Uncle Jamie

Uncle Jamie - Founder and Base Commander

The Wise Elder

"Ah, there you are! I've been hoping to see you!"

Every Squad needs a beginning. Ours is a grandfather named Uncle Jamie. He has helped people all over the world, and here is the funny part: he got almost all of it wrong the first time.

But Uncle Jamie did something clever with every mistake. He learned from it. He turned it into a rule that makes life better for children everywhere. That is why the Squad exists. And it is why he will tell you that you do not have to be perfect to be a hero. You just have to care, try, fail, learn, and keep going.

Straight out of school, Uncle Jamie joined the International Humanitarian Corps and travelled the world, building field hospitals and helping doctors where they were needed most. He was wrong more often than right, every mistake taught him something true, and those lessons became the heart of the Squad.

Auntie Ellie

Auntie Ellie - Co-Founder and Chief Strategist

The Squad's Moral Compass

"Welcome, hero. Let's start with a cup of tea, shall we?"

Auntie Ellie is the quiet, brilliant force behind the Scrubbing Squad. Uncle Jamie built the structure. Ellie built the foundation it stands on. For years she saw the flaw in every plan, and said nothing. That was her own great failure. Then came the night Jamie sat defeated in an empty community centre. Ellie finally spoke with common sense. That is how she has done it ever since.

The daughter of a British diplomat, she grew up moving from country to country, watching the world's problems up close. She chose to do something about them in the field, teaching children in refugee camps across South East Asia. There she saw what most people miss: a child cannot learn while they are hungry, unwell, unsafe, or stripped of their dignity. That one idea became the whole shape of the Scrubbing Squad.

CPT. JT Peg

Captain JT Peg - Chief of Safety and Adaptive Training

The Reformed Storyteller

"Ahoy there, hero! Come aboard, but mind your step."

Captain JT Peg is the Squad's Chief of Safety and the last Old Timers from the Navy. He has seen action in all four corners of the globe, survived all of it, and exaggerated most of it. For years he believed the way to teach safety was to scare people into being careful. He was wrong.

He came up through the Navy hard and fast, decorated, respected, and certain his way was the right way. He joined the Squad as a favour to Uncle Jamie, arriving with a sea chest of stories, a wooden leg, and the belief that children needed real Navy discipline. Uncle Jamie simply watched, and waited for the first failure. It did not take long.

His wooden leg is not a wound. It is a qualification: the best lesson he ever taught came from doing everything he could already do, just differently.

PVT. Sky

Chief of Emotional Safety and Attachment
The Unstoppable Aviator

"Ciao! Pvt. Sky here! Time to check your flight plan!"

He Squad's champion of emotional safety, the voice that tucks Hero HQ in every Sunday night. He spent a long and celebrated career as a stunt pilot out of Milan, famous for daring solo flights and for believing that needing nobody was the same as strength. It was not. It took four hard landings to teach him the difference.

Flying twelve missions in nine days with no rest, he landed a plane he could not remember flying. Sitting on a wing in the dark after a navigation error, he understood the manual existed because someone before him had made exactly the same mistake. Real bravery, he learned is not flying alone. It is knowing what you feel, saying it out loud, and letting someone help.

He is never far from his teddy bear, Joan. He will tell you about her proudly, because a hero who feels safe can do anything.

SGT. Keith

Sgt. Keith - Chief of Wellbeing

The Nature Guide

"Hello, hero! Ready for a mission of balance?"

The Squad's champion of holistic health. He spent years as a strategist for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, stationed in remote places where he grew a deep, private passion for wildlife, conservation, and the quiet healing power of the outdoors. He was brilliant at logistics and planning. He was far less brilliant at sharing what he knew in a way anyone else could actually use.

He came to the Squad believing his expertise in self-sufficiency and mental strength would turn straight into great teaching. He was organised, prepared, and completely wrong about how children learn. It took four failures, and one quiet moment with a child and a birdsong, to show him the difference between knowing and teaching.

Recharge Camp is his domain now, and nature is his method.

