Have you ever wondered, “What is my purpose?” You’re not alone. Many of us spend years searching for the answer, believing our purpose is something we have to achieve or discover. But what if your soul already knows? What if your purpose has been there all along, waiting for you to quiet the noise and listen?
In this episode, we’re exploring how to reconnect with your authentic self by creating space for stillness, letting go of expectations, and tuning into the voice of your soul. We’ll talk about reconnecting with God, the Divine, or whatever higher power speaks to your heart, reflecting on what truly brings you joy, and uncovering the clues that have been with you since childhood.
We’ll also discuss how simple daily practices—like walking in nature, journaling, prayer, meditation, and intentional reflection—can help you hear your inner wisdom more clearly. I’ll share why I created the Homegirl Walk Challenge and how guided walks can become a powerful tool for reconnecting with yourself and uncovering the life you’re meant to live.
In This Episode:
- Why your soul’s purpose isn’t something you find—it’s something you remember.
- The importance of quieting the outside world.
- Connecting with God, the Universe, or your higher power for guidance.
- Letting go of expectations from family, society, and yourself.
- Taking an honest look at how you spend your time and energy.
- Revisiting your childhood passions for clues to your purpose.
- Using joy as your internal compass.
- Why your purpose unfolds one aligned step at a time.
- How the Homegirl Walk Challenge can help you reconnect with your soul.
Reflection Questions:
- If no one else’s opinion mattered, how would I spend my life?
- What has been quietly calling me that I’ve been ignoring?
- What activities make me lose track of time?
- What did I love doing as a child?
- What is one small, aligned step I can take today?
Remember, your soul isn’t asking you to become someone new. It’s inviting you to remember who you’ve always been.
If this episode spoke to your heart, I’d love for you to share it with a friend, leave a review, and join me for the Homegirl Walk Challenge as we continue walking our way back to ourselves.
Enhance the Human Experience!
Hello, how are you? It's Megan with the Glimpse Method Podcast. Excuse me, I just had a little chocolate ball. So today we are talking about our soul's purpose. And you know, you might be saying, How do I find my soul's purpose? Um, it's not exactly about finding it because it is there. Um, it is about uncovering it. So we often think that it's like one perfect career, one perfect relationship, or whatever your calling is, but your soul already knows, and the challenge isn't discovering it, it's hearing the noise beneath um the everyday chatter. So the soul whispers, the world kind of shouts. So, um, you know, we all know this. We live in a world of constant distraction with our phones and you know, having to answer texts like right away. It's like everything, everybody's like so impatient, and um we're hearing everybody's opinions, and we're we're hearing a lot of hate. We all are also hearing a lot of love. Um, but all of that happening, we can't really hear what our soul, what our inner wisdom is. So the number one key uh key to this is you know, practicing silence, which can be really uncomfortable, especially for us North Americans. But um some practical ideas for you to start to hear the whispers of your soul. Um, one thing that I do is I have a morning practice. Um I like to do a cold plunge in the morning. Nobody you don't have to do a cold plunge, but that really grounds me. So I do a cold plunge when I'm home. I'm in Arizona right now, so um I haven't done it in a couple weeks, and I am heading back home in a few days, and I'm so excited to get going with that again. But just having some silence in the morning. Um, some people have a meeting with God or the universe. Um, you know, there may be some questions on your mind, you can think those questions, but really it's about the listening. Um, another really good way is to when you're on the move, when you're walking or hiking, or you know, don't take a podcast with you or music. Um try to walk in silence every once in a while. Um or you could try my home girl walk challenge, which is kicking off on August 3rd, and um there is music in that, it's light, it's a little bit quieter, and I do guide you through the Glimpse Method Um pillars, but that that can be a good tool. Um, meditation and breath work. I'm a big proponent of breath work, it gets you into your body, and you can have some real breakthroughs during that. Um journaling is another really good way, just writing. I mean, I know when I journal, um I haven't in a while, and it is hard for me to get to the point. So you can actually have some journal prompts. Um I'll give you some, like, you know, what you could even just say, what is my soul's purpose, or what do I enjoy doing, or um, you know, what makes me feel good, what makes me feel not so good. Um, and prayer is another way. Um because getting silent is important and there's constant noise, and we're constantly checking our phones, and uh I'm guilty of this too. So even just checking in your phone at night, um, my husband and I have been talking about doing this, we haven't done it yet, but you know, when we get home, just put it away. Um another way uh to uncover your soul's purpose is to connect with something greater than yourself. So um I call it God. Um I am a believer. Um, there's source, uh, the universe, your higher self, the divine, but um it's