Management Customer Staff Voices. I'm Clinton Lewis and I'm glad you're here. Today's episode is about listening to the whole story. In human services, people often come to us caring more than they first mentioned. What looks like one concern may be connected to stress, fear, loss, confusion, or past experiences that have not yet been fully told or revealed. That is why listening matters so much. When we slow down, take enough time to hear the whole story, we can serve people better. We can avoid assumptions, we can show respect, and we create a space for honesty and growth. Customers need to know that they are being hurt, not rushed. They need to know that their situation matters, even if it's complicated. When someone feels truly listened to, trust begins to grow. And that trust is often the first step towards making progress and lasting growth. Listening to the whole story often helps us make better decisions. It reminds us that the person in front of us is more than just a file, more than just a case, and more than merely a problem to solve. They're a real person with a life, a history, a future. And they have hopes and dreams. Sometimes the greatest support we can offer begins with patience. Let the person speak, let the details unfold, ask better questions, and hear what is really being said. Here's a coaching moment for this episode. Ask yourself: am I really hearing the whole story? Or might I be making assumptions too quickly? How can I show more patience and respect?
SPEAKER_00And what would change if I listen more carefully today? Please say this to yourself. I will hear the whole story. I will listen with patience, care, and respect. And our closing moment for this episode People feel stronger when they're hurt.
SPEAKER_01Please take the time to listen well and work make the work become more human, more helpful, and more effective. As always, remember, you got this.
