Hi, everyone. I'm Kathy Richardson.

After a long career in radio news, starting in 1979 at WABB AM & 97 FM and WHIL FM 91.3, followed by years away from radio, I'm back -- not on the air but in a podcast -- joining forces with three friends and old radio buddies to bring, not news and information this time, but an exploration of Mobile history in “Meanwhile…Mobile.”

As well as working in radio, I've also co-produced the video “Experience Mobile Mardi Gras,” wrote the “Points South” column for the Mobile Press Register for a couple of years until Hurricane Katrina came to call, and also spent several years with the Mobile Genealogical Society, learning about how good research can overcome brick walls.  

Every two weeks, Joe Cuhaj, Dennis Gould and I will crack open the rusty hinges of an  old trunk in the attic of time for a new story to tell. And this is what “Meanwhile … Mobile” is all about.

I came to Mobile from Baltimore in 1986 to work as Dennis McKay at WIZD, Wizard 104.

In 1988 I started the job that I still have at  Soundworks Recording Studio working alongside  my partners, Wilma Haupt & founder, Barry Silverman - AKA Gary Mitchell. 

Our voices have been heard on Radio, TV and industrial narrations for the last 35+years.

Hi, everyone. Nice to meet you.

I am a former radio on-air personality, music director, and program director turned author. I came to Mobile from my home state of New Jersey to continue my radio career in 1981. You may remember me by my radio name, “Joe Davis” or as my colleagues called me, “JoJo Davis."

I've always been fascinated with history. I love reading and learning about the events that have made us who we are as a country and people, but what I'm mostly interested in are the little known, obscure, and forgotten events and characters that have been lost in the mists of time but need to be told.

Over the past 26 years, I have had 22 nonfiction history and outdoor recreation books released by various publishers including “Hidden History of Mobile”, “A History Lover’s Guide to Mobile and the Alabama Gulf Coast”, and “Baseball in Mobile”. 

I'm really excited to join my radio colleagues for this adventure, Meanwhile...Mobile!
