Hi. Welcome to On Sunday's Week a Formula One podcast. I'm Rachel.
SPEAKER_00I'm Lexi. And we don't have a metronome this time.
SPEAKER_01Not a metronome this time to throw us off. We're so, yeah. We're trying some new software. We've got a new not that everyone needs to know.
SPEAKER_00No, but everyone needs to know because this was a big part of my last three weeks of my life. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01We Lexi's really done the Lord's work.
SPEAKER_00And well, we'll see. To be determined. So far, so good.
SPEAKER_01So far, so good. Yeah. What a journey this has been.
SPEAKER_00We are still audio only, but I do want everyone to know that obviously we'll tell you what we're wearing because we have to, but we are not sharing one mic.
SPEAKER_01No, finally two different mics. But we're excited. We're excited to be here. It was so nice yesterday in Minnesota, and now it is dreary. So it's a perfect day to spend all of our time recording podcasting.
SPEAKER_00It's also a perfect day to wear sweatshirts, which we have on. Rachel, tell us about your sweatshirt.
SPEAKER_01Yes. I actually we haven't talked about this in an episode now that I'm thinking about it. But yeah, I am wearing my Lando Norris uh number one championship hoodie, which was an ordeal to get. It was stopped at stopped at customs because it came from the UK. We thought there was some scamming involved. There wasn't.
SPEAKER_00We have the sweatshirt.
SPEAKER_01It is on my body. Um, it's on my body. And also, yeah, I ordered one and my mom apparently ordered me one for did hers get soft? Christmas. Um, no, it did not.
SPEAKER_00So I don't know. Susan's got that magic touch, I guess. I guess. It's a very cool sweatshirt. I love it.
SPEAKER_01Shout out.
SPEAKER_00It's like shiny.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But like cozy. Number one. Yeah. It's no, it's great. I'm loving it so far. Again, loving it so far. Don't know if it is quite the quality of the Enchante merch, which Lex is wearing today.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes, yes. I have my favorite Enchante sweatshirt on, uh, the purple Lucky Three. Um, which fun fact, I'm now discovering that apparently there's like a there's like a hype that three is now a cursed number in F1. And also maybe NASCAR. You know what I mean?
SPEAKER_01Well, yeah, because Daniel Ricardo, now Max Verstappen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, and the first well, what did I just say? The first three races that Daniel did in F1 with the number three. He disqualified one, DNF'd, and then I don't remember what he did for the third one, but then Max, who not all three were F1, but he did the GT3. He DNF'd and then he disqualified for GT3, which is devastating, honestly.
SPEAKER_01I I am sure that fury is really gonna fuel his next couple of races, which I am ready for.
SPEAKER_00I am too. It's fueling me. Um, so I am feeling for me. The rage. The rage. Yeah. Anyway, but yes, we are recording this. Uh has it been a week?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Again, you guys were behind. I think we will be caught up by next week. But as of right now, we are recording the Chinese, our Chinese Grand Prix recap episode a week after the Chinese Grand Prix has happened. Yes. Um, again, which is fine. It's fine. Tech issues, life has been wild in 2026. Yeah. So again, we're just excited to be here. We will continue to cut going forward. I think after this, we will be caught up and on time going forward.
SPEAKER_00I don't want to make too hard of promises because that's not the vibe of this at the moment, but we will be more consistent and hopefully figure out our tech stuff. But anyway, some things to talk about.
SPEAKER_01Yes. So some of the the F1 Goss uh F1 news will be relevant, not necessarily to the China. Like some of it came out after.
SPEAKER_00There's no breaking news here. Yeah. But we're recapping the news. Yeah. And speaking of recapping, I had some research questions. Okay, yes. Lex, yeah. I I have a lot of questions always. Um, let's just get that out there. But I did have some questions that we were like, hey, let's look into. So just to recap some of those, and these might bring up other questions, and that's okay. Um, we were asking about just what is the deal with are you a c are you a works team or are you a customer team? What does that mean for you? So a very general overview of things that I learned. And this is probably a lot of recap here, but if you're new like I am, this was helpful to me.
SPEAKER_01I think still helpful for me too. Like some good reminders. And again, I'm not an expert by any means, but no, I still think this was good.
SPEAKER_00Rachel is a good person to uh me to be like, you know, what's what's happening with this? And she at least knows how to point me in the right direction, which is really appreciated, or she knows it, which is nice. One or the other. Yeah, one or the other. One or the other about both. Um, so okay, works team means that they are building and designing their own engine. For instance, Ferrari, Ferrari is a works team, Mercedes, Mercedes is also a works team. Um, they basically get to build their power unit, cooling all of these things with their chassis, which is another function. Chassis. We had to look that up.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to Julian on YouTube.
SPEAKER_00Julian and his pronunciation really helped us out there as in me.
SPEAKER_01Well, you hear it all the time on the broadcasts and podcasts. Oh, that's funny. Broadcast and podcasts. But for some reason, I couldn't even remember. It doesn't sound like you were saying it correctly, but I also couldn't remember how to pronounce it. So Julian helped us out. Thank you, Julian. Uh, great YouTube channel.
SPEAKER_00Um, but it doesn't, it it does and it doesn't give them an upper hand. It does because they're obviously building all the things for their specific chassis, their car. Um, but they can't do it in like a secret way. So whatever they're building, the other teams that are buying their power units and other accoutrements have to get the same things. And then a customer team, they're buying specific engines. For instance, Aston Martin is using Honda right now in 2026. Yes, Ian McLaren, Mercedes.
SPEAKER_01Well, no, I think Aston Martin might now be a works team because they're partnering with Honda.
SPEAKER_00Oh, we did look it up. It is considered a works team before they were using Mercedes, right? In 2025, Aston Martin was using Mercedes, yes. And now they are partnering with Honda, and because Honda is not a team, then they are considered a works team.
SPEAKER_01Because all this sparked from because then we were talking about Red Bull. Red Bull, yeah, the Honda of it all. Yes, because Red Bull was obviously using Honda last year. The Max Verstappen of it all, I don't know.
SPEAKER_00The Max Verstappen of it all.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, so it turned we we did some digging because I was like, well, it's not necessarily obviously Red Bull is not it's a energy drink. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Not a car company, but so I guess in partnership with Ford, the Red Bull Ford Power Trains is in fact no, so now Red Bull is considered a work team, which makes me assume that then Aston Martin is also Yeah, yeah, but I we can we can um if you basically go to a manufacturer and you're like, hey, I would like your engine, they can't say no, they have to do it, which you know that's fine.
SPEAKER_00But I thought that was interesting. Rachel did find some info.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, you guys just I'm solo, we're solo dog parenting over here. My husband's on a work trip and our doors are not stable, so the dogs just busted in. We might need to get them out of here. They're like just getting all up in the cords. Okay, they left on their own accord. It's fine. Yeah, they're fine. They're they're good dogs, but can confirm can confirm that Aston Martin is considered a works team. Okay, great. Thank you for that. You're welcome.
SPEAKER_00Um, other thing to note customer teams have to have the same hardware, which I think I might have said something similar, but just I we were talking about, and they've been talking about on the broadcast, how the that so for McLaren has a Mercedes engine, but they did not get the actual true form of the engine until the first race, which again is so fascinating to me.
SPEAKER_01And while Mercedes isn't like obviously keeping any information from them or but they kind of are. Well, but that's what's so interesting, is I guess they are. But we but in your research, which again this makes so much sense, discovered that, yeah, like of course, Mercedes, because they're using Mercedes engine, and they have developed their specific car around the specific engine, like that makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Not only the car like the engine, but it's the all the things, the chassis, the the chassis, the gearbox, suspension, hydraulic. So everything is gonna work super well together, yes, which it obviously is.
SPEAKER_01Whereas, so just because maybe McLaren and Alpine and Williams aren't having the best of luck with the Mercedes engine, I guess that doesn't mean that the Mercedes engine is bad. It just means that everything working together is not computing weeks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And I think it'll be really interesting to see Japan and how that shakes out. But but also on that note, what's killing me about Red Bull, and I guess you could argue it's really just Max because Isaac is you know running into things. It's not really necessarily his engine. But if they design if they partnered with Honda to design their power unit with the chassis, why are we not what what is what's happening? You know what I mean? I just think we should be Merceding and we are not.
SPEAKER_01We should be Merceding and we are not. Well, I think Ford hasn't. We're talking, do you yeah, right? Oh, yeah. No, well, because again, like but asked Martin. So I think you would think that Honda just being in F1 would recently with Ford would have it all figured out, but again, it's like new regulations, right? So I'm guessing that's the whole I don't know.
SPEAKER_00We'll see. I'm trying not to be too crazy about it.
SPEAKER_01But again, like I think what season was it? 2024, where McLaren was horrible and then all of a sudden started getting good. Yeah. So And it's only two races in. Only two races in. Yeah. Also with the cancellation of um the two grandpa.
SPEAKER_00They're gonna have plenty of time, right?
SPEAKER_01I wonder if there's gonna be any rules about what you can and can't do there, but probably not. Probably. I think it's just like you get extra time to work on your car.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, honestly, there's probably gonna be some like drama that we'll hear about about like so-and-so did this, kind of like the Mercedes engine situation. But does it happen?
SPEAKER_01But does that set them back because they're not actually testing the cars on a track? Do you know what I'm trying to say? I don't know. Like I get what you're saying, because like then they don't see it out on track and they can't adjust it based off what happens on track, but like maybe they could see they just have all the sims and yeah, computer wind tunnel.