really getting you out of your ego that's important, and uh that connection that you make with a higher power can really be powerful. Um you can talk to this uh entity. Kind of sounds funny to call it an entity, but um I'll just say God. So when I have when I pray or have conversations with God, I try, I'm trying to do it more and more throughout my day because I've been really feeling this pull that I want to be closer to my creator and I want to you know uncover my soul's purpose, which you know, I don't know that it's ever like super clear. Um, you're always learning and things are always changing, so it's important to kind of um keep these practices going. Um, you can, you know, trust the guidance that you that you feel um maybe an idea or something pops in your head and you feel enthusiastic about it, or it you know makes you a little nervous. Um you can ask for signs. Um one thing we talk about in the Glimpse method towards the end is surrender. So you can have all of these things and desires and wants, and um but at the end of the day, it's not up to you how these things come to fruition. So laying it down and surrendering the control over every little thing can be very powerful. Um and then listening instead of forcing things to happen. So um, you know, it's it's about being quiet, it's about being it's about listening. You can ask, you know, please like show me what I need to see or what am I supposed to see. Um, you know, keep your mind open and really ask, ask to be shown instead of you know figuring out every way that it's gonna happen. You gotta let go of the how. Um so another tricky part is separating your voice, your soul's, you know, whispers from everyone else's. So um you can ask yourself, like, is this dream really mine? Is this like career really what I wanted to be doing? Or was it handed to me, or was it expected of me, or was it, oh, you're so um gifted at this, you should do this. Um, did you just take that and run with it and then stop listening to your soul's whispers? Uh, are you afraid to disappoint somebody? Um are you living to make somebody else proud, like your parents proud, or you know, your husband or your kids, um, or society, your friends, or like success culture. Um, and then social media plays into this too, like you know, the comparisons, um, and you know, really think about what really matters to you, not what everybody else is doing or what um is expected of you. You know, it's it's time to break free of that, and it can take some practice, but it can be done. And an important point to know is sometimes purpose can be found by taking things away. So not it's not always adding new things. So you really need to look at your life and what I do believe joy is is very important, and it doesn't have to be earned. So look at what things actually bring you joy, or what things you're doing just because you feel like you should do them, or you have to do them, or you know, it should make you feel good, but it doesn't, or you know, people are impressed by this, you know, it it doesn't matter what other people are thinking, it's none of your business. Um, and you really need to listen to yourself, and so in that same vein, uh maybe you could just take an audit of your current life, um, because there will be clues there. So look honestly at you know, how do you wake up each morning? How do you spend your mornings? How do you spend your days, your evenings, how do you spend your weekends? Um, do you feel energized, or does your energy taken away by a lot of these things that you're doing or have to do? Um what feels like it lights you up? What gets you excited, enthusiastic? Um on the opposite end, what drains you? Are there certain people that are draining you? Are there certain situations or communities or um maybe social media, maybe the news? Um, you know, what drains you of energy and joy? Because maybe you need to, you know, break ties with that. Um and if you're having trouble asking these like really direct questions, maybe you can try to um make this an ongoing audit. So notice when you're complaining, or maybe you know right away, like what do I always complain about? And um think about think about that. Um you know, why am I complaining? Is it draining me? Um then you can also think about what do I lose track of time doing? Like what do I get lost in? Um what kind of conversations or what type of people like really excite you? Like, who do you like to be around and and what is it that you like about them or about their energy? And is that something you want to feel? That's something you want to exude. So um that's a good way. And then also um, I've been doing this recently, so revisiting childhood um before you know the world like told you who you needed to be, or you know, who were you as a child. I know I've talked about before, I think I did. I love to go on adventures and like be independent and make believe and um just like ideas and and I would do a lot of like visualization, just um, you know, even when I was a young kid, I would just like be in the land of Maple Eve happy by myself, pretending I'm caring for all these little kids, or you know, planning planning activities and and kind of acting them out. Um, I had so much uh fun. I would get lost doing that, and it would boost my mood. Um, so what did you love to do as a child? What games did you play? What did you naturally create and what fan like what fantasized you not fantasized you, sorry, what fascinated you? Um and what made you feel most alive? I also loved swimming and just like being in the pool. Um so you know, who you