Megan is a trauma informed breathwork facilitator and is passionate about sharing breathwork with the world and also learning and growing every day in hopes of a better and more loving world! As a once single (for the first 6 years of her child's life) mom of a neurodivergent kiddo, she understands the plight of raising a child that struggles and is still forging her path and learning new ways to support her child, all while living striving for joy, balance and inspiration. Her hope is to help other moms earlier and in their child's life to find tools and practices that focus inward instead of using external forces to numb and relax - like scrolling for quick dopamine, comparing on social media, the nightly wine.

S is for Surrender — and it might be the most powerful letter in the GLIMPSE Method.
In this episode, Megan gets real about what surrender actually means (hint: it’s not giving up), shares a deeply personal story about releasing control as a parent, and talks about how breathwork can help you physically experience what it feels like to let go.
If you’ve been white-knuckling a situation in your life, this one’s for you.
In this episode:
•Why surrender is not weakness — and why our culture has it backwards
•A vulnerable story about parenting, sleepless nights, and finding peace by letting go
•How breathwork creates a physical experience of surrender through the exhale
•The tension your body is holding and what it might be costing you
•How faith, the GLIMPSE Method, and nervous system regulation all connect
•A peek into Megan’s morning Bible reading routine and the NLT app she’s loving
•How to join the Glimpse Collective on Skool for live breathwork sessions
Reflection prompts:
•Where are you white-knuckling right now?
•Where in your body are you holding tension?
•What would it feel like to loosen your grip — even just a little?

Okay guys, it's Megan with the Glimpse Method. Today we're talking about surrender. And um, I'm just gonna surrender this podcast because I have tried to record this surrender episode. It's my fourth attempt now. So the first one I got through the whole thing and I was super happy with it, and I posted it up to my buzz sproute and it was blank. You know why it was blank? Because I just went to the dog park and I was listening to my Beats headphones and they were still connected to my phone. So my beats are downstairs, so it heard none of my ramblings. Um, and then I just tried to start again and my dog was barking. So if he barks again, I'm just gonna keep going. Sorry guys, but I gotta get this out there to you because today I'm also um doing a live breathwork session, and my intention for everybody that um listens to it or you know goes through the the breath work session today or on the replay is surrender. We're gonna do some awesome breathing, we're gonna, you know, get out of our heads and into our bodies, and we are gonna let go of some shit. Okay, sorry about the swear. No, I gotta mark the explicit, but anyway, we are not starting over. So um I have gone through um most of Glimpse so far in the past five weeks. So um just a reminder: G is for grounding, L is for love and gratitude, I is for inspire, M is for manifest, P is for play, S is for surrender, and then our next episode will be on equanimity, and that's kind of the goal of the glimpse method is to be living in equanimity as most um as much as we can. Um, so that's the dream here. But um surrender is a super important part of this, it might be the hardest, um and it might reap the most benef benefits. Um so I want to tell a little story about my um about surrender with me. Um then I do want to mention that you know it's not just a one-time thing. Um with everything in the glimpse method, it's kind of like I don't want to say it's it's a lot of work because it it isn't maybe at first, but you're you're kind of walking through this whole glimpse method every day. So it's not so much um, you know, one and done. Um, it's kind of like the way it's a way of life. So um with surrendering, uh it's no different. You need you can't just surrender one time and um you know be done with it because we're all humans, we all have these minds that um number one, they they lie to us. Um, number two, you know, we're we're up against challenges every day. Um, you know, we all have things going on, we all hold on to things. Um, so surrendering is a beautiful thing, but it is something that um needs to be done often, and it is possibly one of the most beneficial things you can do for yourself in this life. Um, so a little story about a surrender um and and that I'm still working on as a parent. Um my daughter, um, I don't want to, you know, share too much. She's 18, but um, I don't think she would mind me sharing a little bit. But um basically her entire life we have had um we have had issues. Um she was diagnosed with ADHD, but we found out at age 14 that it was really autism. Now autism is um she's high functioning, um, but autism would definitely, probably um uh the an earlier diagnosis would have been much better. Um, so she's gone through quite a bit of um judgment, bullying, and not just judgment and bullying from kids, it's from parents, it's from other adults, it's from teachers, it's from administrators. It was a shit show. Oh, another swear. This is definitely an explicit episode, and I promise the S and Glimpf. Glimpse does not stand for shit, it's surrender. Um, anyway, so a little bit about that. So um, and as she's gotten older, the effects of what happened to her as a child and the way she was treated has um has affected how she is now, of course. Um and I not that she hasn't been diagnosed with PTSD, but she has it. Um she's got anxieties and and lots of things. Um, and of course, what I do and what my husband does, her dad, and what we've tried to do is always get her, you know, the help that she needs. And with that, you know, we can have grand ideas about, okay, this program and that program, and she's done programs and she's