Welcome to the Nutrition Factor. I'm your host, Dr. Jimmy Steiger. On this day's show, we're going to be discussing and talking to you about nervous insomnia. There's a lot of patients that come to our clinic, have rest issues, sleep issues, sleep disturbances, cannot sleep correctly due to several things, and I'm going to discuss those with you today. So before we get into insomnia itself, I want to talk a little bit about the brain and the nervous system. If you have a pen and paper, you may want to write these down. These are very important things to consider when we're looking at the nutrition factor, which is a very important issue here because it is the key to all of it. So when a patient comes in our office, we discuss two things with them. One is always going to be diet, nutrition, proper supplementation, the other one's going to be proper cervical alignment, which is done through chiropractic or any type of manipulation, whether it be through a PT or an atriopath that knows and understands correct cervical alignment and manipulation of the spine. So a lot of our patients will come in, and uh you can clearly see their gait is off, their neck is out of alignment. So we discuss with them three things in the neck that need to be corrected. One is the occiput, which is the base of the brain on the back side of the neck, without the occiput being properly aligned, the C1 cervical bone number one, which is called the atlas. Cervical bone number two, the axis cannot properly stay in alignment. So whether you believe or do not believe, or have never been to a chiropractor, you need to consider that as one of your first options. If you're seeing a naturopath or nutritionist that understands this, they can clearly help you. This is what we see every day at our clinic. So if you have this kind of problem, I can help you with this very quickly. So getting alignment in your spine through proper manipulation with a good chiropractor is extremely important because it doesn't matter what type of nutrition program you're on. If your C1, C2 is out of line, you're gonna have problems with restless sleep and many other issues, which we'll get into later. But since this show is on insomnia, we're clearly talking about getting the bones in the neck, the cervical, C1, and C2 aligned correctly, and making sure you find a good chiropractor that'll get that oxaput in line too. So when we look at the brain and the nerves, your body needs these nutrients on a daily basis. When a patient comes into our clinic, one of the first things we do after our initial consult is we do a VMA vitamin minimal amino acid test on our patients to clearly see what the patient is missing. Doesn't matter, children, teens, adults, alike, everybody has some type of nutritional deficiency causing usually multitudes of problems. So when we sit down with a patient, a lot of times they'll come in with one or two issues, so they think, and by the time we finish talking to them 30 or 45 minutes later, you can clearly see they have many more problems than what they thought they had. And by the time I bring that this out and talk to them about it, they can clearly see and identify what's going on, especially after we do the VMA test, find out what their nutrients look like. Vitamins, minerals, and amino acids are extremely important. They make up the entire micronutrient profile that we're looking for to help people understand better why they're having the problems they're having. So the brain and the nerves and the body need a full array of B complex vitamins. That includes B1, B2, B3, B6, B12, B13, choline, folate. Some people like to call it folic acid. This really needs to be the natural form, which is folate, and acetol, niacin, panashenic acid. Your body needs vitamin C, D, E, and F. And remember the vitamins are called the building blocks of the human body. We need them every day. However, what's more important is the minerals, the minerals that take care of the brain and control nervous insomnia is calcium, magnesium, iron, manganese. And manganese is the most important mineral in the body. So remember this. So if manganese is not where it needs to be, calcium is number two, it can't get there. Mangnesium, then we need phosphorus, potassium, zinc, fluorine, which is organic form, not fluoride. We need iodine, we need silicon and sulfur. Most people in this country are missing organic sulfur in their diet, so they have problems with their skin, hair, and nails. However, if the sulfur is missing in the brain, the neurons are not going to fire correctly, and you're going to have problems tremendously. If people like to take herbs, which we do herbal medicine here as well with our clinic, however, nutrition from the vitamin, mineral, amino acid standpoint has to be first. But if you're into herbal medicine, uh you can look at taking things like valerian, lobilia, skull cap, and oat straw, which all have some of these nutrients in them and can help you tremendously with brain health, especially relaxation at night and getting better quality sleep. So these are important issues to look at. So along with proper cervical alignment and the proper nutrients you need, uh, you should never have any type of insomnia as long as you're getting taken care of on both of these levels. So we address both of them when they come to our clinic and we get them straight. Nervous insomnia, uh, like many other conditions, are directly due to this very thing, which is lack of nutrients to the cells. And um, so this has to be considered uh as a result of our modern-day society, or what we call modern-day civilization, with all this high-tech speed, 5G network we got going on now, which is ruining our lives, ruining our bodies, because the frequency is too high. So when the