Welcome to the Nutrition Factor. I'm your host, Dr. Jimmy Steager, and today we're going to be talking about the metabolism of adipose tissue. And we're not going to be discussing fat or fat loss, so let's don't get that confused. That particular show will be saved for a later date, and we'll be clearly talking about that later on. For those who are wishing to lose body fat, wanting to lean out, that is a total separate show that we'll be discussing in detail later on. However, for those who are concerned with losing weight, it's pretty simple math, and I'll teach you that later on. So trying to lose weight, it's pretty simple. If you're taking in 2,500 calories a day and want to lose weight, fat weight that is, or adipose tissue, drop down to 2,000 calories a day for a week or two and weigh yourself. I do not suggest any of my patients weigh themselves daily, get too caught up in the numbers versus how they look and how they feel. So gaining weight and losing weight are total separate program. And once again, we'll be discussing that later on. So if you're interested in losing body fat, just do the math. It's pretty simple. And when we talk about dropping your calories, we're not talking about dropping the carbs only. We're talking about the total calories in your diet. And by dropping 500 calories a day, you should start to see a difference in as little as seven days, which is the way we start some of our patients, especially if we're trying to bodybuild. We got a real strict uh diet for those people anyway, starting 12 to 16 weeks out. And uh we can clearly hone them in, get them ready for contest preparation pretty quick. If you're just an average individual wanting to drop body fat, once again start by dropping 500 calories a week and watch what happens to you. So, once again, today we're going to talk about the metabolism of adipose tissue. So let's start by saying that the fatty acids uh in the body are converted after what we call desaturation in the liver to glycogen by the end or what we call the aid of the pancreatic principle or the organic compound betane, and thereby becomes fuel for the production of heat and muscular energy. The betane is supplied normally by the pancreas because in experiments with animals, removal of the pancreas will not result fatally if insulin and betaine are given to the animal. Without the insulin, blood sugar rises. Without betane, liver fat rises and blood sugar drops. The liver fat will increase from a normal 3% to 35% under these normal circumstances. In diabetes, it is common for the blood fat to rise unduly as well as the liver fat. If we assume that the end product of the fat is blood sugar, which is glycogen, and that the consumption of glycogen is hindered by the shortage of insulin, we realize how and why the fat content of blood and liver can rise. It rises merely because the demand has decreased and the supply has not. The increase in blood and liver fat can cause serious symptoms alone, and it is uh accepted fact that diabetic coma is a direct result of high blood fat rather than high blood sugar. And this is clearly noted in the New England Journal of Medicine Journal, volume 2009, page 525. And so this goes back for uh many, many years uh in learning and discovering this. The blood fat may rise from a normal 1% to 25%, and such a situation is possibly a case of inability to convert fat to sugar rather than wholly a case inability to metabolize sugar or an insulin deficiency. No doubt one factor causing a slowing of conversion of fat to sugar in the liver is already high blood sugar in the diabetic patient. But let us not forget the tepancreas is also the source of the betane that is necessary for this job to be done correctly. Another very significant fact is that betane is associated in food materials with vitamin B, being found in wheat bran to the extent of 35%. Now, I have all my patients on a B complex vitamin, and when we do the VMA testing, which we'll talk about later, we always test for a complete spectrum of all the vitamins, all the minerals, and all the amino acids, and that's extremely important to know exactly where their B vitamins lie, because that's extremely important in the entire body's functioning correctly, especially the brain, and even for the diabetic patient and the metabolism of burning fat correctly. Another source of betane is lestin, from which is supposedly formed by oxidation of its choline compound. With this being said, there should be less danger of a deficiency as eggs are well loaded with lestin also. And otherwise, cereals unrefined, that is, good quality grains, which is hard to find nowadays, are good sources as lestin is present in the germ of a good quality organic grain. A vegetarian diet with refined cereals could very possibly be deficient also in less than. However, this truly explains why the diabetically inclined person is usually overweight. We see this in our clinic every day, and most of our patients that come in that have diabetes are overweight, unfortunately, and this all has to be corrected by correcting the pancreas and putting the right nutrients in the body. There are four minerals that control the pancreas. Those are chromium, vanadium, indium, and bismuth. Three of those you very seldom hear about in normal society. Everybody's caught up in the chromium. However, they're not looking at the others, and they're all very important equally to the diabetic patient. So the islands of Langerhein is functioning correctly. And when people get on uh these shots and these harsh drugs over a period of time, the pancreas starts to not function even at the level it once was uh before they started the uh medicine. And you'll see that most of those people are not doing anything correctly because no one has taught them how to clearly correct the nutrition which would correct the diabetes. Um so the overweight person usually doesn't convert the normal amount of fat into sugar, therefore stores it up in the tissues of the body. And the main reason that he does this is because the conversion um of their blood sugar does not disappear at the normal rate because of the insulin deficiency. Many um people are fat because of reasons other than insulin