What started as Rachel underselling Formula 1 quickly became an obsession with billionaire egos, team politics, Ferrari strategy pain, and emotionally investing in drivers who absolutely do not know we exist.
Each week, we break down F1 race results, qualifying drama, Formula 1 news, silly season rumors, team orders, and everything happening on and off the grid. Whether you’re a longtime Formula 1 fan or new to F1 from Drive to Survive, On Sundays We Pod makes Formula 1 feel like the internet’s messiest group chat.

Is the 2026 F1 era already in a "crisis"? This week on On Sundays We, Lexi and Rachel break down the latest paddock panic as the FIA holds emergency meetings over the Ollie Crash and 2026 power units. We’re diving into why the drivers are frustrated, the latest news on driver moves, and a recap of Drive to Survive Season 8.
Plus, things get a little weird. Ollie Bearman's thirst traps, Christian Horner's Insta stories and we investigate why every British guy seems to have a yogurt obsession and reveal the ultimate songs we’d blast over the radio after winning a World Drivers' Championship.
In this episode, we cover:
- F1 News & 2026 Regulations: Why Drivers are upset about the new engines and what the FIA’s "tweaks" actually mean for racing. Are they going to make tweaks?
- F1 Gossip & Paddock Rumors: The latest on the silly season and who’s actually safe for next year. GP to McLaren and what this means for RedBull.
- Drive to Survive Recap: Our thoughts on Season 8—did Netflix do the 2025 season justice, or did they miss the biggest stories?
- The Yogurt Theory: Rachel and Lexi’s deep dive into British culture (and dairy) plus other nonsense.

I have one. Lexi just really can't record on that one.
SPEAKER_01I was trying. I'm not gonna lie. You were too in tune the last time I did.
SPEAKER_00Welcome to Welcome to Un Sunday's Wee, a Formula One podcast. I'm Rachel.
SPEAKER_01I'm Lexi.
SPEAKER_00Full transparency. Well, like we were saying, this is our second time recording this episode. Okay, so let's set the scene.
SPEAKER_01Um, we're busy girlies. We had a diet Coke Each, we were ready to go. Caffeine's flowing. We have a lot to talk about. We have a lot happening. We are on our little Formula One spring break. We recorded an hour and 40 minute episode. Way too long. Way too.
SPEAKER_00Way too long.
SPEAKER_01And then we go back to listen to it. Sounds awful.
SPEAKER_00Sounds like we're in a tin tuna can. Yeah, I think.
SPEAKER_01What the heck? So I try all the tricks, all my little editing tricks I picked up. Well, guess what? Somehow we were just recording from not our mics, just the computer. Just the frickin' computer. It sounded so bad. We can't do it. So we're re we're redoing it. We're so hopefully we're gonna be as great and entertaining as we were the first time around. This will be even better. I think it's gonna be even better, truthfully. We won't make you guys listen to us for an hour for you.
SPEAKER_00No, we're gonna we're gonna keep it high and tight, and we already were rambling a little bit anyway, so we can keep it even better.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so anyway, we are back better than ever uh for our episode. And in this episode, um we are talking drive to survive recap.
SPEAKER_00That's kind of like the the main content, and then we'll do our normal Formula One news, Formula One gossip, which are somehow kind of blending into one another, um, but still fun nonetheless. And then we are also, well, we do have a little bit of a correction, but even before we dive into that, we just want to say thank you to everyone who has downloaded, who has been listening, who has been sharing. Yeah. Um, we are just again, this is just supposed to be fun.
SPEAKER_01The girl, the girlies in Virginia showing up.
SPEAKER_00Truly, aka Lexi's friends, thank you. Y'all are showing up.
SPEAKER_01Carter shout out.
SPEAKER_00Like shout out to Lexi's sister Carter.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, where's the Colorado girlies?
SPEAKER_00Um there was one download from Denver, which was my sister. I the Path family needs to show up because my I don't think my parents have listened, and neither has my sister, and I don't think Ben is ever gonna listen.
SPEAKER_01No, John was giving us so much crap last weekend for not having released episodes yet that he is so he's the most supportive king, honestly. But like, I mean, if if I was getting my appendix taken out, he would George Wrestle it and like sleep on the floor for sure. He was like listening, he's our one international download because he was on a work trip in Canada when he downloaded it.
SPEAKER_00That's still North America. Did you just at least make Ben like turn it on while he's sim racing or something? I I did make him listen to part of one episode, and he said that that sounds like your customer service voice. So it's like great, great.
SPEAKER_01Not this one in round two, baby. No more customer service voice up in here. This is the real deal. Okay, yeah.
SPEAKER_00So anyway, we're having a great day. We're having a great day. Thank you all again so much for your support. I think at this point we've had 38 downloads. So it's more than just us re-listening to our own episodes. Thank God. Because we don't like doing that. We already have to edit it. Um, so we're we're still trying to figure this out, and we're so grateful you guys are on this journey with us. So follow us already on um Instagram. Yes, on Sundays we pod. And then anywhere that you listen to podcasts, which I think is mostly just Spotify and Apple, right now.
SPEAKER_01I thought I was on the other random podcast.
SPEAKER_00We maybe we will. Actually, we should probably post it everywhere else. We were just testing it out to see.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. Okay, you guys who don't listen to Apple or Spotify, yeah, we we got you. We got you, we got you.
SPEAKER_00Amazon music listeners, we'll hook you up. Yeah, we'll hook you up, we'll hook you up. Um we do first and foremost want to talk about despite my copious notes, we did we did mess up um for our formula run club segment.
SPEAKER_01On the topic of we are learning and growing, we are also learning and growing that we need to actually write down what predictions we make because we like to think that we are always right. Yes, and we were not, we were not our formula run correction stands as um Oscar did get P2. We thought Rachel had said P3. I think I thought I said P5.
SPEAKER_00Oh, but it's P6, so it wasn't that far off. It wasn't that far off. I predicted P6. Oscar got second, and then so four miles.
SPEAKER_01Yes, four miles, which you did run.
SPEAKER_00I did do, yes, not in one simultaneous go, but I have run four miles.
SPEAKER_01And just note, it is still well, I was gonna say fully winter, but it's really not fully winter. I just I'm I'm not from here. We do have greengrass, um, but it is cold today. So it's cold. We're not really running outside unless we're above 50 degrees.
SPEAKER_00Yes, not not yet. Um, so more running content to come. Oh, yeah, we're getting a drone. Stay tuned. John will be getting us a drone. Yep. Thanks, John. It's yep, yep. He doesn't know that yet.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he will when he listens to what I tell him after this.
SPEAKER_00But yeah, so uh Lexi predicted Lulu Hammy and P four and he got six. So you did have to run two. We thought you didn't have to run anything, right?
SPEAKER_01And I did do my two, and luckily I travel for work and I traveled to warmer climate or have been lately, so I was able to do it outside, which was really nice. So jealous.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, but all that to say, we'll probably start filming our formula run clubs. We'll try to run them together.
SPEAKER_01So yeah, it's gonna be great, and then we'll get some breakfast Sammies after.
SPEAKER_00Breakfast Sammies, which I saw that put that Instagram that you sent me. Yes, it was just like two gals that love to yeah, gab and chat and then and eat. We're gonna have to try to not talk about Formula One so we feel fresh for the pod. I think that we just get microphones.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we just like record the episode on the run. Well, I mean, it would sound better than the last one, really. It probably would. But no, we can do cute little reels. Yeah, so yeah, that's our correction.
