The Icebergology™ of Life with Rob Jackson
I've spent four decades sitting with people who couldn't explain why they kept doing what they kept doing. They weren't weak. They weren't faithless. They were living on the surface of their own lives — managing what was visible while something much older and much deeper ran the show underneath.
Most of what we call spiritual growth is actually behavior management. We resolve. We try harder. We confess the same thing again. And the cycle continues — not because God is absent, but because we haven't yet gone to the place where the real work happens.
This podcast goes there.
The Icebergology™ of Life is a Christ-centered exploration of the interior life — the thoughts, emotions, and desires that form everything visible about us. Each episode descends one layer deeper, from reactive behavior down through distorted thinking, damaged emotion, and disordered desire, all the way to the surrender that makes genuine transformation possible. Not sin management. Not behavior modification. What the indwelling Spirit can actually do in a life that has stopped pretending.
Dallas Willard called it the renovation of the heart. Henri Nouwen called it the return of the prodigal to himself. Larry Crabb called it moving from the outside in. I call it Icebergology — and after four decades of watching it work in the lives of people who had tried everything else, I believe it is the most honest account of how people actually change.
If you are tired of the cycle — of knowing better and doing it anyway, of resolving and relapsing, of confessing the same thing again — this podcast is for you.
New here? Start with Episode 01. Ten minutes. It may be the most honest ten minutes you spend this week.

You've made the promise before. This time it's going to be different. And you meant it. You tried harder, prayed more, made the changes you said you were going to make. And then — quietly, almost without noticing — you found yourself right back where you started.
Same reaction. Same pattern. Same disappointment.
The Icebergology™ of Life is a podcast about the interior life — the hidden world of thoughts, emotions, and desires that drives everything visible about us. Host Rob Jackson has spent four decades as a counselor and coach sitting with people in that exact place. What he kept discovering — in their lives and in his own — is that the real story is never on the surface.
It's always within you.

You've made the promise before, but this time it's gonna be different. You met it, you tried harder, you prayed more, you made the changes you said you were gonna make, and then quietly almost without noticing, you found yourself right back where you started same reaction, same pattern, same disappointment. The Icebergology of Life is a podcast about the interior life, the hidden world of thoughts, emotions, and desires that drive everything visible about us. I'm Rob Jackson. For four decades I've sat with people in counseling offices, in pastors' studies, in churches, in living rooms, at the same place you find yourself right now, trying harder, getting nowhere, and wondering what's wrong. And what I keep discovering in their lives and in my own is this the real story is never on the surface. It's always beneath it. This podcast is not about managing behavior. It's about what God does beneath the water line where the real work of transformation happens. We're going to walk together through a framework I call the iceberg model, a map of the interior life grounded in Scripture and built on four decades of clinical and coaching work. We'll move from the reactive behaviors you know too well down through surrender and up into the responsive life that only the Holy Spirit can produce. If you're tired of managing the surface, if you're ready to let God meet you beneath it, well you're in the right place. One more thing. We've built a Spotify playlist to sit alongside the podcast. Nine songs, one for each step of the framework, is called the Icebergology of Life Formation Playlist. Follow it on Spotify or find it linked at icebergology.com/slash model. Season one begins now. Episode one is You Are Not Your Behavior. I'm glad you're here. If what you've heard is resonating and you want a clear single map of the iceberg model, I've put together a free guide called the Formation Reference. It's a PDF you can download right now at icebergology.comslash model. That's icebergology.comslash model. It's free. Go grab it. I'll see you in episode one.
