In this episode, Clinton Lewis challenges listeners to think about leadership, service, and integrity in a deeper way. If you ruled the world, would you serve the needs of your community? What services would you strengthen, improve, and protect for the people you serve? This episode explores the idea of moving toward an ideal state of mind where your beliefs are matched by your actions, and where your everyday life reflects the values you speak about.

Welcome to Human Services, Stories, Management, Customers, Staff Voices. I'm Clinton Lewis, and I'm glad you're here. The show is about the people behind the work, the managers, staff, customers, and communities who care, support, and help one another move forward. And this episode is called Can You Walk It Like You Talk It. Let me ask you a question. If you were the world, would you continue to serve the needs of your community? The question is bigger than it sounds. It pushes us to think about leadership, service, and responsibility. It asks whether our values are only words or whether they shape the way we live and work every day. We are working towards the ideal. None of us live in a perfect world, but we can still work towards the ideal state. This means staying focused on what kind of person, worker, leader, and community member we want to be. An ideal state is not about pretending everything's perfect, but it's about choosing to live with purpose. It's about asking what kind of services do people need? What kind of support actually helps? What kind of leadership builds trust? When you think that way, you begin to move from reacting to intentionally serving. What services matter the most? You can improve the services around you. What would you strengthen? Maybe you work towards a better access to mental health support, stronger parenting support, more reliable case management, clear communication, cross lines, more respectful treatment of families, or services that truly meet people where they are. These are not just ideas, they're the kinds of supports that can change lives. And when you know what is effective, you should be willing to help build it, protect it, and provide it to people that you serve. Good service is not just about paperwork or programs, it's about helping real people solve real problems in real time.
SPEAKER_01Your beliefs must show up in your behavior.
SPEAKER_00Um you can um support your beliefs with your action towards others. I believe in helping people, I believe in treating others with dignity. But the real question is whether your behavior matches your those beliefs. Do you listen when people are hurting?
SPEAKER_01Stay patient when someone is struggling.
