Hello, my friends. Welcome to the podcast. Today we are talking about three things that you can start today that will actually change your life. And I'm super excited about this. I was just gonna talk about affirmations because positive affirmations are huge and they're really powerful. And I've been reading uh studies on them, and um yeah, there's a lot of good information, and uh we'll get into that. But then I decided you know what, let's do three things that can really get their glimpse on, if you will. So now that I'm done discussing um the method and what each letter stands for, let's talk about putting some things into actual um into our actual life. So these three things, excuse me, are completely free. Um, they will genuinely shift um your mood, the quality of your life, and you could start them today. So I am going to encourage you. At the end, we'll have just kind of like a little challenge, but I'm gonna tell you kind of the bare minimum stuff, and then also there's gonna be some extra credit you could do to even just really, really set you apart and get you on your way to a better life. So um, there's no complicated systems or expensive programs, there's nothing you have to read. I read it all. No, just kidding. Um, so what I want to start um, so I'll just review uh the fur the three things. So the first thing is gratitude, second one is affirmations, and the third one is um getting outside in nature. So we're gonna start with um a 90-second glimpse of gratitude. So I am going to time 90 seconds, and I want you to grab a pen and paper, um, or you could grab your phone, and in the voice notes, you could just state. But we're gonna take 90 seconds, and we are going to look at your entire life. You could look at your picture like right now, or you could look from when you were a baby up to now and just start listing things um that you're grateful for. Like when I say start when you're a baby, like you could say, um, I'll just give you some examples. Like, I'm glad that I was born a healthy baby with the soul that I'm in. I'm glad that I had the parents I had. I'm grateful for, you know, being raised, you know, my parents being able to feed me, take care of me. Um I'm glad for, you know, the sun in the sky, the trees outside. I'm grateful for, you know, your family, your kids, your dog, your cat, you know, your animals. So just like list it. Just go crazy. Don't even think. You know, just kind of start listing it. We're gonna give you 90 seconds, starting right. Well, not quite yet. We're gonna start. Okay, right now. 90 seconds. Good. Keep going. All right, that was about ninety seconds. So, how did that go? How did that feel? Um, what I'm gonna challenge you to do um is every morning before you even get out of bed, I want you to think of three things that you are grateful for. So, um, what this does is it puts things in perspective and it shifts your mood because you are appreciating the things that you have. It also tells the universe that you are open to receive more because you are appreciative for the things that you have. So if you're not appreciating or have gratit if you don't have gratitude for the things in your life, um, the universe isn't gonna give you more. So um you can do that every morning before you even get out of bed. Just think, what am I grateful for? And then um extra credit is to do it at night too. So when you go to bed, um you can think of three things that happened during the day, you know, or like, oh, I'm grateful for my coffee, it was so delicious this morning, or I am grateful that you know my coworker, you know, helped me out with this one thing, or I'm grateful that my kid, you know, ate their dinner, you know, whatever. Um and that's the extra credit. So gratitude really um has become just natural for me now. I think um, well, I read the book The Magic. So if you want to get deeper into this, that is a really good book to read, and I I know I've talked about it before. Um so it really got me, it's a 30-day practice, and so you're building every day, you're doing like a new activity, and you're also doing I think it's like 10 things every single morning uh for that 30 days, like that's like baseline, and then you add something each time. Um, but it really got me thinking, you know, you're you're grateful for people, you're grateful for things, you're grateful for feelings, you're grateful for, you know, just it can be. I think one of mine was like the toaster. I'm grateful for the toaster or like the hose or my cold plunge, you know, just anything, nothing's too small, nothing's too big. And um, anyway, that book got me into the practice of doing it just like all day long, basically. Like I'll be just I mean, I appreciate my dog like all the time, but it also gets me to start telling, you know, my husband and my daughter, and you know that I appreciate them or that I'm you know thankful for them or pointing out things that I see that are positive, and that just makes everything better. So, um yeah, that's your challenge. Second one is positive affirmations. So um I know at first these feel kind of awkward, and um I want you to think of something that maybe you're