SPEAKER_01

Hello. Hi everyone. Welcome to On Sunday's Week, a Formula One podcast. I'm Rachel. I'm Lexi. Hey Lex. Hey, Rachel. Like, we just haven't spent the last however many hours together. Oh my god, like five hours together.

SPEAKER_00

It's been great. It's been great. It's been a good, crazy weekend. Wild. What a truly. Like what a wild weekend. I just want everyone to know, again, one day we'll record. But Rachel has her sunglasses on inside. And she is a vibe. They're the coolest sunnies I've ever seen. Like, she will, she's gonna buy me some.

SPEAKER_01

I am gonna buy you some. They're like a chartreuse oversized aviator. That is honestly, it's like glasses.

SPEAKER_00

She has like a little slick back going on.

SPEAKER_01

We have our because I didn't have enough time to do my hair because I was running behind today.

SPEAKER_00

We have our little hockey jerseys on because Canada?

SPEAKER_01

Because Canada. I feel like these are so appropriate. I'm so glad that we're invested in these.

SPEAKER_00

Shoot, we forgot to have John Instagram husband. Oh, we were too busy. Well, we do that on the case. We can still do that. Okay, stay tuned. We'll do that.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but no, I mean, I feel like a yeah, hockey jerseys for Canada. Groundbreaking.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, incredible.

SPEAKER_01

Again, with heated rivalry and off campus. Yeah, which I haven't watched yet.

SPEAKER_00

And on the way here, Rachel, Rachel audio texted me and said, I'm like Joe level, F1 level, obsessing about the show. And John did say that he would watch it with me. Oh yeah, because I'm here for the next couple weeks.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think he might think it's stupid, but he might like it.

SPEAKER_00

He'll sit on he'll sit on his phone and let me watch it and he'll watch it beside me. It's fine.

SPEAKER_01

It's great.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Number one level obsession at the moment.

SPEAKER_00

After the F1 snafu, I will no longer ever, ever ignore a Rachel record. Oh my god, a recommendation a Rachel recommendation will never be ignored from here on out. Yes, welcome to On Sunday's V where we talk F1 and other chaotic things that come up.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, we're gonna talk our usual. There's not much F1 quote unquote news, but it's basically basically racing news. We'll talk a little indie 500, we'll dive into some again, quote unquote hot goss. Not a ton happening right now. We have a lot of speculations, a lot of allegeds out there. And then we'll dive into our race recap. We're gonna try something like a little bit faster, less like detail-oriented today.

SPEAKER_00

But who knows? Because Rage did still take a lot of notes.

SPEAKER_01

We still took too many notes. So once again, and then getting caught up in the details. I think just no, we're gonna have a good discussion about it, and we might not talk about every single detail, and that's fine.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it's fine. If we have questions, we can follow up. We sure can look up while we're talking. So it'll be it'll be good.

SPEAKER_01

Which side note, I have like a really stupid correction at the top of the show, which I'm sure no one caught.

SPEAKER_00

Was it the pronunciation of the track?

SPEAKER_01

Jill, Jill, Jillanou. Well, no, number one, and I think we need to look into it further, is I think that the re you know, when we were talking about refueling and we thought maybe it was about V8s, I think it was some of that stuff where they were talking about making races shorter, was actually for 2027. Oh. Because this year. Yes, because the current chash chassis, the current chassis is is is too small, I think, for fuel.

SPEAKER_00

More fuel. Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. So that means that they'll have to make the races shorter.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

And but no teams want to redo their chassis.

SPEAKER_00

Right, which makes sense.

SPEAKER_01

Unless, again, it was a whole regulation change. So again, we might have gotten a couple things muddled there. I'm sure some of that is still relevant conversation. And then the other really low stakes, aka no stakes that I messed up that was haunting me for a week is that I don't even know this up for you. Remember when we were talking about Lando and comparing him to or like the actors that we were comparing to the drivers? Yeah. So Lando's actor, I think.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I didn't even know who he was.

SPEAKER_01

Matthew Matthew Broom. Yeah. Um, I said he he is in the Buccaneers and I called him Gus. His name is Guy. Oh my god. I know people have been dying. I know everybody probably heard that and said never again. I'm never. Well, you know why I said that is because I'm reading Beach Reed. Yes. And his name is Gus in the book. Oh. And so I got that confused.

SPEAKER_00

And so anyway, that is also I mean, no one cares, but I can't. I know Guy is a name, but it's not it's not like a common name.

SPEAKER_01

No. So not definitely not a common name. No, no. So anyway, that was bothering me all week, and I just had to share. And the V8 slash 2027 2023. Yeah, no, I did not race feeling. So we might need to dive into that again, but that's my like brief understanding overview of that.

SPEAKER_00

I did, I did have the understanding that no one wanted to switch up their chassis. Yeah. But I think it would make sense that it was sooner than 2031 or whatever we were saying. Again, I think that's all in relation to next and we probably don't actually know what's happening. I feel like there's been no, again, no actual changes in that way. That we yeah, not that we were aware of. Yeah, no, which we wouldn't be the first ones to know. No. But if we found out, we could tell everyone.

SPEAKER_01

Um well, the first thing that we'll talk about before we dive into the race weekend was the Indy 500 recap. Woo! Woo woo! We did not watch we yeah, we we yeah. Well, we like maybe tuned in a little bit. Yeah, we we didn't watch the whole time.

SPEAKER_00

No, barely, but I I kept only seeing Danny Rick exciting updates.

SPEAKER_01

That was the exciting updates, which is one of the updates. But so Felix Rosenquist of um Meyer Shank Racing was the winner. Umgrats to Felix. I believe he used to actually race for Arrow McLaren a couple years ago. Um, and he won against David Malucas by 0.0233 seconds. Yeah, that's insane. Slimmest margin in all indie 500 races.

SPEAKER_00

That's a photo finish.

SPEAKER_01

She didn't say that was a photo finish. Nor was that Greg.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, was it Greg?

SPEAKER_01

It might have been. Either way, one of them.

SPEAKER_00

It was hilarious and true. All at the same time. Yeah, that is true.

SPEAKER_01

So congrats to Felix. I don't really know what else happened during the race. You said there was like 70 different leaderships.

SPEAKER_00

70 different leaders, and the guy that led the movie. Oh, Alex Pillow. Yeah, did not win.

SPEAKER_01

And he is like, I think the last one.

SPEAKER_00

Well, he did finish, I'm pretty sure.

SPEAKER_01

A couple years IndyCar Champ.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he did finish. I can't remember what place he finished in, but I believe it was in the top 10.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. And then um, obviously, Danny Rick was at the race, so that was really fun to see.

SPEAKER_01

He looked so happy and good. And he I feel like that's one of the first times I've seen him not wearing skinny jeans. Oh, he looked great. He looked really good. He looked great, he looked relaxed. Um, there was a really funny Instagram reel or video that we saw. The title of it was like, Always answer your sister's phone call.

SPEAKER_00

And as older sisters who younger whose younger sisters never answer our phone calls.

SPEAKER_01

True, we resonated with it really spoke to me. Um, but it was a gal whose sister must have been at the indie 500 FaceTiming her, and so she answered her sister's phone call, and her sister moved her camera, and it was like Danny Rick standing by. And we kept being like, Can you imagine? Can you imagine? I can't imagine. Wild. Um, but yeah, so shout out to Danny Rick and Connor Daly. Honestly, Connor Daly, thank you for doing a collab with Anshante and Danny Rick. Yeah, and great collab. It really inspiring Danny to go to a race.

