On Sundays We: A Formula 1 Podcast
On Sundays We Pod is a Formula 1 podcast hosted by Lexi and Rachel: two former coworkers turned running friends turned F1 co-hosts recapping every race weekend with hot takes, paddock drama, driver rivalries, strategy disasters, and FIA chaos.
What started as Rachel underselling Formula 1 quickly became an obsession with billionaire egos, team politics, Ferrari strategy pain, and emotionally investing in drivers who absolutely do not know we exist.
Each week, we break down F1 race results, qualifying drama, Formula 1 news, silly season rumors, team orders, and everything happening on and off the grid. Whether you’re a longtime Formula 1 fan or new to F1 from Drive to Survive, On Sundays We Pod makes Formula 1 feel like the internet’s messiest group chat.

This week the girls are diving into the latest Formula 1 news and the very loud conversation surrounding the possible return of V8 engines to F1. Get into what it could mean for the future of the sport, which teams and drivers might benefit most, and why the internet is suddenly nostalgic for the scream-y engine era again.
Plus: driver rumors, paddock hot goss, chaotic rich people behavior, iconic merch drops, mysterious updates from around the grid, and several moments that made us say “oh that’s interesting…” in the audio file group chat.
We also check in with Formula Run Club, compare Land-o-Lakes sponsorship delusion levels, and discuss the very confusing reality that Formula 1 drivers are not always the best dressed.
If you’re into Formula 1, F1 news, driver drama, race weekends, running content, and unserious commentary from two girls who spend way too much time thinking about motorsport, come hang out.

Hello hi!
SPEAKER_02Welcome to On Sunday's Wee a Formula One podcast. I'm Rachel. And I'm Lexi.
SPEAKER_01We're here. We're here. How's everyone this week? All of our friends. All of our 26. 20? 26 friends? 26 friends. Yes. Thanks for following along. Yes. Like, subscribe, give us five stars.
SPEAKER_02We did. I love that we're leading with that. We did talk about that. Please give us a review. We're really bad at talking about it because we're doing this for funsies. We are doing this for fun, but I think if we want more people to find the podcast, please rate it, review it. And we're very competitive. Yeah, we want to win. I don't know what winning means in this scenario.
SPEAKER_01We are winning. Yeah, we don't know what that means, but we would like to win.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, I love that we're just like, yep, leaving off with that. Yep, yep, yep, yep, yep. Um, but yeah, as always, thanks for your support. Hitting that at the top of the show instead of the bottom.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, on another note, Rachel has done very well with her notes, and she had an afternoon cold brew.
SPEAKER_02I am jacked up and ready to go. I Lexi posted quicks very quick stories on our Instagram. Number one, I should say this. My the video that we did about the yogurt, British boys liking yogurt. Yeah, we made it, guys. We made it. We made it. Um, if you didn't watch that, you should. But essentially, we were just joking. Lando likes yogurt. There is a Minnesota dairy brand called Lando Lakes. It is too perfect. And Lando Lakes commented on the love this.
SPEAKER_01Oh yeah. Ha ha ha, love this heart.
SPEAKER_02So shout out to Lando Lakes.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Lando Lakes. Uh, we like yogurt, we like butter. Rachel and I both bake. I'm just saying love the butter, honestly.
SPEAKER_02The European creamy one is like whatever it's called, is really delightful. The Kerrygold knockoff.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Not knockoff, because Lando Lakes is a supreme Midwest dairy brand. Supreme Midwest dairy brand. Who's Kerrygold? The Formula One of the butter, exactly.
SPEAKER_02Um, but anyway, all that to say, I was at US Bank Stadium last night for Lando Lando Mars.
SPEAKER_01Bruno Mars.
SPEAKER_02We got Lando on the brain. Bruno Mars and didn't get home and then had to work this morning. So I'm a little tired. And the reason why we brought up Lando Lakes, there was Lando Lakes advertisements everywhere at US Bank Stadium. So that's where those were coming from. That's why I'm so tired today, is and that's why I had the cold crew.
SPEAKER_01This is why, this is why I love Rachel. One of the so okay, I have to start with we've been fully voice noting each other, which we can't say voice note. We keep calling it audiobook, voice voicemail, like unhinged, completely unhinged. So we're audio messaging each other, and Rachel's like got home, had to have a little snack, and then I was up and then went to sleep. And that is what I love about Rachel. She loves a little snack.
SPEAKER_02I had a peanut butter and jelly, and it was homemade jelly that Ben actually made.
SPEAKER_01Oh, that's right. I know it was great. What kind of jelly?
SPEAKER_02Uh, it was a raspberry strawberry, it was a hybrid.
SPEAKER_01Oh, yeah. I love this. Yeah, don't worry about it. You know what that would be really good with? What? Lando Lakes butter on a piece of sourdough toast. Incredible. We haven't eaten dinner yet.
SPEAKER_02No, yes, we are trying to power through this so that we can eat our Jimmy Johns. So many not sponsored. Not none of this is sponsored, but we would take sponsorship. We love it, JJ's. This is already starting off so unhinged, and I love it.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so I mean, for a week without F1, I do think I was just fully engrossed in F1 things. I don't want to say we have a lot to talk about because it's not necessarily that a lot happened. No. But kind of a lot happened.
SPEAKER_02Again, in the space of the F1 Goss, like drivers out and about, there's there was a decent amount happening this week. So, but we'll start with news, which is Mohammed Ben Saleem confirms that F1 is going to switch to B8 engines by 2030 slash 2031.
SPEAKER_01I feel like I need to insert like an air horn sound. Or like pour water on your head like he did to Kimmy.
SPEAKER_02Like he did to Kimmy. Oh, that man.
SPEAKER_01But yes, very exciting. Um so I guess what does this mean for us?
SPEAKER_02Well, so I guess the reason why he's saying 2031 is that they actually the FIA won't need any votes from the power unit manufacturers, which means that hopefully it'll be easier for the FIA, or it shouldn't be a problem for the FIA to make this happen. But they're saying 2030 because they think that everyone will most likely be on board with this change.