frequency rattles too high in the brain or the body, you get too close to this stuff, it destroys your body's ability to be able to relax correctly. So if you're trying to sleep, get good quality sleep, you always need to get to bed by 9 or 9.30 at night, not after 10, because the liver heals between 10 and 12. If you get to bed too late, you're gonna ruin the liver. You're gonna have nervous insomnia, you're never gonna sleep correctly. And um, so it's important we get to bed at a good time. Cut the TV, cut the phone off, get that off your bed. Do not ever sleep with a cell phone on your bed. If you put it on your nightstand, or the further away from you you can put it, the better. And uh, yes, it's quite true that overwork, worry, too much worry, mental stress that we see in our society, et cetera, aggravates uh any type of disilment. But the real cause is lowered resistance to such stress, lowered stamina, increased nervous irritability because of deficient nutrition in the diet. Most every single person I see has tremendous nutritional deficiencies, which causes a multitude of problems. The metabolism of calcium and magnesium must be normal to ensure properly function of the entire nervous system, and that includes the brain and your sleep pattern. Not to speak of the possibility of deficiency of these two mineral elements. Their assimilation and use can normally occur only in the presence of vitamins, all of which, uh, with a possible exception of B, uh concerned. Vitamin A deficiency is known to be the cause of kidney stones. Yes, it's true. We see a lot of patients with kidney problems. Vitamin A is a big deal when you're dealing with the overall output of the kidneys and keeping the kidneys from crystallizing. Vitamins C and D are best known factors in bone and tooth development. Vitamins E and F are necessary to convert the blood calcium and magnesium into a form that is useful to muscles and nerves. Most arthritis in this country is due to the lack of vitamins E and F, along with the minerals manganese and selenium. Manganese and selenium are the two primary minerals that control everything that happens in the joints. So if you have joint problems, it doesn't matter what it is, you need manganese and selenium. And this affects the brain tremendously. And G deficiency causes cataracts of the eyes, the most pronounced consequence of precipitation of calcium occurring in the soft tissue. Extreme irritability, which we see a lot of, or the nervous system occurs if there's a deficiency in the blood of calcium and magnesium. Children, which we see, a lot of children in our clinic, from the time they're born to some of my oldest patients, which are over 120 years of age, children with a low blood calcium are extremely unmanageable at nighttime. They're restless and usually have some type of chip on the shoulder. What we call a chip on the shoulder disposition. And when you take and you get the calcium and magnesium they need in their brain, and these other nutrients we're talking about, you see their brain calm down. It's a big, big deal with ADD and ADHD. Animals deprived of dietary magnesium alone will die in a convulsive fit on the slightest disturbance of these nutrients. And uh if you've ever seen the experiment or given pigeons white rice or white flour, within a couple days, pigeons will start flapping their wings backwards and walking backwards. It makes them mentally insane, it drives them crazy. They do this in sane asylums in this country. Most people are not aware of that. But white flour and white rice, which are devoid of nutrients, especially B vitamins, which is what we're talking about here, will make you mentally insane. So stay away from white flour at all cost. Have you ever seen a hungry baby go peacefully to sleep? No, it's not gonna happen. Their body's looking for nutrition, and we're not talking about these baby formulas out there either. Parents, please feed your kids good quality breast milk, or if you have to, you can convert over to goat's milk if they're still nursing. Adults can't go peacefully to sleep either, either if you're starving them. It don't matter who you are. So you must supply the human body with the correct nutrition for proper sleep. Proper nutrients to the cells are the remedy completely offered for insomnia as long as the cervical alignment is correct. Unlike drugs, its effects are purely constructive, and the amount required is all based off the individual. Every individual is different. And therefore, that's the reason we do the VMA testing, which clearly shows this. The correct dosage must be tested for each individual so we'll know what the patient needs. And in most cases, one cap full of my custom minerals, which is called a custom mineral formula that we custom design for our patients. First thing in the morning is the usual range to begin with because of its physiological action, and you can't overdose on my product, so you don't have to worry about taking too much of it. We have all of our patients do one ounce first thing in the morning, and those of you who are listening that are my patients know this, though this is very important. So if you think you're gonna take too much, you don't have to worry about that. We properly tell all our patients how much to take. So if you're taking uh minerals late at night, sometimes it causes wakefulness and it's a well-known effect for eliminating fatigue and being tired is what we're after. We want to eliminate this type of stuff. So people feel great during the day and at night time it's time to go to bed. They clearly go to bed and knock out and stay asleep. Good quality, sound sleep is most important for recuperation of the body. Another effect of the proper diet is to clarify and normalize the brain