Cliff Thompson

Cliff  began his career in the oil and gas industry with a petroleum inspection company after college. He chaired committees for the American Petroleum Institute (API), authored the first Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) document for the petroleum/petrochemical profession, and co-authored PROM, a program used to reconcile petroleum transfers between buyers. He later served as IT Manager for the Americas, overseeing operations across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.


In 1999, Cliff joined NASA at Johnson Space Center in Houston as Firewall Engineer, overseeing IT security access for JSC, White Sands Test Facility, and Ellington Field. He received the Space Flight Awareness Honoree award and two commendations from the Vice President before retiring in December 2025.


Cliff and his wife of 49 years, Edwina, have one son, Trey, three granddaughters, and he serves as a shepherd at the Watters Road Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas.