SPEAKER_00So more to come on Formula Run Club, but yes. So apologies for that mix-up. I'm sure no one else got it but us.
SPEAKER_01We well, well, maybe, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Or maybe you guys are eagle-eyed and you're gonna hold us accountable. Love that. Please, please do, please do.
SPEAKER_01Um, and then our outfits, we will post pics because we have our Insta now. So we do have merch on surprise, surprise. It is both Enchanted merch. The best merch.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Enchanted. So yeah, we wouldn't turn down free product. No, we love we'll advertise it Danny Rec to our 12 Instagram followers. Yeah, we gotta get that up to 38 at least. Formula One news. So, first things first, the Formula Two race. Um, they were gonna have one in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, and obviously those two races are canceled. So they have now moved those to Miami and Montreal. The reason why we're talking about this is because Colton Herda is a indie car driver, ex-indy car driver. We maybe need to clarify that. But he was hoping to race the Indy 500 and is no longer gonna be able to because he is going to be racing F2 in Montreal. Which side note, Lex, I'm like, you're like, we should go to Canada. I need to change my name on my passport.
SPEAKER_01So I know the truth comes out, the truth comes out transparency and transparency. Okay, we're back. Um, as of the 2026 season, Colton Herda does not raise full-time in IndyCar. So he left after seven seasons to compete in Formula Two so that he can get a super license, so that he could potentially come to F1. So that's the scoop.
SPEAKER_00Okay, but I think the interesting thing about IndyCar, from my understanding, is that you could have, and again, maybe this is something we need to research and we can correct on the next episode if I'm wrong. But I think you can have you don't have to be a part of a team to race an indie car. Like I think you could have an independently sponsored car that you can race. So maybe he was going to do that. That's and now he can't do that anymore. Makes sense. I'm gonna make a note to look into that. Making a note for our research segment. Um, but yeah, so anyway, you guys know we're hoping for an American driver on the grid. So I'm glad that he's actually, and I mean he has to prioritize F2.
SPEAKER_01He's in F2, but I'm yeah, it's exciting to like actually see him putting in the time. Yes, for F2.
SPEAKER_00We should look up F2 races on our uh F1 TV. Oh, we should. We could even watch old ones.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. We're on a journey to the race car journey, racing journey.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. Um, but so yeah, that's big news. And then the next, honestly, truly the hot topic. Well, besides one we're gonna talk about later. There's a lot of there's a lot of hot topics.
SPEAKER_01For not having a race, there's a lot going on. So, I mean, do you want to take this one about the FIA meeting? Yeah, okay. So on April 9th, everyone was like, We are going to see something about the regs because there was an FIA meeting that was specifically put on to talk about the Ollie Bearman crash, the 50 G's, the scary stuff that happened. Well, I kept waiting all day long for news. All day long, I'm refresh, refresh, refresh, and nothing was really coming up because they basically decided that something needs to be tweaked, but nothing was decided, and that there will be more to come, essentially.
SPEAKER_00So the quote that we pulled out oh this it just read, yeah, the second one.
SPEAKER_01The um which we were laughing so like corporate, it goes there was constructive dialogue on difficult topics, especially when considering the competitive nature of the stakeholders. Now that's a customer service voice, aka literally nothing was talked about, like nothing was talked about. So they're the on uh ne like next week, basically, the 15th and the 16th. Um, they will be talking through technicalities, and then maybe on the 20th, we will see some changes because that's the final meeting.
SPEAKER_00Apparently. Yeah, it says approved approved changes on the 20th.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so more to come. I guess we'll keep seeing these side quests that the drivers are doing um until we get more time for social media content.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, which I'm not mad about galore. Yeah, I love it. Um, well, I asked you this earlier, and I know now you know, but I love that both Carlos and George are the directors of the Grand Prix Drivers Association. Yes, yes. That makes so much sense.
SPEAKER_01So much sense. Like, literally no one better to be in those positions.
SPEAKER_00I truly do not think I could pick anyone else that would be better for that.
SPEAKER_01No, absolutely not, right? No, I totally agree. Like maybe Ollie Behrman down the line? Uh no, no. You think so? No. He not have you seen any of his interviews? He is like the least PR.
SPEAKER_00He is actually the least media trained. It's so funny. Like, he is too earnest. So then there's no one else. Those are the two that I'm like, that would be it. Um yeah, who else? Okay, wait, let me think. Valtry, Chaco, maybe Chaco, Fernando, I don't know. I don't feel like Nico and we're back anytime one of us makes a mistake, and we're back. Um, but yeah, anyway, all that to say, hopefully we will find out more in the next week or so.
SPEAKER_01What about Alex? Oh, Alex would be a great director. Not Kimmy. No, absolutely not. Not Ollie. No. Arvid's too goofy, not Oscar. Not Oscar. Well, actually, maybe Oscar, maybe. Probably not Lando, but maybe Lando. Nando, not Charles, not Lewis, definitely not Max. I was like, Max? No. Yeah, Max would be like, give me, give me, let me add him. Um, so yeah, no, we don't. It has to be Carlos and George. They're doing the Lord's work. They're doing the Lord's work.
SPEAKER_00Well, and they were saying too, I can't remember, I think it was one of the F1 YouTube videos where they're talking about like who's most active in the group chat. And they were saying George and Carlos. Yes. They're like talking, talking about true, like standing on business.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I mean, if any, if anything comes from Drive to Survive, it's the fact that George gets interviewed and has commentary on literally everything.
SPEAKER_00Literally everything, which we'll get to later. He has an opinion on everything. Okay, this is truly the biggest news of the week. This isn't quite Lewis Hamilton going to Ferrari, but I feel like it's causing even more of a stir.
SPEAKER_01I think, okay, more of a titter. Yeah, it's a it's a more of a titter. More of a titter.
SPEAKER_00Twitter.
SPEAKER_01A little a little buzz. See, see, the bad luck for the last episode is that the dogs were leaving us completely alone and they are in here now. Colby. Oh, hey, Colby. Colby.
SPEAKER_00Hey girl. Hey, Remy. Oh, yeah. I think we just need to embrace the dog content. Yeah. Okay. So you have Colby on your mic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I already had her hair. I had now I have her sober. Okay, so Colby said what we've all been really dying to talk about. And that is the fact that Max Verstappen's very close, very well renowned, very well respected race engineer GP is going to McLaren in 2028. Going to Papaya. Papaya. Yeah. And as a Max fan, I have completely been ignoring this news.
SPEAKER_00Lexi is um not processing this at all. And in fact, Rachel's worried about me. I am worried about you. I'm worried about what your electronics are doing. I received two texts from her Friday at 2.08 p.m. We've been texting so much. But Friday. We have a lot to gap about. Friday at 2.08 p.m. In all capital letters, it says, no, he doesn't. And then okay, yay in all capital letters.
SPEAKER_01And mind you, this is this is after I had already texted her about adding commentary to our Google Doc. So we're like fully talking, and then all of a sudden these texts come through. Distraught though. Like I had tears in my eyes thinking about not watching Max for Stephen Racing. And it makes me very sad.
