere, panicking, pure panic. And I'm trying not to, you know, make like eye contact, because I know what he's fucking looking for, and I know he ain't gonna find it. So as he, you know, basically gets more and more, you know, he's throwing crap out of his desk, looking for everything. The teacher, you know, goes up, you know, what's wrong, Ryan? What are you doing? And you know, he explains, my rattlesnake tail is gone for show and tell. Someone stole it. So I know that this fucking rattlesnake tail is in my desk. Right? So the teacher knows that one of us stole it. So teacher's like, okay, guys, I want everybody to open up their desks. We're gonna look for Ryan's rattlesnake tail in case it accidentally got put in someone's desk. Well, I'm freaking out, you know, I'm like, oh fuck me, right? Because it's like, I know it's in the top left corner of my desk underneath some fucking books, and I'm I'm sweating. I'm sweating, right? Because teachers kind of going around looking, you know, just taking a walk and looking inside people's desks. And for some reason, the teacher just kind of looks right at me and says, Chris, do you know where this where his snaketail might be? No, no, look. And I open, you know, my desk go. I'm like, look, no, I don't have it, right? So I'm like pushing stuff around my desk to show, hey, it's not in here, right? And uh luckily, whoo, I passed. And she walked by, and basically that was the end of it.

Winning Briefly Then Losing Anyway

SPEAKER_00

So I get up there, you know, I show my little fool's gold rock, knowing that that's probably gonna be the coolest shit. Because now there's not a fucking rattlesnake in the mix here, so I'm probably gonna get the coolest fucking show and tell. Well, I did not account for Amanda who brought a fucking chinchilla.

unknown

Fuck.

SPEAKER_00

So her mom shows up with this chinchilla, and I'm just like, fuck me. I went I fucking stole a rattlesnake tail for fucking nothing. And yeah, that chinchilla was pretty fucking cool

Keeping The Trophy And No Regret

SPEAKER_00

though. So that day after school, you know, I'm like, when everyone's not looking, I kinda like take the rattlesnake tail because it's in this little white soapbox, and you know, I kinda stuff it in the very bottom of my backpack, and I go home and I take that rattlesnake out. That's rattlesnake tail, and I'm just so fucking proud of myself. And I was like, fuck you, Ryan.

unknown

Fuck you.

SPEAKER_00

And I put that rattlesnake tail up on my dresser where I could look at it every fucking morning. And uh, yeah, so I told my you know, I told my family that that uh story, and the kids, you know, kind of laugh, and I'm like, but you guys, I felt bad after. Like I felt bad.

unknown

But I didn't feel bad.

From Kid Theft To Addiction Lying

SPEAKER_00

So yeah, I guess uh this kind of leads into did you find or do you find that you know with with addiction, when you're drinking, you know, doing drugs, whatever the case may be, do you find that you you know you were lying a lot, maybe even stealing and shit, and justifying that, uh, whatever, you know, it's not hurting anyone. Fuck it. Because I found that during my drinking and stuff, you know, it like it's so easy to lie, especially if it's to you know make people get off your back about your drinking and stuff. So that's my story. It's not good to steal, it ain't good to lie. But like I tell my kids, do as I say, not as I do. Anyways, happy Friday, everyone. That's my pure chaos story for today. Hope you have a great weekend.