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Guess we'll find out. Guess we'll find out. Um, anywho, that was a deep dive. I don't know. Was there anything else?
SPEAKER_00The only thing now that I'm looking at my notes, so why would because you might be thinking, because I was, why would you not just build your own engine? Well, the reason a lot of teams do just, you know, buy an existing engine, it is billions of dollars of research and development. Billions. Not to mention actually building it. Yeah. So from a cost perspective, it does make sense to go with someone who knows kind of what they're doing.
SPEAKER_01Well, even like a smaller team like Haas probably doesn't have like you're you want to put all your resources into making the car. I have so many notes. They're like crippling notes.
SPEAKER_00As I said, Rachel is a note taker and she's reading my notes. I'm just probably freaking at her out because it's like, it's like dot billions in R and D. No, this is your segment, which I'm I'm loving and living. Okay, um, on to the next point. We were asking questions about the front wing. What's different? Why did McLaren use duct tape? What's happening? Well, it is much more simple. It is active and movable, which is really interesting because the 2025 front wing, uh, the ground effect front wing was three to four complex elements, but it was fixed. So this one, two simpler elements. I don't think I actually got an actual number of how many elements it is. It just kept saying less elements. Oh. Um, but active and movable, so that's interesting. Obviously, it's narrower.
SPEAKER_01The active and movable for me is the most, and again, that's like visually what you're saying, right?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_01That is like for the front wing specifically. Yes. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Now, now why you can just use duct tape, I think is hilarious.
SPEAKER_01We will have to circle back. Yeah. Duct tape fixes duct tape, does fix everything. We love some duct tape.
SPEAKER_00Next question: quality timing. Why do we have an extra minute in Q3? What's the deal? The breakdown is basically exactly what we thought that there's more cars. But I did not realize that the break before Q3, so the Q2 to Q3 dropped a minute, and then they added a minute to Q3, which was yes, it's the same amount of 10 cars, but for whatever reason, I guess they were finding that they were not getting to do an entire uh flying lap, so they added that extra minute. So that's the deal for that. Pretty simple.
SPEAKER_01That makes sense. More cars on track might be getting like a little uh traffic. Well, extra traffic. A little extra traffic.
SPEAKER_00Okay, we're back. We're back. All right, uh, last little bit of research uh that I had questions about. Well, we both did because we don't know anything about these batteries. Yeah, I think we're all learning about the battery charge. Yes. So some Rachel had pointed out that some drivers were saying that they had zero charge. Which do you remember which Mercedes for sure?
SPEAKER_01It was George and Kimmy for sure, because George was talking in the cooldown room. The Merc uh Death Machines. The Merc Death Machines, but yeah, apparently they didn't have any charge, and Ferraris just rocket ships right off the start. So that combo, I think George was yeah, commenting. Yeah, yeah, trying to tell those.
SPEAKER_00It is perfectly legal to have a 0% battery charge strategy. A battery charge.
SPEAKER_01Well, that's what I I had no idea that that could be a strategy. Yeah, it didn't sound purposeful, but yeah, but it could have been.
SPEAKER_00And with the with Toto Wolf and Company, I wouldn't be surprised if they had something up their sleeve like this. But basically the idea is that they are a little bit slower at first, still faster than Red Bull, um, but they charge within the first few corners.
SPEAKER_01Again, makes sense, but I just think it's so interesting that you wouldn't want but maybe they knew that Ferrari was going to off the line, like go fast anyway. So they're like, why don't we just save the battery and then and then get them catch them later? Which they did. They have in literally both races.
SPEAKER_00Right. So, right. And like I said, with with Wolf and Company, I wouldn't be surprised they were being strategic.
SPEAKER_01With Wolf and Company. Oh my god, it just dawned on me that well, we'll talk about it later.
SPEAKER_00But the wolf, yes, that's why when I said it and you like you kind of were just like, okay, I was like, that went right over me. I thought that was cool, but that is cool. Dang. Yeah, that makes sense. Um, do you wanna talk about some little news?
SPEAKER_01Let's go to F1 news. So, one of our segments every week. We gotta keep up on what's happening in the F1 world. We're also gonna have a uh F1 like hot gosh section. So we're we're kind of complex deciding what goes into what? We just have a lot to yap about when it comes to the next one. So much to yap about. Um, but yeah, I think big news over the last week was that Adrian Newey is now no longer the team principal at Aston Martin, which makes so much sense. That is too too much to be the one of the roles is enough. Yeah, he needs to develop that car. Clearly, he needs to develop that car so that Alonzo doesn't need to take his hands off the steering wheel and drive with no hands and shake them.
SPEAKER_00Yes, because he's getting nerve damage. Insane. Or like, let's not retire and unretire the car 85 times.
SPEAKER_01A million and one times. But yeah. I again, that makes so much sense. It was temporary in the first place, but I just I do find that interesting that it has only happened after two races. And then unrelated, but related maybe is that Jonathan Wheatley is no longer the team principal of Audi.
SPEAKER_00And not even Audi.
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_01Here we go again. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00Uh anyway, yeah, he's he's gone gone from right, he's gone from the team.
SPEAKER_01He is gone from the team. I think they said for personal reasons. People have been speculating because he had to move, he's got a young family, and they're in Switzerland.
SPEAKER_00Right, and he and they were saying he would much rather come to like a UK, yeah, a UK team, which most of the teams are based in the UK, right? So it seems we'll see.
SPEAKER_01But we don't know. There are rumors flying around that he was gonna go to Aston Martin because again, Adrian Newey and Jonathan Wheatley both once worked at Red Bull together.
SPEAKER_00Yes, and that would potentially be really good.
SPEAKER_01Little dream team action, gang back together.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I so yeah, I don't know. We keep seeing nothing seems to be it's all fake news, it's driving me crazy. Nothing seems to be like fully confirmed, but I mean when I saw Adrian Newey was no longer the team principal, I literally sent it to you and was like fake news question mark. Uh but again, that because I constantly see Lance Strolls no longer driving and it's fake news, yes.
SPEAKER_01Girl can dream. I know.
SPEAKER_00Um just come on, Colton.
SPEAKER_01Sorry, Lance Stroll. Um, but yeah, so anyway, that'll make sense. That feels good. Uh we just don't know what's happening with Jonathan Wheatley and where he is going. Because even if he was going to go to a new F1 team, sometimes there's that like gardening leaf that you have to like not be working. Which again, I don't want to spill the secret sauce.
SPEAKER_00And I wonder if we'll find a new thing. Not that there's secret sauce. Actually, Audi might have some secret sauce. Oh, I bet I I I mean, you know, I love their livery, so I'm hoping there's a secret sauce here.
SPEAKER_01I don't know why it says secret sauce. But um, but Mattia Bonotto is now gonna be the team principal of Audi, which that's exciting. Very exciting. I actually character, yes, great character from his Ferrari principal, team principal days. I my parents actually are probably gonna be thrilled. I don't know if they know that news yet. They love him.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I can't wait to hear what Susan has to say about that.
SPEAKER_01I just didn't get a reaction from post-Japanese Grand Prix, but yeah, I'm sure she'll be excited.
SPEAKER_00No, that'll be good. They love him. Um, also, we didn't have a race this weekend, but we did have a race this weekend that was exciting and heartbreaking. I didn't watch all four hours of it. I just like GT3. Yeah, the GT3 Verstappen racing or whatever is Max cannot take a weekend off. No, no, absolutely not. What's he gonna do in April? Probably leave one or something. Sim racing. Yeah. Rachel and I need to get good at sim racing so we can play him. That's a whole other maybe segment we will do. Rachel does physically have a sim racer.
SPEAKER_01My my husband, yes.
SPEAKER_00We don't know how to work it. No, as we said earlier, we're not good with deck.
SPEAKER_01No. But I I have it I think it'll be fun because then we can get some more intel on the tracks.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah. So uh anyway, but yeah, Max Max dominated um the video of him like zipping around through the two cars. Oh insane. Right. He is so good, like the GOAT a thousand percent.
SPEAKER_01And I just feel like the GT3 cars would be absolute like if you crash, I don't know. Again, I don't know. But that seems even more terrifying, and I know that's like um, you know, yeah, fully enclosed. Yeah, no, compared to an F1 car, but the terrifying is horrifying.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then they get disqualified because they use seven sets of tires instead of six. Which how does that happen? What dummy said, Yeah, let's put another set of tires on.
SPEAKER_01I just don't know how that happens. Like, how do you not have meticulous notes and tracking systems?
SPEAKER_00I just want to know what Yoss said. You know Yoss like freaked out.
SPEAKER_01Probably stabbed someone's hand with a fork. Yeah, I mean, who knows?
SPEAKER_00He probably left Max at a gas station.
SPEAKER_01Probably both. That wasn't his fault, though. So I'm doubting doubt Max got left at a gas station.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Who knows? Who knows? Anyway, but that's that's the update for that. And then um, do you want to talk about the Haas livery? Did you see it? Oh, I did. Yeah, it's sick, super sick. Actually, V Carb also has cool ones, too. I should have put that down as also. I you know what? Maybe I actually didn't see the Haas one. I think I just saw the V Carb. The Haas one is really it's so it's Haas and Godzilla. No, I did see that because it had the claw marks on it, didn't it? Okay, and then V Carb has the cherry blossoms, which is also very cool. And V Carb does have neat liveries. This makes me think of Yuki, which you don't care.
SPEAKER_01Um I do.
SPEAKER_00I hope Yuki. I mean, he is still driving.
