This was a nooze week with teeth.
In Weekend Recap #8, Ralph Peterson of 7Trillion SEO pulls together the big lesson from Week 8 of The AI Search Briefing:
Old school SEO was about chasing the algorithm.
New school AEO is about becoming the answer.
This week covered five major ideas:

  •  Stop chasing keywords.
  •  Wake up your website.
  •  Build links that actually make sense.
  •  Feed the Google Gorilla.
  •  Start training the machine.

If your website, Google Business Profile, YouTube, social media, reviews, directories, and local mentions are not telling the same story, Google and AI Search may not have enough reason to recommend your business.
And coming up next week, Ralph asks a question every local business owner needs to answer:
Is your phone ringing?

The AI Search Briefing is a daily 1–3 minute update helping business owners, marketers, and SEO professionals understand how AI is changing search.

Speaker

Hi, I'm Ralph Peterson of 7 Trillion SEO and this is the AI Search Briefing Weekend Recap number eight. This was a Nooze Week with teeth. Haha. All week long we talked about one big shift. Old school SEO was about chasing logarithms. New school AEO is about becoming the answer. On Monday we said stop chasing keywords and start becoming the answer. Long tail keywords still matter, but AI search needs more than keywords. It needs clear answers, real services, real locations, real proof, and real trust signals. And on Tuesday, we smelled something rotten. That was your website, and no, it's not aging. A dormant website may still be online, but that does not mean it's alive. If your website has no depth, no updates, no trust, no signals, no clear answers, Google and AI Search do not have much reason to recommend it. Then on Wednesday, rumor had it, Google has a secret link score. Eh, maybe, maybe not. But here's what I do know. The best links are the ones that make sense. A Chamber of Commerce link makes sense. A local news mention makes sense. A trade association link makes sense. A random blog about crypto, dog food, roof repair, and carpet cleaning? Come on now. Okay, on Thursday we fed the Google Gorilla. Google and AI Search are hungry for clear information, consistent signals, reviews, photos, service pages, FAQs, and proof that your business is real, active, trusted, and worth recommending. And finally on Friday, we pulled it all together. Stop trying to trick the logarithm. Start training the machine. Your website, your Google Business profile, YouTube, social media, reviews, directories, local mentions should be the same story, the same business, the same trust signals. Now, here is your week eight challenge. Here's your week eight challenge. Can a customer understand what you do in seven seconds? Can AI Search understand where you do it? Can Google verify that you are real trusted and worth recommending? If not, you do not need more tricks. You need clear signals. And coming up next week on the AI Search Briefing, we are asking a question every local business owner needs to answer. Is your phone ringing? Because getting found, trusted, and recommended is great, but sooner or later the phone needs to ring. I'm Ralph Peterson of 7 Trillion SEO. Think big, be trusted, be recommended. Ralph, I want coffee.
