For years, SEO experts told us to create content that targeted long-tail keywords.
That advice wasn't wrong.
But AI Search has changed the game.
Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Grok, Perplexity, and other AI platforms aren't simply matching keywords anymore—they're trying to understand businesses.
Who are you?
What do you do?
Where do you provide your services?
Why should someone trust you?
In this episode, Ralph Peterson explains why modern Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) requires a new mindset: stop writing pages that simply target keywords and start creating content that makes your business the obvious answer.

The AI Search Briefing is a daily 1–3 minute update helping business owners, marketers, and SEO professionals understand how AI is changing search.

Stop chasing keywords, start becoming the answer. Hi, I'm Ralph Peterson of 7 Trillion SEO and this is the AI Search Briefing. For years we were told the same SEO advice. Create content that targets long tail keywords. Honestly, that was good advice. And for a long time, that worked. Instead of trying to rank for plumber, you wrote content for emergency plumber maple grove. Instead of trying to rank for carpet cleaning, you wrote content for pet odor carpet cleaning in New Hope. Instead of trying to rank for real estate agent, you wrote content for downsizing realtor in Woodbury. That made sense. Hey, it still makes sense. But here's the problem. That advice is no longer enough. Because AI search is not just matching keywords, it's trying to understand answers. It's trying to understand businesses. It's trying to understand who you are, what you do, where you do it, and why you should be trusted. And that is the big shift in local search. Old school SEO said create content that targets long tail keywords. New school AEO says create content that makes your business the answer. And that's a very different mindset. I actually have a five-year-old post-it note on one of my monitors in my office that says SEO, create content that targets long tail keywords. But today I'll add another line underneath that. AI search, create content that makes you the recommended answer. Because that's where search is going. You are not just writing for rankings anymore. You are writing so Google, ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, Perplexity, Groc, and every other AI engine can understand you clearly enough to recommend you. That means your website cannot just say we offer quality service. Everybody and their mother says that. Your website needs to answer real questions. No fluff, no keyword stuffing, not a page that says best carpet cleaner near me 17 times like it was written by a robot that had a bad hair day. Clear answers, specific services, real locations, real proof, real expertise. That's what makes your business easy to understand. And you know what that means? The easier your business is to understand, the easier it is to recommend. If you have no idea how to do any of this, send me a text. 763-445-9327 or visit seventrillion.