SPEAKER_00Well, so we haven't even talked about what the repercussions of this might be. So GP going to McLaren. He is going to be the chief racing officer. I like screenshotted photos from Instagram into these. Oh my god. Colby. Okay, she's fine.
SPEAKER_01Colby is also a Max Verstappen fan.
SPEAKER_00Clearly. And she's getting riled up. She is upset. She is not a fan. She is not she is rebelling. Um, but so he's gonna be the GP is gonna be the chief racing officer at McLaren, and they're saying essentially that he's gonna be on the track to take over the um team principal position.
SPEAKER_01Which is a great move for him. And like of course he wants to be a move. It makes so much sense. Yeah, he wants he doesn't want to be a race engineer forever, and who knows what Max's plans are, honestly.
SPEAKER_00Well, because there have been been plenty of interviews throughout the years about how Max pretty much saying, like, once GP's done, like I'm done, like I'm no longer racing. And the timeline lines up with when Max's technical contract is done in 20 at the start of the 2028 season.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. And okay, so I'm not processing this well or at all.
SPEAKER_00But this is worse than the first time around.
SPEAKER_01This is worse than the first episode. Let's talk. Let's talk about like the worst thing ever that could potentially happen. Um, just kidding. This is not this is fine. Everything will be fine. But okay, so Rachel's a Lando Norris fan. What if we were able to root fully, like fully number one team, the same team, and Max goes to McLaren with Lando.
SPEAKER_00I honestly know this might sound crazy, but I'm I'm loving that idea. Love it. And I feel like my opinion maybe changed in like the last hour.
SPEAKER_01I can't I convinced Rachel. That's what you guys missed. The lost episode, we have another lost episode. And it was number two lost episode. It was just me convincing Rachel that she wants Max and Lando to race together.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think they they have a really good rapport and friendship when they are well, even Max congratulated Lando last year and was a good team sport about Lando's first WDC. So, but I I think where it could get really sticky is when they are true if and when they are truly competing for a drivers' championship with one another. If the car if the McLaren is horrible and they're both not doing well, I'm like, they're in the trenches together. That is camaraderie. That is gonna be some really top-tier content.
SPEAKER_01But I and my thought is if they're both going for the World Drivers Championship, which of course they would be. Like that would be insane if they weren't. I think Zach Brown would be the happiest man in the entire world. And I do think that it would be a very entertaining season.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely. We thought Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris was entertaining with Max as a third little party sneaking in.
SPEAKER_01And then you'd have Oscar on, let's say, a Red Bull or other teams, and what if he went back to LP? I was thinking the same thing! Flavio gets him back, and it's like redemption. Oh man, the drama.
SPEAKER_00The drama- sorry, Otmar. Sorry. Um, no, I that would honestly be wild if they swapped drivers like that. And I do think Oscar on Red Bull like does kind of make sense. I don't know if it's the Australian of it all, and that's what's really selling me. Or maybe it's like, I mean, but can you see Max in orange?
SPEAKER_01No. That seems someone like AI'd it and I was like, I like kept scrolling and then like had to go back. Wait, are we manifesting this with our velvet orange chairs that we sit in? I have been really into orange. That's what I'm saying. Like, I it would be I wouldn't be mad about it. I think just the not knowing and the whole like Max has historically in me doing my non-processing and looking at other things that have happened. Um, he has historically said things like, Well, when Helmet leaves, I'm leaving. He's still here, helmet's gone. So I just I just don't know. And then Yoss, Max's dad, Yoss First Happen, did speak up. I don't remember who who interviewed him, but basically was like, Yes, GP's leaving. Essentially, like they knew he was leaving, but like, is Max actually leaving? That's up to him.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. And he made it seem like, well, they said they've known about this for a little while now, and that they still have one and a half, two years with GP. Because that's the other thing we were talking about is he gonna have a gardening leave? And I it doesn't seem like it. I don't know. Yeah, it seems like he's still gonna fulfill his the rest of his time with Red Bull, with Red Bull and in 2028 is going to McLaren. But I don't know if that means he's going to McLaren in 2028, but then would have to not participate for a year.
SPEAKER_01That seems silly. I don't know. I guess we'll find out. I guess we'll find out. We will find out.
SPEAKER_00But I think this also brings up, besides the driver of it all, like where if GP eventually will become the um team principal at McLaren, is where does that leave Andre Estella?
SPEAKER_01Right.
SPEAKER_00And so there's rumors of him going back to Ferrari, which yeah. Which makes sense. I think he spent a number of years there, and I can't remember what position he was in, but he might have been a race engineer or an engineer um with Michael Schumacher on his car when he was at Ferrari.
SPEAKER_01What's really interesting about the McLaren piece of it is that when you look at team principles and marketing, you've got If you got Fred Vassero, you have Laurent Mickie's Mecke's Laurent Mecke Laurent Mickeys. You have all these people that like do pop up in media. They do have things to say. But McLaren has Zach Brown as the CEO, who kind of takes that piece of team principaliness from Andrea Stella. But I think he likes that. I think he does too. But what's interesting about thinking about Andrea going back to a different team is like, I don't know, it's just a different dynamic.
SPEAKER_00I just thought they don't have a representative like Zach.
SPEAKER_01That's and NGP, like, does he want to do stuff like that?
SPEAKER_00I don't think so. But I don't know. That's a great question.
SPEAKER_01We don't know. But these are the things that just popped in my head.
SPEAKER_00We are used to hearing his voice because he's on the radio all the time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's like placating Max.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00But that's a that's a good question. I don't know. I don't know what his preferences are gonna be, but to your point, I do a lot of time forget that Zach is not the team principal because he definitely does all the talking.
SPEAKER_01What if Lando went to Red Bull?
SPEAKER_00No. No, I'm kidding. Oh I'm kidding. That would be fine. That would be totally fine. So you think Oscar and Max? No. That's like two of the same almost. Yeah. In a lot of ways.
SPEAKER_01I mean, maybe I don't know. Well I there's so many question marks. It could that's a hot take. It is, yeah. And you know, after talking about this for three hours, I know things come into your brain. New thoughts. But there's so many different things that we have question marks on.
SPEAKER_00Well, even like where would Fred go if Andrea Stella is going to?
SPEAKER_01Because I just found out Fred is only 56. 57. 57. Yeah. Because I said, retire, baby. And Rachel's like, he's 56. And I'm like, what? 57. 57. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry, Fred. Sorry, Fred. But my point is, he's, I mean, he could retire. 57. 57.
SPEAKER_00He's almost 58. Happy almost birthday, May 28th.
SPEAKER_01Happy birthday, Fred.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, so again, lots of moves that could happen.
SPEAKER_01We still don't know what's going on with Jonathan Wheatley.
SPEAKER_00Yeah. We where did he go? What's he doing?
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Is he coming back? This seems like Is Christian Horner coming back?
SPEAKER_00I don't know. And this seems like the fact that we haven't heard anything about Jonathan Wheatley is reminding me a little bit of which I don't know if you'll even know this, the Oliver Oaks situation. Okay. No. Oliver Oaks was the team principal last year of Alpine. Oh. And had to leave for personal reasons.
SPEAKER_01Flavio ate him.
SPEAKER_00No. Um, it was like his brother was involved in some sort of like crime. Flavio. And they don't know that's if that's why he left. Um, but he resigned days after I think they found out that his brother was involved with some shady stuff.