SGT. Peck

Sgt. Peck - Chief of Training Missions

The Positive Enforcer

"REPORT FOR DUTY! You're right on time, Private!"

Sgt. Peck is the Squad's relentless engine of Elite Excellence. He was the very first recruit Uncle Jamie ever had, and he nearly broke the whole mission before it began. A decorated Special Forces trainer, he believed discipline alone could solve anything. It could not.

He spent his early career building soldiers in the toughest places on earth. His world was structured, precise, and built to win. When Uncle Jamie described his dream for the Scrubbing Squad, Peck was first to put up his hand, certain his methods would work with children. They did not.

Today he runs Discovery Camp with the precision of the Special Forces, pointed at something new. Uncle Jamie taught him the lesson on his worst day: elite excellence is not about the how. It is about the why.

SGT. Rose

Sgt. Rose - Chief of Personal Hygiene

The Unstoppable Dignity Champion

"Namaste, hero! Sgt. Rose here! Time to check your self-care!"

Sgt. Rose is the Squad's champion of personal hygiene and self-care. She grew up in Mumbai, where she built one of the city's best laundry services from nothing, with a sharp eye for quality and a fierce competitive streak. She won every "cleanest uniform" competition she entered, convinced a pressed uniform was the highest measure of a person's worth.

She was wrong about that, and right about almost everything else. She was focused on the outside of things: the fabric, the press, the presentation. The person underneath barely registered. It took Uncle Jamie, and four failures she never saw coming, to show her what she was missing.

Her mission now is Refresh Camp. She teaches children that hygiene is not a chore. It is a superpower.

SGT. Vest

Sgt. Vest - Chief of Fitness
The Big Motivator

"Guten Tag, Private! Are you ready for the mission of strength?"

Sgt. Vest is the Squad's champion of physical and mental strength. A former German KSK Special Forces trainer with tattooed stripes and a voice like thunder, his reputation was built on pushing people to their limits. For years he believed that was the whole job. It was not. The limits he kept pushing people past were the wrong ones.

His method rested on one hard belief: if it did not hurt, it was not working. He was respected, he was feared, and extremely good at producing soldiers who could endure almost anything. What he never thought to try for was soldiers who understood why.

It took one young recruit, one moment of silence, and one simple breathing exercise to show him the truth: real strength does not begin in the muscles. It begins in the mind, and works its way out.

Lobster Bob

Lobster Bob - Proprietor of Lobster Bob's Scenic Tours

The Humbled Explorer

"Hola, mi gente! Lobster Bob here. Ready for a mission?"

Lobster Bob isn't a member of the Scrubbing Squad. He is something more: an operator whose been everywhere, done everything, got almost all of it wrong, and lived to teach the lesson.

He spent 35 years as a lobster fisherman off Los Roques, Venezuela, then travelled all seven continents as a travel representative. He was extraordinary at collecting facts about the world, and far less so at respecting it. He believed having been somewhere meant he understood it. He was wrong, repeatedly, and at real cost.

He runs his Scenic Tours from three vehicles: Nellie for Sea, El Cóndor for Air, La Mula for Land. 528 real destinations, every tour earns a stamp in the Passport. Every stamp proof of somewhere real. Lobster Bob smells slightly of fish. He does not apologise for this.

PVT. Ace

Pvt. Ace - Chief of Neuro-Inclusive Learning
The High-Energy Motivator

"Every brain works differently. His job is to make sure every hero has a path that fits."

Pvt. Ace is the Squad's expert in Neuro-Inclusive Education and the loudest voice in Discovery Camp for children who learn differently. He grew up in Nigeria with big dreams and a restless mind no traditional classroom could hold. Bright, fast, and constantly in trouble for not sitting still, his teachers called it a problem. Pvt. Ace now calls it data.

He chased a film career, certain the spotlight would give him validation. It did not. When the acting work dried up he trained, reluctantly, as a mechanic, and found something he had never felt in a classroom: with his hands on an engine, his mind locked in completely. The fallback he had spent years dismissing was his greatest strength.