SPEAKER_01He's still around, yeah. Yeah, he's reserved fine, I'm sure. But yeah, so I that exciting that we're already getting some alternative liveries. Literally week three. Why not? Week three, um, race three. Okay, any other any other news? I don't think I think that's it. I think we decided, well, I think we decided hot goss, which we will save for later. Yeah, you gotta wait till the end for the hot goss. Or if you want to clock out, whatever. True. Yeah, if you don't want to listen to the hot goss, we understand.
SPEAKER_00Since I think our only listeners are my sister and your mom, I think they'll stay for the hot goss. Right. Yeah. So anyway, our two listeners. You want to stay for the hot goss? Uh, okay. So we had a sprint. We had a sprint. And I did not watch sprint quality.
SPEAKER_01I did. I can go over, again, my extensive notes. I feel like free practice, there really wasn't, I mean, there was some contact between some cars, like Lewis was off the track. Lynblad had an issue with some smoke that did not look good. I think the main call out that ever the word on the street everyone was talking about was the Macarena wing, as they call it at Ferrari. Have you heard that term? No. Oh my god. So their wing that fully flips upside down. Oh, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. Yes. The Macarena wing was out for free practice and then was not to be seen in the race.
SPEAKER_00I don't remember seeing that in sprint or in display.
SPEAKER_01They didn't use it, and that doesn't mean that they're not gonna use it again. I think they were just it's it's practice. They were testing it out. But I did think it was interesting that you're going right into a sprint race using something different, but I guess they used the what they did in the Grand Prix in the Australian Grand Prix, too. Yeah. So I think that was truly like the only call out. Yeah, because I think, yeah, Ollie spun out. I don't other than that, they're really Perez was last. That's not new news.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, that's I think I mean they're just happy to be there. They're just happy to be there, which is fine.
SPEAKER_01Um, sprint qualifying, again, we've already talked about like the new qualifying rules, regulations, timings, six, getting eliminated.
SPEAKER_00We have a better understanding of it now. Yes.
SPEAKER_01I think hopefully everyone else does too. Again, it doesn't seem like it's that complicated or changed that much. The only thing that I noted on here, I was watching it on F1 TV, and sometimes I'll switch to international, which is Sky Sports, but I was watching it on the just standard F1 TV. And I don't know if anyone listens to the Fast and the Curious podcast. I really like them.
SPEAKER_00I don't think I've ever listened to them. So fun. I'll put them on my list.
SPEAKER_01Greg James from BBC Rate One Radio is just incredible. May or may not have a crush on him, but all that to say, you heard it here first. You heard it here first. Um, one of the hosts, Betty, is actually now working for F1 TV.
SPEAKER_00That's her. Cute. I saw they made a big deal about Betty.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I didn't put two and two together. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So that's this was, I think, her second weekend doing it. I think she also did the Australian Grand Prix, but I was just so pumped for her.
SPEAKER_00I mean, that's incredible. No, so exciting. Big, big glow-up from uh our NASCAR friend of blinking.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Danica Patrick. Yes, a little bit we don't need to talk about her. Anyway, moving on. Moving on, moving on. Um, but yeah, so sprint qualifying, um, and the sprint, so sprint qualifying, but during the sprint, they're doing 19 laps, a third of the racetrack. Um, and there were so many Lewis fans. So many Lewis fans. So many Lewis fans.
SPEAKER_00And wasn't it Lewis and Carlos had fans beside each other?
SPEAKER_01Did they?
SPEAKER_00I think in the I think in the grandstands. Oh, that's kind of funny. Carlos is 53, right?
SPEAKER_01I actually let me look. 55. He's 55. Who's 53? I don't know. Real-time research. Yeah. Well, Lexi looks that up, I can keep going, not that there's too much. But again, yeah, Ferrari just said that the Macarena wing wasn't reliable enough for the actual sprint race and race. Um, Max was slower than Isaac for like a good chunk of the qualifying session, which I thought was interesting, but maybe it was a little bit of foreshadowing as to what happened. Okay, there is no 53.
SPEAKER_00I'm just crazy. Oh, it must have been 55.
SPEAKER_01Well, the 55 kind of does look like a 53 in his logo. It kind of like all like goes. I think I just can't remember numbers. It's fine. George is 63.
SPEAKER_00I don't remember that page. Anyway, we can move on. It's not important.
SPEAKER_01Moving on. Uh, but yeah, I think other than that, I mean Holkenberg was second at one point with six minutes left, I feel like, of the first session. Um, but yeah, there was just like a lot of back and forth. Lance Lance roll deleted for track limits at turn nine. Uh but track was, I mean, as it usually does, was really evolving. Everyone was changing places quite quickly. And it w I whatever I was watching, the cat the cars seemed so much louder than the commentary. Like, I had such a hard time.
SPEAKER_00This was on F1 TV?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Such a hard time hearing. Anyway, yeah. Um, my husband already gets annoyed at me because I crank the volume up on our television. As you should. And I was it was up even more.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you guys have like the full experience down there.
SPEAKER_01We really do. Yeah, got a good setup. But yeah, eliminated after Q1. Signs was in 17th, Albon, 18th, Alonzo, 19th, 20, Stroll, 21st Botos. Perez did not set a time. So literally, none of that is surprising. Yeah. Unfortunately, Williams.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We're talking sprint quality still, right?
SPEAKER_01Yes, we're talking sprint quality. So sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, no, you're good. It was very similar to no.
SPEAKER_01I think no, I think it's doing this a week later. Yeah, I can't remember anything. And with everything being similar right now, because we're everyone's Cadillac and Aston Martin or lots of newness. Yeah. But I think another like Max called the drive ability horrendous, which I thought was He is mad. He's fear and again, I I'm a little scared. Maxilla going into Japan.
SPEAKER_00Maxilla going into Japan. I need a Maxilla to come on out.
SPEAKER_01Maybe that me again. Maybe that means he's really gonna turn it up a nice. Or he's just not gonna care and quit. That's like my fear. I don't think he's not gonna quit midseason. It's too soon to tell. I'm sure he's gonna be able to do that. Maybe I have too much. I don't know. We'll see. Um, I don't really think so early to tell. So early. Um really nothing to note, I feel like, in this one. Just the funny thing that I realized I typed in here, because I'm typing on my notes app on my phone, is first happen had I don't know what it was, but I have with cats still running. With but it's supposed to be cars. Love it. Max is a cat man, so relevant. Um, Max went off in the final corner, is pretty much what I have to note. And then elimination zone was Hulkenberg, Okan, Lawson, Bordoletto, Lynn Blad, and Cole Pinto. Again, I feel like no one crazy getting eliminated. All of that. I mean, yeah, all of that is pretty expected. Um, they did look at for qualifying SQ3 um Ghastly, I think, impeding Verstappen and Antonelli. Antonelli for Norris.
SPEAKER_00That one was actually I did see highlights of that. Whatever happened with that, they didn't give him a penalty, did they?
SPEAKER_01They didn't, and they absolutely should have. And I'm not just saying that because Rachel is a Kimmy hater. I'm and not a Kimmy hater. And I do love Lando Norris. I say this fully unbiased, and they were saying that too.
SPEAKER_00No, it did, it did look like I'm surprised nothing happened.
SPEAKER_01Normally, that could be like a three to five place grid penalty, I think is like what they were.
SPEAKER_00It is interesting to see what they do and do not put penalties on.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Well, and again, that's why they always have the conversation about that the stewards they just need consistency amongst who's in that role. And then I do again, like we said last time, we'll give them a break. It's new regs, like, but I still think I'm like, I don't that's not something new that we're dealing with. Yeah, no. It's fine, you know what? It didn't matter anyway. It didn't matter anyway, it didn't matter anyway. Because the McLaren didn't start the race, but oh, okay, and we're back, and we're back. Um, really, only other thing, I mean, just qualifying sprint qualifying order. Russell, Antonelli, Norris, Hamilton, Piastri, LeClaire, Gasly, Verstappen, Bearman, and Hajar taking the 10th and final spot in SQ3. Sprint. Sprint.
SPEAKER_00Great. This is exciting, I if I remember right. I didn't write that down, but I think I remember it was an exciting sprint.
SPEAKER_01You know what? It was probably one of the most exciting sprints. Oh, it just starts. Great. Hi, welcome back. We're back.
SPEAKER_00Um, we were talking about we were talking about sprint starting and think that it was exciting. It was exciting. Oh, it was. It was, yes. Yes, yes. We got uh the Duchess on pole, Kimmy, P2. Yep. Uh Max was P8, uh, which I obviously was, you know, obsessed. Frustrated. Lando P3. Lucky number three. Yes, or unlucky number three. God, yeah, prick. Lucky, unlucky number three. Oh man. Okay, yeah. Um, Antonelli had a horrible start. Max also had a horrible start again. Like Max has not had any good starts. And when I say horrible start, I just mean it was like sluggish, not like the you know, Ferrari rocket ship situation.
SPEAKER_01Um, I have that. Most everyone was on medium tires, and then Isaac was on the soft tire, literally the only person on a soft tire, and then I think Carlos Fernando and someone else were on hard tires. Yeah. And literally Kimmy went from second to seventh. So again, horrible start. Horrible start. And I just have the start for Hamilton and like all caps rocketed. Yeah. Um, but yeah, I think Arvid spun. There was some contact that Kimmy made, I think, with maybe Hajar. And then, yeah, literally George and Hamilton just kept swapping it up like the entire time. And George was also at a zero battery at one point, too, after I think trying to defend himself from Leclair. And then yeah, Max dropped seventh to four or eighth to fourteen. Yeah, it was bad.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was bad. Um, and then I don't remember when when did the when did the safety car happen?
