If you’re tired of feeling stuck, weak, or like you keep repeating the same patterns after your breakup, this episode is for you.

In this special review episode, I break down three powerful books that every man going through heartbreak or divorce needs to read:

Can’t Hurt Me by David Goggins – How to build unbreakable mental toughness and persevere through the hardest challenges

Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink – The power of radical accountability and taking full ownership of your life

No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover – How to stop people-pleasing, set strong boundaries, and show up as a masculine man in relationships

I share the biggest lessons from each book and how they directly apply to your post-breakup recovery — especially when it comes to pushing through pain, owning your mistakes, and becoming the kind of man high-quality women respect.

By applying the principles from these three books, you’ll gain real confidence, deeper self-respect, renewed motivation, and the attractive masculine behavior that changes how you show up in every area of life.

If you’re ready to stop surviving and start forging yourself into a stronger man, these books (and this episode) will light the path.

Stop waiting to feel better.

Start building yourself into someone unstoppable.

Let’s get to work.

Welcome back, gentlemen. Today is going to be the first of a two-part series on six books that will help you level up in your badass journey. We are doing three today and three more next week. In previous episodes, we've talked about expanding your mind as an effective way to get you pointed in the right direction so that your plans are more closely aligned with your badass goals. Well, what better way to do that than to learn from badasses around the world who have figured out how to get to those top levels? Before we dive in, quick disclaimer: I am not getting paid to promote any of these books. I am only sharing them with you because the value I've gotten out of them has been incredible. All six have given me that extra edge needed to push through the challenges that I have set for myself, and I guarantee they will do the same for you. You will also see a rise in your confidence, motivation, self-trust, and a bunch of other badass characteristics. And yes, I've read all of these, most of them, more than once. So without further ado, here are three books to boost you to the next level of your badass comeback. Starting out with a banger, Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins. This book is going to show you how far you can push yourself when you have an insatiable drive to accomplish extreme goals. David Goggins grew up in a poor and abusive household in Indiana. He also had to deal with crappy education, racism, and bullying. He had every reason to see himself as a victim, and he did, up until age 19. He talks about one night where he looked at his life and decided that he needed to make a drastic change. At the time, he weighed, I believe, almost 300 pounds. He was working a dead-end job. He had really bad cases of anxiety and depression. He was so sick of his life at that time that he decided to get in shape and join the Air Force. And holy hell, he did. He lost over 100 pounds in just a few months. He then made it into the Air Force as a tactical air control party specialist. He then left the Air Force after five years to become a Navy SEAL and served in Iraq with SEAL Team 5. He also completed Army Ranger School along the way. David Goggins is the only service member in history to complete this quote impossible trifecta, TACP in the Air Force, Bud's training for the SEALs, and Army Ranger School. But we're just getting started. Not only that, he's completed a ton of 200 plus mile runs, super long Ironmans, aka Ultramans, and 500 plus mile cycling events. He even set a former world record of 4,030 pull-ups in 17 hours. Guys, of all the badasses I've learned about, Goggins is number one. He talks about how your psychological dedication to accomplishing the same goals will far outlast your physical capabilities. And he proves it through what he's done and the higher goals he continues to set. And he's of course had to deal with crazy injuries from pushing himself way beyond those physical limits. But that's basically the title of the book, Can't Hurt Me. And I think it means that nothing can hurt your drive, not anyone else, not even your own body. And Goggins doesn't speak psychology language, but just about everything in this book is a masterclass in what your mind is capable of when you have uncompromising expectations of yourself. All throughout this podcast, we talk about working solutions despite how you feel. Because sometimes we don't feel like doing something that is uncomfortable but necessary. This book is going to change your perspective on that for damn sure. It's going to make it easier for you to just get up and do the hard work anyway. And remember, in order to do superhuman things, you don't actually have to be Superman. You just have to keep saying no whenever you feel like quitting. And once you read this book, you're going to realize that quitting is always a choice. Alright, book number two, Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink, another Navy SEAL. Jocko served 20 years, most notably as commander of Task Unit Bruiser during the Battle of Ramadi in Iraq, earning both a silver and a bronze star. And before I talk about the book, answer this question for me. If you are a leader and someone under you screws up, whose fault is it? This book is doing what most quote leaders are too scared to do, and that is take full accountability for their team's mistakes. Now, when I cracked this book open, I thought, well, this ought to be interesting. If someone makes a mistake, it should be their fault, right? Well, I'm glad I had