SPEAKER_01And from what I I know I did not put this in our notes. This is me in my brain just kind of working overtime here. But from what I remember as a new fan, uh Audi had a really big part in the whole like 50-50 engine. Yes. And something about they wanted to make the current F1 engine more like a like an actual streetcar, which obviously everyone's kind of preferring, like hybrid for obvious reasons.
SPEAKER_02Totally. So yes, uh, Lex is so right. The reason, and I think we've been talking about it, a number of podcasts are talking about it, but yes, they wanted to go the way that road cards are going, which was more hybrid. And the reason why they attracted Audi and I think even like Ford coming back into the game is because of the hybrid engine. So it's going to be really interesting to see kind of what happens because I also don't think that hybrids have gone the way that car manufacturers have thought that they were going to in terms of like everyone having them on the roads. I don't think that that you have a hybrid?
SPEAKER_01I don't. Do you? No, but John does. He does. It is so slow, it's the slowest thing I've ever driven. But I don't know how the drivers feel. Yeah, I hate it. But I have an Audi, so and it's not a hybrid. Unsponsored.
SPEAKER_02It is fully premium gas, which I drive right now. Yeah, no, mine's a little Honda Civic. That's on its last leg.
SPEAKER_01Probably faster than John's hybrid. Yeah, we should race.
SPEAKER_00We should we should bag race the straits.
SPEAKER_02Um bring the whip. Anyway, so yeah, so this has just created a lot of interesting discussion across the board. But so they had V8 engine, or so V8 or V10 engines engines seem to be revered as like the peak of Formula One, and V8s were used from 2006 to 2013, and then they moved into the hybrid engine era in 2014. I think most of us, if you came in Drive to Survive, this is all that we know is the hybrid engine era.
SPEAKER_01And if you listen to any kind of F1 creator content, everyone's like V8, V8, V8. Well, and I was like, Rachel, we should do a deep dive because like what is the big what is the big deal?
SPEAKER_02Well, the funny thing is the main thing I think if you're a motorsports fan, there's just something, and I I I think I've heard drivers talk about this, I've heard Danny Rick talk about it, but it's like this he Danny Rick always talks about loving the smell of fuel, which I think is so yeah funny, and that just seems to be something that the drivers, it's just like maybe it's nostalgic thing too. And then also the sound, yes, the sound. So, right, I think it's like the people miss the high pitched sounds of the V8.
SPEAKER_01I do, I'm vaguely remembering, I'll have to find it and share it on Instagram. There was a video where they were like, Hey, can you imitate an engine? And then they like the drivers were imitating the V8 engine.
SPEAKER_02Well, I think they can also like tell the difference. Yes, they can tell the difference of maybe the engines, but then also they can listen to the engines and tell you what track it is, which I think is crazy. That's insane. Because you the engine ch like the engines change sound if you're downshifting, right?
SPEAKER_01Upshifting, corner, I mean straight sound any different to me, but like if it was all I did, I can I mean even that like go-kart video we watched, I guess all those sounded different too. Obviously, oh yeah, with Lando and Carlos.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's true.
SPEAKER_01The go-karts different, but you know, same kind different but same. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02But the V8 engines are supposed to be simpler, lighter, louder, and more cost effective, so less developmental costs. And the curr hybrid engines are, I think we've realized this are overly complicated, and the battery is so large, which causes the cars to be really heavy and expensive, yes, yeah, very expensive, and again, that's because you're having to develop an entirely different kind of like hybrid engine situation.
SPEAKER_01Well, and you have to make the chassis a different, like much lighter, I would think, too.
SPEAKER_02Yes, to compensate for the amount of the battery. That's why I think people used are using so much more carbon fiber for the chassis than they normally would in previous iterations of we don't know a lot about mega jewels, but we do know that carbon fiber is light. Yes! I know I was like, we're talking like thank god we don't have to talk about mega jewels.
SPEAKER_01I think we should name this episode on Sundays. We do not talk about mega jewels.
SPEAKER_02On Sundays we do not talk about mega jewels. I will say another difference with this, so they used to use just like straight up like unleaded commercial grade.
SPEAKER_01That was back when they had to do like gas stops, right? I think so. And then they had to someone like caught on fire or something crazy. I don't remember which who that was. But do you know what I'm talking about? I'm sure there was a lot of fires.
SPEAKER_02Maybe look it up, Google it. But so they'll be running on a hundred percent sustainable fuels. So they're not entirely abandoning the sustainability that they have been trying to seek out. So I think that's gonna be a big difference. I and I again, we are not experts, but I was thinking I wonder if teams that have been more successful with like the engineering side and development piece will maybe still be success successful, but I think again, F1 is a team that is not just about the drivers. But I think having an engine like this is going to make it less about the engineering, because again, it seems less complicated to use a straight up V8 engine, and then it's gonna be more focused on the driver's skill set. Love. I don't know if that's correct or not, but that's where my mind went. So I'm like, oh shoot, is McLaren because they're doing so well, I feel like figuring out these engineering tactics and cars gonna be no because Lando has been so outspoken about not loving the reds.
SPEAKER_01True. I mean, Oscar, he he will probably be fine with anything. And McLaren has other racing cars, series, yeah, series, thank you. True, but they I I don't know. I feel like if you are a true racing team, I it you would be excited by this.
SPEAKER_02I agree, and everyone seems to be excited about it. I think Mercedes has been a huge push for hybrid engine, but Todo has been pretty outspoken that this is still positive.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, moving back to a V8. So Um I do love that Stefan Stefano Stefano Stefano Stefano uh was like everything is perfect. And then MBS is like, we going back to V8.
SPEAKER_02We're going back to V8, whether the power meaning. Yeah, like I don't care. I don't care. Like they're happy.
SPEAKER_01They're we're going back. I do think that is very entertaining and very F1 of them.
SPEAKER_02Very F1 of them. Very F1.
SPEAKER_01There's quite a bit of instances where there have been five. I believe it. Um one of Yast Penton!
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yas first to happen. Yes, uh 1994 German Grand Prix. Uh and that's the most infamous pit stop in history, it says. Apparently. Pit stop fire. Yeah. Fuel sprayed all over the car's bodywork and into the cockpit, instantly creating a massive fire. Oh my god. Of course, Yass uh was fine. He suffered minor burns. He's like, and and he just had that crazy crash.