SPEAKER_00

I don't think I told you this. I woke up this morning and just needed to buy something. It's Memorial Day weekend. There's like all kinds of, you know, sales, right? And so I was like, ooh, let me look at the Indie 500 collab. I didn't buy anything from the city. Oh, I thought you were gonna say you bought something. I did. It just wasn't from the collab. I finally bought the Ford Enchante sweatshirt that I've been staring at. Oh my god, great! I also bought the like light blue three sweatshirt, the crew neck.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, I don't know what that one is. Oh, it's so cute. Oh, let's look it up. Let's look it up.

SPEAKER_00

Let's look it up because this is important. Uh yeah, we love we love Enchanted.

SPEAKER_01

We love Enchanted We love merch. But so anyway, I'm just yeah, it was really exciting to see some of the Danny content this weekend.

SPEAKER_00

And the Indy 500 like looked great. I mean, I know we didn't like turn it on and tune in, we had a lot going on.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, that reminds me of did you see that video that George was um walking in and they're like, George, can you and he was with Carmen and they're like, Can you draw, can you draw the Indy 500 racetrack from memory and sweet Carmen was like, What? No, like I can't do that. And then George is like, Carmen, think about it. Carmen, think about it. And then they both go and drive. And they just drew like a little oval. Oh, cute. It's like a blue teal with a yellow um three on the back.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah. I love. Yeah. So yeah, that's that was my Memorial Day purchase. Is that is there a sale happening? No. Oh, no. I just bought a full price. I just I woke up and my the in my soul was like, spend some money on some sweatshirts.

SPEAKER_01

Me every day. That's why I have I bought two pairs of sunglasses in like the last week, which is really aggressive. Okay, but those are sickness.

SPEAKER_00

By the way, update, sunglass update. Rachel does have sunglasses on.

SPEAKER_01

I will I'm not taking them off. No, don't, please. It's again, they're more like glasses than sunglasses. They're sick. Love them. Um, so anyway, that was fun to see Danny like in real time having a blast.

SPEAKER_00

Again, can't wait to see the aftermath of that. If there is more.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Can't wait to see who's Lanny Race in the Indy 500 or the Coca-Cola 600, which we can kind of go into.

SPEAKER_00

Good segue.

SPEAKER_01

So Catherine leg unfortunately crashed out.

SPEAKER_00

That was when we decided we were not going to turn. 100%.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, oh, that's devastating. So we talked about Catherine last week. She was going to race the um the double, as they call it. So the 1,100 miles, 500 for Indy car, and then the 600 for NAS car, which that race literally just started. Um, but Catherine crashed out on lap 19. I think she was racing against Ryan Hunter Ray, and he crashed and she kind of like spun to try to avoid him. And then was out of the race. Yeah, it's so sad. But it sounds like she is still driving the Coca-Cola 600. Oh my goodness. Thank God. So she's not gonna do the double. She's obviously not doing the double this year. She crashed out.

SPEAKER_00

We'll have to check where she is at the end. Yeah, we can give an update at the end of the race. Because it did like just start before we started recording this. Yes. Like an hour ago or something like that.

SPEAKER_01

So devastating for the ladies.

SPEAKER_00

Uh yeah, but maybe she'll. I mean, we'll see. We'll see how the Coca-Cola 600 goes for her. Yay! Um, do you want to do this one? Sure. Um, uh, like we said, not a ton of updates because we did, you know, record earlier this week, but um, we were talking about the hot goss rumor that SD Bessie was getting replaced. Well, uh Hasa spoken out about that and said absolutely not. Apparently, the drama that was everyone was talking about on social media that was just drama and rumors. And um SD is here to stay, and we are, you know, fine, okay, great. We don't want someone to lose their job. However, Jack, Jack was seen this weekend and his hair looked so good.

SPEAKER_01

He was on the aft, I think it was the post-qualifying show with F1 TV, and he did such a nice job. And yeah, his flow is flow is great. Oh my god. Jack. Well, that's what he that is. I feel like not to say that's what it was known for, but I think that was like his signature look, and then he somehow shaved his head.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, not a good move, man.

SPEAKER_01

No, bring it back, but he brought it back, and again, I just ugh, just need another Aussie on the grid. I really like Oscar. He is not giving the Danny Rick energy that we're gonna do.

SPEAKER_00

Oscar is barely an Aussie. He likes Tim Tams, that's about it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he's not like the stereotypical extroverted Aussie that we are used to. He's not doing a shoe back. We need to fill that void on Bring the Shoey back. Bring the shoey back. Why is no one doing shoeys these days?

SPEAKER_00

Because there's no Aussies. Liam's never gonna get on the podium, so the Kiwi. Oh, yeah, he's not even an Aussi. He's a kiwi, I always forget.

SPEAKER_01

I know.

SPEAKER_00

Oh similar-ish accent. So anyway, petition to bring back the shoey. Please. Jack.

SPEAKER_01

Um Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack. Um, this isn't really racing newsness. I guess it is. It is.

SPEAKER_00

It's notable.

SPEAKER_01

Um they talked about this during, I think qualified. They talked about it at some point during the race weekend, but I guess Lewis Hamilton has stopped practicing on the sim.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they kept talking about how he just liked this track so much that he was like doing it by feel and not from the sim.

SPEAKER_01

Which again which is honestly incredible. And I feel like maybe he was just overthinking things a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

I my theory, which this is a Susan theory. Oh. Um, is that his mom was there.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So he did well. Because in in China, his mom was there and he did well. Were those his only two podiums? Yes. And his mom was there. Yes, Susan is on to something. Nothing like a mother's love to I mean, if Kim ever gets there, who knows? Oh my god, it was a good one.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, if Carmen Carmen and Kim in the same padding. We won immediately. If there were he would win fastest lap, fastest pit stop. It would be all the accolades. It would be everything, everything. Every accolade driver of the day, all the things. All of the things.

SPEAKER_00

Because he got driver of the day too. He did also get driver of the day. Yeah. Lulu had a great weekend. Yeah, Susan was very happy for him. So much so I was even really happy for him. It was infectious.

SPEAKER_01

He it was really sweet. Overall, his overall demeanor, especially on the podium with Kimmy. We can we'll talk, we can talk about that at the end of the day. Yeah, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

But we will get into it.

SPEAKER_01

Um, so again, I know a lot of that wasn't news, but some of this stuff news, quote unquote.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then a couple little things that we thought were fun and notable. You should talk about Lando's helmet.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. The green blobs were not out this weekend. No. Which side note, I need that fleece, the white with the fluorescent blobs on it. I think they sold out.

SPEAKER_00

I think the pre-order sold out?

SPEAKER_01

No, no, no, no, no. But I think they like had to shut down the um shop early. What? I think because they sold out of stuff. That's hot gas. That's hot gas Lando merch going fast. I think you're gonna be able to get it online eventually.

SPEAKER_00

I hope so.

SPEAKER_01

I saw someone, this is such a random tangent, but I thought it was interesting that I'm sorry, I can't remember the creator's name, but I thought it was an interesting point that um Lando's merch used to be a lot less expensive, and I feel like they would drop things kind of like all at once. And now she was saying that they're just trying to kind of for lack of a better term, like take people's money because they're now upcharging, even without like tariffs and taxes and all that good stuff, shipping to shipping to the United States. But that they released that one blob, the black and the gray. Yeah, and then there was like a pre-order for it, it sold out, and then you could pre-order it again. And then they released the like now the white with the fluorescent, and she was saying they should have just released it all at one time because now it's like, oh, people maybe they would have like bought the other one instead of the white versus the black and gray. Taylor Swift.

SPEAKER_00

I and I love Taylor, I love Taylor so much. Like all my heart.