SPEAKER_01I don't feel like Oscar would go back and work for Flavio. No, no, there's no way.
SPEAKER_00Absolutely no way. The bridges have been burned there. Um, absolutely.
SPEAKER_01I'm afraid for Franco and Pierre every day. But they're still here with us.
SPEAKER_00I think Pierre's gonna be Pierre's fine. I think Pierre can fend for himself. Franco, on the other hand.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, poor Oh my god, we didn't even talk about the death, the the Alpine death threats. Oh my god!
SPEAKER_00Oh that is maybe F1 news, F1 gossip, so we can transition kind of into gossip.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, okay. So Bearman, Ollie, had that horrible crash, and Franco was the car that slowed down. And apparently, uh, well, well, they did. So Alpine put out a note from the team or message from the team that was basically like we don't put up with death threats, and there is literally a blue minibus going by that says the struggle bus. And we are we are in a suburb. Like, what is going on right now? It was parked out there for a while.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what it was doing anyway.
SPEAKER_01Wow, um, back to back to Frank Alpine. Yeah, so they they basically put out a statement you can look on their Instagram, we can reshare it on our Insta. Um, but it was basically like we don't put up with this, we stand with our drivers. And so apparently Franco's team or his fans are the most diehard fans ever. And they were like freaking out about the situation with the crash. And because our algorithm doesn't prioritize Franco Calapento, which is funny because I feel like I do see a lot of him because I think he's very handsome. He is very handsome, he's a handsome little boy. But like, what the heck was going on with that?
SPEAKER_00You keep saying, but I was it Franco Calapento fans, or is it like fans right like like Haas fans? Well, I don't are people people, my understanding could be wrong, you could be right, that fans are mad at Franco because they think that he caused Behrman's crash. So is it more Hoff Haas fans or general like F1 fans that are making death threats towards Cole Pinto because he they think they he quote unquote caused the crash?
SPEAKER_01Let me look this up. Um, and we will like make the audio sound normal. But I'm gonna look this up because I remember when last year when Franco was doing so poorly, Alpine fans were sending him death threats. Because remember, Drive to Survive talked about that.
SPEAKER_00I can't remember.
SPEAKER_01I just showed it showed Franco and he was like upset for his like he was like scared for his life. Okay, pause for research. Okay, we're back, and we're back. We were wrong.
SPEAKER_00We were I was really wrong.
SPEAKER_01Well I was a little I was I was wrong too. We were both wrong. We got it, we got it twisted. So basically in China, so the second race of the season, there was a crash between Ocon and Franco. And basically the Alpine slash Franco fans were giving Esteban slash Haas death threats, and that's why Alpine released the letter saying, Hey guys, calm the F down.
SPEAKER_00You don't need to do this. This makes sense because I think that Franco Calpento has some very passionate fans. So that makes sense. Yes.
SPEAKER_01So you were right, it was Franco fans, but it was the wrong crash and the wrong race, so it must have been going on for a long time. So anyway, that's crazy, and I'm glad that we remembered that. Thank God we had to record again.
SPEAKER_00Thank God we had to record again. We'd have to do another correction. Um, but yeah, so let's just all, you know, be chill. It's just racing. No one died. No, we don't want anyone to die. We do not want anyone to die. No one died. Okay, so um, moving on. Gossip. You need to take this one.
SPEAKER_01Max looks so good in his Alvatari post, and he posted on his own Instagram. And why we're bringing this up again is not because I'm obsessed with Max, but because he put my favorite part of the job. Upside down smiley face, which is just so hilarious. He is so angry and so unhappy. So we just wanted to point that out because it is so silly. We'll repost it on our Instagram.
SPEAKER_00Again, though, like does look really good in this pick, giving George Russell vibes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, like he modeling vibes. Yeah, he looks great. He should he should just lean into it.
SPEAKER_00Maybe he should be a model full time.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, maybe he's gonna retire to be a model. Hot take, hot take, hot take, hot take, hot take.
SPEAKER_00Scalding. Um so exciting news. While Kim was not at the Japanese Grand Prix, nor do we have a Skims collab. Counting the days. Um, Lewis did hard launch Kim on his Instagram. Lexi literally put sick post. Sick post, like hard launch. It's uh he's driving like a vintage Ferrari in the night in in Shanghai. I almost said in the streets of London.
SPEAKER_02I think we always live in Japan. It was absolutely Japan.
SPEAKER_01Through the streets of London.
SPEAKER_00Side note, this is such a random side note, but in a portion of our store, there are cobblestone like floors, and me and one of our other leaders always like joke, like, through the cobblestone straight. Anyway, we're back. The um super crazy sick video that sounded so dumb. It's a very cool video, and he's doing donuts, he's cool music.
SPEAKER_01Popping wheelies. Oh my god, yeah. No, Lewis um is doing his thing, and then all of a sudden he like does a little donut, the music's cool. You're like, whoa, and then Kim's there, and then Kim gets out of the car and goes, Wow, that was so cool. But like Kardashian. But Kardashian. And then you're like, oh shit, they just hard launched.
SPEAKER_00Instagram official.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so that happened. That did happen.
SPEAKER_00So congrats to Kim.
SPEAKER_01No one's talking about it in the F1 podcast world that I've listened to because of the GP stuff.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, they don't have time for this, but this is important to us. This is important. This is this is important. This is incredibly important.
SPEAKER_01Other thing that's important, Ollie Bearman's thirst traps.
SPEAKER_00Quote unquote thirst traps. They have you seen them? No, I'll have to look it up.
SPEAKER_01Oh.
SPEAKER_00You keep talking, I'm gonna look it up.
SPEAKER_01Okay, Rachel's gonna look it up. So basically, Ollie was getting interviewed by Matt and Tommy from P1. And they were like, Do you know these thirst traps? Like, what's going on? Which apparently they've asked a couple drivers, and the drivers do see these things that we create. Um and it's uh and they're like aware of it, which is really funny. But Ollie was like, I'm not meaning to make these thirst traps, they're basically taking videos of me when I'm like working out or doing whatever, and then posting it as a thirst trap.
SPEAKER_00It is truly like from what I'm seeing thus far, it is literally just videos of him working out in the ones that they show in that Matt and Tommy post very those are tame?
SPEAKER_01Yes. Oh, it gets worse. There's I'm gonna have to come back. Yeah, you're gonna need to get on TikTok and like look through things, which which I'm bringing this up and I I'm focusing on it because Lydia, my niece, has deemed Ollie Bearman her favorite driver, and she is fully in on Ollie. Um, I can't well, I don't want to like give away too much, but like Lydia will get a lot of Ollie Behrman merch for her birthday. Oh, she's turning 13 and it's super cute. But the best part about all of it was Ollie was like, I don't like it. My girlfriend sends it to me, whatever. I'm no George Russell, which is so funny.
SPEAKER_00The thirst trap king duchess of F1. He loves his thirst traps. Is that who's doing the most thirst traps? I would say it's probably Louis or Pierre. Don't you think?
SPEAKER_01I what about um what about uh was it Isaac that posted the one of him shirtless and like his he's shockingly jail? Yeah, so I don't know, it might be Isaac. Anyway, we'll we'll report us your thoughts. Yeah, give it a settled the debate. Yeah, I mean we all want Carlos to be doing it, but that's not happening. He I don't think he really ever no, he just got a haircut.