SPEAKER_02He did the rally car cat crash. We never talked about that.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he had a crazy rally car crash.
SPEAKER_02He's like invincible. I think he has nine lives. I was gonna say they're cats. Like a cat. They're cats. Oh my god. My theory. New theory. First tapens are cats. First appens are cats.
SPEAKER_01Catch a reel coming soon. Don't worry. We got mini, mini lapel mics now. Our instant's about to go crazy. Um, and then there was one in '95, Eddie Irving. Um, while sitting in the pit box, his car erupted into flames during a scheduled refuel. So that was when they like had to refuel, I guess, at a certain time. Um, and then there was one in 2003, Schumacher. This one's also, if you look it up, um, immediately there were a ton of like videos about it. Um, but this was when he was with Ferrari and basically flames shot out of the fuel nozzle area while it was attached to his car. Oh. Which sounds delightfully Ferrari.
SPEAKER_02Sounds so Ferrari.
SPEAKER_01Like I can see the memes now.
SPEAKER_02Fireball Ferrari.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02It wasn't a fireball. That was different.
SPEAKER_01But Fire Ferrari. Fireball. Okay. Uh 20 or 2008, there was one in Silverstone. Uh 2009, Interlagos, and that had actually um two drivers involved. Um we're just looking at what it was like scary. Yeah. But yes, lots lots of fires uh for refueling. So now the drivers do not refuel during the race. So I guess that begs the question. Then if we're going back to V8s, are we gonna have to refuel again? Well, I was one, yeah. While we were reading all these horrifying fireball stories, I don't know. Well, they said they said 6040.
SPEAKER_02I do there is gonna be more of an electric hybrid component.
SPEAKER_01That was like downforce era electricity, I think.
SPEAKER_02So I think that we will still I guess Dury's out on refueling. We will get back to y'all on that. Yeah, maybe not, but who knows? I was also thinking that if maybe this will create more of an even playing field amongst the teams, if you don't have to do as much intensive engineering with the engine.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and it's not as expensive.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yes, cost cutting Williams. I know, here we go. 2030, Carlos. Cadillac. Will you still be around? Caddy. Which I didn't put in here. Oh, we need to talk about. Well, I'll we'll we'll circle back. We'll circle back. We'll talk.
SPEAKER_01I wish everyone could we have to start recording video recording is our facial expression. I'm like, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02I'm like, oh I put this in here, and I'm sure you already saw it, Lex, but Lex will be happy to hear that Red Bull was a dominant force during the V8 era era, winning four World Drivers Championship and constructor titles.
SPEAKER_01Yes, it's a little SEB action.
SPEAKER_02Yes, 2010 through 2013. Seb Vettel and Red Bull racing. Yeah. Uh and of course, oh, maybe this is foreshadowing. Lewis Hamilton was 2008, but Ferrari won the constructors. And then Jensen Button was 2000. I'm jumping all over the place, but Jensen Button was 2009, that was the Braun era, the Braun GP team. And then Kimmy Raikkonen, not to be confused with Kimmy Antonelli, um, won in 2007 in a Ferrari, and Ferrari won the Constructa. Oh, and then 2006, Fernando Alonzo was the winner for Renault.
SPEAKER_01Driving a Renault. Was that with I know I'm the one that did the research on that, but that was with our boy, right? Flavio?
SPEAKER_02I think that was with Flavio. Yeah, yeah. Catch our deep dive, or Lex's deep dive on uh Flavio. I'm a couple episodes. He's so crazy. He's so crazy. Crazy. That amazing. Oh god. Cut this out. Cut this out.
SPEAKER_01Dadder, debut her, deader.
SPEAKER_02So anyway, Red Bull coming for a comeback. Who knows?
SPEAKER_01Who knows? I I think, and maybe I'm biased, but the cat's got nine lives and he's coming back.
SPEAKER_02Well, and I think we this is a good segue to talk about it, and it's more F1 gossip, but it does sound like there is some real chatter about Max going to McLaren and Oscar going to Red Bull.
SPEAKER_01The silliest of seasons already. And it's yeah, it ain't even August. How many, how many races do we have until actual silly season? Where is that? Oh, our calendar. Our relic.
SPEAKER_02We're gonna see. We're gonna look any.
SPEAKER_01Okay, so so if you if this is your first time watching a full season, there is a required break. And it is required. Like they literally have to submit to their electric bills to make sure that no one's working. No wind. That's funny, I didn't know that. Yeah, no wind tunnels. Yes, oh sure. No wind tunnels at the factory. No, it's seven races. Okay, we have seven races until actual silly season. And then we've talked about silly season, I'm pretty sure.
SPEAKER_02We have, yeah. It's just essentially a lot goes down in the downtime. They're not working on the cars, it's getting towards the end of the season. People's contracts might be up. So all of a sudden there's all this chit chatter.
SPEAKER_01And we have a lot of potential contracts up, and like maybe Fernando retiring. Yes. I know he keeps saying he wants like a good car, but boy, you're turning 50 soon. Like I'm not turning 50. No, I think he is. He's like 40. I thought he was like 46 or 47. Is he? Yeah. We're just another.
SPEAKER_02We're looking it up. We're looking it up. Oh, it literally came up the first search. 44.
SPEAKER_01Oh, okay. Well, maybe. Maybe we won't see the uh the V8 with Fernando.
SPEAKER_02I mean, that's still that is older for a racing car driver in this time frame. Think about we got Kimmy at 19 years old. Actually, Arvid's 18, I think. So like Fernando could be Arvid's dad.
SPEAKER_01Maybe he is. I don't know. Maybe he is. No one knows. I mean, someone knows. Someone knows. I mean, like listening, being like, what?
SPEAKER_02So but yeah, we'll see. I again that is that is rumors beyond. Yeah. But I mean, if you think about it, if GP's going to McLaren, Max You can't. Despite Zach saying that they're happy with their duo, who would ever pass on Max first?
SPEAKER_01The other rumor I keep hearing is that he will go to Mercedes and that George will go to a McLaren. I don't know how I feel about that. I don't either. It feels weird, right? It feels really weird. The only place I can see George going is Aston Martin, and they have too bad of a car. Unless he wants to Carlos signs it and like make the team better or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't know how well that's working at this point in time.