done residential and she's done, you know, uh uh different counseling and different things. Um, and you know, they may have not been right for her. Um, and she may have not been ready for them. So last year, probably around this time, I was really, really struggling because I I felt like I was trying to help her and she wasn't, you know, in my eyes, putting in the effort. Now, what does that mean? I mean, I can't really judge that because I'm not her um, you know, she was a 17-year-old. Anyway, that all that aside, uh, one night I was I was basically just run um probably having a bit of a panic attack, um, trying to sleep. I just couldn't sleep. Now there have been many sleepless nights. I know um if you're a parent too, you've probably had them as well. Um, but this one in particular was pretty intense. And so I went downstairs and I started looking up. Um I went downstairs because my husband was sleeping next to me because men can sleep. I swear to God, he falls asleep so quick all the time. Um, anyway, that's another issue. Um, so I started looking up Bible verses on my phone and just um ones that felt supportive to her, you know, that I would want her to um, I don't even know what I put in, but like struggling daughter, um, mental health, um control, like all of these um scriptures and Bible verses, and I was just, you know, looking them up, writing if they've resonated with me, I'd just write them down on a little piece of paper. I'd write them down. And um I and at this time too, I was not um, I hate, I don't really like to say the word religious, um, because I don't really know what that means. Um I hadn't started kind of my walk with God. Now I have grown up, you know, I grew up very involved in the church. I was baptized, I was confirmed, I did a lot of a lot of my social stuff, like in junior high, um, was with our church. But like the kids that went, I mean, it was just like kids from school, we would just go have fun. Like we went sailing and and we did um like hiking and you know, just like fun activities, fun camps. We did like habitat for humanity. I think that was in high school, but um, we did stuff and it and I was around you know that environment, but I just never really it just never really stuck, and I always just kind of felt like weird in church. I don't know why. Um, so um that's a little tangent anyway. So at this point, I had not um I feel like in the past month or two, I have really been drawn to walk with God, walk with the Holy Spirit, and I have been loving diving into that, and um, you know, I joined a program called Kingdom Fit Moms, um, and it's bringing God into your health journey, and just and I've been bringing God into my business, and um, so none of that was going on at this time, but I was writing out those those scriptures, and I read wrote maybe like 15, and then I um my daughter is saying hello downstairs, she's gonna come out, but I'm not stopping this episode because I have been trying to record this several times, so you may hear her come in anyway. I went down and I put the scriptures underneath her mattress. I didn't tell her or anything, but that was sort of me surrendering to God, like please take this off my heart, or you know, some of the weight anyway, and put it, you know, um, surrendering it basically to him and to help her um feel that or feel support, or in some way, you know, maybe they would support her being underneath her bed as she slept every night. Um, it's kind of funny. She did find them like a couple months ago and she was like, What is this? And she was sort of amused by it, but I almost think you know, maybe it touched her a little bit too. But that evening I was able to surrender that and um take it off my chest enough and off my heart enough for me to get sleep. So that is a pretty significant um story of surrender. Um in breath work sessions. I have been facilitated by some really great um leaders out there, and um one experience in particular I had was the facilitator was allowing me to let go of um any tension that I was holding. And uh she mentioned something like the tension and uh um the stress that you're holding might not even be your own. And I permission you to release that and let that go and just breathe through that. And I really had a breakthrough there and I I cried and um really released in that breath work session and it was kind of funny because I like uh I didn't even know her, you know. She I think she was um about to graduate, so she was and um it was just like a really beautiful moment. That's why I love breath work so much. It's like um as a facilitator I can uh uh just like hold loving space for somebody and that is just like part of who I've been my whole life. Like I just uh really love to support people and care about them and uh and uh you know I can be a breath work facilitator and a coach and it's not weird to do that, like in real life where it could be weird, like somebody would be like, Why are you being so nice or why do you care so much? Um so um that brings me to my live breathwork session today, and I apologize if I already like talked about this. You know, this is like my fourth time recording this episode. So I'm like getting lost in what I already talked about, but um so in my school community, that's S K O O L, and I will leave a link in the show notes here. I am facilitating my first um live breath work session in that community, the Glimpse Collective, and um we are gonna actually have the intention of surrender, so that's gonna be fun. Um, it's gonna feel really good. I got a really rockin' playlist going and um just a beautiful intention, and I'm ready to hold space for you all. Also, um it'll be available on replay, which you know I do breath work on replay sometimes, and sometimes I just lead myself through my own playlists, and it's just um you you know, there's no wrong way to do it, and it's just been such a gift in my life. Um, so I wanted to talk a little bit about that too, how the glimpse method is