Emanate Love: Solution-focused mindset training. Sustainable solutions that provide lasting results through the power of our stories.
Good afternoon, Sunshine, and welcome back to the Eminate Love Podcast. Today I am so excited because my guest is someone who genuinely helped me heal. Annette is her name. And she is a lymphatic massage therapist whose work goes way beyond what most people picture when they think of massage. And I'll let her explain the amazing and vast processes that she uses. And being a professional runner myself in college and running on scholarship, I understand and appreciate the limits that you push your body to and your muscles, and that you need to to get high performance and high performance training. And when I met Annette, it just clicked. I was carrying more than just physical tension. And over the course of our sessions, although I felt immediate release in our first session, she helped my body reset in a way that I didn't expect. I didn't know that was possible. She has a rare combination of skill and intuition. And she knows the anatomy, the cold. But she's also a listener to what a body is telling her. And I'm thrilled to have her here to talk about what lymphatic health actually means, why it matters, and how this work can support recovery from all of us. Annette, welcome to the show. And please share with us your mission. Thank you, Emily.
SPEAKER_00I'm so happy to be here. And good afternoon to all of your guests. My mission with massage therapy in general, right? I work with lymphatic, but I also do the other modalities, Swedish massage, deep tissue, stretching, all of that. My mission is to create experiences that unlock healing from within. And I do believe that the lymphatic system is one of the basic, most essential systems we have in our bodies.
SPEAKER_01Thank you, Annette. You're right. The lymphatic system. Now, why massage therapy? And how did you get into it?
SPEAKER_00Well, I've been practicing for over 22 years. I was blessed with a wonderful near and dear relative who also had a very long career with massage therapy. And she did help me find my path. And it was at a time when she watched me for years. All of my adolescence, I struggled with an eating disorder and poor body self-image. And it was really massage therapy that helped me back out of it. And since then, you know, I worked in other fields prior. And ever since I started massaging, it just for me also just clicked, and I knew that this is what my purpose is. So uh yeah, I get to love what I do and not call it work.
SPEAKER_01That's amazing, Annette. And in your 22 years, you've you've you said it to me straight. You've helped roughly how many people, Annette.
SPEAKER_00Well, I I massage about 1100, 1200 people a year. So you do the math, but it's it's quite a lot of bodies. And I do believe that most all massages are all different. And as a massage therapist, when you do listen, when you really listen and you you get to observe people and their healing journeys and how it unlocks for them. I get to take part of this transfer of energy, really, through touch and transformation. And so really, I've learned so much from my my clients. No, I know they no one massage is the same.
SPEAKER_01I love how you help people feel, and I experienced that with you, and I've continued to experience that with you, and with the 22,000 other people who have been blessed to have your amazing experience massage. Why did you choose lymphatic massage or why lymphatic massage?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, great question. And I do feel that majority of people out there don't know this essential drainage network that we all have right underneath our skin. And we just don't know that we also have internal pipes, like a piped network, which drains all the waste and all of the fluid circulating in our body. And this lymphatic system with aging and with inflammation, with any trauma, like I always say to you, our issues lie in our tissue. Over time, it it becomes blockages. Our lymph can't move, and therefore it can't clear out waste. So we feel heavy and the swollen areas. Maybe you feel it by your ankles or your knees, maybe you've had fatigue. These are all ways that the body is showing you where it's blocked and where it needs a little assistance. And that's where lymphatic massage and the drainage techniques. I would highly recommend people try a professional lymphatic massage. A couple of those will help activate and hopefully optimize it to the point where then after that they continue a regimen daily, whether it be dry brushing, rebounding, light jogging, you know, exercise all moves lymph as well. But, you know, it's fighting against gravity, right? So if you have a standing job and you are about mid-life, you're gonna have the puffy ankles and you're gonna have the throbbing feet at the end of the day. So no exercise is gonna help you with that. And that's when the compression hose is comes in, and that's when legs up the wall, and you know, you have to elevate, and it gets right back into that process all over again the next day. So you really have to work hard at it, you really have to understand that you can do some things at home, but professional lymphatic massage is something that I recommend for most people to have maybe a couple times a year.
SPEAKER_01Definitely. And you're right, Annette, the issues lie in the tissues. And I love that phrase you always use. And when you're what I'm hearing you say is that the swelling and the cellulite is all blocked lymph, and that is the areas that need extra attention. That yes, you can do light jogging and breath work, which will stimulate your lymph, but sometimes it you need extra help and extra support, and that's where your lymphatic massage is a game changer and can really I've seen the pictures on your website. I I know that you know you've taken people's feet from a size double wide and like triple wide to half that width. Like I've seen the results, I've experienced it myself, and I don't endorse this lightly. I endorse it wholeheartedly with full knowledge of exactly the benefit that it can have for somebody. And and how, Annette, is it different from Swedish or deep tissue?