SPEAKER_01Daddy Vals is really letting us down.
SPEAKER_02I and I just believe in him so much. I'm let down. No, I feel like I he's like Ted Lasso, you know? Like I would follow that man.
SPEAKER_01I would eat his biscuits every morning. Yes. I don't know what I thought you were gonna say. Oh, you were dirt. No, not that kind of daddy.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, but I that's Toto.
unknownOkay.
SPEAKER_02But I'm like, I would tap and tape up that believe sign if Daddy Bowels made it, you know?
SPEAKER_01My mine's in the gutter now. We gotta be like why are you tapping, Rachel?
SPEAKER_02We moving on. Anyway, that's pretty that is such a brief summary about without diving into like horsepower and other things. I just we couldn't handle that today. No, we wanted it to be not boring. And make sure that we really understood it in the simplest of terms because that's helpful for us. So hopefully that's helpful for you.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. 26 of you will appreciate that, I think. And you will rate five stars and subscribe and like and follow us on Instagram and TikTok.
SPEAKER_02Wow, Lex is just gonna keep really organically plugging that in throughout. I love it. Well, we were talking about maybe George going to Aston Martin.
SPEAKER_03Mm-hmm.
SPEAKER_02Speaking of, Adrian Newey was hospitalized and things are very vague. Yeah. All I want I all that really says is he had in quotes about of illness. Which sounds so British. And it sounds like he's fine now. He was hospitalized for a couple days, maybe, and is now mostly working from home. He was on campus last week. And I think the last time he was at a race was Australia. And I don't know when he's gonna be back in a full-time capacity at races again.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I didn't even realize he wasn't in Miami or I didn't either. I didn't either. How did we miss that? I guess that it's I mean, you know, they show him.
SPEAKER_02He's not a team principal anymore. He's just doing his thing.
SPEAKER_01I mean, sorry, Adrian, but like you really gotta turn up the heat, my friend. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I wonder if he got sick because he's so stressed about figuring out the car. Or maybe he just is like, eh, it's Lance. I don't know. Do you think his mind works like that? No. But I mean he carries around a little paper notebook and is writing in things it all the time.
SPEAKER_01Lance also seems like a very thoughtful guy, to be fair. So I can't see him not, you know, he's not a jerk.
SPEAKER_02I don't I just like wouldn't want to be on Lawrence's bad side, you know? No. Like that would be that would be arguably maybe worse than Flavio. Yeah, that's like a fear-based leadership situation. I shouldn't say that. I don't know, Lawrence Stroll, what your leadership style is.
SPEAKER_01But what but I what leadership style would he be if it's not fear-based? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Not democratic. What color would he be? True color would he be? That's a great question. I don't know. I don't know what to do.
SPEAKER_00Which one are you?
SPEAKER_02A blue, which is like harmonious.
SPEAKER_01I'm orange, which is like the kooky one. That's not true. This is the one that'll do whatever. Ask for forgiveness, not permission.
SPEAKER_02Love that. That actually really tracks that tracks. I don't know. I'm just gonna keep singing into the microphone. That's lovely today. Thank you.
SPEAKER_01Maybe we'll get a forget podcasting. We're gonna get a record deal.
SPEAKER_02Woo!
SPEAKER_01Taylor.
SPEAKER_02Hit us up. Uh okay, this stat appeared on one of my Instagram feed. One of my Instagram feeds. I have one Instagram. Oh, yes, we have two. We have two. We have two. Pod Insta. So on May 5th, we're it's currently May 14th. We are behind on recording this week. But on May 5th, it was the fifth day of the fifth month of the year, and it had been exactly 555 days since Ferrari's last Formula One victory. And the driver that had that victory was driver Carlos Sainz with the car number 55. That is a lot of fun.
SPEAKER_01I feel like Carlos. Oh, so you know the jokes about how like Christian Horner hired an Etsy witch for Red Bull? I feel like Carlos just legit had a witch do something to Ferrari because that is like too perfect. And also I love this because this means that someone somewhere, some little Tefosi, has a countdown of the last time there was a Ferrari win. And and it just keeps going. It's at their little altar with their like prayer came. And they're just praying that Kimmy Antonelli will go to Ferrari. You know it.
SPEAKER_02There are no rumors swirling about that, but I feel like there should.
SPEAKER_01I we're starting it. We've we've talked about it multiple times. Like, can you imagine Lewis retires?
SPEAKER_02Kimmy to Ferrari. Max goes to Mercedes.
SPEAKER_01Max and George are on the same team.
SPEAKER_02Oscar goes to Red Bull. Who goes to McLaren? Carlos. Carlos goes to McLaren. Yeah. And then a new driver goes to Williams.
SPEAKER_01I also feel like Alex needs a different little change up, but I don't know where he would go. I don't know either. Maybe Cadillac once they're good. I don't know. I could see that. I could see Liam being in Cadillac.
SPEAKER_02Liam. Because Liam is not American, but he is our most American boy on the grid. Yeah. For sure.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But yes, okay. So speaking of Carlos, and also that ends, concludes our actual news. So anything we say moving forward is not like it wasn't before. Opinion and hotgoss. Hotgoss. Hotgoss. Okay. Carlos. Out and about. And he looked like a daddy. Like, like the not James Bow's daddy, like the total wolf.
SPEAKER_02I typed this up and saw that there was just daddy next to the notes. And I was like, did I write that? No.
SPEAKER_01It was me. I had this open all week at work and just kept looking at it and adding in other words. Little commentary things. No, I love it. I think I'm gonna discover more throughout this. I can't wait. But yes, um, he looked great. Um, Rebecca, his girlfriend, was with him.
SPEAKER_02Well, so they were at the can con Cannes. Can I think it's Can Film Festival?
unknownI don't know.
SPEAKER_02They were at the Cannes Film Festival, walking the red carpet, and then Charles and Alexander were also there, and Carlos was there last year.
SPEAKER_01And this makes me think it was It was L'Oreal because Charles is newly a L'Oreal ambassador. Yes. And the other fun thing about all of this is Rebecca and a couple of the other wags were asked, like, who's the who's the best dressed driver? And all of them, of course, say their partner. And Rebecca says Carlos, and and he is not the best dressed. I'm sorry, Rebecca.