SPEAKER_01The safety car was I think at 13. Oh, that's where Valtry something happened with Valtry and Valtry, yes. Yep, both of them I think had issues at 13. So yeah, there was a safety car.
SPEAKER_00Um and Kimmy had had a penalty.
SPEAKER_01So what did he have a penalty for?
SPEAKER_00I'm trying to remember. Hold on.
SPEAKER_01I swear he didn't get the one for Lando, and that's why people were frustrated, right? We're looking it up.
SPEAKER_00I don't know. Well, I'll I'll report back. Uh in incident. Yeah, with Isaac. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Again, didn't get the one for Lando, had an incident. Okay. Yes. With Isaac. That makes sense.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, Lulu's mom was there. Oh, because it was on Mother's Day in the UK.
SPEAKER_01That's very cute. Shout out to all the moms in the UK.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, um, I have uh well, let me see, what else did I um oh yes, when the safety car came out, almost everyone went in except for Liam and Ollie. I had that as a note, and then I also had that it was very fun to see Lewis race, which I think I said a little bit about this last time, but being new to watching the races live, and he was so bad last season that it's like still really interesting for me to be like, oh yeah, he's uh that is why he's won so many World Drivers Championships.
SPEAKER_01Both of us, specifically you and your experience, but yeah, I don't I've you have I've seen him in his heyday. I think I've seen him in on like some podiums, maybe a couple wins, but we always as well with the sprint, yes. Well, and we did, yeah, you're right. China last year. He won he won the sprint. But yeah, you're right. You're like, what's all this hype about? Yeah, I'm like, what is going on with Lewis? And then you know it's Lewis.
SPEAKER_00Why is he I also noted that Max went on softs and went from P nine P14 to P9, um, which is great, but also geez.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I have at um yeah, no, again, like overall, I feel like I don't have too many notes with this either. Because it was only 19 laps. But yeah, again, I I feel like a really good, fun race.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it was all very close.
SPEAKER_01Very close. No, it was very close. Um it was Russell, Leclerc, Hamilton, Norris, Antonelli, Piastri, Lawson, Bearman, first tap, and then Ocon rounding out the top 10. And then we had um Arvid Baltry and Hulkenberg are out. Um Perez and Strolly Perez, Strolly Stroll.
SPEAKER_00Stroll and Perez and 18th and 19th. But yeah, the Duchess, um, you know, MP1, riding high. Really killing it. Yeah, really killing it.
SPEAKER_01Um, I just thought it was nice that um, or no. No, this is not when he said that the fighting was fun. Charles said that the fighting there was more than what he had hoped, which I thought was kind of shady.
SPEAKER_00I think they thought they were just gonna rocket ship themselves to the wind.
SPEAKER_01And I do think that they're gonna need to be careful about it, and we've talked about this in our last episode, but they're gonna need to be careful like fighting each other, because then that's when other people are gonna catch up. Yeah, exactly. Red rules. I'm coining that instead of scarlet rules instead of papaya rules. Um I just have oh, it's they also said since it's been since 2024, since um Ferrari had two cars in the top three, which I thought was interesting. That is interesting, and then George and his little tiny headband again.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes, his little headband. We love the headband.
SPEAKER_01Um, but I it was kind of fun because people I feel like normally are so like the sprint, and by people I mean the drivers.
SPEAKER_00No, but the the sprint was great. I'm excited. The next one's Miami, right?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yes, Miami, but I think they all seem to have a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, agreed.
SPEAKER_01Maybe not as much fun as the Lego lace Lego lace, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00The like the Lego driver break, but which was my favorite uh drive to survive episode when they should have you gotten their yes, yeah, it's so good.
SPEAKER_01Incredible drive to survive recap event maybe at some point.
SPEAKER_00Maybe you're not gonna be able to get in April, we're gonna have to come up with content in April. Okay, wanna move on to quality. Quali. All right, yes. So Q1, Cadillac, Williams, and Aston Martin are out. Yep. Um I I think that's really like was this.
SPEAKER_01I I just have um, I think there was a Flavio siding.
SPEAKER_00There was, oh, there was for quality. Oh, yeah. Oh no, yes, in Q3. I'm jumping the gun. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Uh yeah, don't worry. I'll get down the code. Okay, okay, okay. Well that were also like in here. I didn't have many notes.
SPEAKER_01I I just have I've never seen the principal of Cadillac or heard the name. It was spelled G-R-E. Oh, Graham. Why did that look so weird? It's spelled G-R-A-E-M-E. Graham. Graham M-A.
SPEAKER_00That's what I was gonna let you pronounce it.
SPEAKER_01It's like Hermione and Hermoy. Chassis, chassis. What I don't even know what you called it now.
SPEAKER_00I think I said chassis. Yes, like Egyptian god chastity. I don't know. That's what it makes me think of. Anyway, yes, Graham. Um, they did show some some principles.
SPEAKER_01I and I did not, I've never heard his name before. So yeah. Um, first tapen I had was number one at 12 minutes 15 seconds. Yep. Um, and other than that, Hulk was second at one point, Bordoletto was third, Hamilton had like slipped but recovered.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they were all over the place.
SPEAKER_01Kimmy, oh, he went out at like nine minutes and thirty seconds. Yeah, the merchant.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, they waited. They did what Red Bull usually does.
SPEAKER_01Red Bull was like, no get him out as soon as possible. Hold him out. Um, yeah, other than that, again, like I Hajar did a little bit better than Verstappen, I feel like at one point, which was interesting. Um Max I said Max's car, and I don't know how valid this is. Uh, but Max's car seemed to make a like different sound. Um probably did. I don't know. So then I'm like, maybe maybe it actually did based off all the issues that they're so happy.
SPEAKER_00We had uh Valkyrie and Checo, we had um Carlos and Alex, and then we had Stroll and uh Fernando in Q1.
SPEAKER_01Yep, Q2. Oh, the only other thing that I have, um, and I'm like, I I don't know if you're gonna be able to play it. I did take a video of Alex after Oh yes, I have this as a note too. I don't know if you can hear that or not.
SPEAKER_00Terrible, incredible. Oh, thank God. Yeah, poor Alex. Poor Alex. I really I don't know, we'll see. I was hoping well, it's only been two races. It's fine. It's only been two races. Okay, Maxi up to P4, thank goodness. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01At some point. Aaron Q2. Q2 again. I oh we could go. So nothing that I'm my notes don't make sense after a week. But um I have that. George said his front wing might have been damaged, so they replaced it. Um Antonelli was number one at one point. I think Gasly was fifth at one point. Yeah, Norris took over.
SPEAKER_00Bordoletto ended up in the gravel at the end of Q2.
SPEAKER_01Okay, yes. I said Gabby has huge slide. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So again, some interesting things happening. But so Hulk was in 11th, eliminated, Cole Pinto, Ocon, Lawson, Lynnblad, Esty Bestie, and Bordoletto. And I feel like Bordoletto was doing a little bit better than Hulk, but good to see Hulk back on back on top.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean, you know, it didn't last. It didn't last long. It didn't last long. And then it was uh at the end of Q2, Kimmy and P1, Charles and P2, Duchess and P3, Lulu P4, then Lando, Gasly, and Max, right? Yeah, yeah, okay, cool.
SPEAKER_01And then Oscar, Bearman, Hajar. Yeah. So yeah, again, one through four always seem to be some combo of Mercedes and Ferrari.
SPEAKER_00And then Q3, anything else for Q2?
SPEAKER_01No, I just have again Flavio in all cats.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yes. So, so here's here's Flavio was shown holding Franco's hand, patting him on the shoulder, and no smile. And then the DC, the um commentator. David Pulsard. Oh, he looks cuddly. That's incredible. Yes. So honestly, Franco's so close to getting into Q3.
SPEAKER_01I feel like a pat on the back from Flavio is like a full-on bear hug when he picks someone up.
SPEAKER_00Would die to know what he said to him.
SPEAKER_01We'll never know. We'll never know.
SPEAKER_00We'll never know. Um, okay, and then my first note, and I think this happened pretty early on in Q3, was that uh George Russell, the Duchess, stopped on the track.
SPEAKER_01Car stopped.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01He said he has no battery, but he got going again.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he got going. So um and Toto's face was funny. They showed they kept showing like all the principles, and because Toto had been so like smug every time they, you know, show him, I thought it was funny that he was like oh little facial facial reaction.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Um, again, like nothing really. I have Lando 2. I think that he must have been second at some point. At some point, yeah.
SPEAKER_00I mean, every again, everyone was everywhere. And I mean, ultimately it was exciting because Kimmy broke a record.
SPEAKER_01Yes, Antonelli, youngest pole sitter for a grand prix. Yeah, very exciting. I think Sebastian Vettel held that record previously. Yeah, I think you're right. So it's good. Shout out to Seb. Um, but way to go, Kimmy.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, John, John made a fun, fun uh comment that they're like the three-headed dragon meme, which is hilarious because I saw so many three-headed dragon memes. He meant Toto, George, and Kimmy. Do you know the one I'm talking about? I don't think it's a good one. Where it's like a scary dragon, but one of the faces is like silly, and that's Kimmy. Oh, yeah, that tracks. That totally tracks. Anyway, that's that was a funny John comment.