SPEAKER_01

Like all the cardigans kind of did that.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and all the cards.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, the blob fleeces the Lando. Yes, it's the Lando vinyl of Showgirl, like the the Taylor Swift cardigan. Yeah, it's the Taylor Swift life of a showgirl. Blob hoodie is the I can't even speak right now, but you understand what I'm trying to say. Anyway, I understand her point, but I'm also like, eh.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, may I mean I don't know. Those things I'm sure take a long time to like get ready to report. Totally. So I get it. Anyway, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But I thought that was interesting.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, you know, that is interesting. That is hot gas.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I so anyway, we're supposed to be talking about his helmet. Onto the helmet. Lando's helmet. So no blobs this weekend. Um, he actually had a really cool helmet that was in honor of Sir Jackie Stewart's dementia charity, which is raced race against dementia. So, like one half was a healthy brain scan, and then the other one was a deteriorating, deteriorating brain from like dementia. Such a cool helmet. It looked really cool. I thought that it was nice that he partnered up with a charity. I feel like F1 drivers definitely do that, but maybe not as often as they should.

SPEAKER_00

I yeah, I know I hear about it every so often.

SPEAKER_01

And I know Lando's not the first driver to do that. I feel like Lewis has consistently done it.

SPEAKER_00

Valerie's done like recently that I can think of. But no, I thought it was great. It was very cool. I mean, it didn't have the best outcome. So which we'll talk about. We will talk about. Um we have a fun reel, stay tuned, about some good outfits that we saw this weekend.

SPEAKER_01

So many good fits come into the paddock. Yeah. From the drivers. Yes. Specifically. Yes. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

So can't wait. And then other in other um not news in other drama, maybe Liam is single.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I don't know like where this came from because I feel like it's a very light rumor, so allegedly.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and apparently it's now out that Hannah St. James is like very conservative.

SPEAKER_01

Allegedly.

SPEAKER_00

Let's just say allegedly. So now I'm like, is that why this rumor is surfacing? Like, I don't know. And also, like, it's Liam. Like, do we really care that much?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I thought they were really cute. I think she was definitely making him very Americanized.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, which he seems to like.

SPEAKER_01

No, of course.

SPEAKER_00

Um, let's see which American he snags next. Ooh. You know? Who should Liam Lawson date now? Yeah, who should Liam Law? Oh, who should he date now? Maybe we should do a reel about that. Repose our matchmaker.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. But yeah, so again, this is like such a small blip on the radar. We don't have any factual information. We even looked. Yeah, we we tried to Google it. Yeah, we fully We went to like random TikToks, but I think it just sounds like maybe they're tra he's traveling a lot. Um and it's maybe hard for her. She said in a she said in a video that it was hard for her to maintain a long distance relationship.

SPEAKER_00

So obviously she would know that that has something to do with it.

SPEAKER_01

That's literally well, but that's literally like you know what you're getting yourself into. Yeah. Right? Yeah. Anyway, so potentially, ladies, Liam Lawson on the market. Single. I was dying at like I don't know if he has a good singing voice or not. I can't really tell, but I guess he plays guitar. And there was that one video where he like whispers into Arvid's ear like he's singing, and I can't remember what it is, but it kind of was giving me a little bit.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know what you're talking about, and I don't remember what song. I think he does have a good singing voice. I just I don't know. He's so goofy.

SPEAKER_01

He's a goofer. He's goofy. His perm is also wearing off, I fear.

SPEAKER_00

He needs to get that shit.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, because they showed maybe that's another more evidence his perm isn't up to date. Hannah's gone, she's not checking on his perm.

SPEAKER_00

I had to watch, I was forced to watch the Netflix version of the race instead of F1 TV, and they kept just showing so many commercials and so many commercials about Drive to Survive, which I get. The race. Yeah, during the sprint. Sprint race. And um yeah, his hair looked way better during Drive to Survive. Like way better. It's definitely straight again. Yeah, it's sorry, sorry. We're just gonna get it. Anyway, enough about Liam.

SPEAKER_01

On to onto other hot gos. On to other hot goss, which I honestly think that's it. I think that's it.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, the the Jonathan Wheatley.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, sorry. There was a plaque at the Montreal Grand Prix, which I think was a track mix up. This has happened before with like someone else, and now I can't remember what the incident.

SPEAKER_00

I fully thought it was like actually happening. I was like, oh my god, he finally he's finally officially with Aston Martin. And Rachel was like, No, no, it is not.

SPEAKER_01

So there was apparently a plaque that said John. Jonathan Wheely and then under it it said Aston Martin. Yeah. But I think it was just a little oopsie bloopsy.

SPEAKER_00

I guess also that could have been like an AI faked out picture. It also could have been an AI. Yeah, true. We kind of moved on from it. We were like, we'll talk about it. It's something notable, but that's it.

SPEAKER_01

I just think, yeah, so I don't I don't know what that was about. I don't know what it was about.

SPEAKER_00

Stay tuned. We'll we'll keep on the hunt for where the heck Jonathan Wheatley is.

SPEAKER_01

Where in the world is Jonathan Wheatley? We still don't know. Haven't heard a peep out of that.

SPEAKER_00

You know who else I haven't seen? Who? Flavio. He just was fully not around, and I watched all the content.

SPEAKER_01

And Alpine had a great weekend, so he must not have been. He didn't want to go to Canada.

SPEAKER_00

Do you think he just was too cold? It's probably too cold. No, no. It's way too cold. Way too cold. You're you're right. Rachel kind of is giving Flavio with her.

SPEAKER_01

I am kind of giving Flavio. I love it.

SPEAKER_00

I needed it. I needed it.

SPEAKER_01

Um, well, now we can drive in dive into race weekend. I think um, so it was Montreal Grand Prix this weekend. And a sprint weekend.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, we have had so many sprints. I think again, forgive us you guys.

SPEAKER_01

There has been so much race content coming out of this weekend. And honestly, the sprint race felt like almost the real race. No, it was the end sprint quality felt like the real just ended so similarly.

SPEAKER_00

So to yeah, so did you end up watching Free Practice? I didn't. Okay, I watched maybe like 15 minutes of it. I was at work, I was the only person in the office, and I was like, I'm gonna turn this on, get my little email sent out, and that's it. Literally everyone in the whole world called me or stopped by my desk that day, so I didn't get a lot done. What I did see was that it was extended by four minutes because there was a safety car or something. And then separately, Alex Alban hit a groundhog.

SPEAKER_01

I think this was the sorry, that was like such a delayed reaction. I think this was the main talk coming out of free practice, is that yeah, Alex Albon, who is the worst person to have run over a groundhog.

SPEAKER_00

He's like a Buddhist, he like loves all living things. He is like a zoo. Yeah, Albon pets.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, like he has so many animals, and I think I I saw a clip like James Vowell saying, like, yeah, he's devastated. Like Alex's mom is now gonna make him adopt a family of marmots or something.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, yes. Um, also, side note, I just thought about this. Greg and I were talking before the race, and they interview James Vowells all the time. Yeah, they do, like all the time. They love him, they love interviewing him, they interview him as much as Toby.

SPEAKER_01

I think it's easier sometimes to interview the team principals that are not as high stakes in the race. Okay, where are the Flavio interviews? True. We need to get on that. Oh, and then Zach does them because he's not like team principal. Yeah, he loves him. He's CEO, so he's like doing his thing. Yeah, just like he's not strategizing, you know? At least not to the extent that Andre Stella and the rest of them are. No, but yeah, devastating nutty at the groundhog. This has happened.