SPEAKER_00I was gonna say it's hair traps. That's what they call it. Hair traps, hair traps. Um, the next speaking of Carlos. Speaking of Carlos, oh wow, great transition. I really fumbled the bag there. Um I got you. Thank you. Um, Carlando posted a video on the Quadrant YouTube channel that is essentially it's um Carlos and Lando driving go-karts, and they start in the 1950s all the way through 2026, and they each do a lap. Like they switch off every other.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and they end with their own go-karts, which was fun, and they have like their branded racing suits, which Lando's looked so sick. So sick. The two, which is like not that Carlos didn't, no, but Lando's branding is just so good.
SPEAKER_00I think we've talked about this before. The blob branding is just incredible.
SPEAKER_01Like if you appreciate branding or logos at all, like Lando's is so good.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to the Ellen for Lando crew. Yeah, really killing it over here. Very distinct. Like, you know, that's Lando when you see the blobs. So good. Um, but it was a great video. I would say it's just fun.
SPEAKER_01It's like 20 minutes.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, we will literally watched it today. I don't think I really had any other notes on it, other than it was just a good fun watch.
SPEAKER_01The only other thing that I would say is they did call themselves Carlando, which I thought was cute. Because it was like a breaking the fourth wall kind of situation. Oh, they're best friends, yeah.
SPEAKER_00They're besties, they love to golf and hang out with each other. Um, oh, well, we can't get it through an episode without mansioning mansioning. Mansioning, I like that. Sounded Southern. Um, mentioning our friend Danny Rick.
SPEAKER_01Friend of the pod.
SPEAKER_00Hopefully, friend of the pod. He was on the I think it's the Ford Racing podcast with Jim Farley, the CEO of Ford um oh, Drive with Jim Farley. He's the Ford CEO, and he was talking about his retirement. And a quote that was said from him was from Daniel was, I was grateful that they made the decision for me.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Which is kind of sad, but like so understandable.
SPEAKER_01He was so positive on the podcast. It was a quick podcast, and they talk, it's like they talk about how he got started, they talk about like how racing feels, which is cool. And then they talked about like on the other side how he felt about it. And he was describing how he felt like he had more left in him, but he just wasn't performing, obviously. So it was tough having friends and family that were like, you should keep going, like this is your thing. And then obviously he had gotten he he even said it. He's like, I got fired to put it plainly, like two times in two years. So like it was time to move on.
SPEAKER_00I I think ultimately, now that we see him on the other side, it was the right decision. But I think again at the time I I don't even think I finished that race because I was watching it and then I had seen the news before I actually had finished it.
SPEAKER_01No, you didn't.
SPEAKER_00You keep yeah, you said you hadn't finished that. Maybe have to go back. Maybe we'll have to if we're in a the mood for a good cry, we can go back and we'll see what happens with Max. That might be we can just yeah, but yeah, I I think again, Ris I'm glad he has that perspective now. I'm again he was I mean, he's still relatively young considering.
SPEAKER_01I mean, I'm still holding out for NASCAR.
SPEAKER_00Aren't we all? Aren't we all? I don't know if that's everyone's allowed to change their mind, right? He says like he's done with racing, but you never know. I think he's having fun in every like forward video that I see.
SPEAKER_01He's also selling his um oh what what I think it's an Aston Martin. Is it an Aston Martin? I was gonna say, and then I was like, Alfa Romeo? That's not right. Aston Martin, like the classic like 86, like I don't know, it's a crazy looking futuristic car. Uh for like I think of the auction starting at like three or four million or something crazy. What? Yeah. Okay, Danny, get that money. Yeah, and the and the person that I was uh reading the post from was like, it's probably gonna go for more of your car like freak. Like, this is the car.
SPEAKER_00I think it was like a specialty color, like blue badger, badger blue. Yeah, something like for the honey badger, yeah. Yeah, incredible. So we'll we'll follow that, see how much it sells for. I'm now just thinking that Veltry Botas should have named his uh badger Danny.
SPEAKER_01Daniel.
SPEAKER_00Missed opportunity.
SPEAKER_01I mean, Nigel is a good name. No, it's a great name, but yeah, I agree.
SPEAKER_00That would have been fun. His fellow Australian. Um I'm like, speaking of Daniel Ricardo, you can you take this one.
SPEAKER_01Uh, okay, so Christian Horner was going wild on Instagram, basically.
SPEAKER_00I don't know what yeah. We don't think he's okay. I know. He's the videos he posted, he has already posted. But essentially the first one he let off with, which makes sense somewhat why he posted it, but not really. But it was a video of GP playing the drums at like this must have been some gathering at Christian's house many moons ago. Yeah, and it looked fun, but it's so fun.
SPEAKER_01We've seen it before.
SPEAKER_00We've seen it before. So it goes to GP, and then it's like Danny singing on his own, like wagon wheel, his like favorite karaoke song. And then it's like Danny Pier, Max, and a couple other gentlemen singing um Spice Girls. Spice Girls. I can't recall what song. I don't remember either, but yeah, they're like karaokeing Spice Girls, and it was like just out of the blue, yes, and then Stefano Domenicali, the president or the CEO of Formula One playing guitar. So talented. So but why are you posting this now? Again, I think it was because he was like, Oh, GP, like leaving Red Bull, but yeah, I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't think he's okay.
SPEAKER_00Check on this show. Well, you know what? You're unwell. He's probably very unwell, no. Again, maybe he's great. I maybe he's the opposite. He's like, the team is falling apart. Yeah, he's like, I'm having a great time. Well, because we've been talking about how like Jonathan Wheatley has left Red Bull, Christian Horner, Helmet Marco, GP is leaving, um, there was someone else and a couple other people as well. Oh, Adrian Newey.
SPEAKER_01Adrian Newey, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um so the gang is not back together and is slowly leaving, crumbling. Slowly crumbling.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it'll be interesting to see what ends up happening. Like it kind of feels like a new start. Like if if Max does end up leaving or going to a different team, it will feel like a complete new start. Like they might scoop up another top driver, like an Oscar or uh Carlos.
SPEAKER_00I think because of when we started watching Formula One or when Drive to Survive started, we just so wholeheartedly associate Max Verstappen with Red Bull.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely, but but think about like Lewis, like he was always Mercedes. True. And now he's now he's at Ferrari. Yeah, so I don't know. It's just the team has such an interesting background from specifically Christian Horner. It's very interesting to see what what route is gonna go down. Yeah. Would highly recommend listening to the acquired episode on F1. So good. We both listened to it, it is very long, it's like four hours, but it's so worth it. And it goes into kind of like how Christian Horner changed the game in F1. Yeah, from like a marketing and strategy and perspective, and just br bringing people in and like drive to survive and all those things. So super smart strategy. We will keep our eyeballs on it when you think about it.
SPEAKER_00Like we can kind of thank Christian for Drive to Survive, which in turn brought in us and all of these new fans.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Wow.
SPEAKER_01We would never know that Danny Rick was a person.
