Wadhwani AI was founded on the conviction that technology must serve the underserved. AI-Naama — meaning "a register of AI" or "an account of AI" in Urdu and Hindi — extends that mission into the public sphere. It is a podcast series by Wadhwani AI that brings rigorous, accessible discourse about AI and subsequent digital public goods to a broad public audience.
AI systems are increasingly shaping consequential decisions in health, agriculture, education, credit, and governance – potentially in ways that could be opaque, inequitable, or unaccountable. These risks are especially acute in the Global South, where regulatory frameworks are nascent, affected communities are underrepresented in the design of these systems, and the stakes of getting AI wrong are highest.
AI-Naama convenes government, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and civil society voices to examine what responsible, ethical AI actually looks like in practice - not as an abstract ideal, but as a contested, urgent, and evolving project.