SPEAKER_00

This happens like quite often. I think I saw it was this was the 13th or 14th time it's happened.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and people, then I I can't remember, I think it was on maybe P1 with Matt and Tommy, but they were talking about, or maybe it was red flags. I don't remember. Anyway, besides the point, it brought they brought up a good point, which was if someone is has an incident like that that's like out of their control, like do they still have to follow essentially like any sort of penalties or anything like that? Like, it wasn't his fault that the he ran over a groundhog. Yeah, because even when he can he still change out his parts without like penalty, like what if he needed a U power and you that like I guess the answer is no, because he didn't involve well and then this happened a couple years ago, and like it wasn't his fault. Like, what's he gonna do? But Carlos Sainz ran over that like manhole cover. Oh, in Vegas, yes, and again, like not his fault. Like on Vegas, we're not like or the F1 grounds track crew, I don't know what they call them. But again, like what are you gonna do? So, yeah, because then it was like, well, then anyone could try to make an exception for a number of different things. Are you yawning? I'm tired, I know.

SPEAKER_00

I'm like yawning, I'm trying not to. This is exciting stuff.

SPEAKER_01

Nowhere really is it really is so anyway. I just thought that was a good discussion.

SPEAKER_00

Well, even when he hit it, his radio was like, that's the worst luck. And I that is, I was like, wow, Alex is having the worst. Like we're keeping like Max having the worst year, Charles having the worst year. Alex, Alex is having the worst luck.

SPEAKER_01

I'm like trying to like the worst luck five years, yeah, forever his entire career.

SPEAKER_00

Like he is an F1 driver, but like has the worst luck. Truly.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but I think again, there might have been some other stuff, but that seemed to be the main thing coming out of free practice.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I don't even remember like I think um was it Charles that was the quickest? Like, I don't even remember who was the fastest.

SPEAKER_01

I don't either. Um maybe it was Max.

SPEAKER_00

I don't know. It wasn't it wasn't Kimmy.

SPEAKER_01

It wasn't him?

SPEAKER_00

No, it was not the fastest. We're looking this up. Edit, edit, dead air, dead air.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it was Kimmy.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, it was Kimmy? Okay. Yeah. Okay, Kimmy was the fastest.

SPEAKER_01

Kimmy, George, Lewis. Oh, that literally, again, everything's the same this weekend, pretty much. Nothing to make note of.

SPEAKER_00

Alright, and then moving on to sprint quality. Sprint quality. So SQ1, um we had out. So eliminated Liam, Alex, Bottas, Pierre, Stroll, and Jacko.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and then Liam and Alex didn't even start. Right. Because Alex's car wasn't ready. And I think Liam maybe that had a hydraulics issue.

SPEAKER_00

I wonder if Liam was the four-minute delay thing. Maybe it was like both of those things, the groundhog and the le the whatever happened, happened very close together. Yeah. Um, yeah, so nothing else really exciting happened. And then SQ2, Fernando hit a wall. So that was a bummer, and they had to fix the wall, so then there was like a huge delay that like could not start until the wall was repaired. Repaired.

SPEAKER_01

I thought it was wait, did you say SQ2? SQ1, I think Alonzo was in the wall. Oh.

SPEAKER_00

He was in Wait. I have out I have that he was not out in SQ1. Did I mess that up? I don't know. I mean, I definitely could have typed things in. Oh no. But who knows? Well I have out and SQ2, Alonzo, Nico, Bearman, Ocon, Franco, and Daddy to SQ2.

SPEAKER_01

Well, my notes are messed up this time. Why do we keep having issues with sprint notes?

SPEAKER_00

I mean, truly, it's a lot, the sprint and the race. And I tried not even to take notes and just do the highlights because I was like, there's just too much.

SPEAKER_01

I did think it was so I guess that Canada, because it's essentially a park and cars and everything drive on it, that there's a lot of dust that collects.

SPEAKER_00

And so yeah, they kept talking about that.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I it was really so that's why it takes so long for the track to ramp up, but once it does, it like goes really quickly. So I think you did have quite the advantage if you were like one of the last people driving on the track.

SPEAKER_00

It truly felt like a it was a cool track to watch a race, like it felt like a uh video game level, truly, it's like the groundhogs and the dust and then the water features.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and I was like, has anyone ever driven like into the water? No, because there's obviously huge fences, but it's kind of a cool, very beautiful picturesque track. Yeah, but everyone looked freezing. Oh my god, yeah. Everyone looked so so cold.

SPEAKER_00

And it's yeah, for the first time, not as cold here.

SPEAKER_01

No, no, yeah, like roasting 85 degrees today. Um, I think that's kind of it for SQ one. SQ2, we lost Hulkenberg, Bordoletto, Colapinto, Ocon, Bearman, and Alonzo. Alonzo didn't set a time. Yeah, it says.

SPEAKER_00

So maybe he hit the wall at the end of well, no, it had to have been the beginning because he did technically make it. Well, whatever. He hit a wall, he didn't make it through.

SPEAKER_01

I I just think the overall is um I think that people again, if you were going last, the track was ramping up a lot more, and there were so many people that were just like wobbling. Yeah. I think that I mean, no surprise. I feel like um Charles seemed to have a couple.

SPEAKER_00

Charles was having, yeah, he like really it was interesting.

SPEAKER_01

And so did Lewis actually, despite doing well.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it felt like there were some people we just didn't hear a lot about. One was Max, one was Charles. Like we just didn't hear anything.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like we didn't hear about Charles at all this weekend. No, and yeah, you're right. Even Max finishing, spoiler alert, third in the race. Like, I feel like we didn't talk about it. Oh, and so many again, like track limits, so many track limits.

SPEAKER_00

Which makes sense. There's so many crazy turns.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and you get you I just feel like there's it's so tight. Like the track is so tight to the walls.

SPEAKER_00

Anytime there were two people beside each other, it was bad news.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, it got real crazy. Um, but I think it even in SQ3, we lost, or not we lost, but it was ended up being Russell, Antonelli, Norris, Piastri, Hamilton Leclerc, Verstappen Hadjar, Lynn Blad and Signs. I again like two by two by two by two.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was the same, like every not like spoiler alert. Hopefully you watched, and this is just like a recap, but like it was very much two by two by two.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and shout out to Lynnblad and Signs. Mm-hmm. The two wanted us for their teams. Yeah. We were really hoping for, well, we kind of got a mixed-up podium, but we're really hoping for someone rogue on the podium.

SPEAKER_00

We really wanted a rando. We kept being like, please give us like a give us give us an Arvid, give us a Franco, give us an R.

SPEAKER_01

I would have even taken a Science, an a la carriage.

SPEAKER_00

Which don't get me wrong, I'm so happy there was finally a Max podium, but yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But yeah, but yeah. Okay. So again, not too much happening. I feel like in honestly, sprint qualifying was pretty boring until I feel like maybe the last little bit um of it.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, there were there was like the battle for like who's gonna, you know, be in P P10, like at the end of SQ2. That was pretty exciting. And then it was kind of like, you know.

SPEAKER_01

I did think it was really funny when George got the his little um sprint qualie like trophy. The Pirelli guy gave it to him. The commentators are like, wow, he is really grilling the Pirelli guy. Like this poor Pirelli guy is getting asked all these questions from George.

SPEAKER_00

I was giving Rachel audio notes and I was like, the plaques! I finally saw the plaques.

SPEAKER_01

The plaques, the plaques. Okay, sorry guys, I feel like we're a little low energy. We're trying.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, I mean, I'm you know, I feel low energy. We got we got in sunlight.

SPEAKER_01

Discombobulated. Maybe we need a nightcoat. I think it's gonna rain. No, I know the Montreal weather's catching up. It's coming, it's coming. Um, okay, so sprint race.

SPEAKER_00

Again, I what did you think? Okay, I thought it was great. I thought it was fun. I think it was pretty exciting all the way through. I mean, the Toto Kimmy radios were like giving me life.

SPEAKER_01

I mean, I think again, a theme of the weekend is just Russell and Kimmy.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, I mean, true. So, like, not like a lot happened during the sprint, other than the Mercedes were finally battling, which I think we've all been kind of waiting for.