an open mind because what Jocko wrote hit me in so many different ways. Not only is it going to make you see the importance of taking responsibility for your team's mistakes, it will change the way you see accountability for yourself. Everyone makes mistakes, but not everyone knows how to handle them the right way. There are too many people out there who let their egos get in the way and refuse to take accountability for them. And those are people who cannot grow. The reason for this is the ego needs to be right and cannot handle being wrong. Your ego will always get in the way of you growing because it prevents you from learning from your mistakes. Refusing to take ownership of your mistakes also demolishes trust and respect from those around you. And when you're leading a team, that fixed mindset makes it really hard to get them to follow you. But when you take ownership of your own mistakes and the mistakes of your team, you gain massive trust and respect. It's extremely tough on the front end because it's painful to admit even to yourself that you messed up or that your leadership has failed in some way. But what you gain from taking that accountability far outweighs that. This book will teach you what it takes to move on and thus increase your confidence and trust in yourself. And plus, taking accountability in these ways just makes you even more powerful. It shows that you're bigger than your ego, which will make diving into challenges that much easier. You're going to have this mindset of I'm going to do this, I'm going to fail at times, but I will know how to recover and become stronger from it. When you can do this, you will basically get rid of a massive obstacle in your badass journey and your and your life in general. And that obstacle is yourself. Alright, we're going to pivot away from the crazy military stuff. Book number three, No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover. So, if you have gone through marriage counseling and had a bad experience, you are not alone. Check this out. Before he wrote this book, Dr. Glover was a licensed marriage and family therapist. He quit that practice because he realized that a lot of standards set in marriage therapy are not effective in fixing marriages. Shocker. He details how that practice enables nice guy syndrome. A nice guy is a dude who supplicates to his woman, lets her lead the relationship, avoids things that upset her, makes excuses for her poor behavior, and changes parts of himself to fit what he thinks she wants him to be. The nice guy will people please. He is afraid of being honest and thinks it's his job to quote fix his partner's mood instead of fixing how he is showing up in the relationship. And this book will teach you how to get rid of that. Nowadays, Dr. Glover is an author, coach, and leader of workshops around the world, mainly focusing on curing nice guy syndrome. So I picked this book up because I needed some answers after a really bad breakup maybe 12 years ago. And once I started reading, I realized that I totally was that nice guy. And I had no idea. The result was, well, relationships where the dynamic was all screwed up. I had no idea what it meant to lead the relationship. I didn't even know what masculine characteristics were. And this book helped open my eyes to that. Dr. Glover outlines practical steps to get you out of nice guy's syndrome and tapped into who you really are as a masculine man. And contrary to what I thought I was going to learn, I didn't learn how to be a bad guy. I learned that you can still be confident, assertive, and dominant in a peaceful and respecting way. Now here's the thing: nice guys usually have really good integrity and values, which is a good starting point for being in a committed relationship. Things like honesty, loyalty, commitment, etc. But you can keep those good traits and change the way you show up in the relationship and how you influence the relationship dynamic. So if you have ever been in a relationship that left you confused as to why it didn't work and you think you have any of these nice guy qualities, read this book. It's going to clear up so much and you'll even learn how to be more assertive and confident in your life in general, which, of course, is a core tenet of a badass mindset. And if you think that you don't have the qualities of a nice guy, like I did, I still recommend reading it. You may find that you have room to improve on that front. This book is going to help tune up how you're showing up in your relationships. You know, we talk about finding a high quality woman when you're ready to start dating again. Well, guess what? What she is looking for is what this book will turn you into. And again, this isn't about you know becoming a douche or someone that you're not. You already have these masculine qualities inside. Dr. Glover just figured out how to help you discover them. Guys, all three of these books are absolute gold. Can't hurt me will change the way you see failure and perseverance. Extreme ownership will give you 2020 vision on what you can and can't control. And No More Mr. Night Sky will show you how badass men show up in their relationships and what high quality women are yearning for these days. And these are things that they aren't getting from 97% of guys that they meet. This is the time to expand your mind. Tuning up these areas of your life is only going to boost you forward in your badass journey. Crack these books open today, and you will not be disappointed. Once again, they were Can't Hurt Me by David Goggins, Extreme Ownership by Jocko Willink, and No More Mr. Nice Guy by Dr. Robert Glover. Leaving you guys with a quote from David Goggins. Quote You don't stop when you're tired. You stop when you're done. See you guys next week for three more badass books. Peace out. Thank you for joining me in another badass episode, brother.