struggling with, or you know, um, so I recent so personal story here. I had a meeting with my coach um two days ago, maybe, and we were just like working on working on my positioning, my brand positioning, and um something came up, and I I had told her like two or three different stories, and she astutely caught on that I look at life through this lens that I don't matter, and it started when I was younger as a child, um, and so my brain, and your brain always wants you to be right, so and this is not something that I like uh it's something I was aware of, but I just thought that it was true because my brain kept showing me instances where like um I would feel left out, or people would, you know, intentionally leave me out, or what I said didn't matter, or people wouldn't respond to me, or you know, there were things in my childhood where I had friends just kind of decide not to be friends with me anymore. I mean, all that stuff happens to people, but um I think it started at a young age um when I think it was like my brother, just he just never really um and it's not his fault, but he just never really paid attention to me, and I know that's like he was three years older. Um sometimes we would play, but um as we got older and stuff, and now it's it's fine. I mean we're in our 50s now, but I think that's where it began, and then I just kept playing it out in my head. So think of something. So like my affirmation may be like I might say, um, and it's like once you realize that this has been happening, it's almost like you just have to identify it now when your brain goes into that mode. So my affirmation may be something like I matter, I am, you know, like a child of God, or you know, whatever you believe. I um I have you know things to share, I make a difference in people's lives, you know, I matter, or even just like I matter just because I exist. Um, so that could be a positive affirmation, or if you're like having trouble at work with something, you know, just telling yourself that you are capable and you are you know you are special, you're smart, you're intelligent, whatever. Um, a little bit of extra credit for this one. So I would say it um you can do it um in the morning and then in the afternoon and then at night. That's kind of a lot. If you can't do it three times a day, just do it the one time a day. But another part that makes it even more powerful is if you go into like your voice memos and you actually record your voice saying it and then you play it back to you. That has been shown to be um quite powerful. Um, I looked up a study too on affirmations because I was trying to you know get some facts here for you guys, but um, one study, so it um talks about six ways that self uh that self-affirmations um are have been proven to be positive in your life. So self-affirmations have been shown to decrease health deteriorating stress. So if you're feeling stressed about something and it's affecting your health, if you start using affirmations, that can go away. Self-affirmations have been used to effectively um effectively in interventions that led people to increase their physical behavior. So um as far I think this is talking about exercising, and so like if you wanted to start exercising more, you would say like I am an athlete or I am, you know, I am my body is powerful, and um I love to walk or you know, run or whatever. Um, let's see, they have they may help us to perceive otherwise threatening messages with less resistance, including intervention. So this one, I think they talked about like if there's an alcoholic and he or she is being um you know, called out kind of by his family or his close, you know, people closest to him or her, if he's doing positive affirmations about him or herself, it makes the person less defensive when talking to somebody about, you know, like their problem or you know, if they've got something going on. Um, so it it kind of builds up your or their ability to handle um you know people coming to them with problems, you know, it just reduces defensiveness, which I think we could all work on reducing defensiveness. Um, they can make us less likely to dismiss harmful health messages responding instead with intention to change for the better. So um eating more fruits and vegetables, or you know, you could tell yourself if you're worried about your diet, you're eating all kinds of crap lately, just say, I love fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables help me, you know, to be healthy and um wealthy and wise, you know, come up with something like that. Um, they have been linked to posit positively to academic achievement. So students who have felt left out at college or there's a decline in their grades if they're talking to themselves, telling themselves they're intelligent, they're good at school, they can handle it, um, their grades actually have improved. And um it also self-affirmation has been demonstrated to lower stress and rumination. So the the constant, you know, thinking about something that really you can't do anything about, and um I know I do that, and uh so it can help you just kind of stop stressing about the same things. I say you have so many