SPEAKER_01

It was spicy, and I think my favorite was the little like meme after of like Lando driving the car in the Lego race and being like, George, George, and it was like Lando watching yeah, Lando Lando was just like enjoying not being in the drama.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that was so good, so good.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and even during I'm jumping ahead, but when he um on the like podium for the sprint race, he he was like, I enjoyed watching these two fights.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, it was so good. I just think that Lando was like on them during the whole race.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he was like so close, killing it, I feel like, for a good chunk of the weekend. It was just not quite fast enough. Mercedes still really had them, and I think this, I don't know, it just what is happening with Kimmy and George is really, I feel like bringing up what happened last year with Oscar and Lando. And I, as much as like papaya rules has been like a funny phrase that we're using, I'm like, okay, well, I think looking back now, and again, this is like George and Kimmy's first time really fighting. So I'm curious to see how it's going to go. But um I just think it's now looking back, I'm like, oh, like Lando and Oscar handled themselves really well.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, Kimmy showed his 19-year-old.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he was getting so worked up, and then what did Toto was like concentrating on driving and not moaning on the race?

SPEAKER_00

Yes, and then he and then he spoke up again and said, Kimmy, this is the first time, fourth time we've talked about this. Do not talk about this on the radio.

SPEAKER_01

Keep your trap shut, sir.

SPEAKER_00

Like, we will talk about this in the debrief. I'm like, I want to be in that debrief. I want to hear what's going on in that debrief. Well, and it sounds like they resolved things and everything's fine. I mean, they were after the race today, they were very complimentary of each other. I haven't heard a George Russell interview yet, other than his sad boy comments. Oh my gosh. The gods don't want me in this space.

SPEAKER_01

The gods don't want me in this face. Well, we can jump there. But I would say too, theme of sprint is again like and the race is retirements and also penalties. I think Isaac had to retire on lap nine. Yeah, or at least like the garage was engine problems or something. Yes. Yeah. Um, and then Isaac went back out because data.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, they were like, guess he's gonna do a practice.

SPEAKER_01

Just another, just another practice. Why not? Which they would have one on a normal weekend. Yeah. Anyway, um, I think Hulkenberg got 10 seconds for leaving the track and gaining an advantage. Um, and I think Lewis Hamilton like might have like brushed the wall of champions. Kimmy went off again. Like him, he literally had so many. Oh my god, Perez got a 10 second penalty. Shocking.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, truly like so many did Alex get a penalty for not getting out of the way of George's way.

SPEAKER_01

I just don't know.

SPEAKER_00

I don't remember him getting a penalty, but he was like fully in the way. Yeah.

SPEAKER_01

And then I has George won all the sprints? I thought Kimmy won one.

SPEAKER_00

I could be wrong. How many sprints have we had? I thought there's been three. Um has there already been three sprints? I think China, Miami, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So George won the Miami sprint, okay. Um right? Yeah. George won the Chinese sprint. Real time. Real time. Oh, Lando won the Miami Grand Prix sprint. So George has won two out of the three sprint races.

SPEAKER_00

Uh did Kimmy win the no.

SPEAKER_01

Was it Lando? Lando. Okay. Yep. So I guess shout out to George, the king of the king of the sprints. They did each get again, they got sprint plaques, which was which was so cute. So cute and funny. And then I just like George just needs to like manifest that Miami is gonna be a track for himself because he literally said Miami is a bogey track for me. And I'm like, because you're making it one, George.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I mean, to George. We'll talk about it when we get to the race.

SPEAKER_01

But this brand was good. It was it was good, it was it was solid. I can't complain. George won, Lando second, Kimmy third, Oscar fourth, Charles fifth, Lewis sixth, verstappen seventh, Arvid eighth, Franco ninth, Carlos tenth. I think those are the top ten. Obviously, first eight top points.

SPEAKER_00

Lewis did great.

SPEAKER_01

Um I yeah, yeah, cool.

SPEAKER_00

So this is when my F1 TV was being so weird, and I was so annoyed. So then well, I like turned it on to Netflix and I was like, ew, uh, this is stupid. What are these commercials? It reminded me of James, uh, James Crocker's um reel where he's like Americans watching F1 TV. Oh, and the Burger King.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, I was like, This is the word have it your way. Um, quality out in Q1. We had Ocon, Albon, Alonzo, Perez, Stroll, Botas.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, where are the strollies? Where are the strollies? We never saw the strollies.

SPEAKER_01

Earnestly asking if there are any Lance Stroll fans, again, through the airwaves, strolly fans. The most hilarious fans tell raise your hand, comment on whatever posts we put out for the episode. But I am just, did you you said we both sent the video to each other, which is hilarious. But wondering if everyone else saw the driver's parade of Lance looking so miserable.

SPEAKER_00

He looked just horrible.

SPEAKER_01

Like, no arguing it. Like it he It's his home race.

SPEAKER_00

There's a Lanstrel grandstand.

SPEAKER_01

I'm convinced that he has no like ties to like he was just born to Canada. Yeah. Born to Canada.

SPEAKER_00

Born in born to Canada.

SPEAKER_01

No, I don't think he was born to Canada. I think he was just born in Canada. Truly. I'm like, Lando's more Canadian because he's just more excited.

SPEAKER_00

He looked thrilled until they're and then the video of someone, uh, they were just showing like the cheap tickets, but they went up to someone with an Aston Martin jersey and they're like, oh, you're Canadian. Do you are you a Lance Stroll fan? And they were like, no, Fernando. I just like, where are you? Where are you, Lance Stroll fans? Didn't you say there was a creator that liked Lance Stroll?

SPEAKER_01

I think there is, um, I think someone from the track talk podcast. I can't remember. Is it ironically that you I think so? And so again, again, this is where I'm like, convince me of your love and fandom for Lance Stroll. I will hear you out. Let us know why you like him. Come on the pod. Come on. I just, he's just not given anything. And so that's why no one ever talks about him. And then he's just lost in the shuffle.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, I was cracking up because they kept being like the hometown hero. Does he have a stand? Yes. Remember? Uh well, yeah, but with Ferrari and McLaren.

SPEAKER_01

Like people are just buying seeds because they want seeds to the Montreal Grand Prix. They don't care if they're in the Lando Stroll. Ticket. Lando Stroll.

SPEAKER_00

Lance Stroll stand. Lando Stroll. Lando Stroll. Oh, yeah, it was like all McLaren, Ferrari. Yeah, we looked at tickets and we were like, oh, the Lance stand is still open.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and the funny thing is, people would be like, we talk, it was it was a huge deal when Oscar Piastri was out of his home race. Like a huge deal. Like if yes, and like a huge deal if like Lewis or Lando didn't make it to Silverstone and didn't start the race for Lance. Like he started the race, but he was like no one was like, oh no, his home race. Like he's out. Like I don't think anyone was devastated.

SPEAKER_00

Did he also finish the race?

SPEAKER_01

I honestly can't remember.

SPEAKER_00

I thought I put oh okay. But we're talking about. Oh, he did. He did. Oh, good good job. He did. He finished. He started and finished.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but yeah, I guess speaking of stroll, there in Q1, like there was he was uh noted for like unsafe condition, and I just thought classic.

SPEAKER_00

I was so distract I put as a note for Q1. I was really distracted by Charles and his Ferrari radios because they were doing the thing where Charles would like ask a question and then they just either wouldn't answer him or they would answer him in like the weirdest way. Yeah. And they did it multiple times in Q1.