SPEAKER_02He looks nice, he might look better than he did before.
SPEAKER_01He literally looks like he dresses just like a dad, like a night, like a rich dad. He dresses like he plays golf. And he does. He plays golf. Yeah, and he's funny. I think that he truly like she buys clothes for him, and he looks good. He looked great on the red carpet. Rebecca, you always look amazing, impeccable. Um, but I uh what's funny about all of this is red flags was saying they were like, they didn't, they were like, oh my god, he's so not the best dressed. He's like the mid-tier, low tier. But Kelly said the same thing about Max. And Max is I I'm a big Max fan, as everyone knows, but he is 100% number 22 best dressed driver on the grid.
SPEAKER_02He's no number 22 skinny jeans.
SPEAKER_01Yes, who's worse than him?
SPEAKER_02No, it is a skinny jeans offender, and they're never, sorry, Max, never a great wash. They're like a weird whiskering.
SPEAKER_01Yes, no. It's like he has one pair of jeans.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I think he like needs he needs nicer jeans. There are some times where he's wearing some slightly baggier pants that I'm like, oh.
SPEAKER_01They have him on a photo shoot where he's not wearing his normal kit and jeans. In the Alpha Tari. Yes. Um, I also think that Kimmy Antonelli dresses horribly and wears that goddamn choker. Yeah, why isn't he you think Kimmy's better than Max?
SPEAKER_02Yes. But I guess also given Kimmy is 19 years old.
SPEAKER_01He also doesn't have a Kelly to dress him. Kelly, girl, get our boy some clothes.
SPEAKER_02If she's doing it, she's not implementing I mean, like, and who can get Max to do anything consistently that he doesn't want to do? Right. He's a cat.
SPEAKER_01He's a cat. Yeah. Do you know who else? This is kind of off topic. I love it. Looks really good, like has been dressing really well the last couple races. I'm trying to think who. Cheko. Oh, yeah. I mean, Valtery, like, he always looks cool. Lewis always looks cool. George has looked really good. They were red flags was kind of giving George some shade, but he's looked great.
SPEAKER_02No, I'm loving what I think is that bottega like woven, like suede jacket that he's rocking.
SPEAKER_01Yes. And we can all like Japan, he looked amazing. Like, he looks great. He's looking good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. He is looking good.
SPEAKER_01Oh, Watker also not not good. No.
SPEAKER_02Okay, okay. Kind of like golfer vibes. Well, and I was gonna say, speaking of looking good, the other thing is Carlos was on the cover of Vanity Fair Spain. And he did look good. Well, and I was just trying to Google, I can only I've only seen the cover photo. I haven't seen like the insert photos. That's Carlos. So the other thing is Carlos Alcaraz is maybe on just like the regular US van. Oh no. Oh no, he's on the regular Vanity Fair Spain. No, but I think. Okay, so all the Carlos's are on Vanity Fair. Apparently.
SPEAKER_01We should get one for Susan. We should try to find the Is that his butt? Or is that okay?
SPEAKER_02No, Carlos Alcaraz is on the cover of just a regular Vanity Fair. And then Carlos, that is his butt, but it's it's like he's on a flesh-colored clay suit.
SPEAKER_01He's on a clay court. Oh, yes, I did see that. Yes, yes.
SPEAKER_02This is actually kind of a sick photo shoot. I really looked at this.
SPEAKER_01I saw today, this is not F1 related, but I saw today because Harry Styles has a complete chokehold on my brain. And I made John watch his music video with me last night. I'm obsessed with it. People are hating on him. It's incredible. I love it. His dancing is like 12 out of 10. The song is so good. People think he's trying to.
SPEAKER_02This is fine. This is all real in relation to British boys like yogurt. So this is all relevant. He loves yogurt. Um no, people are saying that they don't like it and they it feels inauthentic. I feel like this is the most art authentic he's ever been. He doesn't give two fucks.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, he's having a great time. We have to put the explicit on. I didn't do it this time. Just kidding. Um Cold brew. Um, but no, it's so fun. His album is incredible. And I saw today that um Brad Pitt in 1999 did a photo shoot. I don't remember who the photo shoot was with, but he has on like a sequin dress and he has on like feminine clothes and he's like showing his muscles. He looks great. That is so hairy styles. So hairy styles, and also because people were bringing up um Connor's story and how he kind of is like yes, yeah, and love. Oh my god, he yeah, looks great. But anyway, Brad Pitt, hello. All the boomers who hate all of this love Brad Pitt. So and they love the F1 movie with Brad Pitt in it. Exactly.
SPEAKER_02It's all connected, it's all connected. See, we made we brought it back. I do need if we go to Harry Styles, I need to wear red silk satin shorts as part of the.
SPEAKER_01No, I I was like, I wish we had time. Rachel and I are running a 10-mile error in two days, and I really wish we had time for the channel. Oh my god! I don't know where we'd get some.
SPEAKER_02We should just do that for the marathon. Oh, good idea. Great idea. Okay, great, great, okay. Done and done. Done and done. Glad we talked about it. Speaking of dressing up, um, Alpine apparently might be ditching BWT and getting Scoochie?
SPEAKER_01Literally the best news that I ever could have ever Franco, boy. We are here. We've made it.
SPEAKER_02Isn't it coming true? This is solidifying your Alpine fan.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I think I sent you like five posts. I was like spamming Rachel. I was like, is this for real? It is not confirmed. No, it is not confirmed, but I got a Gucci vintage sweater in my newly, and it's like Pismet. Yes. Is it red? Yes. Oh, I saw that on the website. Yes, it's beautiful. Because you told me about it. I wore it at the green fryer with a shirt that said, I need a diet coke. Incredible. Yeah. Yeah. It was great. Anyway, but like Gucci. Gucci, the Mario, Franco.
SPEAKER_02I don't know about Franco, but.
SPEAKER_01Bye bye, pink car. No, Franco's so cute. He loves punch.