were as a kid before, you know, you were told to calm down, don't you know, just go with the flow, or you need to behave, or you know, whatever. What did you love to do? And then um another one is pay attention to joy. So um sometimes like it takes a minute to really like deduce why you feel joy doing something, but sometimes if you just keep asking why, why, why, like four, I feel like four levels of why is a really good place to start. So um, and it this thing that might that brings you joy might make you emotional too. So, what do you feel gives you energy? I know when I was a single mom, I think my daughter was four, um, a girlfriend and I went to New York City, and I mean we didn't get sleep, but we when I came back, I felt so energized. I was energized by that city, like, and I always feel that way when I go there. I feel um like it gives me energy, it does not take it out of me. I don't know if it's just like the the tons of people and the you know, it's just kind of like culture and it's just rich, and um you know, people are always moving. I kind of like the buzziness of a big city. I also like the country, but um that really gave me energy. Um what makes you smile for no reason? Um, there's obviously a reason behind it, but like what when somebody says that they did something or they tell you about an experience, or you know, like and it and you can relate it back to a feeling you had. Um you can also think about your friends, your family, your co-workers, like what do they come to you with? Um what do people say you're good at? You can even ask people when I was starting my business. I asked like my mom, my husband, and two really good friends just to you know, like tell me what when they think of me, you know, what are they what do they think my gifts are, or what what do they think about me? Um and that was really helpful to see. Um so joy can be like your little temperature gauge and tell you, you know, oh, this is really makes me joyful, or not so much, and then also just uh stop looking for just one big answer, like like the sky opens up and the sun shines down, and you hear uh like your purpose isn't always gonna be just like one destination, like I said before, it can kind of morph and change a little as you know you age and as your experience as you gain experience and as you see needs in the world, or um so you know, try not to try to be open-minded, I guess. Um, and know that it often happens by like nudges, so little nudges just to take one step, you know, one small step. Um I think the nudges are quiet, and then maybe um sometimes something big can happen, like to push you in that direction, like if they get tired of um you know, if the universe or whatever is like, okay, she is really not getting this, so we're gonna just have to make this happen. So um, and even just day-to-day, you can ask yourself, like, what feels aligned for me today? Like, what would be the best use of my time and energy? What would feel good? Um, that's a good gauge to go by. So when you're talking about purpose, you really have to take action. Um, not it's not just all listening. So um, you know, if you get a small nudge and you want, you know, try something. If it doesn't work out, that's information. It's not like you're doing anything wrong. I feel like you are always exactly where you need to be when you need to be there. So, um, and then kind of getting back to the you know, quiet, quieting down. Um, it's really important to find space every single day. So um you can just do like the morning practice, or you can just do a few minutes of silence. Um practicing gratitude is a huge great way to notice the things that you already have and be thankful for them. And um prayer, as I mentioned before, journaling, you know, getting out in nature, meditation, breath work, which is my specialty. You should join my community, the glimpse space. Um, and just ask yourself, let yourself um, as I talked about before, like what maybe after the day, like you can kind of audit your day. So you audit your life, and then you can maybe just audit your day. Like what felt really good today, what felt aligned today, what what didn't feel good, what didn't feel aligned, and um, you know, and just listen. And this is, you know, with everything, consistency is the key here. So try to um never give up on uncovering your soul's purpose. Um, I truly believe that your soul already knows why you're here, why I'm here. Um, you don't have to become somebody new. You are great just the way you are. You are meant to be who you are. Um so quieting. Um, I'll just review um the eight kind of practical steps that you can take. So the first one was getting quiet. The second one was connecting with something greater than yourself. Third is separating your voice from everyone else's. That's people in your life, people on social media, people out on the street, it's it's everybody in your family. Um, audit your current life. Revisit your childhood, what brought you joy, what didn't. And right now, pay attention to what brings you joy, what makes you emotional. Um, and stop looking for one like big aha moment or one big answer. I'm not saying that won't happen because you know you can have moments like that, and they are beautiful and amazing, and I am sure that you will listen if that happens. And then creating space every day for you know your soul to that, your soul's whispers to kind of come come um into focus. So that is all I have today, and I hope that you guys have a great day, and that we all start moving closer to uncovering our soul's purpose. Take care.