SPEAKER_01

I thought it was interesting, Charles like. Needed to box, but the timing was done. Like at the end of Q1. But I guess he had already finished his lap, so I'm not sure what was wrong with his car. Um I don't really have much, but like again, like track was improving really quickly. And again, I feel like if you had a last lap, it was probably one of your best ones. But Charles had like a time deleted for track limits. Like he was just like not doing well. And Bearman at one point was like, oh, a piece of my car came off. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, Ollie. Oh, Ollie. Yeah, Q1. We had Nico gone, Lee Liam gone, Gabby gone, Pierre gone. And then Q3, I thought was actually Did you just say what? Did you say Q1? Oh, Q2 is what I meant. Okay, I don't know what I said. Because you said Q1.

SPEAKER_01

I did say Q1.

SPEAKER_00

Cadillacs, Aston Martins, Ocon, and Alex. Oh, woo, crashing it. Yay! We need Diet Coke. Um, yeah, so and then Oh, Isaac Hadjar was the top in Q2. Yes. That was kind of fun. Shout out to Isaac. Maybe that was why I was just craving a rando on the podium. Because you saw Isaac. Yeah, I was like, ooh, we could have a rando something.

SPEAKER_01

And Lulu was doing great. He was doing great. Um, Max said his car felt like driving on ice. It sounds like he had tire issues, like warming them. He had issues warming tires up all weekend. Lando did great. And then Charles got called to the Weigh Bridge, which is where they checked the car to see if it's underweight. And they did that with like four minutes left. And I guess they can do that at like any time. That's freaky. I right. So if you didn't have like a lap, like if he didn't have a good lap in, which I think he was kind of hit and miss for a while. I think he ended up in eighth. I'm like, oh my god, what if that would have impacted his timing? And he would have gotten out. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, he would have pulled a max. No. Max would have pulled a max.

SPEAKER_01

Um my first note for Q3 is that fucking Colapinto made it. And it's and this is LOL now, but I'm like, is Mercedes falling apart? Um, no, because Gord, no, George had a killer lap at the end. But it was looking dicey there for a minute.

SPEAKER_00

Q3, I thought pretty unexciting until the very, very last couple minutes. Yeah. And then the Duchess really came through. Really came through.

SPEAKER_01

The wind. I know. I'm like storm.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe we'll have another storm. I hope so.

SPEAKER_01

Love a storm episode. Love a storm episode.

SPEAKER_00

Um, Rachel was listening to our last episode because I edited it, so she was like just listening to it. And she was like, I was looking around thinking that Remy was like whining. And then I realized it was the episode. It was just the episode.

SPEAKER_01

So thank you everyone for putting up with that. I promise he's not an abuse uh abused or neglected. He just is very vocal.

SPEAKER_00

No, yeah, he's living his best life. He really is living his best life. He's got John and Ben waiting on him, hand of the right. Literally, like right now.

SPEAKER_01

Literally everyone.

SPEAKER_00

Greg and Susan took him on a play date yesterday. Yeah, with another dog. Like he's living his best life.

SPEAKER_01

Living the dream anyway. I just also needed to know, and I saw someone made like a little reel or video of this on Instagram, but there is this same Ferrari mechanic that is always cressing the wheels. And he is literally his head's on top of it, and he's like stroking it with his face. Incredible!

SPEAKER_00

Incredible. He needs to do more because it obviously didn't work very well.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know if that was Lewis Hamilton or Leclerc, but um they ended in fifth and eighth. Um, so yeah, Russell starting on pole, Antonelli second, Norris third, Piastri fourth, Hamilton fifth, first open, and Isaac in sixth and seventh, Leclerc in eighth, Linblad ninth, Cole Pinto 10th.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, it was very much like two by two by two except for the Red Bulls are just in between the Ferraris, and then you got a random Arvid and a random Franco. Franco had a great weekend, and he didn't he wasn't really involved in any of the drama. He just kind of was around totally like solid midfield.

SPEAKER_01

Solid midfield. I thought it was uh they talked about after the race too, because I think again, I I was like, oh, for Mercedes is not doing well. Um they did well again, but I think George was saying they had done their setup for tomorrow, like it was gonna rain. So they're and it was and it was dry for qualifying. McLaren just went with it. Oh my god.

SPEAKER_00

Which so we what moving on to the race?

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Oh my god, what a dramatic literally start to the race.

SPEAKER_00

So, okay, can I set the scene for everyone of like our situation? Because I know we keep talking about like how chaotic we are, and like Apparently that's like every week. Every week, seriously. I and we even got here so early, like an hour and a half ago. We were like, we were gonna be so early because we're gonna be, we're gonna watch the pre-show and whatever, whatever. And so we're here, and then all of a sudden the race is just starting, and Susan is putting the salad together and the pizzas in the oven, and then we're like, what do we do? And then we bring the chairs downstairs, and then it just starts it's we're like, oh my god, it's starting three formation laps.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, the red lights like did not go out, and then I was like, oh my god, someone did a false start. Like, I was like, oh.

SPEAKER_00

Everyone kind of started going and and and fair because why wouldn't they? And then they're like, Okay, another formation lap, another formation lap, another formation lab. It was crazy, and then Arvid's car was not working.

SPEAKER_01

Heartbreak couldn't get into gear, which is heartbreak. Because Lexi and I were talking, and we're like, okay, we're voting for our favorite, like, we're always gonna like root for her favorite drivers, but then we're like, okay, like maybe we can supplement it with some other people. And I was like, I'm gonna root for Ollie and Arvid. And I was like, well, shoot. Yeah, Arvid, who was having honestly such a great week, such a good weekend.

SPEAKER_00

He he did such a good job in qualifying.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think then the major stupid decision that McLaren made for this is that they ever I think most people were starting on Slicks. There was a couple people on inters, but McLaren was on inters because the track was a little wet.

SPEAKER_00

I think weren't they the only people on inters?

SPEAKER_01

I think there were a couple more, but like no, no like top four or five teams were on inters, to my understanding. And Lando, because again, the track is kind of a little bit wet still, and Lando's on inters, flew past George and Kimmy, and we were all screaming, but of course, that didn't last very long. I can't even remember he Lando ended up hitting um, or Oscar ended up hitting first, and then Landed Lando ended up hitting after him on lap two. Um, and Antonelli did get in front of Russell too, I think pretty early on.

SPEAKER_00

It was McClellan. Williams, Carlos, Audi, and Cadillac.

SPEAKER_01

Ugh. Yeah. So again, mid to lower teams. Um yeah, the start of the race was crazy. There were literally so many incidents noted throughout, so I feel like we probably won't even talk about some of them.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, because some of them were just like we didn't even see what happened.

SPEAKER_01

And I think it was because they were noted, but there was no further action. Um, but I think after pitting, like Lando came out in 14th, Oscar was in 17th, and they were down low for a while. But this is where like the beginning of the George and Kimmy fighting really was so bad for Oscar.

SPEAKER_00

Because he he went and changed his tires immediately, pretty much, and then got stuck in the back. Yes. It was bad. Lando waited a little bit and he was able to kind of like make his way up.

SPEAKER_01

Well, and then Lando had to pit again on lap 16 because of a reliability problem. And spoiler alert, that really bit him in the butt later because he had to retire on the lap 40.

SPEAKER_00

There were so many retirements. Obviously, Arvid, Lando. Um hold on, I like pulled. I have it, I think. No, I don't have it. I have it. It was okay. We had Arvid, then we had Alex, poor Alex, then Fernando, then George Russell.

SPEAKER_01

Oh god, which we'll get to that.

SPEAKER_00

Then Lando, then Chaco. I mean, honestly.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even know what happened with Cheko, but you know. I don't think anyone does. Something just like snapped off his car. Yeah, like it was like the tire he fell off. He didn't even run into anyone. Um, but it was such a bummer. I I did say like Mercedes was truly it was like Red Bull, like in 2023 or whatever. Like he was in like they were in a league of their own. Like Max was like almost seven seconds behind at one point.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, he got up to like four once the virtual safety car happened there then, but never got close.