SPEAKER_01I think the only other thing that I had on here was George like also changed his steering wheel as a fail. Safe. I guess they have a spare for both drivers. Okay. That's fine. Which I didn't realize. Um, and there's liter I think it's like someone's job to make sure that all of the dials and everything are like correct and in the correct spot whenever they well now that we're now that we're tech girlies, we could have that job. Maybe Cadillac Tech girlies because I figured out my parents' TV yesterday. Yep. What else did I say? Oh, and the ring camera. The ring camera. Yeah, no, that's great. And then you and the audio box. Yeah. One day we'll be able to claim tech experts. Um, but yeah, we can just list the top 10. Um Antonelli, as we said. Kimmy, um, followed by George, the Duchess, Hamilton, LeClaire, again, top four, some combo of Mercedes Ferrari. Ugh, love to see it. Yes. Number five and six. Actually, don't love to see it. Pastri R I P. Piastri number five. Ugh, Nora Six.
SPEAKER_00It's funny without them having participated in the last two races, or well, I guess Oscar. I mean, Lana didn't participate in the first race. I just like don't even think about them much.
SPEAKER_01Which is sad. I missed them. No, I mean Mercedes and uh Ferrari dominating the good combos, and then Aston Martin, Red Bull dominating the bad combos. So yeah, we're not really hearing much about McLaren. Um and again, they didn't race. So um but seven, Ghastly, honestly, way to go. Way to go. Alpine. Flavio was pleased. He was pleased. Uh, eight, first app in, nine, Hajar, ten, bearman. Yes, Ollie. Ollie boy, yeah, slowly making his way. Rachel has a grid. Rachel happens in my heart.
SPEAKER_00Rachel has a thing where like she's not as big of a Kimmy fan as anyone else, which is insane to me. Um, and instead of talking, he she was like, there's just something. And I was like, is it his little choker? Is it the whale with a whale tail choker?
SPEAKER_01And the like shaka shaka.
SPEAKER_00I love the shaka, but I'm a you know, I'm a shaka.
SPEAKER_01I again every episode will say, don't dislike him, just not my favorite, but I'm not opposed to him working his way into your hugging my top five into my heart. Um ready to oh, oh, oh my god. Anything to tie this back to my favorite band slash, I guess you should. Oh my gosh! I see your um there was a video last year of Colapinto talking about mate. I guess it's huge in Argentina, it's like their drink of choice, kind of caffeinated. You have like a straw and like special mug, I think, that you use. But Joe, DJ O was in Argentina doing shows and he was walking around with mate, and that just made me think of that just made me think of Colopinto.
SPEAKER_00Mate like the green coffee? Yeah, okay, yes, yeah. No, and I was like, what is this? I would like it.
SPEAKER_01No, but a but a mate. Um, yeah. The tea or not a matcha? Not a matcha. Different. Okay, hang on. We're learning, we're learning and growing in real time. Um oh, it's Yerba mate. They just a traditional South American caffeine rich herbal tea made from I cannot pronounce that. Some sort of leaf, earthy, bitter, smoky flavor. Acts as a stimulant.
SPEAKER_00I mean, it used its scientifically correct uh genus, so I think we can skip that. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Oh god, that's why I was like, I'm not gonna read that.
SPEAKER_00I just want everyone to know Rachel's not just being like silly goofy.
SPEAKER_01We cannot pronounce, we can't pronounce chassis. I'm not gonna go.
SPEAKER_00We can't pronounce Graham, we can't pronounce chassis.
SPEAKER_01I mean, we're moving on.
SPEAKER_00Oh god.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, yeah, that was my fun little note. Okay, um to the race. On to the race. Um, I just have Oscar and Lando in garage and F-word with multiple U's and all caps. Yes. Um I think just one thing to make note of, which is so my my parents will get Apple TV, it sounds like. Um with the iPad. But we were watching this not in real time, and my mom was on my computer watching like she was on her FaceTime, and I had my FaceTime on the computer. And Susan was watching the race with me. I was sitting on the floor in front of our large television monitoring to make sure she could see via FaceTime. Best daughter awards. Yeah, yeah. So funny. That tech girly coming out again. If I was a tech girly, I could probably could have found an alternative way for her to view it.
SPEAKER_00I had a beer like 15 minutes into me watching this. I also did not watch this in real time. I think we woke up at like, I don't know, seven. I don't remember. Yeah, probably yeah. I didn't have a beer at seven.
SPEAKER_01It was more like 8.15 or 8.45. I'm sure I could go back to our techs and figure out.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but I was like, this is crazy.
SPEAKER_01Also you were a little ahead of me.
SPEAKER_00Also, we we should note we were supposed to watch the race in real time at a brewery, like during a watch party, and it snowed. Like, how much snow do we end up getting? I think a foot. Yeah, it was a lot of snow. It was a blizzard on this Sunday. They canceled the watch party, and then we were did not watch it together, which was sad. Yeah. And the reason why we were recording so much later. Um, but yeah, I did. I grabbed a beer because I was like, this has been crazy. No, I think that's fine. And also McLaren start my first note, complete chaos. Complete chaos because the race started, and thank goodness the the light guy at least gave us the appropriate amount of time. Oh, yes. I was like the light guy, the lighting guy. The light guy, the five-light guy. Yeah, the five-light guy. Yes, yes. He at least gave us that, but geez, I mean, it was like complete chaos at the beginning, very similar to Australia. And again, Max had a horrible I my note is WTF Max, like a horrible start.
SPEAKER_01A horrible start.
SPEAKER_00I know he wasn't the only one. Who else had a bad start?
SPEAKER_01I think a lot of people did. I at one point Gasly and Cola Pinto were fourth and fifth in for a while. For a while. I have 17 minutes in and I may need to watch the beginning. I think I was distracted. I don't know.
SPEAKER_00No, I think it was just there was so much happening, it was like truly hard to take like appropriate notes.
SPEAKER_01Um, because I don't have a lot of notes either, but it was No, I think it was just like complete and utter chaos. So I have on lap nine that it was Antonelli, Russell, Hamilton, LeClaire, and then again, this is when Gasly and Calapinto were in fifth and sixth. Ocon was seventh, Lawson was eighth, Lynnblad was ninth, Behrman, like literally just and then yeah, yeah. Hajar was in 18th. Something happened to Hajar.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he he didn't did he?
SPEAKER_01I think he had to box really early.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, he got like clipped or something and had to box. Yep. And then already at this point, it's obviously the McLaren are out, Gabby was out, and then Alex was out. Yeah, yeah, and there were so many people. I mean, though it was just insane.
SPEAKER_01The the did not DNA so many DNFs or DNS didn't start, which I didn't even know that was a term because that doesn't happen often. Yeah, new regulations, learning new things. But I have a that McLaren actually did have two different electrical issues related to the power unit, and they were completely random circumstances, which I'm like, I don't know if that gives me comfort or fear. Yeah, I I don't know.
SPEAKER_00I I truly am trying not to just completely spiral on all of this.
SPEAKER_01Um, I do have that there was a yellow flag in a safety car.
SPEAKER_00I truly the out the Calapento. Yes. Yeah, yes. Oh, was this the one? No, no, wait, there were a couple, right? Yes, because there was one where Franco was in P2. I think that might have been he wasn't involved in the safety car, but it was like the safety car happened, everyone pit, and then Franco was in P2.
SPEAKER_01That might have been it. I just also have like Checo's in 12th and Max is in 14. Like, what is this? 2023 when Treco was winning at Red Bull sometimes. Yeah. Um, safety car ended at 14. I honestly so professional, cannot remember what that first safety car. I don't either.
SPEAKER_00It was probably honestly it was probably freaking Lance Stroll because I because he I have a note because he rode off on a little scooter and he looked so silly that I was like, something happened to his car. Something happened to his car. Um, and then I also um I you know it was a good race. I don't have a lot of notes because it was just like complete chaos the whole time. It felt like then it kind of did the thing where it like slowed down and everyone was just kind of like in their spots. Yeah. Like it was like finally George got in front of the Ferraris.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um because Kimmy was just like he zoomed away and wasn't like sailing away yet. He was still within striking distance, but it was like Charles and Lewis were just like going back and forth, and I kept being like, are they gonna hit each other? And then George finally just like zoomed around both of them. Yeah. And it was like, okay, now it's just like mercy. And then at that point, Kimmy just sailed away. George was up there, and then it was like just Lewis and Charles going back and forth.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I there was definitely a lot of fighting. I mean, not just in between teammates. I have who else? I have that. Um, at one point There was a lot of midfield.
SPEAKER_00I mean, so much was happening in the midfield.
SPEAKER_01So much was happening in the midfield. I have that Bearman and Ocon actually were fighting each other. Yes. Um, and then at one point, Colapinto was ahead of Leclerc, and I they literally made note of it on the radio. They're like, oh, how mature of Franco for like just letting Leclerc pass. He knows his place. Yes, he knows his place. He knows his place. Um, but I and then I think Bearman like passed Colapinto to be in fifth, and I said, I'm calling it now that whenever Lewis retires, Bearman is for sure going to Ferrari.
SPEAKER_00Oh, absolutely. I mean, he's 100% so well. Um, we'll get to like our predictions for Japan, but John had a funny thing about Bearman.
SPEAKER_01Oh, he did? Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh.
SPEAKER_01I also just have like they showed Lando in the media pen like mid-race, and I said F Mercedes. I know.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, Rach was like not in a good spot.
SPEAKER_01Not in a good first non-start for um for Lando in F1, which I thought was actually interesting. Oh, Lex text having a beer at 9 37.
SPEAKER_009 37. That was my day. I mean, you know, I was enjoying the race.
SPEAKER_01I just, yeah, no, lots of wild fighting. I have a note, like, this is so overstimulating. Um, my mom was yelling at LeClaire to not let Russell pass.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah. No, Susan is not a fan of mine and John's favorite drivers.
