In this episode, we talk about how we have been using the planner we created together and the difference small routines can make in everyday life. From staying organised during busy weeks to creating healthier habits and finding balance in overwhelming moments, we reflect on how planning can support wellbeing rather than add pressure. We also discuss the importance of slowing down, making time for yourself, and surviving the recent heatwave while trying to stay productive.

Hello everyone and welcome back to the My Values podcast. I hope you're all doing well and managing to stay cool because it has been quite warm lately. Today I'm joined by my daughter Isha. Hi! And we thought it would be nice to sit down and t talk a little about our planner, which we created together, and how we've actually been using it in everyday life over the past two months. Many people feel that they've reached the point where even simple tasks suddenly feel exhausting. But in a strange way, that actually links quite nicely to what we wanted to talk about today. Slowing down, staying organized, and creating routines that genuinely support our well-being rather than overwhelming us. So when we first made the planner, the goal was very simple. We wanted something that felt calm, practical, and supportive, rather than overwhelming. And now that we've probably lived with it for a while, I think we both realized how much of a difference small habits and routines can make. Especially during busy seasons of life. I think a lot of people, especially parents, spend most of the time mentally carrying around endless lists of things they need to remember: appointments, school schedules, shopping, work deadlines, household tasks. The list never stops. The one thing I've personally noticed since using the panner consistently is that writing everything down properly creates a surprising sense of calm. It clears mental space. Instead of trying to hold everything in our head all day, we can actually organize our thoughts, prioritize things properly, and stop that constant feeling of forgetting something important. It feels a lot less chaotic. Exactly. And what I really appreciate is that it doesn't feel overly rigid. I think sometimes planner can unintentionally create pressure. As though every hour of the day needs to be perfectly productive. But what we wanted this one to feel is more balanced than that. There's structure, of course, but there's also room for flexibility, reflection, and just being a bit more realistic. Because life isn't perfect every day. Some days are productive, some days less productive, and sometimes in warm weather like today, simply getting through the day and keeping cool is enough. The heat can definitely make things feel a lot slower. Yes, it can. Sometimes in the warm weather, even simple tasks can feel a little more difficult than they should, and actually, that's been another interesting thing that's using the planner recently. During busy or overwhelming weeks, it can help us slow things down a little instead of trying to do everything at once. Even small things like planning meals properly, setting realistic goals for the day, or simply writing reminders to take breaths have been genuinely helpful. I think we often underestimate how important gentle structure can be for well-being. Not strict routines, not perfection, just small systems that make life feel calmer. And one thing I have especially enjoyed in seeing how differently we both use the planner. I tend to focus on organization and planning ahead, while my daughter uses it more as a space to reset mentally and keep track of priorities without feeling overwhelmed. It's just nice seeing like everything written down properly. Yes. And I think physically writing things down changes the way you process them. It feels more intentional somehow. It also encourages you to pause for a moment, which I think many of us forget to do nowadays. Life moves very quickly. Everyone is constantly multitasking, constantly connected, constantly rushing towards the next thing, and sometimes sitting down for even 10 quiet minutes with a planner and a cup of tea can genuinely make the entire day feel more manageable. It becomes less about productivity and more about clarity. Honestly, creating and using it together has become a really lovely bonding experience for us. There is something very grounding about sharing routines as a family, even small ones. Especially now when so much daily life happens online or in a hurry. I think creating karma habits together naturally creates more conversations as well. And less stress. Definitely less stress. Well, I don't think any plan in the world can completely solve stress, but it can certainly help create a little more balance. And I think balance is something many people are searching for at the moment. Parents, particularly, who often spend so much time taking care of everyone else that they rarely stop and ask themselves what would make their own lives feel easier or calmer. Sometimes the answer isn't really dramatic, it's just simply having systems that support you instead of overwhelm you. And that's really what this planner has become for us. Not just a place to organize tasks, but a reminder to approach life a little more thoughtfully and a little more kindly. So that's what we wanted to share today. Just a small reflection on how we've been using the planner and why those everyday routines have ended up meaning more to us than we expected. And hopefully, it is also a reminder that organization does not have to be stressful. It can actually feel calming. Especially if you allow yourself flexibility, balance, and realistic expectations along the way. So, thank you all so much for listening. We hope you are finding small ways to slow down and take care of yourselves this week. We will speak again soon. Bye. See you. Take care. Bye.
