Megan is a trauma informed breathwork facilitator and is passionate about sharing breathwork with the world and also learning and growing every day in hopes of a better and more loving world! As a once single (for the first 6 years of her child's life) mom of a neurodivergent kiddo, she understands the plight of raising a child that struggles and is still forging her path and learning new ways to support her child, all while living striving for joy, balance and inspiration. Her hope is to help other moms earlier and in their child's life to find tools and practices that focus inward instead of using external forces to numb and relax - like scrolling for quick dopamine, comparing on social media, the nightly wine.
There is a better way!! Come join us!!! And you may want to do more than just GLIMPSE!!!

Ever watched a nature video where a predator lets its prey go, and the animal just… shakes? That’s not random. That’s the nervous system completing a cycle we humans almost never finish.
In this episode, Megan breaks down what she learned about animals like possums using the freeze response to survive — playing dead when they can’t escape — and the full-body shake that follows once the threat passes. That shaking releases the trauma and resets their nervous system before they move on with their day.
Then she brings it home: we go through fight, flight, or freeze too, but instead of completing the cycle, we go straight back to work, to our kids, to our inbox. The trauma doesn’t have anywhere to go — it gets stored in the fascia. Megan shares from a recent live breathwork and somatic session in The GLIMPSE Collective, talks about how childhood trauma we don’t even consciously remember still shapes our adult responses, and connects it all to Soul Sparks — the Kabbalah-rooted practice of noticing when the same painful pattern keeps looping in your life, and choosing to look inward instead of blaming the person or situation in front of you.
She also gets personal, tracing her own recurring “I don’t matter” pattern back to being ignored by her older brother — and models exactly what it looks like to do this work in real time.
•The animal freeze response and why the shake matters
•How trauma gets stored in the fascia
•Bottom-up therapy vs. top-down (working the body, not just the mind)
•Childhood trauma we don’t consciously remember
•Soul Sparks: the next 3 weeks are a powerful window for this
•Megan’s personal “I don’t matter” pattern and where it started
•Practices: shaking, pillow work, rage rooms, somatic work, breathwork
•The caution: processing vs. getting stuck in the loop
•Tying it back to Equanimity — the E in the GLIMPSE Method

Hello and welcome to the Glimpse Method Podcast. I'm Megan. Thanks for joining. Today we're going to talk about healing. So I uh learned something recently, or maybe I just put it all together. Um animals such as possums and animals in the wild, when they are being pursued by a predator, their nervous system takes over. And if they're not able to get away, they basically just shut down and play dead in hopes that the predator will get bored and leave them alone. And after the threat is done, they don't get right up. Their body actually goes through a process of um and that looks like shaking. And so their whole body is shaking, and what that does is it releases the trauma and regulates their nervous system, and then they get up and move on with their day. And wow, that really stuck with me. Um this practitioner was also talking about how, you know, when we have trauma, it's like fight, flight, or freeze, but then after the trauma, we just go back to our busy lives, we go back to uh, you know, our jobs, we we may talk about it, but we don't actually do anything that processes um the real trauma that in turn gets stored in our fascia. So it doesn't have anywhere to go. It's a really like animalistic kind of primal thing that needs to be done. And I think that's why um practices like somatic work and breath work are becoming more popular because you know you can talk your way around it with cognitive therapy, but you're basically just going it through the loop. So um I think as kids we probably had trauma. Um some, you know, and some people don't even remember, but that trauma is going to come out some way because it is stored in your body. So uh yesterday I in in my Glimpse Collective I did a live breathwork session on healing, and we did some somatic work beforehand, and then we uh did some breath work through um the premise of healing, and I was holding space for people and just talking them through the breath work, and the idea is to get out of your head and into your body to process that out. Um there um something with me um oh, and also I wanted to share on my uh glimpse guide on Sunday I talked about uh the next three weeks are really good weeks to look at your soul sparks. And so in Kabbalah they talk about your soul's spark as being a little glimmer of something that pops up and causes a response from you. So, and it's usually around kind of negative things. So if a situation happens and um you kind of attack the person or the situation, or you know, the external part of the situation without looking at why you are being triggered, um it just continues to loop over and over again. And I have something in my life that I've uncovered uh recently. I mean, I always kind of knew about it, um, but I thought it more affected me in my relationships with men, like my romantic relationships, um, and it definitely did. Um, I think more so in my 20s and stuff, it uh started to show up as like jealousy, and I would act out against, you know, partners or or what have you. Um but then now I see it coming up in my life about um when I was younger, my brother was three years older, and I think he um well I perceive that he basically just ignored me and like ignored my existence basically, starting probably um maybe when he hit like junior high, and so um that has really stuck with me, and