Episode 12: The Tiredness That Food Can’t Fix
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
There’s a kind of tiredness I want to talk about today.
Not the tiredness sleep fixes.
Not the tiredness a holiday fixes.
But the exhaustion that comes from carrying too much for too long.
If you’re someone who is capable, responsible, high functioning…
If your life mostly looks “together”…
And food is the one place where things sometimes unravel —
This episode is for you.
Because if emotional eating were about discipline, it wouldn’t keep happening.
If it were about willpower, knowing better would be enough.
And if it were about nutrition, you wouldn’t still feel stuck in the same cycles.
What’s actually happening is nervous system overload.
In this episode, we explore:
- Why emotional eating is a pattern, not a failure
- How food becomes the safest, fastest form of relief when you’ve learned to cope alone
- The different parts involved — the responsible parts, the comfort parts, the rebel parts, and the critical parts
- Why trying to “fix” behaviour often makes things worse
- How diet culture and the wellness industry keep people stuck by ignoring what’s underneath
We talk about the pressure so many women carry — the good girl template, hyper-independence, holding it together, not needing anything, not slowing down — and how that pressure lives in the body.
This episode is also about what actually changes things.
Not more rules.
Not more control.
Not trying harder.
But shifting the relationship you have with yourself.
Learning to meet the parts of you that learned to cope in silence.
Letting your body become a place you can actually be.
Slowing down just enough to feel what you need — rest, connection, boundaries, softness, pleasure.
Because food was never the problem.
And neither were you.
Your system adapted brilliantly to survive.
And now it’s asking for something different.
Not fixing.
Not pressure.
But a safer, more attuned relationship with yourself.