SPEAKER_00No, and how sad of an existence. Wow. Our moods wouldn't be dominated by cars and how they place. Yeah. What a world. What a world.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so moving on to other little bit of this is sort of news, sort of hot gossip, but Lance had his first little side quest this weekend with GT3. And qualifying was today, remind me the name of the track, because I already left my brain. Paul Ricard. Paul Ricard. Okay. So we are delving into GT3. We don't, we are one of those, you know, I'm gonna quote Reddit, brainless F1 fans. So we're trying to keep up here. But qualifying for GT3 is different than F1 in the way that there's so many cars and there's multiple drivers for each car. So there's three different qualifying sessions that are 15 minutes each. And the way I understand it, not always all of the cars participate, but each driver from each car participates, and then they round the average fastest lap time for each driver per car. So Lance, when we looked, it wasn't completed yet, but Lance's team was like P15. Yeah. So we'll see. And there's different levels. So like Max's, like for Stapin Racing, is a pro cup team.
SPEAKER_00I think the Lance and Max's teams were pro cup teams. But there's like bronze cup, gold cup, silver cup, yeah. That would be sex.
SPEAKER_01Wolf track. I think no, I think that's right. But we but we are learning, we are delving in, so we will probably throw in some more GT3 info because it's interesting and it seems fun. It's like seems like a little bit more of like a like a NASCAR F1 mix. There's a rolling star, the the cars are a little bit more durable, they can like bump into each other a little bit more.
SPEAKER_00I'm now having a realization that what if the best driver in Formula One. And arguably the worst hyperinformable. End up GT3 together.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Maybe all of this like chatter about Lance Stroll. Oh, I sent you the F1, the F1, the average F1 consumer guy. Oh. And his Lance Stroll video. Yes. I'll have to repost it on.
SPEAKER_00So funny.
SPEAKER_01Because it was basically like everyone dogs Lance, but he's actually like not a bad driver. No. But he has been a bad driver the last couple seasons.
SPEAKER_00I think it's a combination of things. He just seems so um what's the word I'm looking for? Apathetic. Complacent. Yeah. Great. Both great words.
unknownOh.
SPEAKER_00We're doing good. We're doing good. We're doing good. Um, well, moving on to again, we're on quote unquote spring break for Formula One. So the drivers are out and about.
SPEAKER_01Other sports sighting.
SPEAKER_00Oh, yeah, yeah. Other sports sightings. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, so we saw the pairing. That was Pierre and Estee Bestie um at the UEFA Champions League quarterfinal match between Paris Saint-Germain and Liverpool. And Isaac was also there with, I think Pierre and Esteban, but then Lando was off on his own doing his own thing. The champion that he is. But for those of you that might be newer to Formula One and don't know the lore, that is Esteban Ogon and Pierre Gasly, is they grew up in Normandy together and were I think BS. They were Estee besties. And some drama happened, and then all of a sudden they truly were arch enemies. And when they were on Alpine together, tensions were high. It was never clear what actually happened. We don't know, we have no idea what what actually came between them. One alleged theory floating around is that maybe they liked the same girl. But I don't know.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Yeah, who knows? But because both of them now have like blonde relationships.
SPEAKER_00Well, and again, they were both on the podium in that rainy race high a couple years ago. I can't remember. Brazil? I think it was Brazil. But I I think they like that was like such a sweet moment they shared together. So maybe they've kind of buried the hatchet a bit, but this seems very PR that they're like sitting next to each other at this point.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, because we didn't really get any like football game content of them like actually hanging out. Like they like we just saw like snapped photos.
SPEAKER_00Yes. So who knows? And then the second sports sighting outing was Ollie, Gabby, Alex, and then I forgot that Oscar was also there too.
SPEAKER_01GR and Carmen. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_00Yes, they were there separately.
SPEAKER_01The Duchess was with Carmen separately.
SPEAKER_00Um, but they were at the Monte Carlo Masters, makes sense. They all live in Monaco. Um, but they were seen with both the number one and number two tennis players um ranked by the ATP, that it's Yannick Center and Carlos Alcaraz.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00That's pretty much it. That's they were like cute interactions.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, they were having a really good time, it seemed like, and Yannick Center apparently is like a bestie of all these guys.
SPEAKER_00He Yannick Center loves F1. When Kimmy won his race, he like shouted him out. Oh, cute. Yeah, it was really cute. Oh yes. So he was showing up for his sweetie little Italian Kimmy and Tanelli. Little choker. Yeah. Um, but yeah, Yannick Center has done that a couple of times. He's like a big F1 fan, which I love.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we love that.
SPEAKER_00Um, we love professional athletes supporting other professional athletes. Um, I think that's it. Um, I think we're gonna go into a very brief Drive to Survive recap.
SPEAKER_01Yes.
SPEAKER_00We were gonna go episode by episode, but I I don't know if we need to. I we watched this a couple weeks ago.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and if anyone has yet to get to season eight and drive to survive, do not listen to this.
SPEAKER_00Spoiler alert. Yeah. It's funny to say spoil spoiler alert because this happened a year ago and it's like real life. But at the same time, too, I want to respect those. Yeah, no, definitely.
SPEAKER_01Want to catch up. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, overall impression, Rachel. Um, yeah, and again, I think this will be different for you, but as a someone who has watched Formula One, I think this is my fifth season, that I don't know if it it's giving me what I want. But it's like I almost like know too much at this point. I just feel like they normally they like ramp up the drama, but I feel like they didn't do that with Oscar, Lando, and Max. I thought they would ramp it up more. In fact, I feel like it felt more dramatic in real time than it did in the episodes. And then you said a good point earlier. For legal reasons, they didn't do a deep dive into Christian Horner getting fired, but that makes sense. I think that there's probably some stipulations on that that we're not aware of.
SPEAKER_01It's like they tried, yeah, but they didn't it didn't hit.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, it didn't hit like we wanted.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, I don't know. It just when you're watching it in real time, I feel like, and you it just feels so much more I don't know, dramatic.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Well, and and the other thing, and we didn't talk about this in our last episode. But when you're following your favorite team and your favorite driver, Netflix, the acquired episode goes into a little bit about Drive to Survive, which was really interesting. Yeah, but apparently Netflix doesn't get to like choose which teams, choose which races, or choose which paddocks. So they get to like they have to kind of like cobble a storyline together. And this last season, it was so close.
SPEAKER_00And that's probably so hard when you're like trying to do the story.
SPEAKER_01And if you think about it, the season ends in December. They put it out right before the next season. So, like, what was it, the the middle end of February? Yeah. So it was a quick turnaround for like that kind of production quality. True. So they kind of have to create this like a Friday shine of what it is. So you'll see in a lot of the episodes, they they do the first episode go through the Australian GB, but a lot of them it's like little bits of other races that they kind of it sort of makes sense, but you're kind of like, Why are we watching this right now? When like Oscar and Lando were battling, or Max was like doing his, you know, Max thing. Yeah, so so I agree with you on that. It didn't really give me what I wanted either. However, I'm as a newer fan, I really enjoyed the like recap part of it. Yeah, and some of the races I didn't watch live. So I mean that was fun for me.
SPEAKER_00Because you came in August. Yes. And I mean, I will say, like, I know people's cons about it too is that it's overly dramatic. So I understand that perspective too. Like, you don't want to create drama where there wasn't it.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, but I do agree with you where there was drama that they didn't hardly touch on.
SPEAKER_00Right. So I don't know. Again, I the I will say there were still some honestly, probably mostly what we're gonna talk about in the next like 10 minutes is just like the funny moments that we really enjoyed.
SPEAKER_01The stuff that we like remember.