SPEAKER_02I will be sad to see the pink car go. There'll be another pink car. I F1 loves a pink car. And honestly, I don't know if I ever said this on the podcast, but if I I do really like Pierre Gasly. If there was another driver, like if an Alex Albon went to Alpine, I think that I would become an Alpine.
SPEAKER_01Why do we not like Franco?
SPEAKER_02I know why we don't like Kimmy. I don't know. I just it might be something similar.
SPEAKER_01Are you racist against Argentinians? No! What? No, not at all. I don't know. He's cute, he's nice, he loves punch, he is a decent driver. I think I maybe just don't know him that well.
SPEAKER_00Great. I can handle that. I can handle that.
SPEAKER_02I think that's my answer to anyone that I don't. Except for Kimmy. Well, has a documentary. I did, and we did watch that. So that's you know that everyone knows my thoughts on that.
SPEAKER_01What I'm hearing is Lexi, please send me more posts about Franco. Yeah. Because unfortunately, our podcast Instagram algorithm is all Alpine. Have you noticed this?
SPEAKER_02Yes. Oops. And maybe I'm about to change that. No, I'm just kidding. It's gonna be like all Lando or something else random. Um yogurt. Maybe our next episode, or maybe over the course of this year, we can make a list of things that we want to convince each other of. So you already have two episodes on lock. One is convincing me to like Kimmy, and then the other one is convincing me to like Franco. I don't know what I'm gonna convince you about, but we'll find something.
SPEAKER_01I'm bringing in Lydia for the Kimmy episode. Great. She wants to do a podcast with us, and she may be in town at some point in June. And it's not a race week, and that would be perfect. Get her in here. Yeah, what are you gonna convince me of? I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Okay, well apparently I won't be good at it because we're here way too late for the Formula One podcast. Um, but anyway, all that to say, Gucci merch. I I I would absolutely become a fan of Alpine to go to the garage and get Gucci merch.
SPEAKER_01And and we're not not fans of Alpine.
SPEAKER_02No, no, I love Pierre Gasly.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and Franco. And I I don't hate Franco. Um, this is the next point, you like Rach, you have to say this. Because this is this was like honestly, I know I keep saying this, but this was also one of the most exciting things that I heard this week.
SPEAKER_02100%. I think everyone has heard Danny Rick say multiple times. Uh even a fan like asked him at an Enchanted pop up like a year ago if he was gonna race again, and he was like, nah, like I'm good, I'm done. And now that he has a collab with Connor Daly, um, an indie car driver with an Enchanted, he's going to IndyCar or going to Indy 500. I think it's the first time he's been to the Indy 500 and yeah, a race race since he's left retired.
SPEAKER_01At 2 34 p.m. a.m. Was it a?
SPEAKER_02I think it wasn't well, it doesn't matter. Anyway, anyway. He left the panic at a weird time. Um very specific time. Very bad. 2 34 is so specific.
SPEAKER_01I think that's what it is. No, I'm not gonna verify that because I'm probably wrong. I'll share it on the Insta. Follow us on Instagram.
SPEAKER_02I lost my train of thought. Oh, but anyway, so it's his first time back at a real race track, and he's like, I might be convinced, and I think his quote, like about his racing return via the Speed Street podcast, is Never Say Never.
SPEAKER_01And he looked so happy saying it.
SPEAKER_02So isn't Never and Say Never a Justin Bieber song?
SPEAKER_01I don't know, maybe.
SPEAKER_02Q Justin Bieber.
SPEAKER_01I feel like there's a lot of fun quotes that are Justin Bieber songs.
SPEAKER_02Like you you could probably Oh, it's not a is it a song? It's the film is Never Say Never.
SPEAKER_01Oh. Oh, is it the name of his album? Maybe? Oh yes?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no, no, no, no, no, no. Oh, though it is a song. Okay.
SPEAKER_01Why have we talked about Justin Bieber like every episode?
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_01Not that I don't like I love Justin Bieber. Justin Bieber. But yes, Danny Rick, racing in any capacity. I that thrilled. Also, Enchante Indie Merch Collab, very excited to see this.
SPEAKER_02I know. I'm pumped to see it draw. I mean, take my money. It's been a minute since I've bought Enchanted, not for lack of wanting. It's just I have too much already.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. But I was wearing we both are wearing Enchanted. I know every movie. Enchante! We'll wear your style.
SPEAKER_02We'll wear whatever you want us to. But yeah, anyway, thrilling, so exciting to hear that maybe he's thinking about it again. Racing. I I god, I wish that you would have watched race. I mean, it was painful. Like, don't get me wrong, but like I have not had that thrill of the investment of a driver, even with Lando, as much as I had with Danny Rick.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah. No, I I I mean I am a big Max fan, but I'm I wasn't like crying when he didn't win. No. Like it's not that deep. And this would be, I mean, we would be indie fans immediately. Or NASCAR or whatever.
SPEAKER_02Whatever racing series takes Danny Rick, you are going to have a lot of people watching, and I think they know that. Yeah. Honestly, like maybe not quite Max Verstappen levels, but maybe Max Verstappen levels.
SPEAKER_01I mean, and the and we all know ladies like some merch. So I don't know. Seems like a good seems like a good marketing ploy. Um, okay, other in other news. Um, Charles Leclerc, who is now, I guess, rolling in it with his L'Oreal ambassador.
SPEAKER_02L'Oreal Paris money.
SPEAKER_01It's like what we've been joking about. Um, Charleston Alexandra bought a yacht. It is beautiful. It was apparently 13 million, I guess, US dollars. I guess we didn't verify that.
SPEAKER_02Anyway, there was a dollar sign in front of it. So yeah, I guess. Yeah. Well, doesn't the Australian dollars also use the dollar? I don't know what okay. Anyway, anyway, potentially 13 million US dollars.
SPEAKER_0113 million something dollars, a very large yacht. And the videos, if anyone saw them, are absolutely crazy ridiculous. It looks like a naval vessel is getting christened. Like she breaks the bottle over the helm, and there's like confetti, they're all in white. Yeah, Rachel was like, it looked like their second. It looked like their second wedding, which it's not confetti. She was holding a bouquet of flowers. Oh, I didn't even notice the flowers.
SPEAKER_02That wasn't a shot. Like, there was a crowd.