SPEAKER_01No, in fact, so funny. My aunt sent my dad like a Red Bull, which I need to give it to you, by the way. Yeah. My aunt sent my dad a Lego car to build, um, and it was Red Bull, and he texted me and was like, don't want this. Would Lexi want it?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, and like they they finally realized I was a Red Bull fan, and they're like, Oh, you like you like them. Yeah. It wasn't a question, it was just a statement.
SPEAKER_01Well, he's like, I would only take a Ferrari or Mercedes.
SPEAKER_00And I was like, Okay, well it's Greg's year this year. Yes, it is Greg's year.
SPEAKER_01It's Greg's year this year. Um, but I I do, I will say, I feel like watching this race learned a lot about the more about the battery and kind of understanding it a little bit better. So, like, obviously, using the battery leaves you vul vulnerable for an overtake. Right. So you have to be super strategic about when you're using it. Yeah. And I people are given like the drivers, and everyone's complaining about how this feels like a video game or Mario Kart because you're having to press these buttons, and it's almost like a whole other strategy or a whole other element. But what I was thinking about, and forgive me because I do not drive a stick shift car, but or manual car. My name has tried to teach me. Um, but isn't that why people love manual cars? Because there's something else that you need to be like doing while you're driving. Yeah, but I think obviously it's different because it's like you're pressing a button.
SPEAKER_00From what I understand, like on a max for staff.
SPEAKER_01And it's giving you more speed. Yeah. Changing from changing your gear is not necessarily it's just how you drive it.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, but that was just something to make note of. Um, also at one point, speaking of my mother, at one point she said that I sound like Bernie Collins, which is hilarious. She's like, but Bernie has an Irish accent. Oh my god. Hello. And she did she did note that, but I just thought that was funny. Well, I was that's a solid love.
SPEAKER_00That's a solid Susan Gwyn.
SPEAKER_01Would love to be compared to Bernie.
SPEAKER_00She's you were so incredibly smart.
SPEAKER_01Um, but yeah.
SPEAKER_00I'm looking at your notes, and um, this is wild the fighting, but the fight, and this is all in caps, and the fighting is not spelled spelled correctly. I mean, not even correctly, it's just not spelled.
SPEAKER_01No, uh well, then I have a note in all caps that says wow, with all like multiple O's. And that was after Max retired at uh lap 40.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, I mean it was it was it was a great race, it was crazy.
SPEAKER_01Um oh my mom also said yay hammy. Yeah, yay hammy, which normally she refers to him as Lulu, and then she said, she said Leem and Gasly can get in an accident. I don't like them.
SPEAKER_00Well, I kind of like guess well that's what I guess I truly she doesn't mean it.
SPEAKER_01She doesn't mean it, but she like kind of does.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, I get it. She says what we're all thinking. Oh, no filter, but truly, like I kept waiting for someone to hit each other. Oh, and then Kimmy on like the last could we not so yes, he is not Toto, but Bono's like just finished the race. Like that was the radio, just finished the race. Don't do anything. It was like, come on, man, you just you gotta, you gotta finish.
SPEAKER_01Um, you gotta finish and not crash out. Um, but yeah, so we were jumping all over the place. But Kimmy number one, congrats to Kimmy.
SPEAKER_00Do you want to tell everyone your thoughts about Kimmy?
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah, are you looking at it? Yeah, I will.
SPEAKER_00Because it's a hot take.
SPEAKER_01Okay, Kimmy number one, hot take. I this sounds so mean, and this is maybe like similar to how I maybe I have a problem with this because I felt very similar, similarly about Oscar, but I feel like Kimmy hasn't put in his time, and maybe that's the little thing that's holding me back from really loving him. I just think he needs to have like more, what do I say, battle scars and lore before not just him, like anyone deserves that seat. And so that's why I think I also was a little was going to be so upset if Oscar won last year, because Lando started at McLaren when it was no one Lando when it was really shitty. And Oscar just came in, yes, they were still not great, but came in at a time where they were still pretty solid. And I I think that's not that Mercedes was amazing last year, but they were still decent. And so I just like it's not like Ollie's starting at Haas, Bordoletto is starting at Audi. Like, I just feel like you have to start. George even started at Williams.
SPEAKER_00So all of you no, I I am I am not disagreeing with you.
SPEAKER_01You're not even making a face where it's you're arguing. I'm just getting worked up about it.
SPEAKER_00No, I'm not no because I am a bit I'm a big Kimmy fan because I think that it's really cool of Todo and Mercedes to take a risk on someone when not a lot of other team principals would have even thought to bring someone in the world. No, but you know why?
SPEAKER_01This is me playing devil's eye. Yeah, no, no, go ahead. But you know why he did that? Why? He wants like a max for step. Obviously. I mean, doesn't everyone he actually wants max for me? But he kind of wants that glory of like discovering someone, yeah, and putting them in.
SPEAKER_00His wife started F1 Academy. Yes, so like their their whole thing is that they're like, you know, we can make F1, which this is so silly because they're so rich, but like we can make F1 more you know accessible for people. Which I do love that.
SPEAKER_01I do love that. I love that message or admission.
SPEAKER_00And I think that it's it's nice that they brought in someone else that like whether or not it's just for clout, they did bring in someone else that's not just like Fernando Alonso.
SPEAKER_01You're right, and to be fair, it's not like and again, Cadillac obviously did this for many reasons, but you're not bringing in Veltry and Checko, yeah, like tenured people. And you're right, you're right, that's fair. They're taking a risk, and I absolutely respect that.
SPEAKER_00I truly believe that if Kimmy didn't step up this year, he'd be out. One person knows that.
SPEAKER_01And again, it is only race two. And I'm not saying I don't believe in him. I did get chilled contract when he crossed.
SPEAKER_00His contract is up in 2027, right? Him and George.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I think they've been year to year.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, it kind of seems like so Wake truly is like they will, I believe fully that Daddy Wolf will drop Kimmy just like he would drop George if they don't perform.
SPEAKER_01And if Max became available.
SPEAKER_00Oh, come on, Max. Can you imagine? Whoa, our household would be a household divided. We're getting a Mercedes flag.
SPEAKER_01But you would also be a household divided.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we would we already are, but it's fun, but it would be worse. Yeah, it would be bad. Anyway, okay, anyway. Back to Kimmy's win, because not to skirt over it, but I think Rachel does have a hot take and the meaning of everyone just like Kimmy, gimme, gimme, gimme. Which my my nephew Charlie loves Kimmy. He loves Kimmy. He is 10 and he is my little F1 buddy. So I am a big Kimmy fan just because of that, too. But I will say, I it was very emotional when and Toto getting on the radio and being like, Kimmy, they said don't put him in Mercedes, he's not ready. We'll look at you now or look at us or whatever. He said, like that was really sweet.
SPEAKER_01It was sweet. Also, a double advocate. I'm like, yeah, that at the ready. Of course he did. I mean, he was leading the whole array. No, I mean, this is all in good fun, right? Like, I again I did have chills when Kimmy crossed the finish line. I cried when he was on the podium.
SPEAKER_00That was so cute. And he was crying during his interview.
SPEAKER_01During his interview, like I I'm don't have a cold heart.
SPEAKER_00Like, I I do understand. Yes, it's fine. He has time to grow on you. Also, uh, we were joking, John and I were laughing about how Kimmy's just gonna kiss everyone because he's Italian. Because he went and kissed his dad. Um, and so we were like, he's gonna kiss everyone. He's gonna kiss Toto, he's gonna kiss George, he's gonna kiss Vono, like everyone's just kissing everyone else just because he's so Italian.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I love it. Hey, you know what? Well, I did see that, uh, or did see, they did mention that Kimmy was the first um Italian in 20 years uh to win a race.
SPEAKER_00We're not Italian, but I I mean if an American was, you know, winning a race, I'd be pumped. One day. Yeah. One day. Um, and then I thought it was really great of the Duchess to step back and let Bono have a photo with his with his drivers. That was really good job, George. That was nice.
SPEAKER_01Truly was my favorite moment. Like how sweet. The other, so that was yeah, that was just like adorable.
SPEAKER_00It was like a family reunion.
SPEAKER_01But the even like the one that even pulled out my heartstrings more was when they showed Toto's reaction to that. And he's like, We've got three drivers on the podium, and he's like, one's in the wrong color. Yeah, he's in red.
SPEAKER_00He's still our driver.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought that was really, really sweet. And I just I love Bono, truly. Yeah, Bono Bono. Yeah, and I think they said that he I don't know what the stat was, but I guess like he had been the engineer for all three of them because George filled in for I think Lewis at one point.
SPEAKER_00Oh cute. I didn't hear that.
SPEAKER_01I think or that makes sense. Lewis, George filled in for someone, so it must have been Lewis. George filled in for Lewis, and he had um Bono as his race race engineer. So Bono, what a legend.
SPEAKER_00Um, and then also we were laughing about Lulu in the cooldown rooms. Oh my god!
SPEAKER_01Oh my gosh, yeah, he's like, wow, this is so much nicer than the because he had literally all of last year never been in the cooldown rooms where it's more than like the director's folding chair.
SPEAKER_00Yes, which is so funny. I loved seeing that content. He was just like starstruck, like so happy to be there.
SPEAKER_01Well, and he this couch is better than the press conference. Yeah, the press conference. But then the best is what you mentioned that video where it it all of that goes all of the cuts to the folding chairs and like the little tiny car in Vegas, not in 2024, but yeah, the Rolls Royce that they drive in or whatever it was, where they're all scrunched in the backseat. So no, that was hilarious. I loved that, and then I just like love that Lewis said that this is one of the most enjoyable races, and then this is where him and Charles were like they really enjoyed racing each other, which was sweet.