SPEAKER_00Hmm. That's a that's a good one. I think a lot of people relate massage to being either relaxing or therapeutic. So, yeah, Swedish and deep tissue massages are definitely more for circulation and for the athletes, but so is lymphatic. So lymphatic isn't about working muscles like a deep tissue massage, it's actually about flow of lymph and the circulation within this interstystical fluids, the the waist is what we we generally say that is, but it also helps the nervous system because the nervous system is the vagus nerve and all of the the systems that it works with, the lymphatic system, they're all connected. So when you're freeing the lymph, everything is gonna be so much more fluid.
SPEAKER_01Yes, and that's what I felt from you, Annette. The first that I got from you, I felt my interstitial fluid literally jump through my brain. Yeah, you can feel it. My body, and I had never fully had your cranial sacral massage is the best I've ever had. And I've had a lot of massages, and I really believe that if you have the right the person on the job, which is you, you can create the right symphony, for lack of a best better word, to create the flow and the freedom that people really crave. Because I craved freedom at the time that I met you. I craved, sorry to back jump back to my story when I'm trying to pump you up, but I really craved freedom when I met you. I didn't have the freedom that I have today. And if I could ever endorse someone that I really believe in, that would be you. Because it's a simple thing that required absolutely nothing on my part. I just had to lay there. And it was great because I got this cranial sacral massage that transformed the fluid in my brain and moved it through my body in a way that helped me to regrow all of the nervous stuff that was affected in in my life at that time. And then I know that there's some people out there who might be saying, you know what, like I just have this cellulite and there's nothing I can do about it. I have these swollen, this swollen ankle that's always swollen, and there's nothing I can do about it. I have this, you know, I got in this, you know, accident, or I have, I have this brain injury, or I have something and I can't change anything. Those are the those are the people that you're here for, Annette. You're here for anybody who wants change in their life because that's what you give people. Now, what what exactly what exactly would you define lymphatic massage as? Or how would you exactly describe that? You were kind of getting into it a little bit before I interrupted.
SPEAKER_00Well, I think what you're what you're um you're asking is why it doesn't matter. And it really comes down to this when your lymph is moving, you're gonna feel it right away. You're gonna feel lighter, you're gonna feel clearer, and you're gonna feel so much more relaxed. And when you feel that, your body just works better. And I don't care if you are midlife, if you're elderly, or if you're young and you're a vibrant athlete, you're gonna feel it. And it's gonna help you because you'll have a better flow of not only lymph, but blood flow, the circulation, your heart pumping and in your energy. You know, we we get blockages within our energy of within, too. So yeah, I think I've also helped many of my clients not only through touch, but I've helped them understand that there are many things you can do in helping your lymphatic system clear out the waste daily by not only the exercises and the breath work, but the food, the foods we eat. There's there's definitely spices and foods that you can eat that your lymph will definitely flow better.
SPEAKER_01Oh, I love that. I love it how you take it inside and outside. You it's a lifestyle. It's a lifestyle, and Annette knows how to navigate it. She's always got a tip or a trick, and she's always adding my bag of tricks. Or she's adding more knowledge and information to my life. So, why is it important, Annette? Why is lymphatic important?
SPEAKER_00I I do believe that when you do feel this lighter and clearer and more connected self, you're essentially creating a flow within that creates freedom. And the freedom, it's of your mind, you know, we all have our the noise. We we we just feel more free. And, you know, you unlock, like I said, the issues in your tissue. I mean, your brain is constantly signaling uh, you know, your self-talk, it it goes into your brain and then it goes and gets distributed out into your body, and we don't even realize how connected it is, but it but it truly is.
SPEAKER_01So the lymphatic affects everything. It it affects the blood flow, it affects the muscles, it affects everything, even though it's not in it. It's separate, right?
SPEAKER_00Yeah, no, it's it's separate. I mean, we have fluid systems within our body, so we have our blood fluid and we have our lymph fluid, the interstitial fluid, that carries out not only broken blood vessels and cellular waste and the toxins, you know, even our we have our lymphatic system, which is our brain lymphatic drainage that occurs every night. And I don't think people are aware that you know how fascinating our bodies are, that it's constantly working for us. And you know, why we do so much self-harm every day where we're overworking and we're stressed out and we talk negative to ourselves and we don't eat well, and we stop moving, and we we we just become stuck, and so our bodies are fascinating to just just that realization that this wonderful network that we all are gifted with, you know, and throughout our lives, you know, that it's constantly working for us. So I just help create that freedom of flow.
SPEAKER_01Yes, you do. You help help the flow begin with your flow, and you help activate everyone's flow around you by surrounding people with goodness, right? And how many sessions would it take for you to get someone like just an average person into better flow? Like somebody who had some skin for somebody who just needed some help getting going. I mean, is this gonna take like six months? Like, do you need six months with everyone? Or what how can we conceptualize this a little bit?