SPEAKER_01There was a crowd. Can you imagine like getting an invite to their yacht christening?
SPEAKER_02Incredible. I just that is so far outside of my tax bracket. Like it was we have a kayak.
SPEAKER_01We go stand up paddleboarding and we rent the paddleboards.
SPEAKER_02I can't. Let alone a freaking boat, yacht. Yeah. Yeah. Wish that was my life.
SPEAKER_01I've been I've been to a navy boat christening. And you said it's a similar thing. It's the same thing. The same except less extravagant, obviously, because you're in a naval shipyard. True. So you're just like kidding, kind of sitting there, and there's a bunch of signs that are like loose lip sink ships. Oh. Clearly, this was not like that.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. The oh, okay. The vessel's name is, I can't pronounce it, Sedici. S-E-D-I-C-I, Italian for 16. His racing number. That's cute. That's a good name. And apparently between 13 million and 20 million dollars. U.S. I think so. So it showed me. Um, so anyway, I guess congrats to them. Yeah.
SPEAKER_01If you if you guys are having a party and want us to pod and content create, we got you. Yeah. We'll advertise your yachts. We will bring yogurt if that's something you're into. I don't think.
SPEAKER_02Where is this going? I can't. So yeah, congrats.
SPEAKER_01What a fun thing. Excellent. Um, we'll we'll share on the pod when we drop that. We'll we'll share the videos so you guys can see us. Yeah, of course. Um and then we have Zach Brown playing favorites again. Yes.
SPEAKER_02With Lando golfing in Myrtle Beach. Sorry, Oscar. Sorry. I think if Oscar golfed, he would probably also be doing this.
SPEAKER_01What does Oscar do in his free time, Sim? That's a great question that I don't know the answer to. I don't either. I don't really know a lot about I know there's some Oscar girlies, maybe one of the 26 of you that are listening, that are like, obviously he's doing da-da-da-da-da. But he is so far out of my algorithm.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_01Not that I don't like Oscar.
SPEAKER_02I just find him to be dull. If Oscar has a hobby, sound off in the comments. Let us know what it is.
SPEAKER_01And do we think he likes yogurt? And I know I like we're joking. He's not British. I know, but he's like pseudo-British.
SPEAKER_02Because he's works. Because he works for a British team. And he grew up in England. He did. He went to, I think, a boarding school. Yeah. And his girlfriend's British. Yeah. British by proxy. Yeah, he's British by proxy. Yeah. We would take that yogurt dancer. Yeah. Osc. Uh, I just I thought the funny part of this story is that Zach was reunited with Vanna White at this golfing event in Myrtle Beach. And that, and I we've said this before, but that Zach was on Teen Week in eight nineteen in 1894. In 1984 for Wheel of Fortune, and that is where he got the money that helped him start carding. I know I love that story. So a cute full circle moment. And it was like Vanna White in the middle.
SPEAKER_01Zachy can be so cringy, but he has a fun little I've said this before. He has a fun little start.
SPEAKER_02It is kind of a good like American self-made story.
SPEAKER_01So we'll we'll give him that. And he loves cars. He collects his little cars.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't he have like a Lewis Hamilton McLaren car? Or Ferrari. Or not Ferrari. F1. No, it must have been like a McLaren car. He has some sort of Lewis Hamilton car. Maybe it is a Ferrari. No, but why would it be a Lewis Hamilton Ferrari? Oh, true. Maybe it's a Michael Schumacher. He has a Schumacher.
SPEAKER_01We'll we'll maybe we'll do a deep dive on that. I don't know. Maybe Rachel will convince me that Zach Brown's not cringy. Okay.
SPEAKER_02I do think he's kind of cringy, but maybe I can convince you that he's less cringy than you think that he is.
SPEAKER_01Maybe we have the same level of cringy feelings for Zach Brown. Probably. Probably. Okay, Maxi Maxi Boy is doing some Le Mans 24-hour racing in Nurberd Ring.
SPEAKER_00Yes.
SPEAKER_01Um, and he has sold out the weekend. And my favorite thing about this, so cool, he's bringing people to different races, but with a ticket, from my understanding, you get a meet and greet with the the d car drivers, and then I think it was like a photo op or something. I can't remember. Something like that. He didn't go. I think they said it was because of safety concerns, right? But you know he didn't want to do that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, absolutely not. You're right. They played that safety card hard.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, I was like, he is a cat, he has to stay stimulated. So they're like, okay, Max, go go do the little mall.
SPEAKER_02And then like this isn't his main thing, this is his fun thing. So he's like, I don't want to go.
SPEAKER_01And then he's like, I'm not gonna get fined, so I'm not gonna do it. But they're saying it's for safety, which I guess good job, PR team, but like Max. So all those people who went there to see Max are just gonna see him like zoom, like zoom by really quick.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, because you hardly see it's a huge track. It's a huge track, and also, yeah, it's they go so fast.
SPEAKER_01You see them for two seconds. It's I would think it'd be more fun to just watch his live stream.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, him sim racing. Yeah, honestly. Yeah, it would be probably way more entertaining.
SPEAKER_01But he he did qualify in third.
SPEAKER_02Yes. Yeah, again, we're like recording this episode later than we normally would.
SPEAKER_01But yeah, we just saw he qualified third. Yeah, he qualified third. Lucky number three for number three. Exactly. So I mean hopefully he'll have a good weekend and not have the wrong amount of tires or whatever happened last time.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yes, they overused tires.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, and also Red Bull Germany. I have shared some of this on the pod because the the Red Bull Germany promos for this have been so sick.
SPEAKER_02Did you share it on Instagram? Oh. I'm like uh it might have missed those. Well, put some more up there. Don't worry. I like that they have their merch is better. Question mark? Yeah.
SPEAKER_01I do think the merch is better. It's still not the level of like Enchanted Pepe jeans or even like Lando stuff, but it's like stuff I would wear. Like better than better than the Simply Lovely stuff that they have, which I do have one of those shirts. Shout out to my friend on Facebook Marketplace. Um yeah, that's right. Because I got it for she like ordered extra, and I wear it to the gym. It's your gym shirt. Yeah. Simply lovely. Yeah, simply lovely.