SPEAKER_00It's very funny, and I wonder if like Max's whole beef with all of This is just that he hasn't had a chance to even battle with anyone. Like he's either not doing anything or zooming around.
SPEAKER_01100%.
SPEAKER_00It's not like anyone's actually like, I mean, maybe him and Lando during Australia had like a little moment. Yeah. But he really just followed him around.
SPEAKER_01No.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Anyway.
SPEAKER_01Well, and I don't think we said the top 10. Because we went from Antonelli. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Obviously, our boy, our little choker boy, uh Kimmy was P1. Uh, the Duchess, George Russell, P2. And then to round out our podium, we have Lulu Hammy.
SPEAKER_01Lulu Hammy. Oh my God. Lulu Hammy.
SPEAKER_00Lulu Hammy. Um, and then P4 was Charles Leclerc. Five was Ollie. So good. And then six was Pierre. Incredible. Seven, Liam. Eight, Isaac, which that's very good. Um, good job, Isaac. Oh my god, Carlos was ninth. I forgot.
SPEAKER_01Yes, Carlos, which we barely saw any of Carlos. Another one of Susan's faves. No surprise. I feel like all the moms love Carlos.
SPEAKER_00I love Carlos. John loves Carlos. Um, and then Tim was Calapento. Yay. So Wow, okay, Colapento. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Great day for Flavio. Flavio was we would also like we can acknowledge that Flavio is controversial, but we just find it very much. We find entertaining very interesting.
SPEAKER_00He's so entertaining and also controversial. So he's incredible to watch.
SPEAKER_01Incredible to watch. Um, we can breeze through kind of the next couple of things, but yeah, anyway, like such a great race. Really did love it. Lots of good lore. Brought the fighting, brought the love.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it was good. It was a good, it was a good uh good race.
SPEAKER_01Um, we can go on to hot goss. Yeah. Um, Lex actually sent this to me. This totally did not come across my desk or aka Instagram algorithm, but there's a video of Carmen like showing off a ring, like fluttering her hand, and I think there's a ring on there, right?
SPEAKER_00It's it looks like she's showing a ring. Is it an engagement ring? We don't know. We don't know. But if those two are soft launching their engagement, I need to know. Honestly, are they waiting because of the LeClaire hype?
SPEAKER_01Maybe, but I don't know. I it is really funny because I think probably out of all the people on the grid, well, I know George and um Alex are probably closest. And then I guess Charles may might be in that quote unquote like friend group, but um, I do think that Alex and Lily getting engaged is maybe putting pressure on the show.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but also if he went ahead and did it, and then because they just got engaged, maybe he's waiting. They're waiting to like hard.
SPEAKER_01You're right, maybe they're waiting to have that die down. I also just want to call out Carmen for her outfit.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, the Adidas made tracksuit with the with the vintage jeans.
SPEAKER_01Oh, god, with the cuff at the bottom.
SPEAKER_00I mean, the the bags that I saw at the China GP were all so good.
SPEAKER_01Oh, like the purses.
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah, there and then they get the drivers to sign them.
SPEAKER_01Do you follow that photographer?
SPEAKER_00Yes, yeah, Kim. I think it's his name. Yes, yes, so good.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I thought of you. I did I send that to you?
SPEAKER_00Did you? You might have.
SPEAKER_01I don't remember, but that made me think of you.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it was so good. And then also seeing the funny, the funny merch that fans were wearing, like the clever, funny, nerdy stuff. Oh, yeah. Love it.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I told you that. People, I love going to GPs. People, and I've been to one. Oh my god.
SPEAKER_02I've been to one who's going to GPs.
SPEAKER_01But the one girl that was sitting in front of us with her dad at the uh had the Horner hater that was like a homemade shirt. Love it. It was incredible. Love it. Anyway, we love a high-law moment, but anyway. But she looks like I would have I would totally wear that outfit 100%. Um, this one is actually, I know we said no breaking news, but this might be breaking news. Breaking news, and I can't compare to here first. And it'll just be your mom and my sister. Yeah. But um, but so yeah, Kim and Lewis continuing. Kim Kardashian, I think that goes without saying, and Lewis Hamilton, Lulu Hammy, continue to be spotted together. Um, still no skim's collab, which we're waiting for. But the this just in is that Kim and Lewis have been spotted in Japan.
SPEAKER_00I can't is she coming to the paddock? What will she be wearing?
SPEAKER_01She has to come to the paddock. She has to. She has to come to the paddock. Why else would she be in Japan? I mean, maybe supporting from afar, which, if that is the case, that is very stupid.
SPEAKER_00She just like Kim aired herself over to Japan to see. You what?
SPEAKER_01Lulu Hammy. Do you think they were waiting to have her come to the track until they were like, he needs to podium first before she comes to the track? Maybe. And that would be a Kardashian thing to do, I guess. Well, because the Kardashian curse might be broken if he got P3.
SPEAKER_00Can we break the three curse, not the Kardashian curse?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, that would be a I would rather that curse be broken than the Kardashian curse. Sorry, doll you Lewis Hamilton. Yeah, Lulu Hammy.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you guys had your time.
SPEAKER_01But anyway, that's extremely exciting. I cannot wait to see to Lexi's point. Is she in the garage? What is she wearing?
SPEAKER_00Yeah. I I can't wait.
SPEAKER_01Um, will they walk in together? Will they walk in together?
SPEAKER_00Will she have the headphones on? Is she gonna sit with Fred?
SPEAKER_01Oh my god. Oh my god, Kim and Fred, they're probably the same height. Oh, Fred. We love Fred. Um, and then, oh, this is like not a gossip, but it's just funny that Lando Norris is going to be the uh Madame Tussaud's wax figure in London.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, seeing the pictures of him like getting his measurements taken for it. Yeah, I can't wait. I can't wait. May have to bucket list.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I do want to go to Silverstone. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um on the list. I'll glamp.
SPEAKER_01Whether we go to Silverstone or we run the London Marathon, we will be making our way to Madame Tusso. Exactly. Either way. Two soaps. We'll go see Lando. We'll go see Lando. Um, just again, not gossip, but Oscar's post uh about two weeks of watching F1.
SPEAKER_00Like freaking brilliant. It's so funny. I like was such I still kind of am Oscar hater, but he does have a really unique, funny sense of humor.
SPEAKER_01I I'm not yes, no, I got caught up because I was like, I don't, to your point, like I don't hate him, but I'm slightly still an ass. I think I would like him more if, again, him and Lando weren't teammates and like fighting for the world championship last year.
SPEAKER_00But so far, we don't have that.
SPEAKER_01Really funny. Really funny, dry sense of humor. And I don't know, this is like a random aside note that if this is true, makes me like him even more. But his girlfriend might work for McLaren.
SPEAKER_00No, yeah, she um I don't know if she still does, but yes, I just saw And I think it's like something to do with engineering. She's not an engineer, but she's some sort of engineer, like a tire engineer or cooling engineer, something like that.
SPEAKER_01Anyway, that's very, yeah, very cool. Way to go, Lily. We love we love ladies in F1. Ladies in F1. Yeah. F1 Academy. We did not brush up on it. Oh no, we didn't watch that. Maybe we'll we do love ladies in Formula One. We'll talk about F1 Academy next week.
SPEAKER_00We'll have time. We'll have time.
SPEAKER_01We'll have time. Um, oh, and then what we like were talking about before. Mercedes, you take it.
SPEAKER_00Everyone is hating on the Mercedes merch drop, like saying, like, we're so lame with the wolf. I think it's so incredible, and I need to get John something from it because as I said last time, he is like fully looking into Mercedes merch. But the Toto Wolf photos, I mean, all of them are great, but the Toto photos that he's like, you know, yes, that he's modeling is so good. But like, can you imagine John's wearing that with the like wolf? Honestly, it would be sick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, actually, Kimmy looks like a good little model in that no, that's a good idea. And George always, yeah, he yeah. Um these are $180, but which is a lot. It's a lot, it's a lot, but it could also be worse. Some of that McLaren Reese stuff that I want is like $300 or $400.
SPEAKER_00Beautiful those like leather jackets.
SPEAKER_01This sweatshirt is sick. It is $300. Yep, yep. Is that a signed cap?
SPEAKER_00I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Does it just have a signature? Oh, that's a designer's signature.
SPEAKER_00Okay. I mean, but they're like even the bucket hat. Honestly, would wear the bucket. But yeah, uh, love it, and people are hating on it. And I say, you know. Yeah, yeah. Rachel just stumbled across the black lava. The wolf balacah. Not the black bulk.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, that's scary. Words. Words baklava is a dessert. The balaclava. The balaclava. That is the fact that it's on Kimmy in this photo is so funny.
SPEAKER_00They made him take off his joker.
SPEAKER_01Uh anyway, okay.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, yeah, but that was my other little like ha ha hee he.
SPEAKER_01Ha ha hee hee moment. Um, I think before we we can cover finding Flavio, and then we do have to go into uh we forgot our formula run club.
