What Permission Really Means
SPEAKER_00Permission. The act of permitting or formal consent. As an entrepreneur and business owner, when you look for permission, you delegate your decision making to someone else. And part of your role as a leader is making these decisions. So you want to be cautious of permission in the way that you operate.
Sales: Seek Alignment Not Approval
SPEAKER_00Now, permission looks differently in different functions of your business. In sales, permission can look like waiting on permission from a client to move forward with a proposal. But it's not your role as a salesperson to wait for them to tell you that they are perfectly ready for the solution that you provide. Your role is to position your services as aligned to what they need. Your role is to seek alignment and not permission, because alignment will showcase you in a position that shows the client that you are selling a solution to their needs rather than pushing your narrative regardless of what that potential client needs.
Operations: Lead The Decision
SPEAKER_00When it comes to operations, you can know in your gut that you have a solution that will improve the operations within your company. But if you wait for permission from your staff to implement it, you may never get it because your staff or your team or contractors that you work with are not looking to you for you to look to them so y'all can stare at each other and wait for something to happen. I mean, the role you have is to make that decision. And if you're waiting on permission from a specific person, you may not get to the optimal point of operation that you have. There's several examples of ways in which you're waiting on permission within the company, within salespeople, within stakeholders that you work
How Permission Stalls Progress

And you want to ensure that you don't confuse permission for alignment, because alignment is something you're looking for and you seek out because it helps you sell, it helps you operate. But permission shifts the power, shifts the decision away from you and can stall you because you're waiting on permission. And it's a it's a dangerous word when you don't reflect on it in your
