Human Services Stories: Management, Customer & Staff Voices
A podcast for helping professionals and the people they serve.
Hosted by Clinton Lewis, a human services leader with over 30 years of experience in the Department of Health and Human Services and advanced degrees in Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Educational Leadership, this show is a space for honest, supportive conversations about the realities of CPS, foster care, and related human services work.
Each episode blends real stories, practical guidance, and coaching‑style encouragement. We talk about:
•Getting past the stigma of working in human services.
•Dealing with isolation from family and community.
•Building a supportive community and finding time for yourself.
•Leadership, management, and staff support.
•Customer success stories and navigating the system with clarity and confidence.
Whether you’re a manager, staff member, or specialist in human services — or a customer, family member, or community partner touched by these systems — this podcast is for you. Our goal is to honor the professionals who do this hard work, support the families they serve, and create a space where growth, healing, and connection are possible.

Welcome to Human Services Stories, Management, Customer, and Staff Voices. I'm Clinton Willis, and I'm glad you're here. It shows about the people behind the work, the managers, staff, customers, and communities who care, support, and help one another move forward. And this episode is called What You Do Still Matters. There are times when the work feels invisible. You do what you do what needs to be done, you keep showing up, and still it may seem like no one notices. In those moments, it's important for you to remember this. What you do still matters. Your impact is not always immediate. You may not see the results today, you may not hear the thank you, but your work may still be changing your life in ways that you cannot measure. Remember, your presence has value. Sometimes the most powerful thing you bring is not a perfect answer. It's your steady presence, your grace, your calm. Your care matters, your effort matters, your follow-through matters. Trust in the ripple effect. Small things can create big ripples. A thoughtful conversation, consistent response, a calm tone.
SPEAKER_00Those are the things that stay with people. Those are the things that count. For a coaching moment, um, I want you to name your impact.
SPEAKER_01Ask yourself, number one, what difference did I make this week, even if it felt small? Number two, who may have been helped by my presence or actions? Number three, how can I remind myself that my work still matters? Then say, what I do still matters even when I can't see the full result. Again, what I do still matters even when I can't see the full result. Thank you for listening, Human Services Stories Management, Customer, Staff Voices. Remember, do the work, stay kind, keep going forward. What you do still matters. And always you got this.