SPEAKER_00Do we want to do finding Flavio before Formula Run? Yeah. Okay. So finding Flavio. Obviously, he was Q3 um talking to Franco and giving him a handshake. He also was spotted at Disney, which is like two of your favorite things. Uh yes, and I I didn't look so closely because was he at Disney World in Florida or was it a I think he must have been in like Disneyland Paris or something. I don't think it I doubt it would be. Because I didn't recognize the ride he was on, and the best part about it is they have him mic'd up. Like very clearly, they mic'd him up. He doesn't say a word, he just like kind of grunts a little bit. And the cot caption is bringing a little Disney magic to Falabio Briatori. Oh wait, that's funny. And it's so of course it's not the other way around. Okay, so it's just it's just by Disney Parks, but who else is tagged in that? Oh if you hit two other oh Shanghai. Okay, yeah. So he's yeah, I've never never been to an international Disney park, but he goes on this ride and he has his sunglasses sunglasses on, and he's he is sort of smiling, but it's in the dark ride. He hates his life. I just think it's he looks so confused, and then he and then they like he doesn't say a word, they just kind of show him on this ride and then he goes away. Which the ride looks sick.
SPEAKER_01Wait, this looks so fun. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh anyway, but that was Oh, he is smiling, but that was uh I mean, is he smiling because he's making fun of it or is he smiling because he's having a good time? And then the end of the video, he just hands the microphone. He's like, I don't want this. So funny. I don't want this at all. Anyway, that was incredible. I have no idea, but I want I want to know what poor media person at Shanghai Disney had to do that.
SPEAKER_01Like the fact that he actually did that is wild, actually.
SPEAKER_00It's because Franco and Pierre got points. Yeah. Well, maybe it was a bet. Maybe anyway, that's fine. That's our finding Flavio Stacy. Finding Flavio, controversial Flavio um takes takes. Yes. Um, okay. Final segment, formula run.
SPEAKER_01Formula Run Club. And then we'll talk about our predictions for next week.
SPEAKER_00Okay, so uh Oscar Piastri is our first driver.
SPEAKER_01No, but we need to talk about last week.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, do you want to do our predictions and then talk about last week?
SPEAKER_01Well, but no, well, so I had who did I have? Lewis Hamilton. I think I said he was going to get P2 and he got P3. So I had to run one mile.
SPEAKER_00Oh, this is why I'm I'm avoiding this. Yeah, you better. Because I had Max.
SPEAKER_01And what did he qualify in again?
SPEAKER_00He qualified at P eight. And he DN'd. Yeah, he DNF'd, and I predicted P5, which was like horrible for me to even like.
SPEAKER_01So is that 15 miles?
SPEAKER_00It's a lot of miles. I've not run that many miles.
SPEAKER_01We're working out logistics, like we said.
SPEAKER_00I did uh I mean it did snow a foot. You ran six yesterday. Last week I did like eight, which is not fifteen.
SPEAKER_01One day at a time. Mine have been two and one mile. So and you've been running way more than me.
SPEAKER_00Anyway, but yeah, I I don't want to ever get Max again.
SPEAKER_01It was too much pressure. This is why it's crazy that A we were doing this and decided to do this. But I'm like, anything could happen.
SPEAKER_00Anything could happen. Okay, you get Oscar. Oh yay! Um which is an interesting one. I mean, I'm assuming they will, you know, not just DN DNS. I don't know what Oscar. Max won la the last like however many years of the Japanese Grand Prix. Grand Prix.
SPEAKER_01He loves this track. Yeah. So last year Oscar got third. Okay. I think I'm going to say I'm gonna say sixth. Okay. I'm gonna say six for Oscar. Lock it in. P six. Okay.
SPEAKER_00Who do you have? I get Lulu Hami. Oh. Uh, which this is actually kind of difficult because he has also won this Grand Prix. He was seventh last year. Last year he was seven. He's been doing really well, obviously got a podium. And I don't I I feel like Mercedes is not gonna stop being Mercedes. I don't think yet. So I but I also am like, is he gonna get P3 again? I don't know. That feels also pretty, you know, like you don't want to do the same thing. Yeah. So I think I'm gonna say P four. I love that.
SPEAKER_01I think that's still logical, respectable.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Okay. It's much easier to pick when it's not your favorite driver. So who do you want to win? I think that who I want to win. Max who I think is gonna win. Yeah. I mean, obviously I want Max to like come back after a week off and crush it and have the rage of the Nerd Nuremberg. Nurdenberger. I'm saying this silly because I truly have not said that word out loud. Nuremberg. Nuremberg. Nuremberg. Yeah. Yes. The rage after Nuremberg. Um I want him to come come back and like smoke everyone. Um but I don't know. I don't know what he's gonna do. And I also it's kind of I don't mean to be a cop out, but I feel like Mercedes is kind of on a roll. Yeah. Do I think Kimi's gonna get P1 again? Not necessarily. No. Um but Ferrari and Mercedes are just dominating. Yeah. Like it's it would be really nice to see a different team on the podium.
SPEAKER_01Which is hilarious because it's only been, but we had a sprint, so I guess like three kind of races where we've seen them.
SPEAKER_00And like Ollie's been doing so well. Like, I would love to see him on the podium again. I would love to see him on the podium. Yeah. I'm I also I would take Lando. That would be cool. That would be fun.
SPEAKER_01That would be fine. Um, I'm I'm with you. I kind of want yeah, I I think I might have the same answers. I think I kind of want Max to win. I just want him to have like a huge comeback. I think who will win? I think it's probably George.
SPEAKER_00Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I don't think we're quite gonna have a lot of variety.
SPEAKER_00I think Merck is gonna be kind of dominating until that whole engine drama happens later in the series. Yes, yeah, you know, whatever. But yeah, I would love to see. I actually want last year's podium. If we could do Max's last year was Max Lando and Oscar and P3, that'd be sick. Um, but I don't know, we'll see.
SPEAKER_01Ugh, Albon was up at night.
SPEAKER_00Did you so John Oh, yes.
SPEAKER_01My sister didn't text me. Ben's in the middle, they are playing a baseball game. Um, my husband, bad. I think in the middle of the game.
SPEAKER_00My husband John has said, let me pull up this text.
SPEAKER_01I also texted my sister and she didn't respond. She love you, Elise, but she's horrible at responding to text her calls.
SPEAKER_00My I texted my sister and had to text her husband and say, Hey, I just sent Carter a text. Will you please tell her to respond? And he said, Done. And then she responded. Oh, maybe that's the move.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I need to text. My sister is also named. Named. She's not named Ben. My sister's husband is also named Ben. Yeah, we got a lot of Ben's up and texted Ben. Anyway, what are what are people?
SPEAKER_00Sean said Ferrari and Mercedes have been so dominant that it feels like we'll see a repeat of the last two. So that means the Duchess. Oh, I forgot. He said the Duchess OFC. Um, so he's he's going for George Russell. And then he says, I predict Bearman and P5 or P6. Oh, a rogue production. He just did kind of a rogue production. I love that, honestly. Yeah, he's really into Ollie, which I I love. And then I didn't hear back from anyone else, Angie, about Lydia and Charlie's predictions. We can talk about them after the race next time. Charlie probably is gonna say Kemi. And Lydia is deciding between her favorite being Lando Norris or Ollie Bearman.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my girl. Yeah. Oh my god, yes, uh, yeah. Okay, no Kimmy. I thought she would do Kimmy. She likes maybe she wants to be different from her brother, but yeah, I understand. Um, okay, my dad, I guess, says Charles because he's been doing really well. And my dad, Ferrari, you're a Mercedes fan. Yeah. Um, my mom says Lewis, shocking. Because she says, because he is determined and understanding the car better. Okay, great. And then she said, let me check what the track conditions were like last year.
SPEAKER_00Oh, I did, I did hear Rachel stepped out of the room and called her mom, and she was like, But what's the track like? And then of course I had to go look up, and it does have different turns. It has a lot of turns. That so it's like, I can't remember exactly what it's like. Uh Australia has more straights, and then China has more turns. Yep. And then Japan has like a good mix of everything, so it will be different. Okay. I guess. Fun. I don't really know what I'm talking about.
SPEAKER_01Well, we might be able to race on the sim and we can report back.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And maybe we'll go to the watch party and watch it together.
SPEAKER_01Yes. For us, it's gonna be a 12 a.m. race start for the um Japanese Grand Prix. Yep.
SPEAKER_00Not honestly, acceptable-ish time frame. Yeah. I mean, I'm down with that. And I would think it would be good to watch race together. Notes might be.
SPEAKER_01No, but that's fine. But that's I think it for me that might be better. Yeah. I'll be more present and in the moment. Um, but yeah, I think that's it for our second episode of this podcast. Again, thank you to the two of you that are listening for being on this journey. I promise you guys, it will get better.
SPEAKER_00It can't get worse.
SPEAKER_01I don't think it can get worse.
SPEAKER_00It cannot get worse.
SPEAKER_01I feel like even at the end, loosened up a little bit. You're doing great. You're doing great.
SPEAKER_00I mean, you had some feral dogs up in here. I'm just kidding. Rachel's dogs are really cute.
SPEAKER_01They're just hyperactive.
SPEAKER_00They need some F1 merch.
SPEAKER_01Oh, my mom tried to buy them a McLaren dog sweatshirt that was like $130. And I said, absolutely not. I mean, that's a little crazy. I feel like they'd immediately need collars.
SPEAKER_00Collars, yeah. Um, yeah.
SPEAKER_01So anyway, thank you everyone for sticking on this journey with us. You will probably actually see our faces on Instagram and maybe we should um maybe YouTube.
SPEAKER_00Maybe we should podium Sundays and just never show our face.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that could be a fun. Honestly, that could be fun.
SPEAKER_00We could still show outfits.
SPEAKER_01Maybe I need that uh balaclava. Incredible. You'll never see us again. Incredible. Okay. See you next Sunday. Signing off. See you next Sunday. Bye. Bye.
