Dr Jan Machielsen is a historian at Cardiff University and an expert on the history witches, werewolves and saints. He has published widely on early modern demonology, on witchcraft historiography, and the gendering of the witch-hunt. He is the editor of The Science of Demons (2nd ed., 2027), an important undergraduate textbook. His latest book is a must read called The Basque Witch-Hunt: A Secret History and is out in paperback now!

Professor Alison Rowlands is Professor of European History at the University of Essex, where she has been researching and teaching the history of witchcraft for more than thirty years. Her work explores why some parts of Europe experienced devastating witch trials while others saw very few, why women were more likely than men to be accused, and how the legacy of the witch hunts continues to shape popular culture today. She was the historical adviser to the Tendring Witch Heritage Trail in Essex and now leads the major research project Witchcraft Politics Across the Sea, which explores the fascinating links between English and German witch trials.

Robin Briggs is an Emeritus Fellow of All Souls College, Oxford, and one of the world's leading historians of witchcraft. For more than forty years, his research has explored why ordinary people came to believe in witches and how those beliefs shaped communities across Europe. His acclaimed books, including Witches and Neighbours, have helped separate the reality from mythology, making him one of the most respected voices in the field.