something that um I am putting together a course, it's gonna be an eight-week kind of cohort course on living the glimpse method, and I am super excited for it. It'll be eight weeks. Um, and like I said, the glimpse method is something you do, you know, just like in surrender. It's it's not like one and done, it's just like a kind of a way of life, and it it gives you these pillars to just um keep in mind and easy tools and ways um to practice these things in your daily life, and it actually opens up so much more um beauty in your life, and it brings you closer to your soul's purpose, which is, I mean, I still feel like I am finding mine, but it's just like a really exciting place to be is to um to be living, you know, every day with this. I have this excitement about life that I don't know that I I mean naturally I'm I'm a pretty positive person, but I don't think I've gone this deep ever before. And like I talked about last year when I put the you know scripture underneath her bed, um now in this year in the past month, I have been um really feeling this pull to um walk with the Holy Spirit, with God, to meet with God, to pray to God, to really um, you know, I've started reading the Bible every morning. Um, and I have like a little way that my uh Claude, my AI guy, helped me because I I've tried to read the Bible several times. I don't know about you guys, but it's like I've read Genesis like probably like 10 times, and I was like, I need a way to read the Bible, um, and not just, you know, cover to cover, because it that did not work for me. And then you get lost in like I can't remember if it's like Leviticus, where it's like all these numbers and measurements, and then there's like all the families, you know, it's just like a list of names. So um he actually suggested three different ways. The way I picked was to start with John, um, and then to read. So, like my first day I read John 1, and then I went to Psalm 1 and then Proverbs 1. So I read now, I think I'm in like 18. So eight John 18, Psalms 18, and Proverbs 18. I kind of suggest writing it down because I I maybe forget where I am sometimes. I probably should be further along, but sometimes, you know, it's fine to read them over. But so I do that in the morning, and um I also found a really great app that goes with my Bible. It's like an NLT app, um, New Living Translation Bible. Um, that's the Bible I use because I think it makes it a little more understandable, and the print is larger. And then with that Bible, that was only like 20 bucks, and it's a beautiful, like um, it's not leather, but it looks like leather bound and um it's pink. Anyway, uh, and then it there's an app that goes with it. So the app has like a morning prayer and then a gospel for the day, and then an evening prayer and then an evening gospel, and then it actually has like a um meditation, evening meditation, like they're all different, excuse me. So every night it's like eight to ten minutes, and I'm sure it's like an AI voice or whatever, but it um it does this beautiful meditation, so that's um kind of where I'm at. But with all of this and the glimpse method, you don't necessarily have to be in a walk with God or you know, um but just knowing that the universe is I believe is positive, is net positive. I believe that powers that be that are out there, in my case, God wants the best for us and wants the best for the best possible outcome for every for the highest possible good for everyone. So um that is kind of where I'm at with that. Um and um I'm trying to think what else I wanted to cover. So um I will put uh all the links in the the show notes if you want to join me in the school uh community. I'm only charging $27 to join it for life for my founding members. So eventually it will be a little bit more expensive. But um I'm also building that course that I talked about, the glimpse uh method course and how to live the glimpse method in your day-to-day, which I have um been living and it's transformed me, and I'm just happy to share it and um happy to connect with people. And um, yeah, so as far as surrender, I uh encourage you to think about where you are white knuckling in life, where there is a situation that you know has been stressful to you, where you've tried multiple things, where you feel like you can't um everything you do, it almost makes it worse. Um maybe you're a type A personality or a self-described, you know, credit troll freak. Um try to you know invite surrender into your daily practices and into these situations where you're not getting anywhere and where you're feeling the tension in your body and it may be morphing into, you know, it can in the worst case scenarios, you know, uh holding that tension can um, you know, it can turn into disease, actually, you know, um real health problems, um, but also just you know, affecting your mood and your energy throughout the day um and your flow. It can block you from from experiencing and you know living your best life. So I encourage you to look um into your life and and see where you're you're feeling tension. You can actually maybe sense. it in your body somewhere, you know, your your neck, your shoulders, your jaw. I hold a lot of tension in my jaw. And um yeah, and just breathe through it. Take some deep breaths and and see what it would feel like to surrender. You know, journal about it and see if there's just a small way you can surrender by like maybe just not making that comment that you want to make or you know breathing through a stressful time or you know allowing space for people in your life to you know work things out on their own and maybe not try to have all the answers. So it is lovely to talk to you today about surrender and I'm sorry if this didn't flow super well as um you know it was my fourth or fifth attempt but I'm glad I finally got it out there. I hope to see everybody in my school community and um yeah it is just an honor and a blessing to be able to chat with you and um I love you. Take care
