Welcome to Human Services Stories, Management, Customers, Staff Voices. I'm Clinton Lewis, and I'm glad you're here. This show is about the people behind the work, the manager, staff, customers, and communities who care, support, help one another move forward. And this episode is called Get Up, Get Out, and Get Something. Here's the simple truth. The days of your life will pass by whether you choose to act or not. You can either sit back and wait for the next chapter to magically appear, or you can get up, get out, and get something. You can become an active participant in your life and your career instead of a passive observer. Too many people wait for the right moment, the perfect conditions, or a clear sign from the universe. Be an active participant. But in the meantime, life keeps moving. Being an active participant means showing up on up on purpose, making decisions that are waiting for them to be made for you. Speaking up when you need to, and stepping into opportunities that are available. Opportunities rarely wait for you. You have to meet them halfway. You have to move towards them. If you want to be the best at what you do, you have to master your craft. This does not happen by accident. It happens through practice, through learning, through reflection, and through effort. Mastering your craft means staying curious, asking questions, being open to feedback, learning from mistakes, and staying consistent. You don't have to be perfect, but you do have to be committed. When you commit to getting better every day, you become stronger, more confident, and more effective in everything you do. Part of becoming the best version of yourself is doing work that matters. Work hard to serve. That means serving others with integrity, compassion, and professionalism. You can work hard not just to advance your career, but to help families, protect children, support your team, and make a positive impact wherever you are. Service is not a side project, it's a way of life. When you serve with purpose, your work becomes meaningful and your days become valuable. You have to set goals and then move towards them. Goals give direction. Without goals, life can feel scattered and on focus. When you set clear goals, you give yourself a target to move towards every day. Your goals might be career related, personal, health-related, or relationship focused. Whether they are, whatever they are, write them down. Then break them into small daily actions. You do not need to do everything all at once, but you can take one step at a time. Each day ask yourself, what is one thing I can do today that will move me closer to my goal? Those small steps take taken consistently add up to big change. You already have everything you need to to grow, to improve, and become stronger. Be the best version of yourself. You just have to be the best version that you can be of yourself. That means staying honest, owning your mistakes, learning from every experience, and choosing to behave with integrity. Becoming the best your best self is not about being perfect. It's about being intentional. It's about choosing growth over comfort, effort over ease, and purpose over distraction. At the end of the day, you want to be able to look back and say, I gave him my best. I have no regrets. Regrets usually come from the things you do not do, not the things you did. Live with no regrets by taking action, pushing through fear, chasing what matters to you, and staying true to your values. You may not always get the results you want, but you can live with the knowledge that you tried, you learned, and you grew. Here's a culture moment for this episode. Ask yourself, what is one thing that I can do today to get me closer to my goals? How can I show up today as an active participant in my life and career? And what small step can I take to master my craft and to serve others? Then say to yourself, I will get up, get out, and get something. I will be an active participant in my life and in my career. Say it again if you need to. Let those words be your daily reminder to take action. Thank you for listening to Human Services Stories, Management, Customer, and Staff Voices. Remember, don't let the days of your life pass by. Be present, be active, be intentional. Master your craft, work hard to serve, set goals, and move towards them. Become the best version of yourself, and you will live with no regrets. Remember, you got this.