SPEAKER_00Because that's the fun part is and that's why we all fell in love with this sport based off of Drive to Survive, right? Is that you're getting to see your driver, your favorite driver's personalities or getting to know driver's personalities so you can pick your favorite. Again, we talked about your max journey.
SPEAKER_01You had it, yes, my max journey. But you had a good point too about how, like, with all the rookies, maybe it will feel kind of like how it felt when we first started watching it.
SPEAKER_00True. Maybe next season they'll start focusing on the rookies more. It could again, like, it could go one of two ways. One, like, the rookies don't really know how to act when the cameras are around, so they're gonna be more authentic and genuinely themselves.
SPEAKER_01Shout out to Ollie Bearman.
SPEAKER_00Shout out to Ollie Bearman, who is definitely not media trained. Um, love you. That was so stupid. Um be who you are, is what I was trying to say. We we need to be authentic. Do it, do it, do it. But, or it's like, are the other drivers gonna tell them, like, hey, like, watch out for these Netflix cameras? Like, don't say too much. But oh my god, we didn't even talk about last time George Russell's commentary with the like sex kid in the hotel room and how did we forget about that?
SPEAKER_01There was so I felt like that was half the episode. We just like moved on.
SPEAKER_00We know that's so funny. Well, we can kind of talk about we're not gonna go into any particular.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so let's say um, what was your favorite part of Drive to Survive? I'm going off script. So no, I love this.
SPEAKER_00I I think well, you know what I mean. Season eight. Season eight. Yeah, true. Yeah, minnow make it just this season.
SPEAKER_01I think you're gonna say Yeah, what do you think I'm gonna say? Lando winning.
SPEAKER_00Oh, well, yeah. But you weren't gonna say that? No. What were you gonna say? I mean, it was still Lando related. It's Lando and Oscar's commentary. Oh, yeah, yeah, that's so good. When they're at the 75 or F-175 Livery Reveal car launch livery reveal, and Lando and Oscar are chatting, and their it, their commentary with the Ferrari was freaking hilarious. Because they're like, What color do you think the car is gonna be? And they're like, Oh my god, it's red. Yeah, and they were like, I was gonna say that too.
SPEAKER_01I was gonna say that.
SPEAKER_00And then the car launch was epic, like overall, so epic. Yeah. Well, and then Lando was like, it looks like they spilled yogurt on it.
SPEAKER_01Yogurt, and and then, yes, now we have a theory that all British boys like yogurt.
SPEAKER_00Well, because in the episode where they're on, it's like Zach and Lando on the plane, and they're eating sushi, and apparently Lando is a particular eater. He's like gagging. Yeah, at the sushi. It looked delicious. Yeah, it looked great, like in a cute little box. And Zach Brown just like hoofing it in. Well, and then Lando brings out his yogurt, and it's like a giant ball giant vat of yogurt. Well, then that made me think of Brittany Broski's royal court, and she just had Harry Styles on, and she was asking, like, what's your hidden talent? And he's like, I can eat a lot of yogurt. Which, God bless him, God bless him. And so that's when we decided the theory is like, do all British boys.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we want to know if G, if George Russell, I was trying to say GR. I have such a hard time saying that. If George Russell and Louis and Ollie and Ollie do y'all eat a lot of yogurt? Do y'all eat a lot of yogurt? Is what we that's what we need to know.
SPEAKER_00These are the hard-hitting questions that we need.
SPEAKER_01I'm wondering.
SPEAKER_00Uh, but yeah, so that was a funny moment. And then the last part of their like commentary about the Ferrari reveal was when the the presenter was asking Charles like what oh his word for the year was, and he said fulfillment. And Lando and Oscar are like, there's fulfillment, there's no way he chose that word on his own. Like, who told him that? And then they're like, I think Lando was saying he probably was practicing like fulfillment, fulfillment, fulfillment. Like, that's my word. I gotta remember, I gotta remember how to say it. Um, so that was probably my favorite part. That was what was yours? Um episode two.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, of course. Strictly business had a whole situation in Flavio's house. So we got like, we got to see the inside of his house, the fru the fresh flowers everywhere, which you pointed out. Oh my god, insane.
SPEAKER_00I think he needs to have an episode of open door architectural digest.
SPEAKER_01Yes, we need an arch digest.
SPEAKER_00But it'll be like bad. It'll yeah, no, no, just to be clear, it's like insane. It almost seemed like, forgive me, this is generalization, but like New Jersey tacky.
SPEAKER_01You know what I mean? Yes, it it is so he had like these bear statues that were gold, but they were light. So he was like pushing on them and they were like moving them around. His glasses, his sunglasses were on like a tray. He had a piece of artwork that was just like oh yeah, Andy Warhol. Yeah, it was like Andy Warhol colors, but it was his face, like Flavio's face.
SPEAKER_00And it was who has their own face like that on artwork? It's different if you have photographs, Flavio Briatori.
SPEAKER_01That's right. I mean, he it was insane. Like that, I texted Rachel when I was watching it originally, like the very first. I was like, Rachel, episode two, gotta wait from your dream. It was so ridiculous. So that was my favorite.
SPEAKER_00That was a good portion of that episode. Well, and so that episode was comparing Flavio to Jonathan Wheelie and the juxtaposition between those two men.
SPEAKER_01The sweetest man in the whole world. Like, I would work for him in two. Would die for Jonathan Wheelie.
SPEAKER_00I need to pull up some of my quotes that he said because they were just like too good. But I I do think that he sounds like either he should be in um Harry Potter, like a professor at Hogwarts, or in like the Hobbit. Like he's so like soft-spoken, yeah. British.
SPEAKER_01Yes, he's just so sweet. He, I was telling Rachel I saw uh Florence in the machine, and she's like that. Like she sings like so just like strong and wonderful and powerful. And then when she talks, she's like, Thank you, Minneapolis. And she like prances around, and you're like, Who are you? Like, I love you, fairy queen.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, yeah, redheaded fairy queen. Yes. Um, but okay, so I found the couple of his quotes, but one was don't confuse kindness with weakness, which I love. Yeah, I totally relate to that leadership style. Great quote, and then the other one was when Nico got his P3 and he just said on the radio, You've del you've just delivered what you have always been capable of, which is like so I know that was that was a good, that was a good little moment for the show. So again, like Jonathan Wheatley, like come back, yeah.
SPEAKER_01We need to know what you're doing. We need you, we're fans, we need you, sir. Um, the other thing I really liked overall in Drive to Survive in general, but especially this season, is Williams. I really just love the Williams' whole storyline. James Vowels is great, and they really made him like he sees this vision and he grabs Carlos and they're like doing this thing together. And Carlos had his two podiums, and like that whole storyline is really great.
SPEAKER_00I know, and I said earlier, I'm like, why aren't we fans of Williams? We like Williams, we like Williams, but like why aren't we on board? Because they don't do because they need to do better.
SPEAKER_01It's just like Cadillac, like we're in the wings waiting to be Cadillac.
SPEAKER_00She's not more than me, but okay. But I will I'm waiting in the wings. I will support an American team. I she wants her yogurt. Oh my god. No, I need them to have Colton Herda. Yes, waiting in the wings. So no offense to Checo or Valtry, but I mean we need a different new driver in the mix for Cadillac, and then I'll probably be like, I mean, they're figuring their let Checo and Valtry. But Cadillac, American team, American gals here um on this podcast, like we would absolutely be so proud to represent your team at a Grand Prix.