function, which is what this is all about. And it's commonly observed fact that school children taking supplementation for some other purpose soon receive much better grades in their school subjects, especially those who have difficulty keeping up. Okay, and I've proven this over and over and over again with patients that come to me that are considered, quote, ADD or ADHD, and the patients in their school grades, it don't matter what their age is, if they're diagnosed with this, which is most of the time incorrect diagnosis by the medical industry, then we can correct this by proper diet and once again getting the adjustment to the C1 and C2 in the child or the adult. There's a medical doctor by the name of Dr. H. M. Johnson many years ago, in his research on sleep found that periodic changes of position were made in a person's sleep, and the typical sleeper's period of rest between changes of position varies with age. And in infancy, a child usually rests only for about five minutes at a time, and the period lengthens to about 15 to 20 minutes in maturity or an adult, and this drops back gradually to about seven to eight minutes with older age. Manual laborers rest for longer periods than brain workers. Women get about thirty percent longer than men. Organic phosphorus and magnesium, as we mentioned this, are uh a phosphate deficiency caused mainly by the use of white flour products, once again, is a big deal. So if you have this phosphate deficiency, this brings about a tendency for de uh deposition of the calcium as carbonate in the soft tissues. And this changes um as we change our diet. And it's responsible for the increased restlessness at night. And a lot of people call this writer's cramp or old school people used to call it accelerator foot. We have restless leg syndrome, etc. All this is due to lack of nutrients in the body, people, and this can all be fixed. There was another MD by the name of uh Dr. Giddings, Dr. Glenville Giddings found in a series of sleep experiments on children that during any type of epidemic, he could clearly predict the onset of disease several days in advance by increased motility of the child during their sleep. So he found while fever itself had no appreciable effect on children's motility, but antipyretics, which is drugs, okay. And what are antipyretics? They are substances that reduce fever by lowering the body's temperature. Common example of this would be something like uh aspirin, ibuprofen, or acetaminophen, and they're designed to relieve fever in children or any type of associated discomfort in the human body. They're non-steroidal, but they're anti-inflammatory drugs used to primarily treat any type of uh inflammatory issue in the body. So a lot of people revert to this, which is not healthy, but people do it just because it's quick. It's a drug they go out to the store, and these drugs are designed to force their way into the cell, and in 10 to 30 minutes, you're getting relief, whether it be from sleep or some type of anti-inflammatory reaction with arthritis or pain. These facts all fit together with what we have said regarding deficiency conditions. Normal body function is a situation of delicate balance, very delicate, particularly harmonic balance and osmotic balance. Supply the complete nutritional picture to the human body, which is the correct nutrients, and all forces of nature will accomplish the rest that it needs. And we're not getting proper rest, we always know that there's some type of disturbance. And it's really surprising to see how quickly you can dissolve calcium deposits with the addition of adding organic phosphorus to one's diet. So if you're having problems with calcium deposits, kidney stones, too much calcium oxalate in the body, by adding the correct phosphorus in your diet, which is the right types of nutrients, the right types of greens, this can clearly be dissolved in the human blood. Very important. Um these are not irreparable damages by any degree. The degree of recovery, for instance, is quite remarkable in some cases in arterioscrosis. So if you have a patient that's got this, or you're one of these people that are listening to the show that's got this, understand that you can correct these 99% of the time with the correct nutrients. The use of vitamin minerals are the missing link necessary to the success of long-known decalcifying agents. In fact, the normal diet should contain sufficient amount of both the decalcifying agents, phosphates, and the vitamins to prevent such pathology of the human body. But when the pathology is found, we need to move quickly for all forms of essential minerals in these cases, and even more selective ones. Once we perform a proper VMA on the patient, we can clearly see what they are missing. So once again, just going out and buying vitamins and minerals off the shelf may help you correct certain things. But remember that most of these supplements you're buying in the industry are a grade B or grade C product. Our primary sponsor, Lifeguard Nutrition, builds only a grade A, tier one product, totally different than what you see 90% out there in the industry, and this is not to knock anyone. We don't do that. I'm just telling you the facts. Being in the field of nutrition for over 45 years and studying this since I was six years of age, I can clearly tell you there's a lot of garbage out there. So it's important you select good quality brands, people that are irreparable. It's going to build good quality vitamins and minerals. And that's what we do at LifeGuard Nutrition. We build the best, all good quality products, no garbage, no synthetic materials, and we don't use folic acid in our B vitamins or our multis, so you're getting a good quality methylfolated form, which is extremely important.