SPEAKER_00No, I mean, I think what you're what we have been discussing, our collaboration with my practice in Flow Wellness Collective and yours, Eminate Love, it really's a a flow series that I've created just so people can understand and and have an introductory experience. And I think it's more than enough. I'm offering a summer flow series of three 90-minute lymphatic massages for 90 for sorry for $100 each. So wow.
SPEAKER_01That's I know my jaws just dropped, my jaw just dropped to the floor because three sessions with you normally costs over $500. Like $510.
SPEAKER_00Yeah, cheap.
SPEAKER_01I mean, that would be that's expensive stuff for the average Joe. I mean, we're not talking this is a Mercedes of a massage, I think, right?
SPEAKER_00Well, I would hope, I would hope that everybody would be um, you know, as as as open to it as you. And, you know, you've had uh many friends seek me out and they I've I've helped them out too. And I know that I don't take it lightly. I'm very, I'm very proud and and it means a lot to be here today and to talk a little bit about it. But yeah, no, I just want more people to experience lymphatic massage. So if I can if I can offer this for a while and see if it helps them, great. But you know, in general, after that, I would think that once you have a lymphatic massage, you're gonna you're gonna feel lighter. And I do think that uh what I do for many of my regular clients is I am able to incorporate lymphatic flow into each and every one of my massages, whether it's a Swedish or a deep tissue. So and that you can be you can find that at most spas too. They usually offer lymphatic or a combination.
SPEAKER_01So I love that, Annette. So now just for the listeners who mention the Eminate Love podcast, you're giving three 90-minute sessions for $300 if they book before August 31st. Is that correct?
unknownYeah.
SPEAKER_00Oh absolutely, absolutely. And and that's yeah. No, and and that is it's it's definitely I I I just want people to experience experience this and get to know what it feels like. You know, a lot of people don't even realize how amazing it feels when you are just freed up like that.
SPEAKER_01Well, definitely. And if people don't live near you, they may not be able to find you. We're gonna have the link to everything in the podcast description today and also on social media. Yeah. But just in case they don't, it's Info Wellness Collective.
SPEAKER_00Yep, and it's located in Huntington Beach. And right now I'm I'm at practice there. However, I will be also opening a second location in Aliso Viejo very soon. So I will be I'm all over Orange County. So reach out and mention emanate love, and we'll we'll get started with with this hopefully uh healing experience for your listeners.
SPEAKER_01I'm I'm so excited and grateful for you, Annette.
SPEAKER_00You've been thank you. The feeling is mutual, Emily.
SPEAKER_01You are a wealth of information and expertise, and uh Inflowness Collective is an amazing brand. Annette has 22,000 um people she's experienced this with and transformed their lives. Literally, she's going to be doing some havening soon. Oh, yeah, the havening about some of the things.
SPEAKER_00You know, that is something I'm really excited about. And I think you and I, now that we've collaborated on this, I mean, it's really, I think, the next big thing. I mean, I it's it's the latest and greatest in the last 25 years that Dr. Paul McKenna has introduced havening. It's you can do you can perform it on people, and you can also, so that's what I do for my clients. Anybody with PTSD or something traumatic or just overall feel stuck if you are a procrastinator or if there's something that you want to rid, havening is the experience you want to have. And yeah, I'm excited. That's gonna be um definitely something that I'm I'm gonna be uh introducing soon.
SPEAKER_01Well, thank you, Annette. You're amazing. I'm so grateful to have you in my life. I hope you don't forget about me when you make it big. Ern if but thank you for letting me still be one of your clients because I know you're really busy and it's hard.
SPEAKER_00You're my VIP, Emily. Well, it's hard to get in.
SPEAKER_01Hard to get in with Annette. So, you know, you gotta take that appointment when it's offered, and so grateful that I I don't have to. I know at some locations she's booked out six months at at one of her locations right now. So at least six months. Maybe it's a year, could be years ago. No, no, no, no. All I know is I'm grateful for Annette, and I'm excited to offer this special deal to our listeners today. It's something we believe in. And if you if you don't live in the area, please research it and and find someone local to you. Or, you know, maybe I can ask Annette off the side if we know anyone at other locations. Because I know people, we have listeners all over, and I want to meet the needs of people in all areas of the world.
SPEAKER_00So if there's somebody that's far, far away in the world and they just have some questions, reach out to me and I'll definitely help you, you know, with any anything I can. I may not be able to touch you or massage you, but I can definitely offer advice or yeah, anything to help support healing.
SPEAKER_01I love that. Annette, you create freedom wherever you go, and you surround everyone with goodness. So I try. End with that beautiful mantra that flow creates freedom.
SPEAKER_00And it does, yeah.
SPEAKER_01Annette creates freedom. Thank you, Annette, and I hope you all have a great day, and we'll we'll see you again soon.