SPEAKER_02You have one last little merch tidbit on here.
SPEAKER_01Yes, I yes, didn't this launched already? Yes, I bought the quarter zip. Pull it on. Yes, yes, yes. Um Disney This is huge news. You didn't tell me. I didn't know. You didn't voice note me. It happened today. I think I think you were like fully like, I am working, stop talking to me. And I was like, cool, talk to you later. I just didn't have time to voice note. Yeah, no, and Rachel would never say something like that. And I would also never listen to her. I would keep doing it. I'm like shopping. Um, but the Disney F1 merge is so good this time because the last time it was just kind of like eh, it was cute because it's Disney, but it wasn't anything I really like. This is a lot better. This is so much better. There's a white Q-Zip. I don't even see it. Oh, sold out. Yeah, I don't even see it. It's a pre-speed. Fuel the magic. Oh, yeah. Fuel the magic. It's so cute. But um, that's a kid shirt.
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_01Angie texted me and was like, I'm spending all my money on this Disney merch.
SPEAKER_02You guys are kind of, and I say this lovingly, Disney adults.
SPEAKER_01Angie fully is.
SPEAKER_02You're like you're like dipping your toe. I'm dipping my toe. And again, not a bad thing.
SPEAKER_01Not a bad thing at all. Oh, I think I found it. Um, but but no, we like running Disney races. Run Disney. Um, please sponsor us also. And I keep telling Rachel she would love it. Yeah, I don't see it. Must be sold out. Wow, good for you. I'll have to show you on my order. I'll pull it up. I can't wait. It's very it's very cute. Um, this thing? Yes. Oh, yours says Feel the Magic on it. Yes, it says Fuel the Magic. And I, you know, I love a quarter zip. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_02I just needed to go to the oh, there's different selection. I was looking at the F1 website. So there's like a little bit different things happening. Got it.
SPEAKER_01Well, anyway, that was my other fun update. It's very cute. Oh yeah, this is cute.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. How much you spent? Yes.
SPEAKER_01Yep. Hey, you know what? I bought a guy. It's really cute. I bought this one guy that I had um many visits with last week. Lots of steaks. Oh. So I got reimbursed today. Felt like you made money. Money, which it's not. Oh, did you get free shipping? Yes.
SPEAKER_02Ship magic. Ship magic is the code. Ship magic. For free shipping on $85 or more in the advertisement. Which is so much free advertising.
SPEAKER_01Anything.
SPEAKER_02Probably everything from the Formula One collection.
SPEAKER_01Yes. Um, okay, and then I think that's all we have.
SPEAKER_02That's it for the hot gossip and news section. What how are we doing for time?
SPEAKER_01Um, let's look.
SPEAKER_02Probably Oh, okay, we're under an hour.
SPEAKER_01Oh my god, great!
SPEAKER_02I was expecting to be at like 35 minutes.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I was like, we're probably at like three hours. We're just like catching up. Um okay, last update.
SPEAKER_02Formula One run club.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, so Rachel needed to run how many miles?
SPEAKER_02Nine.
SPEAKER_01And I needed to run 14. 14? Wasn't it 14? I thought it was 19. I did six plus thirteen. Hang on. Make a nineteen.
SPEAKER_02Are you well you ran? You definitely ran more than you needed to.
SPEAKER_01I don't know. Um I was I was concerned I wasn't going to run enough.
SPEAKER_02I definitely spread mine out quite a bit.
SPEAKER_01So did I. And I did make a reel, and I was really bad about not actually recording myself running.
SPEAKER_02You only had to run 14. Oh, well, look at me. So you overachieve, are you? I ran like exactly nine.
SPEAKER_01Well, good job. Because we are running a race in two days.
SPEAKER_02So don't sure overexert yourself. No. Gotta make sure we're ready to run.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, we're running, we're running a 10-mile, which I don't think we've run a 10-miler since we did the Twin Cities 10 miler like a couple years ago.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, before we started running marathons.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, Rachel ditched me to run a marathon, and then I ditched her to run a marathon. No, you ditched twice! Did I? Because you signed up for the marathon. I was like, I can't do that. There's no way I can do that. And then Rachel, I had FOMO. Well, and then I signed up again.
SPEAKER_02Had knee and back issues.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and then she like really, really was down to the wire about whether or not she was gonna run it. But she was a really good spectator.
SPEAKER_02I tried.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I tried. Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, but so yeah, hopefully this is the year we run a marathon. More singing. Sorry, everyone.
SPEAKER_01But we basically have until June, and then we have to start training.
SPEAKER_02Yes. So Formula Run Club will be in full effect. Full effect whether there's races or not.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, whether it's cold or not. We gotta make it happen. Yeah. Do you do you ever get up early and run? Or do you are you fully a night runner?
SPEAKER_02Um, I do when I work just because it feels easier to do after than before.
SPEAKER_01Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Um, if it's a longer run than I'm not working, then I'll usually kind of do it in the morning.
SPEAKER_01Yeah. I have trouble. I did it a little bit. You know, when those when it's the weeks where your shortest run is like eight miles. Yeah. And I'm like, when when else am I gonna get this done? And then you have to get up at like 4 a.m. before work.
SPEAKER_02I will say working retail does have its benefits because then sometimes it's like your eight mile run will can fall in the middle of a week.
SPEAKER_01Yeah, and truly everyone who works with me probably thinks I am so annoying and because all I do is talk about like what I like how many miles I'm running. Like the the gal that sits next to me running in Formula One. She yeah, she like fully has to hear me every day at like 4 30, go, oh, I have to run like five miles. And she's probably like, shut up. Shut your trap. You are choosing to do that true.
SPEAKER_02It's our choice. Like, sorry. Our choice to put ourselves through this.
SPEAKER_01Have you seen the the reels where people like walk through the doors and they're like me feeling better than everyone because I ran before work?
SPEAKER_02No, I haven't, but well, I might have to make one. You shouldn't. More running content to come. Oh, especially because our you already said it, our little mini mics. Oh my god, it's 8 p.m. already.
SPEAKER_01Oh, we gotta eat our sand. We gotta eat our sand, everyone.
SPEAKER_02Um we will see you on Sunday. See you on Sunday. Bye.