SPEAKER_01Absolutely interview your drivers, yeah, or anytime. Just here in the studio.
SPEAKER_00Um same with Red Bull Racing. We would go to Detroit. We're not that far away. No Ford. Don't we're yeah, we're nearby.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_00Um, but yeah, I think that's a good call out.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. Yeah. We love Williams. We wish they did better.
SPEAKER_00Um, I think you also love McLaren. Uh speaking of Americans, um Zach Brown. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01So one of my lows from the Oh, that's a low? Zach Brown is a cringe.
SPEAKER_00I love how I like took a second to react to that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he is the vi he is an he is one of my icks. And I'm not saying I dislike Zach Brown. I want to be clear he came from, I don't want to say nothing, but he like worked his way to where he was.
SPEAKER_00He won his money in jeopardy, and you said like bought his first go-kart or invested his money.
SPEAKER_01He has worked so hard, and he is like an obvious marketing genius. Genius and does a lot for his team, cares about his drivers, loves racing. So I don't dislike Zach Brown, but oh my god, in this season, they made him be like the doofiest American in the entire world, and I cannot handle it.
SPEAKER_00He does come off like so traditionally, tragically American. Oh my god. Speaking of like Zach Brown and then tennis, is they had um Djokovic like giving him tennis.
SPEAKER_01And Zach Brown says something doofy, like, yeah, this guy teaches me the little guy like this, and then it p hands over him, and you're just like, What is wrong with you? You're so awkward.
SPEAKER_00Well, and then our favorite part is Hi Lando, this is Zach. Is this the World Championship Hotline? So bad. You know what also makes me think of is like that uh, what's that Drake song, Hotline Bling for some reason?
SPEAKER_01That just makes me think of Hotline. That needs to go on the Lando playlist.
SPEAKER_00Oh my god, yes, it should go on the Lando playlist. Um, Apple Music, loving the fact that you're doing driver pre-like warm up warm-up playlists. Yeah. So they have Ollie, Esteban, and Isaac, but would love a Lando on my run today.
SPEAKER_01I did four miles, and each mile I did a different driver playlist, but it was on Spotify and it was just like people making playlists. So one of them was uh George Russell Vibes. Ooh.
SPEAKER_00And that was like Oh, yeah, you said that was horrible.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, it was it wasn't his playlist that he posted because that thing was awful.
SPEAKER_00Oh, it wasn't his.
SPEAKER_01No, it was another one that was still not great. I it was just a mile. Then I switched over to one called POV You're Dating Lewis Hamilton, which was actually really great. Like the first one was Starboy, yeah, and that one was fun, and then I did um Lando, and his was like it started with um Taylor Karma. Oh, it started with Karma, yes, and then it was like Maneater.
SPEAKER_00Oh, another for Tato?
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so like so like Yeah, so like that, and then the last one I did was just one called Formula One Vibes, which is just like a fun, fun playlist. I'm like, should we make a playlist? I think maybe. Oh my god, that's a great idea.
SPEAKER_00Like, that's fun. If you guys are interested, we could make an F1 inspired running playlist. Or just like running playlists in general.
SPEAKER_01We'll just do it if you're not interested in.
SPEAKER_00We're just gonna do it anyway. I actually probably need to make a new running playlist as we are approaching our marathon prep. I need something. I've been, of course, like so absorbed in a couple of very specific albums, but I need all of them to be together in one playlist.
SPEAKER_01Yes, which that accounts.
SPEAKER_00Um I don't know how we got there.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, sorry.
SPEAKER_00No, no, no, no, you're fine. I think we've already talked about George a couple of times, but I think it was hilarious when they were talking about the skincare brand, and he said the first batch smelled like semen. Yeah, which then we'd advertise it.
SPEAKER_01And then they had the episode, which he even said that he's like, that's probably not good advertising. Like, no, and then um then yeah, the sex toy. Oh my god, yes. I forgot that like both of those happened, and he was talking about that with Todo. Yes, like very comfortably, like they were just like, Yeah, you know, women need this, and I don't remember exactly. Oh, he said, I know how to please a woman, and I was like, Oh no.
SPEAKER_00Oh, George. Oh no. He I can end that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, anyway, anyway.
SPEAKER_00I just truly love how he was like the commentator of the season. Yes, like he was almost the Will Buckston. He was the Will Buxton. So, George, keep up the great work. Like, he was commentating so seriously.
SPEAKER_01He has to be good to interview because he's so serious.
SPEAKER_00And like they must look so funny, kind of unintentionally.
SPEAKER_01Yes, which is why we love George. Yes, he is his own thing. He is the Duchess and that is what he is. And that's what he is. Yeah.
SPEAKER_00I was just looking through my no my notes that are so extensive. Um, I think the one of the only other things I want to mention, maybe something else will come up, but um the very, very end when they cram cram, crown Lando, the World Driver Champion. They play like I think it's with the rolling the end credits this week, Caroline video that is like not drive to survive footage. It is like from one of Lando's cell phones, and he's getting like raised up and he just so drunkenly singing.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and they're like celebrating so cute.
SPEAKER_00Well, we watched that episode, we watched the last episode together, and we're like, where did they get this? Yes, we were like someone had to sign off.
SPEAKER_01Who gave them this?
SPEAKER_00Lando.
SPEAKER_01Lando, which like, yeah, great. I mean, if I'd won a World Drivers Championship and it was that close, yes.
SPEAKER_00Oh, what would you be singing at the top of your lungs if you won a World Drivers Championship?
SPEAKER_01Okay, I think I know the answer to this. Miley Cyrus party in the USA. Oh, that's a really great one. What would you? I don't know. You don't have a celebratory song queued up if you mean no man eater.
SPEAKER_00This rotates. I might have to come back to this. I mean, my first reaction, just because I've been listening to it, is like a Joe song, but I like that's not like the most exciting.
SPEAKER_01Back in Chicago. Um, that's not like a no, it's not. I a pump up song. I mean a tail you like a Taylor song.
SPEAKER_00Oh, no, you know what it would be? What? It would be a Bruce Springsteen song. Oh, okay. Um I don't know which one. Maybe Born in the USA? Okay, I could see that. Maybe Glory Days?
SPEAKER_01Glory days, that'd be good. I mean, I could see Bruce being a good celebratory.
SPEAKER_00It would probably be a good karaoke song for sure. Yeah. But I Bruce is my initial reaction.
SPEAKER_01Okay. I like that.
SPEAKER_00We'll come back to you and smiley. I do no, but that that was my and you probably say like that was the anthem freshman year. Um, I anything else you want to mention?
SPEAKER_01I feel like we've I mean, listen, go watch, go watch the season. We're not gonna sit here and like harp on it. It's good, it's not like the actual depiction of everything that happens.
SPEAKER_00No, and we would rather have Drive to Survive than not have Drive to Survive.
SPEAKER_01And overall, if you are thinking that at any point you want to be an F1 fan, Drive to Survive is a really good way to get into it.
SPEAKER_00That's kind of how both of us and you have to start from season one. Yes. I know it's a long road to get to the end because there's eight seasons, but it is so worth it. You need to understand.
SPEAKER_01You have to get the Danny book.
SPEAKER_00The dogs are coming in, the dogs are coming in, which means on that note. We'll see you next Sunday.
