Wigs on the Green is hosted by Tamara and Marina, two women who believe the most important stories in Irish public life are the ones that never made the front page. Each episode, we sit down with the OG upstarts of Irish grassroots politics, activism, social change, disability rights, and queer history...the people who went out on a limb before it was safe, popular, or even legal to do so.
Because Ireland didn't change by accident. It changed because people got mad, got organised, and refused to go away. And right now, with so much still to fight for, there has never been a better time to hear how they did it.

03 - Hamada on Growing Up Under Occupation in Gaza

Hamada is a biomedical engineering graduate from Gaza. For the past year and a half he has been building a financial bridge between the outside world and families inside Gaza; coordinating transfers, navigating the occupation's grip on the banking system, staying available at all hours to people who needed him. He never fundraised for himself.
In this conversation we hear about his grandfather's displacement in 1948, what it felt like to be seven years old in the first war, and what Gaza actually was before the world started watching. We also hear what Hamada needs now, which is not a luxury life.