SPEAKER_01

And I think I have some of the timing for like the end of the race, but like such huge gaps. Like Hamilton finished, I think, like 10 seconds, 10 seconds behind Antonelli, like Hajar was 43 behind LeClaire, LeClaire was like 22 behind Verstappen. Like, there was just so many. I like did Antonelli lap like two times some of these people.

SPEAKER_00

Well, what I I have a note about how confusing it was that Oscar was like in the mix of the top three when he was all the way in the back. 100% so confusing. Well, you're used to seeing him up there. You're like, wait, did he like get up? Like what? It was fun seeing Lewis and like it was an exciting race. Like, obviously, the Mercedes like going at it. That was wild. And then George locking up, and then his engine just failing or turning off or whatever happened, and then him just looking at his car Oh my god.

SPEAKER_01

Like literally looked devastated. The memes were good. They're gonna keep going.

SPEAKER_00

It's like it's just the memes were good. Yeah, and then the the steward who had to like jump into the little hole. Oh, that was for clearing off debris. Oh my god. That was crazy.

SPEAKER_01

That was hilarious. Yeah, he like ran out. He was gonna get the steward ran out, he was gonna get literally run over by a car, and he like cartoon jumped like head first, like through the railing. It was and then they were joking, they're like, we needed an aerial shot to make sure he's okay. Like, because you couldn't see him. Um, but I think too, with that, Oscar got a 10-second second penalty. And the reason why Albon DNF'd was because Oscar ran into Albon, really not intentionally. I just don't think he likely saw him.

SPEAKER_00

Alex was going so slow, they said. They said he was going so much slower that it was like he couldn't Oscar couldn't. The timing just like didn't work out the way that they wanted it to.

SPEAKER_01

Um, at one point, one of the I think it was Harry Benjamin, the um one of the announcer guys was like delirious racing in Formula One coming from Mercedes because they are just like going back and forth and like again, no one wants to hear my thoughts on Kimmy. But again, I just like he is so fast. So that's why he's winning when he gets up into his own space. But my god, when he's trying to pass other people, it is it's chaos. It is chaos, Kimmy.

SPEAKER_00

It's chaos, Kimmy.

SPEAKER_01

And I will say George was out on his own accord at lap 31. It just seemed like he he locked up, he was pushing too hard, and his car like gave up on him.

SPEAKER_00

There was a I have a note that on lap 25 or lap 24, Kimmy went over and then took first place. And then they were like, Kimmy, you have to get the position back. Oh, yeah. And Kimmy was like, What's the point? Oh sassy. Yeah, he's been like chaotic Kimmy is a good way to play.

SPEAKER_01

Chaotic Kimmy. Um, I think a lot I'm more like out of order, but Alonzo did retire on lap 27. So it was um Alonzo, then George, and then Lando, then Checo was at lap 43.

SPEAKER_00

Um I felt like Lando went so much longer. Me too. But it I think the race went by really quick. It was like slow but long all of the same. It was like everyone, I don't want to say processional because it it truly it didn't feel like they were just in a processional, but there wasn't a lot of like people switching around. Um, they definitely didn't show everything happening. Like there was a lot, like like the Alex Oscar thing.

SPEAKER_01

I didn't realize what I I don't know how F1 TV, like how they really do their coverage. And I feel like there's a lot of better things happening, but I know there's been some criticism. And we do want to see the leaders fighting, which is what we got. Like, we got so much George and um Kimmy fighting, which is great. But there was one point where we saw Albon dropping on the screen, but we didn't know why.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, we were like, what the heck?

SPEAKER_01

And then there was a yellow flag, and it seemed like every time there was a VSC, a yellow flag, or some sort of safety car, it took them forever to tell us, like, or like go to what was happening.

SPEAKER_00

Even the commentators were not, they were like, We don't know what's going on, we haven't gotten this yet. So I don't know what that's about. Like either. Also, can we talk about jumping around again at the beginning of the race where they show what's happening from down like just like the side of the car view instead of up above? I hate that. Oh, like the front wing. I cannot tell what's going on towards the end with first happen. No, not the not the front wing, but when they're like showing all the cars just going by and and you can't tell who's passing who. Do you want to? Yes, yes. Yeah, I like why cannot why can we not just see the first turn from an aerial view?

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. I think those are the best. And when they do that with the hairpin, it looks so sick. Yes. I love looking at that. Yes, that's what we want. Um I think the another funny thing, a George on the moped, like when they got taken out of the page. Yeah, they like took and they like take the view back of George on the moped. And then, but in contrast, it was like we were like, what are we looking at? And it was this huge pack of people, and it's like I spy, like, where's Waldo? Like, where's Lando? Like Lando, no. In the middle of this huge pack of people, like we're just trying to shuffle him along. Volon is like in his face. Poor drivers, whereas George had no one around him, but I'm sure he was in just a different part of the track where everything went down and happened. Um, I think Valkyrie Botas got like a randomly a five-second penalty. I can't remember.

SPEAKER_00

It was a speeding in the pit lane or something. Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_01

Or maybe Fernando got that. I don't know. Someone sped in the pit lane. Again, there were so many. Isaac got a stop and go penalty. He got two penalty. At the end, yeah, he had a 10 seconds penalty, which he was behind Cola Pinto by like 40 seconds. Yeah, we were like, Oh, okay, 30 seconds, um, or 50 seconds now, and then yeah, he had a stop and go penalty. Um, I and then truly there wasn't much happening other than like at the end, Lulu and Verstappen had a good battle. That was fun for second place.

SPEAKER_00

Susan said Verstappen's just stalking him. I was like, he is, he's coming. He is, but yeah, Lulu got him. Max was having some like tire temperature issues, it sounded like, and Louis was like getting more power. It sounded like he was having a good a good time.

SPEAKER_01

He was like really throwing out some his like classic, like inspirational. Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Like, we've got this guy is like I'm gonna keep pushing. Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

I was like, okay, Louis.

SPEAKER_00

It was good. It was really, it was a fun that was fun to watch. I mean, Kimmy just sailing away was kind of like whatever. Yeah, boring. Yeah. But the the two P2, P3, that was good. Like we were like, ooh, who is gonna be where on the podium?

SPEAKER_01

So again, I feel like it was almost similar where it felt like there was maybe after like lap 40 to like 60, not a ton of action, but there was some at the end that really picked up. So I think again, overall, probably the most exciting race that we've had so far, and it's only race five.

SPEAKER_00

They're getting more and more exciting too.

SPEAKER_01

Which is yes, thank god. Yeah, thank god.

SPEAKER_00

I mean, it's it's funny because I do think the whole three formation lap situation was a different kind of chaos.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, but I liked it. Yeah, it kept us on our toes, really kept us on our toes. I think one other just random thing to note is their helmets got so dirty. So dirty. And I guess it was I guess it was wet.

SPEAKER_00

The and the dirt, like the dust we were. They were going off into the grass, the dust, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

But they were disgusting. Maybe there's some mosquitoes happening. I've never even thought about that, actually. Gross.

SPEAKER_00

I guess you always see the the tear aways like flying.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, yes, yeah. Which I did see one, and then they were like, oh, strategically throwing it in Kimmy's way. Yeah. It's like, oh yeah, get that caught in a give in a pipe, an exhaust pipe. Um, I think, yeah, so any all that to say, um, Kimmy won.

SPEAKER_00

Kimmy is still fully in the number one spot for the driver's championship. And Mercedes is fully number one for constructors. Like, it is their race still to lose.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_00

Um, but yeah, we've got Kimmy, uhrea Kimmy, P1, 131 points. Dang. Duchess still number two, even though he is claiming that the gods do not want him in this race. Yeah, he has 88 points.