I see situations as I look back. I just um last month or a couple months ago, I had a meeting with a coach, and these situations in my life have been coming up where I am basically making the situation about me not mattering, so it could be friends, you know, not including me, things at work, um, but it's just this common theme, like I don't matter, and it's like a really hurtful loop that I've been in, and so I've been trying to work through that, like of course I matter, everybody matters, and um there are some real like actual things you can do to work through this type of thing, um and um speaking of soul spark, so the next three weeks it's a really good time to when something happens to look inward instead of to the external and be like, okay, does this keep happening in different you know, themes in my life? Like the same theme, but like different situations. Does this keep happening? And how am I dealing with it? Am I am I actually looking inside and seeing, you know, is there some place that I could grow? Could I turn my spark into a flame and actually grow through the situation and maybe stop these these same like looping things to happen? And um practices like um actually, even during breath work, we shake sometimes. We shake our hands, our feet. Um you can do pillow work, which it's like screaming to a pillow, beating a pillow. Um, but this practitioner said, you know, just have these little kind of like rage sessions where you maybe are just like laying on your bed and and you just kind of let yourself work things out. You know, something that's become popular are these rage rooms where you go and like smash stuff and like get your anger out. And actually that is I've I've kind of like been like, oh, that does not sound fun to me. Like it sounds, you know, it's like really primal and animalistic, and and it actually probably would be very helpful. Now, to me, like laying on my bed and like beating my fists and screaming into a pillow, and sometimes they say you can even just like raise your leg up and let it fall down and hit the bed, just do that over and over. Um, you know, that sounds more like something that would um would be more appealing to me, but you can do this in all different ways, you know, punching bags and and things like that. Um, somatic work is really big, you know, like tapping and massages and uh working through, you know, releasing that trauma or loosening it up out of your fascia because they say the trauma is just stored in your body. And so when we get in the loop in our head, um it's not really helpful because we just keep going over and over again. So if you actually try to take your mind and your head out of the process and use your body, it can be quite healing and quite helpful. So um, another thing to keep in mind when you're doing this is to not be in the loop of the rage. And you know, some people maybe are are in that loop in their life, like if they have like some anger issues and stuff, and anger keeps exploding out of them, and they just don't know why, it could be that they need to do some of this somatic work to help release uh release uh the trauma that they've gone through, and that's why I've really been loving doing breath work, and I think it's becoming more popular. Um, although a lot of people I talk about, I tell them I'm a breath work facility facilitator, and like, what's that? Um, but it can be a very powerful and healing practice, and so I um invite you to my again, to my community, the Glimpse Collective. It's on I'm on school, and I'll leave a link below. But I do live breathwork sessions pretty much every week. Maybe it's like every week and a half. Things have been a little bit crazy in our household. But um, yeah, so after you're working through trauma and stuff, and and then at some point you you just have to surrender when that feels right, and that's part of the that's the S of the Glimpse method, and just you know, if you believe in God um or the universe or a higher power, it's a just a really beautiful practice to to let that fall at your creator's feet and you know, release it and say, I you know, I obvious I cannot handle this anymore, and I need you to help me. And that can be quite healing too. And all of this work that we do in the Glimps Collective and with breath work and somatic work, um, and tapping and all all kinds of different um they call it bottom-up therapy. So you're you're working with the body, not the mind, because uh as we all know, the mind can be kind of tricky and um it can get us caught in loops and it can actually even though it's trying to protect you, it's it's holding you back. And so I um encourage you to maybe look more into this or join us in the Glimps Collective or send me an email and I can um, you know, listen and and maybe help you find a good um practice for you. So um thank you for listening today. And oh, I can't I can't remember if I said this, but um so the E of my Glimp of my Glimps method that I that I created is equanimity, and so I've talked about that before, but equanimity is basically having a sort of I don't want to just say inner peace, it's more like um you know, your body wants homeostasis, um, a balance, and so it is basically the internal balance that you have and you present yourself with every day. So when chaotic situations happen or you're in a situation that you can't control or something sad, you're able to be okay. You don't have to be happy all the time, you don't have to be, you know, singing and laughing, and it's not like um toxic positivity or or anything like that, it's just a more balanced and calm way to live. And so I think we all probably strive for that, and um this somatic and breathwork healing can really help you to get there. So thanks for listening today. Check out the show notes for links, and um, I hope you have a great day. Try laying in your bed and and doing some somatic work, see how you feel afterwards. Thanks. Have a wonderful day and take care.