deficiency as well, and betane deficiency is the reason in some cases of the pancreatic disorder that prevents the proper secretion of the betane factor. It is quite possible that the average non-diabetic obesity case, excluding from consideration the hypothyroid patient, can be oversupplied with fat because of an inability to convert fat to sugar. We know that certain harmonic controls have a bearing on the situation, and the center of such control is in all probability located in the pituitary gland, both the anterior and posterior hormones being the factors. While it has been long known that a posterior pituitary principle was instrumental in reducing intestinal alimentary absorption as much as 50%. A posterior pituitary hormone called patrescin also contracts the coronary artery, and the fact that this alter was dilated by a pancreatic hormone, we can see that this heart throttle control is a balance between these two influences. Besides the control of the nervous system, it is known that the duodenal hormone apparently must be present in the bloodstream to release both patrescin of the pituitary and pedutin of the pancreas. Disease of the duodenal um or duodenum ulcers, etc., is fairly common. Therefore, there can be obesity or other types of disease because of the shortage either of the duodenal hormone or the pancreatic hormone. We have three now that we're looking at the pedutin, the patane carrier, and insulin, all of which probably used the duodenal stimulus or of the patrescin, without which the intestinal absorption can double and the heart throttle opens wide open. It is known that overdrose uh overdosage of the synthetic patresin, not the one that the body manufactures, can cause fatty degeneration of the liver. This also occurs at the patane principle from the pancreas is lacking. Petresin is known to promote glycogen production by the liver, so the fatty degeneration it causes may be a secondary consequence of the exhaustion of the patane supply of the pancreas, which is necessary to convert fats to glycogen. The secretion of patrescin gradually decreases with age. Now, once again, we're talking about the natural patresin that the body produces. So it does decrease in time. No doubt an automatic uh compensative measure to maintain harmonic balance and to mess with the normal harmonic balance is a dangerous thing to do unless the patient is in critical need of help. And this one they will revert to an inorganic or synthetic form of patresin or vasopressin supplied by their doctor. And in time, there is no doubt, but the use of these synthetic hormones, especially for the older patient, um, will become indispensable. But depending on the time, uh, and we are looking at time down the road when our knowledge of this particular element is more complete, and a full complement of the necessary hormones can be obtained by the case of correct vitamins and minerals to ensure the ample nutrition to the endocrines is the same policy to pursue. So, once again, and the most important factor in any part of the human body, uh, and the metabolism of fat distribution in the human body is no different, is to have correct nutrition. And this must precede more difficult therapeutic measures, or we'll find uh ourselves treating symptoms rather than causes, which is what's going on nowadays in our society. More people are looking at using the same old entourage of medicines that the medical industry has been putting on people since the late 1940s when big pharma came around. And uh this is extremely important. So when a patient comes to us, they need to understand there is another way, and this is the natural way. That's the reason naturopathic medicine is the real telltale of what a person needs to be looking into versus allopathic medicine, especially if they want to get well instead of mass the problems or put a band-aid on it. Once again, uh, when a patient comes to our facility, we test for all vitamins, minerals, and amino acids before we build a nutrition program with the correct nutritional supplement protocol. So we're not pulling stuff off the shelf, selling products for no reason at all, which most of the time is a waste of time for people. When they come to me, they've already gone down that road and not getting anywhere, trying to self-medicate or put themselves on the correct nutritional elements. And without testing, they don't know, and neither do we. That's the reason we don't guess. I can look at most people and tell them what they need. However, none of it is correct without the proper plan of action by testing them. So when they come in our clinic, that's exactly what we do before we build a nutrition program for our patients, regardless of what their issues may or may not be. We don't practice on our patients as the medical establishment does with its patients. We get them well. And this can only be done with correct nutrition and the absence of devitalized food and petrochemicals in one's diet. Remember, it's extremely important you understand that organic foods being the base of our program and it should be the base of yours, is the only way to heal the body. And uh you cannot rely on and never will be able to use a pharmaceutical drug of any kind to heal the tissue of the human body. So if you're interested in getting well and you want to be healthy, look no further than God's medicine. It's tried and true, and it's been around since the beginning of time. God knew this going in, and he knew that people were going to be dying off earlier. That's the reason he designed the human body to last 120 years, verses 900 at a thousand, which is what they had back in the biblical times, because he knew that people were going to be breaking the dietary laws that he set forth throughout the Bible in Genesis 1.29, Leviticus 11, and Revelation 22, at the very end of times, he clearly told us these types of things that we'd be doing as we passed and went to heaven. So for those of you that are believers out there, need to spend time in the Bible and understand that God is clearly trying to help you with this by laying out in front of you. And that's what we do here at our facility. We honor God's word and help people get well naturally.