thoughts, like hundreds of thousands of thoughts during the day, and a lot of them are the same, so this helps reduce that the um ruminating about things. Um, so yeah, the extra credit is recruited as a voice memo, and um they say that the most powerful voice you'll ever hear is your own, and actually it's like the most comforting. I know some of us don't like to hear our voices, but and I have um an example of this too. So I've been I have a school community and I show up weekly to do live breathwork sessions, and I record them and then they're available for replays because if the if um the people in the community can't come live, then they can they can do it um at a later time, and I've been just doing those so I record them and then I go in and because when you're giving a breath work session, although it is nice and calming, and it's like a different kind of experience, it is nice to be led in breath work, and I was telling my coach that I was like it's kind of weird, but like I've been enjoying like being like leading myself, it's like my recorded voice and my songs, and it has been like really beneficial to me. And she reminded me that yeah, that's like a huge thing that I wouldn't have thought of. I thought I was just kind of a weirdo, but I was just like desperate to do breath work, and I was like, well, it's better to have sometimes I just do it to like a playlist, but since I had myself, you know, leading and we had like intentions, I was like, Oh, I'll do it. So um, and if you want to join my school, you should. It's a screaming deal right now. Um, it's only $27 for life. Um, that price will be going up once I get 27 people. I need about 20 more. I've got seven, but it is um really fun. I've I've just kind of started it because I wanted to do my breath work regularly, and this gets me every week I'm doing it. I'm gonna do a lot more with the community, but come on and join us. It's called the Glimpse Collective. Okay, number three, get outside for 10 minutes a day, and you know, more obviously, if you can, but um, in the morning, it's really good to like your circadian rhythm to get a little sun on your face, even if the sun is behind the clouds. Um, that is uh very beneficial. Get the fresh air, the vitamin D. Um, and so I would say try to do 10 minutes minimum every day and more if you can. And if you can walk during that time, that is even better. And um, what's even better is if you can like actually touch a tree or touch nature because that offers some grounding. Um, you know, we're all made of energy, the earth is made of energy, um, and things happen when you touch nature, and it you could get, you know, you could some people wake up and they do um barefoot in their grass. That's um a known grounding technique, too. So um I know when I take Spike, my doggy, for a walk. Usually I do that every day that I don't work. I work only three days a week um on my my healthcare job. But I number one, I just freaking love seeing him just usually we're we'll go to the dog park, which like has a track, so I walk around in woods and everything, and he'll like kind of hang back or go see some other dogs, and then he like comes running to find me, and he's just like flying, um, barely feet barely touching the ground. He's like so excited to run back to me, and so I love that. Um, and then or else we'll go on like a hike and he's free, so he kind of goes back and forth. It's really cute. Um, so I get my gratitude in being grateful for my dog and then being outside, and I'm almost always get ideas, um, things to do with this business or things to do with the family, or just like um, you know, I just get inspired when I'm walking and I'm out in nature, and who could not stand to be a little bit more inspired? So um that's it, guys. Three things that will change your life right now for the better. Just to recap the gratitude practice in the morning before you even you don't even have to open your eyes yet and just think of three things. Um affirmations. Think of a good one for yourself. You can do as many as you want, but and try recording it. Then you just have to like listen, you could listen to it in the car. Um, you know, listen to it just like right before you go to bed, and then getting out in nature and getting some sun on your face, possibly touching some sort of living um uh uh thing out in uh in nature and um I think you guys can do it. So pick one, pick all three, do the extra credit, do whatever feels right, and let me know how that goes. And if you can, please leave a review or a note, send me a note, and let me know how you're liking the podcast. Let me know if there's anything, any topics you want. I'm working on getting some guests here. got some exciting I'm gonna be on somebody's podcast um next week and then I think what I'm gonna do is just have it be part of ours because she offers kind of a cool service and she's gonna um she's an intuitive and so she's gonna do some stuff um not exactly sure what it is but it's gonna be cool so stay tuned for that and um yeah thank you so much for tuning in let's try these three things and really um improve our lives right now thank you for listening bye