SPEAKER_01

Charlotte Claire still feels like someone doesn't want me to fight or compete for this championship. Yeah, poor George.

SPEAKER_00

He's kind of being a sad boy. I hope, I hope he's okay. Poor little. I hope Sogo's okay. I'm really sad about Sogo.

SPEAKER_01

I don't even want to know.

SPEAKER_00

Oh, poor guy. Okay, Charlotte Claire. He has 75 points. Then Louis Lulu did pop up ahead of Lando after this race. So he's got 72, so only three behind Charlotte Claire. And then Lando with 58 points. Oscar has 10 points less than Lando, 48. Then we have Max.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, five points behind Oscar.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, and then we have Pierre, who's still hanging on from his P7 stint in the first couple races, and then Ollie Behrman. Number nine. P9 with 18 points. Good for him. Yeah. So it's Mercedes, Ferrari, and then McLaren for construction. Wow. Yeah, again.

SPEAKER_01

Two by two by two officially. Again. Um, I think just some funny things to note as part of the celebration is Kimmy did make it over the fence. Um, and they were cradling him like a baby.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, Rachel did not want to admit that he did good jumping, and so we were like, but look at how they're holding him.

SPEAKER_01

It was funny. And then I will say, so sweet on the podium. It was like Max and Lulu just being so kind and like excited for him.

SPEAKER_00

Yes, Lulu like picking him up there at the end, and Bono looking at his boys again. That was really cool. That was so sweet.

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, and then um the Mercedes, whoever was representing Mercedes for their trophy, and Louis picking up Kimmy on their shoulders. I was like, what is this movie moment?

SPEAKER_00

Also, Max and Lulu just going at Kimmy with a champagne. Douse. Like just they were like, you're getting soaked, dude. And also, we can't not say Maxi did get his first podium. First podium.

SPEAKER_01

That was my next thought. Finally. Finally. Only took five races.

SPEAKER_00

Just took a Nurbergring DNFing at hour 20.

SPEAKER_01

And I will say he got P3. So he did, right? Yeah. Today? Yeah. Yeah. So it's um, yeah, he he three for P3.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, that's lucky. Yeah, I would say, you know, I wore the lucky three sweatshirt yesterday. We saw the Red Bull flagged at the end of our race.

SPEAKER_01

Do you think also the power of number three being on a racetrack again? I think that just charged it up.

SPEAKER_00

Danny Rick, you need to come back to something, some sort of racing.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like the power of the Max needs you. My back hurts so much. Oh no. I'm feeling weird. Do we need to stand up? No, we're almost standing up. Um, sorry, that felt a little chaotic, you guys. I feel like, again, there was just so much happening.

SPEAKER_00

Wow, I feel like we've been talking for like no time at all.

SPEAKER_01

I know we're 105.

unknown

Oh man.

SPEAKER_00

We're always we always think we're never gonna have enough to talk about.

SPEAKER_01

And here we are.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, last but not least.

SPEAKER_01

Formula Run Club.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, so I'm gonna say your results, Rachel, and then you can see my response. Okay, so recap Formula Run Club. We get a random driver, we predict their place. And then whatever place they actually finish, we have to run the the that that delta amount of miles. Yep. So Rachel got Oscar. She predicted that he would end P3. Oscar Piastri finished in P11, so Rachel has to run eight miles before the next race, which we have two weeks.

SPEAKER_01

I feel like I'll hopefully be able to do that. You better this week.

SPEAKER_00

You better.

SPEAKER_01

It's gonna be so nice outside, and I need clearly like mental help.

SPEAKER_00

Marathon training starts in a Mere few weeks. Yes, officially. We have like a month.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Until the 21st of June. Um, and then Lexi.

SPEAKER_00

Me and Sogo are pointing out right now.

SPEAKER_01

You're having the worst luck. Um I am, I'm the worst at this. Lexi said George P1, which was looking so good. I was like, hell yeah. I'm not gonna have to run any miles. Um, DNF in the 19th position. So we're saying 18 miles. You will need probably the two weeks. Yeah, I mean I actually you can probably do that in a week.

SPEAKER_00

I think I have only like I've got like two, three. Wait, that's five plus like another five this week. That's only like ten. Yeah, I'm gonna I'm gonna need the two weeks.

SPEAKER_01

Which is fine. We have two weeks. We have two weeks. Because the next race is the iconic Lexi's first Monaco Grand Prix! Monaco. Oh my gosh. I'm so excited for you, even though the race isn't that exciting. Did you say it's at 8 a.m.? Yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_00

8 a.m. You know, I'm actually okay. John and I were talking about this. I actually don't mind the really early races because you kind of get you. Then we can enjoy our afternoon. Like right now it's 7 p.m. Yes, and I have to like carve out all this. I'm like, okay, we gotta do all these things and watch all the and then the sprint race.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it just feels like we like can't take our time researching some things after because it's like we gotta record.

SPEAKER_00

Or like even process it.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, no, because I'm sure like we're gonna have extra thoughts that crop up. Oh, yeah. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_00

Oh man. To follow us on Instagram, we'll pop them up. Pop them up, we'll pop up our thought.

SPEAKER_01

Um pop them up. Thanks for bearing with us, you guys, in our chaotic energy today. But what else is new? I think that's just the vibe. That is the legacy we are leaving.

SPEAKER_00

So I have I have one little random thought, and it's not F1 related at all. It's AI related. I just think I needed to talk this through with you, and maybe we should have done this off mic, but okay. I, you know, we're always joking about like, oh, we're so chaotic and whatever. Actually, I have two thoughts. One is AI and one's a John comment that goes into this. John said, I'm starting to realize that organized means angst anxious instead of type A. Oh. Which I thought was hilarious. I was like, you're taking this, it took you how many years to figure that out, yeah, sir. But then AI, whenever I'm like, help me do this thing or write this thing, it's like great, chaotic and whatever. And I'm like, sure, I guess I'm chaotic, sure, whatever. But then I was talking to someone at work, and their chat GPT was telling them the same thing. So does does AI just make everyone feel like they're chaotic, or are we all just chaotic?

SPEAKER_01

Maybe because it's we're using AI and we're not slowing down to plan things ourselves.

SPEAKER_00

But usually when I use AI, it's because I've planned it and I need it tweaking.

SPEAKER_01

You just need it like finesse. Yeah. I don't know. So someone said I was organized this week and then type A, and I'm definitely not. You have seen my home.

SPEAKER_00

Anxious. It's the anxiety, and that's what and that's fine. That's how I cope with it too.

SPEAKER_01

How did we get here? I maybe we're like George, and George was manifesting that he's bad in um Miami, and maybe we're just manifesting by saying we're chaotic, that we are manifesting chaos. So stop saying that.

SPEAKER_00

Well, I love I like the thought that we're type C, we do all the things, and then when we don't have anything to do, we just rot on the couch. Yeah. I love it. Yeah. New type. Yeah, it's our new type. That's us. Anyway. Thanks for thanks for talking through the therapy session with me, everyone.

SPEAKER_01

Um, we'll be back next week with another episode that I'm sure will be filled with other thoughts on the race and chaos and corruption. No, I don't know. That's just another C-word I could think of. Hopefully, Flavio sighting. Hopefully a Flavio sighting. Hopefully, I don't know what else I'm hoping for.

SPEAKER_00

Maybe Rachel will get a blob fleece. Oh my god, yeah, hoping for a blob fleece. Yeah, that'd be cool. That's great.

SPEAKER_01

We need to end this.

SPEAKER_00

Okay, like us on Instagram, comment on Spotify, leave us and Apple podcasts.

SPEAKER_01

We will be so grateful so that other people can find us.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah, thank you for listening, everyone, and enjoy your race and sprint weekend. And we will see you on Sunday. Bye. Bye.
